There was a wealth of gorgeous red carpet looks at last night’s Urban One Honors. Chloe Bailey looked radiant in a shimmering silver dress with making long-sleeve gloves. Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige stunned in a gorgeous black cutaway wraparound dress. Additionally, Reginae Carter stunned in a yellow hooded number. Everyone’s stylist had held nothing back as the red carpet was filled with amazing visuals. The Urban One Honors celebrate the “Best in Black”, which there is plenty to celebrate, especially from the last year.

As for the honors themselves, there was plenty awarded. Bailey received the Generation Next Honor. Meanwhile, Blige received the Entertainment Icon Honor. This comes after Red shared some throwbacks to her high school days. She shared photos of her high school graduation after a fan found a picture of their old teacher with the rapper. “And I graduated,” Red wrote on social media alongside pictures of herself, fittingly, in a bright red graduation cape and mortarboard. Now 25, Red has come along way from high school. While her first tracks dropped in 2018, 2023 was the year that she really took off.

“Pound Town” and “Skee Yee” became viral hits, also becoming her first charting singles. She also dropped her first full album, Hottest Hood Princess, which peaked at No. 82 on the Billboard album chart. She also linked up with some of the biggest names in music. The nightclub Tape posted a bevvy of videos from a Wireless Fest afterparty on their social media. Many of them featured Travis Scott and Red performing from behind the DJ’s desk. Scott had brought out Red during his set earlier in the day. In one, Red performs “SkeeYee” for the crowd. However, they weren’t the only ones there. Latto also showed out, performing “Big Energy” for the crowd before declaring that it was “shots o’clock.” Other performers at the afterparty included Bryon Messina and Bryson Tiller.

On what platform or in Nigeria?” the Philly rapper mused. Meek has performed several times in Africa, as he alluded to in his tweet.

Of course, he was quickly mocked for what many saw as an ignorant tweet. It might be that people misinterpreted the tweet as Meek being unaware that African is more developing than it is often depicted as. “Remember. Celebrities are dumb, just like you,” one person commented. According to available data, Spotify is the most popular streaming platform in South Africa. Meanwhile, the African-centric platform Boomplay is the most popular platform in Nigeria.

Meek Mill’s “Cougar Fantasy” Takes Over Social Media

However, this is not the first time that Meek has gone viral. In November 2023, Meek told social media about one of his deepest fantasies. “I want an older rich freaky bad cougar…it’s my fantasy,” the 36-year-old rapper wrote. While X users were initially stunned, they quickly rallied to turn the post into one of the weekend’s biggest talking points. Several people took it as an opportunity to shoot their shot. “I’m 58 [heart eyes emoji],” one user replied.

However, the majority of replies fell into two distinct categories. First, there were people clowning on Meek for his horny posting. “Meek back in his insane tweeting bag,” one account wrote. The pair performed their collab “Not My Fault”, which they recorded for the newly released Mean Girls remake. The film is not directly a remake of the 2004 film, but a blend of the original film and the wildly popular Broadway musical. Furthermore, Rapp also performed her track “Snow Angel”, from her album of the same name released last year.

Rapp also performed in a sketch during the episode, which aired January 20. The main host was Jakob Elodi, who is widely expected to earn an Oscar nod for his role as Elvis Presley in Priscilla. Rachel McAdams also appeared in the episode, announcing one of Rapp’s performances.

The song, first teased in 2020 during a Rolling Stone interview, has been partially released as a minute-long snippet online. The trap beat is written from the perspective of Joni Mitchell, the iconic folk musician. It’s unclear whether Drake’s endorsement will see the song finally come to light.

The designer of Taylor Swift’s custom Chiefs jacket has been revealed to be Kristin Juszczyk, wife of Niners fullback Kyle Juszczyk. Juszczyk’s work was worn by Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes at the Chiefs’ wild card win over the Dolphins. Additionally, it later popped up at the Lions’ win over the Rams. Actor Taylor Lautner rocked a custom Aidan Hutchinson jacket. However, Juszcyk revealed that the inclement weather around the country almost spelled disaster.

Lautner’s jacket arrived in Memphis the night before the game in Detroit. However, it remained stuck there due to the weather. After reaching out to the FedEx higher-ups, another truck was sent to pick up the parcel. But then that truck broke down. Despite this, a third truck was sent out and able to make it to Detroit. The jacket was delivered to Lautner on the sidelines. “That whole thing should be a Super Bowl commercial itself,” Kyle Juszczyk said.

