[WATCH] The Unjust Assault On Our Women: When Will It Stop?

Screen Shot 2023 09 04 at 8.56.04 AM

Growing up in Harlem NYC back in the 90’s, it was a common thing for young men to ‘holler’ at a girl passing by in the street. Many times if that girl didn’t respond or ‘thought she was cute’ one of the guys would throw a bottle in her direction and everyone would laugh. I was always in the streets, so seeing this behavior became oddly normal to me. As a defense mechanism, I became tough. Some would say a ‘scrapper’ and my answer to dealing with this aggressiveness daily in Harlem was to become just as tough as the men were. That was until I filled out and puberty began to take over and men began to approach me too. I’ve had bottles thrown at me, fought men off to protect my own vagina and sadly, much much more.

This weekend, a Houston woman released a video saying she was hit in the face with a brick after a man asked for her number and she told him no. The details of the incident are limited but in the video, the woman has a huge knot covering half of her face, which she said was caused by being hit with a brick.

She said that a guy approached her, asked for her number, she told him “no”, and then he picked up a brick. The woman said that a group of black men stood by and did nothing as she was struck by an unidentified man who sped off in a car. When she angrily approached the group of men asking why they did nothing while she was assaulted, one responded—“What are we supposed to do?”

This was triggering for many black women in the comments on social media because this is a far too common thing. Women feeling scared and giving out fake numbers to appease a man who could possibly turn violent. The truth is we are alone in this battle. Many people will make excuses for our feelings while the proof is painfully honest. We are forced to be ‘strong black women’ in spite of what happens to us, what is put on us and what we have to endure. I pray this woman finds justice and this man is brought to the light.

To all the black women out there that suffer through countless attacks daily and are forced to be strong, I see you and I respect you. May we all get the royal treatment we truly deserve.

Watch the horrific videos below.

[WATCH] Jacksonville Shooter Wanted Eminem And Machine Gun Kelly Killed

Ryan Christopher Palmeter

Ryan Christopher Palmeter, the racist thug who shot and killed three black people at a Dollar General in Jacksonville last Saturday, identified in his writings a slew of other potential targets that included rappers Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly.

In two disturbing passages from writings that Rolling Stone reviewed, Palmeter who turned the gun on himself after killing Angela Michelle Carr, 52; Anolt Joseph “AJ” Laguerre Jr., 19; and Jerrald Gallion, 29, listed both rappers by name.

“Eminem (aka Marshall Mathers, aka Slim Shady aka Ken Keniff, aka the white guy from D12): Stared the abyss (being ni–dly) and the abyss stared back (becoming a ni—er),” he wrote. “Walks the edge of ni–er lover and honourary ni–er. Fell off not because his new stuff sucked but because the lyrics were gay annoying liberal shit,” he wrote.

The killer’s writings shed light on his reasoning behind the senseless murders and revealed he hoped for a race war. He praised fellow killers, including the Oklahoma City bomber, the Norwegian summer camp killer, and the Virginia Tech school shooter for committing mass murder. He looked down on the extremist group the Boogaloo Boys as “larpers” — people who role-play at spreading hate.

Palmeter also turned his anger to Machine Gun Kelly suggesting he may have been close enough to the rapper to have taken a shot. “Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly): Honorable ni–er. To be killed on sight like Eminem because I didn’t get a shot at him up in Ohio.”

Last Saturday, Palmeter entered a Jacksonville Dollar General dressed in a tactical vest armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle, which had swastika markings on it, officials said.

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson have donated $10 million to establish a fund that will give direct cash assistance to Maui residents displaced by catastrophic wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes on the island.

The People’s Fund of Maui will give $1,200 a month to adults who are not able to return to their primary residences because of the recent wildfires, including people who owned and rented their homes, according to the fund’s website. The fund will also seek donations to extend the length of time it can provide the support.

