Sematary Returns With New EP “King Of The Graveyard”

Sematary is back just in time for October with a new EP, King Of The Graveyard. He kicked things off right with the EP’s lead single last week, giving fans a taste of what was to come. The single is joined by a haunting accompanying music video which takes place in, you guessed it, a graveyard.

The 22-year-old performer is seen dancing along to the unapologetically spooky track, fittingly adorned with a crown while he waves around a weapon. Heavy production meets distorted vocals and ghoulish ad-libs, making the track the perfect addition to Halloween playlists everywhere. The new EP follows Sematary’s collab with Blp Kosher which he dropped off in June, “Huntin Wabbits.” It also follows his January release, Butcher House. The 12-track project saw features from Buckshot, Hackle, Turnabout and more.

Sematary Gets Spooky With New EP

He also tapped Turnabout for his new King Of The Graveyard EP, teaming up with the 19-year-old producer for “3AM Gang.” Sematary stays true to his roots with this latest project, combining menacing lyrics with gothic themes and reminding listeners that he’s a true “grave man.”

Sematary chatted with Complex at Summer Smash back in June, revealing that the highlight of his year so far has been landing a Chief Keef feature. “I got a Sosa feature on my song,” he told the outlet. “With Zac FTP for the FTP album. It’s called ‘F*ck The World.’ I got Chief Keef on my sh*t, so no one can ever say sh*t about me now. Like he made all of this, there ain’t no any of this without him. I can’t even put it into words.” What do you think of King Of The Graveyard? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Sematary.

Jeezy’s Entire Mixtape Discography Now On Streaming Services

Jeezy turned 46 on Thursday (September 28), and it turns out that the celebration involved him giving us gifts, and not the other way around. Moreover, after his decades in the game and legendary tape runs, his full mixtape catalog became available on all major streaming services. This means that all of the trap rap icon’s 13 mixtapes, from his Gangsta Grillz collaborations and beyond, are now on services like TIDAL, Apple Music, Spotify, and more. For the most part, this is the first time that platforms like these have ever hosted this material.

If you’re unfamiliar with the now-46-year-old’s work, this section of his discog includes The Real Is Back 1 and 2, The Prime Minister, 1000 Grams, Trappin’ Ain’t Dead, and many more. Furthermore, Jeezy took to Instagram to commemorate the occasion. “It’s a real one’s birthday!” the Atlanta MC expressed on the social media platform. “I appreciate all the G-Day love and I have a gift for my day ones. 13 classics available now on all streaming platforms for the first time ever! Today we celebrate!”

Jeezy Celebrates His Birthday By Putting All His Mixtapes On Streaming

Of course, if you’re well-versed in The Snowman’s artistry, you know how significant and important this is to his longevity as an artist in the contemporary age. After all, Jeezy rose to stardom off of the strength of these mixtapes, which he continued to expand upon through his excellent studio album work, too. Regardless of how you look at it, this is a win-win in an age during which he doesn’t get enough flowers from the younger generation. Die-hard listeners can now access the Columbia, South Carolina-born’s entire discography conveniently, and less aware hip-hop fans now have a slew of new material to understand his dominance.

Meanwhile, the CTE World boss has been in the news for other, less celebratory reasons. His divorce from longtime partner Jeannie Mai overtook tabloid headlines as more info continues to emerge. That scandal aside, which mixtape are you most looking forward to revisiting on streaming from his legendary catalog? Let us know in the comments and log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jeezy.

Quavo Demands A Mixtape Outlet On Platforms So Artists Can Release More New Music

Quavo may be hot off the release of his latest album Rocket Power, but he’s already prepared to drop more heat. However, the former Migo believes that there isn’t a platform to give fans more music without going through all the label and platform hurdles that singles and studio albums entail. Moreover, he recently took to Twitter to share that he wants a mixtape outlet for DSPs so he doesn’t have to hold back as much as he does. In his message, the Georgia native recalled the days in which tapes from Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Future, and the Migos themselves came out very often, thanks to platforms like DatPiff and others. It’s a complicated situation, but one that artists could surely take upon themselves to address.

“Platforms need a mixtape outlet for US,” Quavo recently tweeted on Friday (September 8). “So we can blitz the market like lil Wayne Gucci future and MIGOS did! tired of holding all this HEATTTT #RocketPower Powered Up. Havin plenty to go back to back to back!” Of course, with the advent of services like Apple Music, they treat every release the same as far as commercial drops. As such, mixtapes are still subject to the same rules as studio treatment, for the most part.

This means that artists like Quavo have to jump through a lot of hoops to share music with fans. There’s publishing and distribution qualms, sample clearance regulations, revenue splits, label approval, and so much more. Sure, you can upload things to YouTube or SoundCloud, but those platforms can’t compare to the prolific and built-in audience that mixtapes garnered via DatPiff about a decade ago. Maybe the trap artist is referring to something else, but that’s the era that statements like these evoke.