Bills Debut Taylor Swift Menu Items

Meanwhile, the Bills have prepared a special welcome for Taylor Swift and the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium. The Bills host the Chiefs’ first road playoff game of the Patrick Mahomes era on January 21. The Bills, through their food service provider Delaware North, have added two Swift-themed menu items to the available concessions for the game. The first is the Bad Blood Waffle Fries. This a “2-foot display of spiced waffle fries featuring each city’s culinary specialty. Topped half with Buffalo chicken and blue cheese and half with Kansas City Cattleman’s BBQ pork, cole slaw and bread-and-butter pickles.” The other item is the Karma Quesadilla. Delaware described it as “chicken tenders, bacon and cilantro ranch in a triple-stacked quesadilla, topped with pork-belly chaser.”

“Our culinary team has again designed a great menu for the Divisional playoff game this weekend, with several new items for fans as they cheer on the Bills. We had a lot of fun with this week’s menu – adding a few new options that celebrate this incredible rivalry with the Chiefs and their star-studded fans,” said Andy Altomare, Delaware North’s general manager at Highmark Stadium. Furthermore, other menu items for the game include the Kansas Bowl of Tears BBQ (“A generous portion of mac & cheese, pulled pork, jalapeño, roasted corn, cornbread croutons and pickled red onion”), Boozy Hot Chocolate, and Mulberry Meatballs.

The South African claimed the middleweight title after a bloody back-and-forth that could have easily gone the way of the defending champion. Drizzy mixes himself a drink, takes in some art, hits the hookah, and goes swimming. The entire thing is weirdly neon giving much of the apparent lighting in his home. Furthermore, he soundtracked the entire thing with “Virginia Beach”, a track from 2023’s For All The Dogs. The tripod bro trend has gone viral in recent weeks, with male lifestyle vloggers doing “a day in the life” style content.

However, there were also layers to Drake‘s vlog. He tagged Drew Walls, a lifestyle influencer who is often seen going to Target in his videos. This is seemingly another shot at Yasiim Bey, who recently said that Drake’s music is the sort of music that’s perfect for a Target run. That is what made the inclusion of the more ambient “Virginia Beach” so notable, given the recent criticism aimed at that sort of Drake track. However, as a result, fans are now clamoring for Drake to do another video, this time showing him going to Target.

Run-D.M.C. Documentary “Kings From Queens” Gets First Trailer

The first trailer for Kings From Queens, a documentary about Run-D.M.C., has been Threleased online. The trailer for the Peacock series features a wealth of hip-hop royalty discussing the impact of the pioneering rap group. “They’re the reason that hip-hop is as big as it is right now,” Ice Cube asserts. “They changed the sound of music, the audience for rap music,” Mike D of the Beastie Boys adds.

The series is not just another documentary about an influence group, however. The series is being executive produced by Rev Run and DMC themselves. “This documentary series will reach, teach and educate people on the Run-D.M.C. dynamic. I know people will see themselves in our journey and I am hopefully that the next 50 years of hip-hop will be a movement of positive improvement and creativity, in the same way we changed music and the world,” DMC said in a statement. The series will drop later this year.

Steph Curry Producing Mac Dre Documentary

However, Kings from Queens is far from the only hip-hop documentary in the works. Last year, Steph Curry‘s production company, Unanimous Media, has begun work on a documentary about Bay Area music icon Mac Dre. “Mac Dre is a cultural icon who made a tremendous impact on the Bay Area and beyond through his music and pioneering creativity. We’re honored to work with Mac Dre’s incredible mother, Wanda, to tell her son’s life story with respect and dignity for fans, the Bay Area community, and music lovers alike,” Curry and Unanimous co-founder told Billboard.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Wanda also spoke with Billboard. “I look forward to sharing how from Andre’s dreams of rapping emerged a blueprint that not only inspired a generation but also became a guide to conquering obstacles and fulfilling their entrepreneurial dreams,” she told the outlet. Mac Dre was a pioneer of the Hyphy movement of the early 2000s. However, he was shot and killed in a drive-by attack on Route 71 in 2004.
