G Herbo recently took part in a dating competition hosted by No Luv Mar, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he was able to find his special someone. The rapper chatted with various women in hopes of recruiting a partner, but ultimately decided that none of them were a match. It seems as though he learned the lesson that yelling at potential mates doesn’t typically pan out.
During the contest, one of the women approached him, asking the simple question of where he’s from. The Chicago native got pretty offended that she didn’t already know, popping off on her as a result. “You ain’t look up nothing?” he asked. “Bye! How the f*ck you don’t know where I’m from and you talking to me… Get the f*ck on, bye!”
It looks like the rapper met his match, but not quite the kind he was looking for. The woman didn’t take kindly to his rant, firing back with a handful of quips and making it clear that she wouldn’t be tolerating his disrespect. “You could get the f*ck on!” she responded. “How the hell am I supposed to know where the f*ck you from? Don’t nobody know about you. Ain’t nobody looking sh*t up. Fuck you, n***a. Light-skin a**. You look like Latto with your light-skin a**. Why your hairline so far back?”
Luckily for G Herbo, he may be closer than every to finding the one, as he’s recently undergone quite the makeover. The 28-year-old just secured his “million dollar smile,” stopping by the dentist to get some new veneers. Overall, the 2024 Grammy Nominees have already led to a lot of debates on social media. Of course, this always happens whenever the Grammys roll around. People want their favorites to get nominated. However, that is not always going to be possible. Only so many artists can be nominated for a given body of work, and there are some stans who just need to get over that. Having said this, there are some categories that the Grammys got right over others.
One category that people are always looking at is the Album Of The Year section. This is always the most expansive category and features artists from a diverse array of genres. She has had an incredible year, and with nine nominations going into the evening, she will have plenty of chances to come out on top. Hopefully, she gets the proper recognition that she deserves.

The late ‘90s saw the rise of many Hip Hop artists. While some gifted MCs flew under the radar, Trick Daddy enjoyed some time in the spotlight. The MC is a Miami native and was a prominent force in Southern hip-hop from the late ‘90s until the late 2000s. He achieved considerable success with several of his albums, and one of the most notable amongst them is definitely www.thug.com. His sophomore album is now remarkably 25 years old. The album explored Trick Daddy’s experiences in a raw fashion. Trick Daddy has always shared his experiences, and he did so in raw fashion on the project. While it may not be regarded as his best album, it is certainly a significant entry in Trick’s catalog.
Trick Daddy Gains Momentum

www.thug.com dropped in 1998 at a time when Trick Daddy was gaining recognition in the Southern Hip Hop scene. The album’s title is a play on the growing influence of the internet on popular culture at the time. Also, during the late ‘90s, Southern Hip Hop was experiencing a significant rise in popularity. Artists from cities like Atlanta, New Orleans, and Miami were beginning to make their mark on the genre. Concurrently, Trick Daddy emerged, eventually establishing himself as a prominent figure in Miami’s Hip Hop scene, representing the city’s unique sound and culture. www.thug.com was released on September 22, 1998, through Slip-N-Slide Records. A Miami-based label, Slip-N-Slide was known for its focus on representing the Southern lifestyle and sound. Their relationship with Trick Daddy was a testament to this approach, and so was www.thug.com itself.
Trick Daddy’ Enlists A Small Trusted Circle: Crafting An Album
Between the producers and featured artists, Trick Daddy enlisted a tight team of collaborators to create www.thug.com. The input of each collaborator built the album up to become what it is today. Several producers contributed to the album’s dynamic sound, and they all played a significant role in shaping the musical landscape of the album. Tony Galvin, Darren “DJ Spin” Rudnick, The Committee, and Rush are among the producers credited on the album. The production style was also characteristic of Southern Hip Hop, incorporating elements of Miami bass, funk, and soul music. Altogether, this blend of musical influences decided the album’s sonic direction.
Furthermore, www.thug.com featured a host of guest appearances on several of its tracks. “Nann N***a,” the album’s sole single, features Trina. Furthermore, “So What” features Lost Tribe, and Tre+6 appears on both “Change My Life” and “Run N***a.” Additionally, J-Shin appears in “Hold On,” Society And The Children’s Choir on “Living In A World,” and C.O. from Tre+6 on “Suckin’ F***in’.”
www.thug.com greatly showcases Trick Daddy’s gritty and raw style. Also, his storytelling abilities were prominent throughout the album, giving listeners a glimpse into the realities of life in Miami’s urban neighborhoods. With his lyrics, Trick Daddy explored themes such as street life, violence, and poverty, in many ways chronicling his own life. Even though it took a village, Trick Daddy was the star of the show.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, www.thug.com went on to peak at number 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. In addition to its notable chart success, it is also an RIAA Gold-certified album. Moreover, www.thug.com played a crucial role in establishing Trick Daddy as a leading voice in Southern Hip Hop. Its success also paved the way for Trick’s future albums and collaborations, solidifying his reputation as an influential artist in the genre. Trick Daddy has not released an album since 2009’s Finally Famous: Born A Thug, Still A Thug. However, he has starred in Love & Hip Hop: Miami since 2018. While it’s possible that he may be done with music, www.thug.com, as well as his other works, will showcase his talents for ages to come.
NBA YoungBoy’s mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, recently went live on Instagram with one of her son’s fans. What Gaulden didn’t know is that the fan does a killer impression of YoungBoy, which quickly managed to leave her jaw-dropped. In a new clip from the live, she’s seen chatting with the talented fan, who even had her convinced that he was playing a recording of him.