“How do we help?” the “Young Rock” star said he and Winfrey asked each other during the wildfires, saying in a video released along with the announcement that they grappled with how to best direct their efforts. “You want to take care of the greatest need of the people, and that’s giving them money.”

They are looking forward to the help of “every person who called me and said, ‘What can I do?’” Winfrey said in the video. “This is what you can do.”
Winfrey, who lives on Maui part-time, visited an emergency shelter on Maui in the days after the wildfire hit and worried about effectively getting resources to residents. At least 115 people were killed in the fires, though an unknown number are still missing. The fire that ripped through the historic town of Lahaina on Aug. 8 was the deadliest in the U.S. in more than a century.

In the announcement, Winfrey and Johnson said they consulted with “community elders, leaders and residents including Hōkūlani Holt-Padilla, Keali’i Reichel, Archie Kalepa, Ekolu Lindsey, Kimo Falconer, Tiare Lawrence, Kaimana Brummel, Kaleikoa Ka’eo, Brian Keaulana, Kaimi Kaneholani, Henohea Kāne, Paele Kiakona, Ed Suwanjindar, Shep Gordon and Jason Momoa.”

Jay-Z Lends Legal Help To Man Wrongfully Arrested While Holding His Baby

jay

Social media was enraged after a viral video showed an officer violently punching a Black man while he was holding his 1-year old child. The officer mistakenly believed the man was involved in a hit-and-run crash while the real perpetrators hid in the bathroom. Now, Jay-Z and his legal team are coming to the defense of the Wisconsin man wrongfully arrested. While the man didn’t commit the initial charges and officers made a mistake, he’s still being charged.

TMZ reports:

Jay-Z’s Team ROC org has enlisted powerhouse lawyer Alex Spiro to rep Jermelle English Jr. and his family … in hopes of getting all charges dropped, and possibly to sue the Kenosha PD.

English was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest back in July, after Kenosha cops investigating a hit-and-run burst into the Applebee’s, slammed him onto the ground and deployed pepper spray in the presence of his 1-year-old child.

Applebee’s employees recorded video of the whole violent encounter.

The video shows officers repeatedly pummeling English as he lay on the ground … prompting several protests in the local area, especially once the full details — that cops grabbed a completely innocent man — were uncovered.

The true hit-and-run suspects were actually found later hiding inside the restaurant’s bathroom

Casanova Seeks Sentence Reduction by ‘Acceptance of Responsibility’

Screen Shot 2023 07 10 at 7.41.35 AM

Casanova is looking to receive a prison reduction. In new court docs, Casanova cites “extraordinary acceptance of responsibility” in association with his role in the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang court case.

According to AllHipHop, Casanova thinks his actions during an altercation at a New York diner did not equate to a “robbery” in New York State law. Casanova was one of 18 charged. Casanova faced two counts of felony robbery associated with removing a cell phone from Niya Rucker. Cas and his legal team maintain no robbery accused.

Casanova stated he had no intention of keeping the cell phone, lessening the crime. This follows a report in which he renounced his gang membership in connection to his sentence appeal.

Casanova has also released a new message from jail. Hitting X, the jailed rapper wrote: “I am terrified of how loneliness brings em a twisted kind of comfort.”

Casanova is behind bars, serving a 15-year sentence in a court case that labeled the rapper as a “high-profile leader of a vicious street gang.” Slowbucks, who shared a Facetime to his Instagram Stories, is giving an update on Casanova’s condition.

“Don’t believe the hype,” Slowbucks wrote, HipHopDX notes. “My guy in great standards and in great spirits. Free @bigcasanova_2x.”

Casanova has officially been sentenced, and now his legal team has officially filed an appeal. The Brooklyn rapper was viciously slashed across his face right before sentencing and his lawyer feels jail is not safe for him following his denouncement of the Gorilla Stone Nation gang.