Meanwhile, the “Patty Cake” MC is still getting mileage out of Rocket Power, having recently released the music video for “Galaxy.” Maybe in the future, there will be a way for artists to more easily share mixtapes and extra material they want to gift fans. The opportunities and avenues are certainly there; all it takes is the leap. On that note, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Quavo and the mixtape game.

Cam’ron Reveals He Stopped His Crew From Robbing DJ Khaled

Cam’ron took to social media yesterday (August 30), announcing that he has a new mixtape on the way. The Lost Files Vol. 1 is set to arrive on September 8. Alongside the announcement, he also shared a clip of a new track, in which he reveals that he once did DJ Khaled a major solid. According to Cam’ron, his crew was considering robbing the artist, but lucky for him, the New York native stopped them in their tracks. “Old 40th, your g-pass is not that valid/ I swear to God I stopped my young boys from robbing Khaled (another one)/ Cam did!” he rhymes.

It’s unclear when the soon-to-be robbery was set to occur, but regardless, DJ Khaled probably appreciated the favor. In the post, Cam’ron also revealed that Ma$e has finally gotten his publishing rights back from Diddy, after some time. “My n***a murder had to sit this one out,” he wrote. “He just got his publishing back from Puff. Just finished the paper work for that yesterday. Congrats @rsvpmase while he getting his music back in order, I’m dumping my hard drive pause. The lost files vol 1. Sept 8.”

Cam’ron Saved DJ Khaled From A Robbery

The duo also just recently scored a huge deal with Underdog Fantasy for their It Is What It Is podcast. The new deal is expected to expand their network and increase the show’s budget by quite a bit, meaning that fans can likely expect some exciting guests in the near future. In honor of the podcast’s most recent milestone, Killa Cam took to Instagram to share a throwback clip last week.

In the clip, he’s seen purchasing some new equipment to get the show up and running. “It was just an idea, but I believed,” he captioned the clip. It’s clear from the throwback post how far the show has managed to come in less than a year. Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Cam’ron.

Russ Gets Introspective With “Santiago”

Russ gets more vulnerable than ever with his latest project, Santiago. Throughout the 13-track project, the rapper explores his struggles with fame, relationships, family, and more. It features slower tempos and emo-inspired sounds. As Santiago contains no features, fans can concentrate on Russ and his journey. This would be his first project since Chomp 2.5, which he released in May.

The rapper took to Instagram a few months back to announce the project. Russ noted how much the album meant to him and how he had to do some soul-searching for it. “This album represents my mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional journey to my treasure (I talk more about what my treasure is on the album, but it’s symbolized by the pyramid). The journey at times wasn’t and isn’t pretty,” Russ wrote. “I’ve put myself through the ringer and beat myself up quite a bit along the way. The front cover depicts externally what that sort of psychological warfare looks like.”

“Santiago” Symbolizes His Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Journey, He Says

He continued: “I’m really excited. I’m really nervous. SANTIAGO is my journey to self love & self mastery while touching on the obstacles that have provided resistance along the way…feelings of emptiness, inadequacy, imposter syndrome, doubt, anger, shame (to name a few), and ultimately issues from my childhood that have shown up in my adult life. It’s my attempt to understand, navigate, and heal.”

In other related news, Russ discussed why he views Spotify’s “monthly listeners” stat as misleading. “Sat down with Spotify and got to finally debunk wtf monthly listeners actually means,” he wrote on Twitter. In a subsequent post, Russ stated: “I have 10,000,000 people in my active audience out of my 14m monthly listeners. That’s people who go out of their way to listen to my music. The rest is people who heard it on a playlist or Spotify radio etc.. they weren’t actively tryna hear it. This is why I say the monthly listener number is a facade.”

Ciara Drops Off New “CiCi” EP

Ciara is back and more mature than ever. The Grammy-nominated singer and mother of four has reached a new stage in life. So it makes sense her latest project would reflect that journey. On Friday (August 18), Ciara released her new EP, CiCi. The seven-track project features appearances by Chris Brown, Lil Baby, and Bounce icon Big Freedia.

The project is seemingly paying homage to her relationship with Denver Broncos’ Quarterback Russell Wilson. The pair began dating in 2015 and would eventually marry a year later in England. Prior to that, the singer was in a high-profile relationship with Future. The two broke things off in 2014 after dating for one year. They share one son, Baby Future.

This Is Ciara’s First Project Since 2019

CiCi is the Atlanta singer’s first project since 2019’s Beauty Mark. While the project didn’t perform too well, it did spawn a few singles like “Level Up.” The empowering track even started a viral dance challenge. The single peaked at No.59 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No.23 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In other related news, Ciara’s recent maternity shoot has been catching major attention. It’s been said that the singer possibly drew inspiration from Rihanna. The new mother of two has continued to be as fashionable as ever throughout her recent pregnancies.