YoungBoy’s mother was all smiles during her recent livestream, however, the rapper seems to be going through a bit of a rough patch. Last week, he cited his mental health in a request to adjust the terms of his house arrest. “Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight and sleep. [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation,” a statement from his lawyer reads. The 50th anniversary of hip-hop has fans and musicians on high alert for glaring snubs by award ceremonies and more looking to celebrate the genre. So, today’s (November 10) 2024 Grammy Awards nomination broadcast had everyone locked in. Unfortunately, according to online communities, who are already in an uproar, the Grammys dropped the ball.

Following the success of the first season of The Rap Game, Season 2 involved a lot of anticipation and excitement about which teen was going to be the next rap star. This season also included more contestants than the previous season, so naturally, the stakes were high and the competition was strong. Each week, the contestants put their best foot forward for the chance to sign with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Label. While Mani was the winner of the second season, there were many contestants with great potential. Let’s see how far The Rap Game stars have come and what they are currently doing with their lives past season 2.
Mani (Amir Mitchell-Townes)
Not long after winning The Rap Game season 2, Mani released a debut single, “You Thought,” produced by Jermaine Dupri and featuring Phresh Ali, Latto & Deetranada. He remained active online and later, created his own record label, Fly City Entertainment, in 2016. In 2020, Mani released another single, “Get It,” after changing his stage name to Mani Da Don. The following year, he put out his debut album, Had A Talk Wit Da Streets, And I Forgive You. The South Central LA native has thousands of views on YouTube and an active following on Instagram, where he keeps his fans updated about his music. Finally, his latest single, “Brrkin & Heelz,” has more than 20,000 views on YouTube already.
Even before starring in Season 2 of The Rap Game, Lil Key music began making waves across Baltimore and the country. Lil Key originally became famous after the release of his 2013 mixtape, My Life Vol. 1. After starring in the show, he continued doing what he had always done – making music and remaining involved with his community. While the Baltimore-based rapper has not released a full album since he left the show, he has released multiple songs that have gone on to gather thousands of streams on various platforms. Some of his most popular songs are “Dub,” “Love 2 Hate Me,” and “Close Friends” ft. Luh Kel. Moreover, Lil Key maintains a following of over 400k on Instagram. His latest single, “Days Like This,” has thousands of views on YouTube.
Nia Kay (Nia Kay Neal)
Nia Kay is one of the contestants who have become even more popular after the show. Since finishing The Rap Game season 2, she has released multiple singles with millions of streams on Spotify and YouTube Music. The Duchess Of Chicago, as she is popularly called, released her first project in 2018– the EP Duchess. Some of her most streamed songs are, “Ignored,” “Go Best Friend,” and “Yeah H*e.” She also has about 1.5 million followers on Instagram, where she regularly uploads snippets of her music, and shows her progress as an artist.
J.I The Prince of NY (Justin Irvin Rivera)
J.I The Prince Of NY is another contestant who has made a name for himself in the rap scene. However, the New York-based rapper of Puerto Rican descent took a hiatus from rap after The Rap Game. Nonetheless, he came back even stronger in 2019, releasing a mixtape, Hood Life Krisis, Vol. 1. The following year, he followed up with Welcome To GStarr Vol. 1. Today, he has multiple projects that have done quite well. His biggest single so far, “Need Me,” has over 200 million plays across multiple platforms. Furthermore, he has collaborated with top artists like Lil Tjay, Lil Durk, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. “Need Me” also received an RIAA platinum certification in May 2021.
Jayla Marie hasn’t released a lot of music since concluding season 2 of The Rap Game. Regardless, she maintains a following of over 500k on Instagram and has 182k subscribers on YouTube, where she released several covers. On Instagram, she shares her latest music but also posts general lifestyle content, including fitness content. Her latest single, “Summer Crush,” has thousands of streams on Spotify and YouTube Music.
Mini Barbie (Manariah Nicole White)
Mini Barbie has not been involved in making music in a while outside of the release of 2021’s “Ruthless”. However, she has rebranded as a fashion entrepreneur on Instagram. The Atlanta-based entrepreneur and model regularly posts pictures of herself on social media and publicizes her business on various platforms. So far, she has amassed almost a million followers on Instagram and frequently collaborates with fashion businesses.
