The Fayetteville rapper/singer hits the hook, “Hey Ma, it’s your baby. You prayed, I made,” over buzzy piano chords and hard-hitting 808’s. Morray’s 2020 breakout single “Quicksand” also leaned toward the soulful spirit.

Morray Takes A Moment To Shower His Mom With Praise On The Endearing ‘Momma’s Love’

North Carolina rapper Morray has a lot to be thankful for nowadays. His career took an upward turn at the end of 2020 with the release of his breakout single “Quicksand.” The record gave him the launching pad to deliver a full-length project to the world, something he did in the spring of 2021 with Street Sermons. He later earned a spot on the 2021 XXL Freshman Class which came after he began touring with J. Cole and 21 Savage for the former’s The Off Season tour. With all that’s happened to him, Morray is taking a moment to thank one of his biggest supporters with a new song.

Morray returns with his latest release, “Momma’s Love,” and as you can tell from the song’s title, it’s a record dedicated to his mother. It’s a well-timed release as the song arrives just two days before Mother’s Day, and on it, Morray showers his mother with praise while thanking her for all that she did for him. “My pop wasn’t ’round, my momma gave me examples,” he sings on the new track. “Never had a man to show me things, she gave me some samples.”

The new track arrives after Morray treated his fans with a collection of collaborations. First, he teamed up with Tyla Yaweh for “Hands Up,” then came “Never Fail” with Benny The Butcher, and most recently was “Still Rise” with Cordae.

“It ain’t the same in this world / But I’m still here / Gotta be strong as I can / Hiding all these fears / Being stuck in the chains for so many years / But I gotta play the game cuz I’m holding all of these tears.”

Morray And Cordae Refuse To Back Down On The Reaffirming ‘Still Here’

North Carolina rapper Morray released “Quicksand” at the end of 2020 and it ended up being the song that launched him into the national spotlight. Since then, he’s released his debut project Street Sermons, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, toured with J. Cole and 21 Savage, and earned a spot in the 2021 XXL Freshman Class. It’s all amounted to a successful year for Morray and he seems prepared to start the next chapter of her career. He returns with his first release of 2022 which pairs him with Cordae.

The two rappers bring their talents together for “Still Here,” a track that arrives as a consistent reminder to overcome all the odds in front of them as they’ve been able to do just that in the past. The song is also delivered with a matching video that sees Morray enjoying time with friends when’s unfortunately arrested which leaves him another obstacle to overcome. It’s a strong follow-up to “Never Fail,” which Morray released with Benny The Butcher at the end of last year. Prior to that, he connected with Tyla Yaweh for “Hands Up.”

As for Cordae, he’s fresh off the release of his second album From A Birds Eye View. That project delivered 14 songs and features from Gunna, Lil Wayne, HER, Lil Durk, Freddie Gibbs, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Roddy Ricch, and Ant Clemons.