The move has seemed to people to have a new way to look at motherhood. “CiCi Mama,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. Her photo dump begins with a snapshot of her pretending to answer a vintage, red lip-shaped phone. Ciara’s black and blonde hair was styled in two messy ponytails atop her head. She also layered an abundance of necklaces over her chest. Covering her upper half was a groovy, pink, and orange knit sweatshirt. She was brave enough to don baggy jeans in the August heat with a gothic pair of spike-clad boots. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world.

CiCi Tracklist:

1. How We Roll by Ciara & Chris Brown
2. BRB
3. Low Key
4. Type A Party
5. Forever by Ciara & Lil Baby
6. 2 In Luv
7. Winning by Ciara & Big Freedia)

Logic Drops New Single Sampling Lupe Fiasco And Announces New Mixtape

Logic just released an album earlier this year, but he isn’t done yet. Earlier today he announced a new mixtape coming soon. He took to Instagram to show off the album cover for the new project. In the caption, he confirmed to fans that the project would be called Inglorious Basterd. He also confirmed the release of the first song from the album “Still Pushin’.” The Cleverly titled song is a flip of Lupe Fiasco’s beloved 2006 skateboarding anthem “Kick, Push.” It’s unclear right now if more songs on the record will be reimagined versions of other tracks that inspired Logic.

Fans in the comments were pretty excited for Logic to drop his next tape. “this is the best Logic era since the YS Mixtapes. I feel like he might outshine him self from then ngl. I think I speak on behalf on the RattPack when I say, WE’RE HERE FOR IT, AND WE’RE HYPED!!!!” reads the ecstatic top comment. “RELEASE IT NOWWWW,” cries another fan. Logic also welcomed his second child with Brittany Noell last month. He shared the news on social media and received congratulations from hundreds of fans and fellow celebs alike. Paramount+ Announces New Documentary ‘MIXTAPE’ Feat. Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, DJ Drama & More

Paramount+ Announces New Documentary 'MIXTAPE' Feat. Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, DJ Drama & More

Paramount+ has announced the premiere of MIXTAPE, a new documentary that delves into the influential role of mixtapes in launching hip-hop into mainstream culture. The film will exclusively debut on the streaming service on August 1 in the U.S. and Canada, and on August 2 in the U.K., Australia, Latin America, and Brazil, with additional international markets to follow later in the year.

MIXTAPE tells the story of how hip hop persevered and thrived through mixtapes, with DJs serving as tastemakers and creators of the genre’s sound. The documentary highlights the cultural significance of mixtapes as currency and indicators of being “in the know.”

“Hip-Hop is 50 years old and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate its journey and contextualize its evolution than through the story of the mixtape. Every voice in this film played a critical role, especially the DJs who, as KRS-ONE says beautifully in the film, risked everything to ‘bring us the music’,” said Omar Acosta, director of MIXTAPE.

Producer Tony Touch added, “It’s an honor to be involved in this film and to help tell the real story of the mixtape, its origins, its impact, and its ongoing relevance for the culture.”

The MIXTAPE features interviews with a star-studded lineup of artists and industry figures, including 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Mike Tyson, and more. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Mercury Studios, and Saboteur Media in association with Def Jam Recordings, “MIXTAPE” is directed by Omar Acosta and produced by David Kennedy, Tony Touch, Nick Quested, and Daniel Seliger. The official soundtrack, titled “The Def Tape,” is set to be released in August via Def Jam Recordings.

Lil Wayne And A Who’s-Who Of Mixtape Legends Break Down The Format In Paramount Plus’ ‘Mixtape’ Trailer

What is a mixtape? The answer might be uncertain in 2023 when albums, mixtapes, playlists, and “projects” all seem interchangeable. But Paramount Plus is looking to break down the format with its new documentary, Mixtape. Featuring interviews with mixtape legends like Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, ASAP Rocky, The Game, and many, many more, the doc attempts to define what the mixtape has meant to hip-hop for the past 50 years and track its evolution from actual, physical tapes, to downloads and streams blowing up careers. Check out the trailer above.

The part I find myself looking forward to most is DJ Drama‘s recollection of the 2005 police raid that upended hip-hop’s mixtape subculture after the Recording Industry Association of America became desperate to stem the tide of illegal downloads and rampant bootlegging. Drama was accused of racketeering, which he says in a clip in the Mixtape trailer made him “more famous than I ever was.” (You can read a little bit more about that incident here.)

Mixtape‘s August 1 release date is perfectly timed to join the ongoing Hip-Hop 50 celebrations currently going on, which include The Criterion Channel streaming classic hip-hop films, Sony Music dropping a compilation of its 50 years of contributions to the culture, and Mass Appeal’s producer EPs by Swizz Beatz and DJ Premier.
