Lord Jamar Weighs In

Subsequently, Lord Jamar was asked if he believes that Sexyy Red is an industry plant. The artist firmly believes that she is. In fact, he went on to note that industry plants are not some sort of conspiracy theory. Cypress Hill To Bring Iconic “Simpsons” Joke To Life Alongside London Symphony Orchestra

Today, musicians at the London Symphony Orchestra will make a joke from nearly three decades ago into a reality, and hip-hop fans can’t wait. The joke in question was featured on a 1996 episode of The Simpsons, and saw the group speculate that they had accidentally booked the orchestra, “possibly while high.” Ever since the episode aired, fans have been demanding a real link-up with the West Coast pioneers, a dream that will finally come true at the Royal Albert Hall.

It arrives just in time for the 30th anniversary of Cypress Hill’s 1992 album Black Sunday, and will feature performances of classics like “Insane in the Brain,” “I Wanna Get High,” and more. In a recent interview with BBC, B-Real expressed excitement over the eagerly awaited moment, crediting The Simpsons for giving them the opportunity of a lifetime.

“It’s been something that we’ve talked about for many years since the Simpsons episode first aired. So it’s very special for us. And it’s coming off the heels of our 30th anniversary for our Black Sunday album,” he told the outlet. “We’ve played a lot of historical venues throughout our career and stuff like that, but nothing as prestigious as this… We salute the Simpsons because if they had not written that episode, we probably wouldn’t be doing this.”

B-Real adds that the group has always strived to collaborate with “out-of-the-box artists,” despite any cultural differences that could come up. At rehearsals, for instance, the LSO reportedly thought that the term “Glock” was referring to a glockenspiel rather than a gun. What do you think of the London Symphony Orchestra performing Cypress Hill’s Black Sunday album to bring a Simpsons joke to life? Are you looking forward to hearing it? Toro Y Moi’s Dreamy ‘Heaven’ Video With Kevin Abstract Recalls A Carefree Young Friendship

Things used to be so simple. June hit, summer vacation started, and you had all day to do whatever you wanted for three months — even if all you wanted to do was nothing at all. Things were even simpler in the time period depicted in the video for Toro Y Moi‘s new Kevin Abstract-featuring song “Heaven,” before computers were the size of Pop Tarts, fit in your pockets, and demanded your attention all hours of the day and night.

Even friendships were easier; the youthful stand-ins for Toro and his childhood friend run through flower-dappled fields and splash in ponds in the wilderness surrounding their suburban housing development. It’s cute and innocent — sure, the seeds of a later romance can be seen, but for now, these kiddos are more concerned with enjoying their idyllic summer days to their fullest.

“Heaven” is the second single from Toro’s upcoming album Hole Erth, following his June track “Tuesday,” another nostalgic look at the singer-producer’s laid-back childhood. That seems to be the running theme for Hole Erth, which is due on September 6 via Dead Oceans and features appearances from Don Toliver, Duckwrth, Kenny Mason, and more.

You can watch Toro Y Moi’s “Heaven” video featuring Kevin Abstract and Lev above.

Hole Erth is out 9/6 via Dead Oceans. You can find more info here.

Eminem’s Alter Ego Rises From The Dead In New “The Death Of Slim Shady” Trailer

Eminem is currently gearing up to unleash his eagerly anticipated album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) this Friday. Today, he gave his fans a taste of what’s to come with a new trailer, complete with an unexpected reference to a viral meme. The trailer in question shows him spitting on the headstone of the “beloved antagonist” in the pouring rain. “‘It feels so empty without him,’” he captioned the post. “HAWK TUAH.”

Right before the trailer ends, Slim Shady’s muddied hand is seen shooting up from the grave. While it didn’t provide much insight as to what fans can expect from the album musically, it hints at themes of resurrection on top of death itself. In the recently released “Tobey” music video, for example, viewers got to see Eminem going at his iconic alter ego with a chainsaw. This new teaser suggests that he’ll certainly be making a comeback on the new album, and fans can’t wait.