According to HotNewHipHop, Casanova’s lawyer James Kousouros, mentioned that his sentence should be reduced because the Brooklyn rapper (real name Caswell Senior) denounced his formal ties to the Gorilla Stone Nation gang.

“The fact is that Mr. Senior stayed in this gang as it furthered his rap career,” Casanova’s lawyers said. “As he gained moderate success and then a recording contract with Roc Nation, he increasingly separated himself from the gang’s activities despite remaining a member.”

Casanova received 188 months or 15 years behind bars on June 27 from U.S. District Judge Philip M. Halpern. The crimes he’s accused of include a shooting in Florida on July 5, 2020, a robbery in New York City on August 5, 2018 and conspiracy to traffic over 100 kilograms of marijuana.

“Caswell Senior is not just a notorious recording artist, but he is also a high-profile leader of a vicious street gang and a magnet for gang violence,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a press release at the time. “At a crowded Miami house party, Senior personally fired a gun that seriously injured and could have killed a victim, inciting a shootout.”

He continued: “Further, Senior’s stature in the community was central to Gorilla Stone’s successful recruitment and nationwide expansion. Today’s sentencing — along with the other significant sentences that have been imposed in this case — shows once again that gang life is not worth it and will lead to many years in prison.”

Casanova was the 12th defendant in the Gorilla Stone case to have been sentenced. Five more defendants have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

After he received the sentence, he took to to Twitter and issued a short message, saying, “Everything to the chin, Nothing to the heart. I GET IT NOW. I hope that don’t go over ya heads.”

Before his sentencing, Cas was assaulted in a bloody prison altercation that took place at Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey, in early June.

Kendrick Lamar & Tems Discuss Artistry, Mental Health, And More In Powerful New Interview

When it comes to artist interviews, some of the best are usually done by their contemporaries, or at least others who are familiar with the workings of their industry. Interview Magazine is notorious for pairing the perfect celebrities together, most recently nabbing Kendrick Lamar to chat with Nigerian superstar Tems ahead of her debut album. The pair discussed everything from staying sane while in the studio to other creatives who have influenced them in the powerful new conversation.

“I’m not sure when the first time I heard music was, but I found myself loving the radio, and I used to hear Celine Dion. Nigerians love Celine Dion,” the 28-year-old shared with the DAMN hitmaker. “Her songs are very emotional, jump-off-a-cliff type songs. They entered my soul. I think that’s where my love for music started.” Elsewhere, Tems mentioned buying a fake Destiny’s Child CD as a core memory from her youth, noting that it didn’t take long before she learned all 30 songs on the project.

Tems Reveals Her Early Musical Influences

As her star continues to shine brighter, the African songbird noted that she wants to remain grounded in her roots. “You have to remember how you felt when you started as an artist, to understand the reason you’re doing what you’re doing,” Tems insisted. “Yes, it’s to be seen, or to make a name for yourself, but beyond that, why are you doing it? Most of the time it’s because you have a story to share, a message to give.”

Lamar had plenty of wisdom to contribute to the conversation as well, notably crediting Curtis Jackson with making him look at things differently in one of the New Yorker’s past interviews. “I’ve always studied 50 Cent’s music and watched his interviews, and someone asked if he was a conscious artist,” the Pulitzer Prize winner reflected. “He said, ‘Yeah, I’m a conscious artist because I have a conscience.’”

“That s**t blew me away. It gave me a different perspective – 50 drops a lot of jewels that give me perspective, but that one right there gave me a sense of, okay, a lot of artists live and know how to project duality. That’s the true gift because that’s what life is about in its wholeness,” Lamar told Tems of Fif’s perspective. Rapper Gunplay’s Wife Reveals He Broke Her Sink And Choked A Child

Screen Shot 2023 08 21 at 12.21.09 PM

Last week Miami rapper Gunplay was arrested for pointing a gun at his wife, Vonshaé, while she was holding their infant daughter. Following his arrest Vonshaé announced she was divorcing the rapper, an old video of Gunplay and Vonshaé bickering went viral.
Now Vonshaé is setting the record straight after fans accused her of antagonizing Gunplay and threatening to cut off his phone,

