All signs point toward a Dua Lipa album sooner than later. The UK pop supernova already dropped “Houdini,” fitting perfectly within the “psychedelic-pop vibe” expected from her forthcoming third LP. This morning, December 11, Mad Cool Festival unveiled its 2024 lineup, with Lipa headlining alongside the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Janelle Monáe, Pearl Jam, Jessie Ware, Sum 41, Bring Me The Horizon, and Avril Lavigne. Other notable performers include Uproxx’s August 2023 cover star Ashnikko, Arlo Parks, Greta Van Vleet, Kenya Grace, Genesis Owusu, and The Gaslight Anthem.

The annual festival will take place from Wednesday, July 10 to Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

According to Mad Cool’s official website, there will be a pre-sale for Santander customers beginning tomorrow, December 12, at 12 p.m. local time and running through Thursday, December 15, at 11:59 a.m. local time. “As well as announcing the first names set to appear at next year’s installment, the organizers at Mad Cool have also announced ways that it will be making improvements across the site to improve the overall attendee experience,” NME relayed. “This includes a reduction in the number of stages, going from eight to six, as well as a general reduction in public capacity. These look to improve flows within the festival and reduce schedule conflicts and artist overlaps.”

Doja Cat Will Headline The Rock In Rio 2024 Festival In Lisbon

In June, Doja Cat will paint Lisbon, Portugal red with rhymes. Today (December 8), the “Attention” rapper has been announced as the latest headliner for Rock In Rio 2024. The festival is slated to occur across the second and third weekend in June. So far, several of the event’s highlighted acts have been announced. However, Doja Cat’s attendance marks a momentous occasion for more reasons than one.

Firstly, this is Doja Cat’s first time playing in the event. Also, her playing on June 23, 2024 gives her the honor of closing out the festival. In a statement, Roberta Medina, the Executive Vice President of Rock in Rio, spoke about the notable occasion: “To have Doja Cat headlining our lineup for the first time in Portugal is a privilege! It’s going to be four days of great joy to recharge the energy of everyone who passes through the City of Rock. As you can see from the names already announced, we’ve got rock, pop, hip-hop… music for the most mature to the youngest.”

Other performers on the lineup include Scorpions and Evanescence on June 15. Ed Sheeran, Calum Scott, and Jão will perform the following day. Doja Cat, Camila Cabello, Luísa Sonza, and Pedro Sampaio will perform on June 23. No entertainers have been announced for June 22 as of yet.

Big Ears Festival Announced The Daily Lineups For Its 2024 Showcase

In September, Big Ears Festival announced its massive lineup for 2024, headlined by Herbie Hancock, Rhiannon Giddens, Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker, Laurie Anderson, and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones. Even more artists have been unveiled since then, and now, Big Ears has confirmed which lineup can be expected on each day between Thursday, March 21, and Sunday, March 24, 2024 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The March 21 lineup is headlined by Lenker and Charles Lloyd, while Laurie Anderson & Sexmob, Giddens, and Jones will head up the following day. March 23’s lineup is led by Hancock, Kronos Quartet, and Digable Planets, while Jon Batiste and Silk Road Ensemble (with Giddens) will lead the charge on the final day. Each day will feature acts curated by Professor King Britt as part of a new partnership between Big Ears and Britt’s “Blacktronika: Afrofuturism In Electronic Music” course at the University Of California.

Festival passes are on sale now here. As of this writing, most have sold out, including the 4-Day Sonic Explorer and 4-Day Premier options. 4-Day Weekend passes are still available in Tier 1 ($400 plus fees) and Tier 2 ($450 plus fees). Single-day passes — regular and premier — for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday are also still available.

The good news for those who’d prefer to space out their spending is that layaway is available. Plans start at just $25 down for the general admission level, then for subsequent levels rise to $50, $100, and $200.

Sol Blume was initially scheduled to happen this April, but flooding in Sacramento forced the preeminent R&B festival to postpone until August. Performances from the likes of Chlöe, Coco Jones, Kehlani, and Teyana Taylor proved worth the wait, and now, the fest is preparing to go bigger than ever to celebrate its fifth anniversary next year.

As per a press release on Wednesday, November 29, Sol Blume will return to Discovery Park in Sacramento, California from May 3 to May 5, 2024, marking the festival’s first-ever three-day staging. An Instagram post also promised “bigger stages, more food and beverage options, new experiences, the return of ‘Sol Skate,’ and a new GA+ pass experience.”
