In the few short years of Abbott Elementary‘s award-winning run on television, the show has already had an impressive slate of guest stars, including Vince Staples, Zack Fox, Philadelphia 76ers star Andre Iguodala, Philly area native Bradley Cooper, and even Flyers mascot Gritty. The latest Philadelphian celebrity to feature on the show? None other than The Roots’ Questlove, who popped up to support Ava-fest, Janelle James’ principal character’s narcisstic spin on open house. Amir came through in the clutch for Ava after she built up her legend as a close personal friend of the drummer who credited herself for co-founding the Roots — much to her coworkers’ skeptical chagrin.

Quest’s appearance came during a season in which the show’s profile has skyrocketed; in addition to Cooper, other well-known celebrities to stop by the fictional elementary school this season have included legendary actress Cree Summer — a major influence on television as the voice of basically every Black cartoon character of the ’90s and early 2000s — Tatyana Ali, best known for her role as Ashley on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, and Eagles players Jason Kelce, Jalen Hurts, and Brandon Graham, who appeared in the season premiere via video chat for a failed romantic bid by a supporting character.

Questlove seemed pretty amused by the flurry of messages he received when the episode aired on the east coast, and social media was flooded with fans’ delight at his much-teased, semi-unlikely (but pretty much guaranteed) appearance. Now, we just need to see about getting Sexyy Red that cameo…

Rihanna Confirms That ASAP Rocky Is Working On Her New Album

Rihanna has really tested the patience of her fans. The pop star’s last album was in 2016, as she has focused on acting, fashion, and motherhood in the years since. Fortunately, Rihanna seems to be back in album mode. She performed at Super Bowl LVII, and she talked about the making of her upcoming album during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Not only did the pop star confirm she had “hits” on deck, but she revealed that one of her main collaborators is ASAP Rocky.

Rihanna attended the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone launch event on April 17. It was during the red carpet event that ET asked her about her upcoming album, and the singer was surprisingly forthright with information. “I already got stuff that I feel like I could make hits out of,” she told the outlet. She also sidestepped the rumor that her sons, RZA and Riot, will appear on the album by saying “It’s up to them.” The biggest reveal came, however, when Rihanna talked about the father of her children.

She confirmed that ASAP Rocky was working on the album by saying they’ve debated which songs to include on which of their albums. “Me and Rocky are really trying to figure out who’s gonna use what because it’s so good,” she reasoned.

Rihanna Is Rumored To Be On Rocky’s New Album

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky collaborating is exciting, if not unexpected. The couple have been dating since 2019, but the hiatuses both artists have taken means they weren’t together when they released their last albums, respectively. ASAP Rocky hasn’t dropped since Testing in 2018. Rihanna and Rocky have never been on a song together, either, despite the former appearing in the music video for Rocky’s “Fashion Killa” in 2011.

It makes sense that Rihanna and ASAP Rocky would collaborate on their comebacks, which is something Rocky discussed with Complex. “I’m always down to collab with my partner,” he confirmed. “[Rihanna] is a phenomenal creative. There’s a lot of things we’re going to collaborate on, from products for children.” Neither artist has a release date in mind, but it sounds like wait will be worth it.

Kanye West Named Prime Suspect In LA Battery Case

Kanye West can’t seem to stay away from controversy. The Chicago rapper has been named the prime suspect in a battery case involving a Los Angeles man. According to TMZ, West punched the man in the face after he pushed and/or shoved West’s wife, Bianca Censori. The couple fled the scene afterwards, and will be questioned by the police alongside several key witnesses. The altercation reportedly took place on Tuesday, April 16.

TMZ confirms that the man in question did not have to receive medical treatment for his injuries. This is not the first time that Kanye West has been connected to battery charges. He was sued for assault and battery in January after a fan asked for an autograph on the street. The “Carnival” rapper allegedly said he was going to make a “f**king example” out of the fan, and struck him several times. The fan claimed he was “severely injured” as a result.

West was hit with battery charges the same exact month, when he got into an altercation with an LA photographer. The rapper accused the woman of following him and proceeded to snatch her cell phone from her hand before throwing it into the street.

West’s latest battery case comes hot on the heels of his controversial Disneyland visit. The rapper went to the “Happiest Place on Earth” with his wife on April 16, but Censori’s wardrobe let to outcry from fans. Censori wore bandages on her feet instead of shoes as the duo traversed through the amusement park with their entourage. The bandages were technically in compliance with Disneyland’s dress code, which prohibits bare feet, but fans online were still puzzled. West and Censori have drawn repeated criticisms for their fashion choices, with some blaming the former’s “controlling” nature.

West has repeatedly deflected criticisms of his public behavior. In February, the rapper hopped on Instagram Live to talk about his relationship with Censori. “Ima post my wife as much as I want bro,” he told viewers. “It makes me happy. Some people don’t want you to be happy, they want you to make them happy I decided to make myself happy and I’m happy with that.”

West’s team has not released a statement regarding the battery case.

Rob49 And Skilla Baby Will Prove That ‘Vultures Eat The Most’ On Their 2024 Co-Headlining Tour

All the way back in March 2022, Rob49 told Uproxx about his favorite spots in New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans-bred rapper will have an opportunity to visit them all when his and Skilla Baby’s newly announced co-headlining Vultures Eat The Most Tour rolls through the Smoothie King Center on June 15.

According to a press release, this will be Rob49 and Skilla Baby’s first time touring together. The 17-date North American trek will open on May 30 in Orlando, Florida. The aforementioned New Orleans concert on June 15 — doubling as Rob49’s third annual Vulture Island Experience — will stage surprise guests such as Baby Drill, Polo G, Hunxho, No Cap, and YTB Fatt.

Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Friday, April 19, through the tour’s official website. The press release also states, “Pre-sale tickets will go live on Thursday, April 18, through each city’s promoter.”

Rihanna teased new music, and the sky is blue. Famously, Rihanna has not released an album since 2016’s ANTI. Yes, she sort of fed her fans’ insatiable appetite with two 2022 singles for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, and yes, she performed the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February 2023. Regardless, the seemingly never-ending wait for a new Rihanna album persists. When will Rihanna actually drop new music? Who knows. But Rihanna seems to really enjoy teasing that she might drop new music at any moment.

On Wednesday, April 17, Rihanna attended the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone launch event in London. While there, she was asked about whether there were “any plans to have RZA and Riot” on her next album by Entertainment Tonight.

“It’s up to them,” Rihanna said. For reference, Rihanna shares RZA and Riot with ASAP Rocky. RZA will turn two in May, and Riot was born last August. So, if Rihanna is waiting for her sons to become old enough to make a conscious decision about wanting to be featured artists on her next album, fans will be waiting awhile.

With Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna continued to play coy about a release date (“I wanna know, too”) and teased the material she has in the vault.

“I already got stuff that I feel like I could make hits out of,” Rihanna told the outlet. “Me and Rocky are really trying to figure out who’s gonna use what because it’s so good.”

GloRilla Was Reportedly Arrested For DUI And Suffered A Wardrobe Malfunction During A Field Sobriety Test

GloRilla was busy online promoting “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion on Wednesday, April 17, so nothing seemed amiss. However, according to TMZ, GloRilla was “arrested and booked […] on suspicion of driving under the influence, consuming and possessing an open alcoholic beverage container, and a separate traffic charge” in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

TMZ obtained the police report, which details that the platinum-certified rapper born Gloria Woods was taken to jail at 6:12 a.m. on Tuesday morning, April 16, but “bonded out a few hours later.” GloRilla suffered “a wardrobe malfunction.” When police wanted GloRilla to submit to a breathalyzer, which GloRilla reportedly “refused,” her “breast slipped out from under her clothes.”

GloRilla had initially been pulled over by police around 4 a.m. EST because she was spotted “making a U-turn at a solid red traffic light.” The reporting police officer claimed GloRilla’s car smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and while GloRilla allegedly admitted that she had been drinking earlier in the evening, “she wouldn’t say how much she’d consumed and insisted she was good to drive.”

The police report states that a field sobriety test was administered, including “the eye-follow test, the walk-and-turn, one-leg balance,” and asking GloRilla to walk in a straight line. As per TMZ, “the cops claim she bombed” most of these sobriety tests and especially struggled with “staying on her feet.”

As of this writing, GloRilla has not publicly commented on this matter.

Drake Posts Photo Of Kendrick Lamar’s Manager With OVO Merch

The trolling continues. Drake impressed the hip-hop world with his diss “Push Ups,” and has kept the momentum going by clowning his enemies on Instagram. He posted a Drumline meme to mock Metro Boomin, a screenshot to make fun of Rick Ross, and now he’s turned his attention back to his main foe: Kendrick Lamar. Drake posted a photo of Lamar’s current manager, Anthony Saleh, in an unflattering situation. It’s never good to be seen rocking the merch of a rival, and yet, that’s exactly what Saleh did. The photo sees the manager carrying a bag emblazoned with Drake’s OVO logo.

Drake rubbed salt in the wound by adding a caption. “We getting in our bag or nah?,” he mockingly asked Saleh. The caption is a double entendre, referencing both the metaphorical bag that Lamar needs to be in to respond to “Push Ups,” and the literal OVO back that K. Dot’s manager is carrying. It’s worth noting that the year the photo was taken is unclear, and likely predates Saleh’s union with Lamar. Saleh became Lamar’s manager in 2021, shortly before the rapper launched his company pgLang.

Saleh may not have the fame of other hip-hop managers, but he executive produced Nas’ self-titled album in 2008. He also negotiated multi-million dollar endorsement deals for the Queens rapper.

Drake Keeps Pushing Kendrick Lamar For A Response

Drake has repeatedly made Anthony Saleh a target on social media. On April 16, the rapper posted a photo of Saleh on his IG Story with turtle emojis. “Wonder if today is the day,” he wrote, referencing his impatience for a Kendrick Lamar response track. Drake’s fixation on Lamar’s management extends to the aforementioned “Push Ups,” where he clowned Lamar for signing a bad deal. Drake claims the Compton emcee split half of his earnings with Top Dawg Entertainment, which inspired the “drop and give me 50” line in the song’s chorus.

A snippet of an alleged Kendrick Lamar diss leaked on April 15. Fans debated whether or not the leak was real, but TikTok producer Sy The Rapper eventually claimed credit for making the song. Lamar hasn’t yet responded to “Push Ups” in an official capacity. Until he does, he can expect Drake to continue to pester him and Saleh on Instagram.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the track “Pi” received some backlash. J. Cole delivers verses that have stirred controversy due to his potentially insensitive content. In one segment, Cole’s lyrics raise questions, as they could be interpreted as containing casual transphobic undertones. He raps, “Is you a demon or is that demeanor for the ‘Gram? Tell us/They plead the fifth, I’m seeing hints of a trans fella/In cancel culture’s vicinity, he’s no killer, trust me/Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a pussy, period.” However, only time will tell if he plans on clearing it up or not.