Tally Raps (Talia Sagginario)
Tally Raps is another former contestant who isn’t making a lot of music nowadays. According to her Instagram account, she recently got married and went to Mexico for her honeymoon. She’s also into beauty and fashion. In the past, Tally Raps made a lot of covers alongside her sister, Jasmine Sagginario. Together, they formed 2XO, an R&B group, and have released songs like “Summer Love” and “Blame It on You.”
The iconic G-Funk emerged in the early ‘90s, pioneered by acts like Dr. Dre, N.W.A., and Warren G. The Dove Shack made their appearance further down the decade. While the group cannot be regarded as originators of the genre, they certainly contributed to its development in the late ‘90s. Moreover, their debut album, This Is the Shack, helped push the sound further, solidifying the presence of G-Funk.
One-third of the trio, C-Knight, unfortunately passed away on November 7, 2023, due to complications of a stroke. The rapper’s death is certainly a blow to his family and friends. Rest in peace to the Long Beach legend. Although The Dove Shack is far from its early days in the mid-’90s, we’re looking back at one of the most exciting underground G-Funk groups of rap’s Golden Era.
Putting The Dove Shack Together
The Dove Shack was formed in the early 1990s in Long Beach, California. At its inception, the group members included Bo-Rock, 2Scoops, and the late C-Knight. All three members grew up with an ardent interest in Hip Hop and soon found themselves rapping together. Long Beach, a significant hub for West Coast Hip Hop, played a crucial role in bringing them together. Equally, the hub helped in shaping the group’s musical style.
It was through their affiliation with Warren G’s label, G-Funk Entertainment, that the group first gained recognition in 1995. Even back then, it took a lot to grasp listeners’ attention. Especially considering that many burgeoning rap stars were rising in the scene. With this in mind, it’s apparent that Warren G’s help was indispensable to The Dove Shack.
Warren G, a prominent figure in Hip Hop, contributed to the group’s early success by collaborating with them on “This Is the Shack.” The song was featured on Warren’s debut album Regulate… G Funk Era, and helped introduce listeners to The Dove Shack. Subsequently, the trio released their first album under G-Funk Entertainment, marking a proper entry into the Hip Hop industry.
This Is The Shack & More
Following their feature on Warren G’s track “This Is the Shack,” the group dropped their debut album of the same name. It was released on August 22, 1995, and peaked at No. 68 on the Billboard 200 chart. While it received mixed reviews from critics, it certainly had a few standout tracks that got shoutouts nonetheless. The most acclaimed track on the project was “Summertime in the LBC” ft. Arnita Porter, which was also the lead single. It received praise from critics and climbed to No. 54 on the Hot 100 chart.
“Summertime in the LBC” became a West Coast anthem, showcasing the group’s smooth style and laidback flow. The Dove Shack did not release any other projects in the ‘90s. Their sophomore album, Reality Has Got Me Tied Up, was released over a decade later, in 2006. This album featured guest appearances from Nate Dogg, Goldie Loc, and Kam, among others. However, it unfortunately did not achieve the same level of success as the first album. While all three group members went on to release solo projects between 2001 and 2015, Reality Has Got Me Tied Up was their last project as The Dove Shack.

Despite their limited commercial success, The Dove Shack undeniably impacted G-Funk in the late ‘90s. Additionally, their music resonates with fans who appreciate their laidback style and catchy beats. Although the group’s mainstream success was limited to their earlier years, they will always be remembered by fans of classic West Coast Hip Hop.
The list of 2024 Grammy nominees arrived today, with various hip hop artists taking the lead. SZA comes out on top with the most nominations overall, with her hit track “Kill Bill” and her second studio album SOS receiving several nods. Drake & 21 Savage and Killer Mike are leading the pack in the rap genre, landing nominations for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album.
Drake & 21 Savage’s joint album Her Losshas gotten them nominated for Best Rap Album, with their track “Rich Flex” scoring nominations for Best Rap Performance as well as Best Rap Song. Killer Mike’s Michael is similarly nominated for Best Rap Album, with his André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane-assisted track “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” in the running for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
Other nominees include Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice, for their fan-favorite collab from the Barbie soundtrack, “Barbie World.”Travis Scott also received a nod for his chart-topping LP Utopia.