The Death Of Slim Shady Drops July 12

The trailer follows the recent unveiling of the project’s cover art, which shows Slim Shady peaking out of a partially zipped body bag. It also arrives after Eminem unveiled the tracklist, only building additional anticipation. He left fans guessing when it comes to features, though a seemingly leaked tracklist that surfaced online last week suggests that there could be plenty. Apple Music is rumored to have shared the tracklist by accident while making the album available for pre-save, inadvertently unveiling appearances from J Cole, JID, Black Thought, Tech N9ne, Ez Mil, and more

This is unconfirmed at the time of writing, though it left fans all the more eager to hear what Em has up his sleeve. What do you think of Eminem teasing his upcoming album with a spooky new trailer? Are you looking forward to hearing The Death Of Slimy Shady? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Kendrick Lamar Surpasses Drake Yet Again With “Not Like Us” Video Views

Kendrick Lamar finally unveiled his eagerly anticipated “Not Like Us” music video last week, and so far, it’s been a major success. At the time of writing, the Easter egg-packed visual has racked up a whopping 40 million views on YouTube, which is certainly no lousy feat. For reference, Drake’s “Family Matters” music video is currently sitting at 35 million, despite being released back in May.

This only adds to Kendrick’s long list of wins amid his viral lyrical battle with Drizzy. It doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise either, as the track is widely believed to be the one that crowned him the winner. Fans had been waiting to see what he’d come up with since he was spotted filming in Compton last month. Clearly, they weren’t disappointed with the results.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Music Video Earns Over 40 Million Views

This is far from Kendrick’s only explosive moment of recent weeks, however. The Compton-born performer also celebrated Juneteenth with his “Pop Out” show at the Forum in LA joined by several high-profile special guests. This was the first time supporters got to see live renditions of Drake disses like “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us,” which he performed several times in a row with the help of his celebrity peers.

As for Drizzy, he’s been keeping a low profile as of late aside from a few features and vague posts. He did attend Michael Rubin’s annual white party recently though, and photos surfaced online shortly after the event. Reportedly, the DJ steered clear of any Kendrick tracks throughout the evening, likely making things less awkward for everyone involved. What do you think of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” music video surpassing Drake’s “Family Matters” music video? Are you surprised or not? Are you a fan of the video? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Eminem’s “Tobey” Slots In At #95 On The Billboard Hot 100

Eminem did not pull off a magic trick number’s wise with “Tobey” like he did with “Houdini”, but the latest single still earns a spot on the Billboard Hot 100. According to the latest refresh of the charts on Tuesday, The Death of Slim Shady cut barely cracks the list at #95. In comparison, “Houdini” debuted at number two. That made it the highest charting single for Em since his 2013 collab with Rihanna, “The Monster”. While you could argue that “Tobey” is a better track overall than its predecessor, the former does possess some key traits.

For starters, the track in nearly a minute shorter, with the lead-off track clocking in at 3:47. Typically, songs around that length do better on the charts overall. Additionally, “Houdini” is a catchier tune, especially on the chorus. While BabyTron’s on “Tobey” is still very good, it comes across clunkier flow wise. Regardless, though, Eminem charting consecutively is a great accomplishment, and it would not be surprising if it climbed up higher once the album drops Friday, July 12.

A post shared by Billboard Charts (@billboardcharts)

Speaking of the project, things are really falling in place for it. Over the last couple of days, Eminem has given us the symbolic cover art, as well as the official tracklist. The latter was leaked prior on Apple Music, showing off the potential features. However, it has since been replaced with song titles and hidden guests. Some call back to previous tracks during the peak of the Slim Shady era and there are 19 in total.

What are your thoughts on “Tobey” by Eminem, Big Sean, and BabyTron placing at #95 on the Billboard Hot 100? Are you surprised by its initial ranking, why or why not? Do you expect the single to climb up the list as the days progress? Is it your favorite of the two album cuts we have? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Eminem.