She posted to her Instagram:

This entire situation is sickening….. that live you guys are trying to use as the event is FALSE. That is his studio in our laundry room. Two entire different situations and events. The video game is in our bedroom. Tensions been high in the house, I’ve been fed up with a lot of stuff. I was already looking for a divorce in June. He was begging me not to leave. He said he would do therapy and I tried it. He went to one session and never did it again.
.
Do you guys understand how unhinged he was to break a porcelain sink after I left!!!!
.
If he didn’t do anything and I’m “exaggerating” why the hell did he reach out to a lawyer asking for a bond in the midst of all this drama? That’s a innocent person?
.
He in jail contacting my friends and family trying to have me drop the charges. Now he in jail having HIS friends talk to me and about me online CRAZY.
.
I hope the justice system doesn’t fail another black woman and child. If they do, he still will NEVER be able to be around me or my child.
.
It doesn’t matter however y’all spin it. Pulling a gun out on your family and then choking a child in the midst is UNACCEPTABLE.

Jeezy Opens Up About New Memoir And Mental Health

Jeezy has recently opened up about his mental health struggles in a new interview. During a discussion with Vulture about his memoir, Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe, he says he lacked the words to express himself. “I didn’t always have the wording or the tools to understand what I was going through,” he said. Jeezy says he wants to pass along healthy habits to his community.

“As a Black man, we don’t really lean into that because we’re taught that’s weak,” he said. Prior to this, he discussed his experience with suicidal ideation with PEOPLE. “My friends became junkies, and they were getting killed and all these things. So it was all this stuff in my head,” he says. “I just remember standing there, and it was for a brief moment, I would say at least about 10 minutes, I actually contemplated jumping in the water.”

Luckily, the rapper pushed through and says he’s doing much better these days. “I was depressed, my mental health was off, and I went on the journey, and I’m still on the journey. Today, I can say that I’m honestly in a better place.” Jeezy says he addressed his own mental health struggles, hoping to inspire others. He continued: “You can have all the money in the world, but if your mental health ain’t right, You’re not going to be able to enjoy it.”

The rapper added: “I just want to put that in the book in a way that people can look at it and see the trauma in it.” Jeezy told Good Morning America he hopes the book also serves as inspiration for his audience to achieve their dreams. “I think people always tell you about their success stories, but one thing that I’ve learned about life is that in every failure, there’s a lesson,” he said.

Halle Berry Will Pay $8000/Month In Divorce Settlement

Screen Shot 2023 08 24 at 10.56.31 AM

Back in 2015 actress Halle Berry shockingly filed for divorce from her third husband, French actor Olivier Martinez. The beauty currently pays $8,000 a month to her daughter’s father, model Gabriel Aubry.

Now that the divorce is finally settled, Halle has been ordered to pay Olivier $8000/month, too.

Radar Online reports:

Halle Berry has finally finalized her divorce from ex-husband Olivier Martinez and has agreed to pay him $8,000 per month in child support, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Halle and Olivier were married from 2013 until their split in 2016. They share a son named Maceo. The couple’s divorce dragged on for years without a settlement being reached until now.
In the original petition, Halle demanded custody of their son. In addition, she revealed there was a prenuptial agreement signed that she wanted enforced. Olivier fired back demanding joint custody of their son.
In 2016, the two agreed to share physical and legal custody. However, the other outstanding issues were not decided at the time.
In the settlement, obtained by RadarOnline.com, the filing reads, “Halle and Olivier have acknowledged to the other that by entering into a negotiated settlement of all custody and child support issues between them, each has knowingly waived her/his right to a full evidentiary hearing on the merits with respect to those issues.”
The deal states both will continue to share custody of Maceo and consult the other on important life issues. Neither shall enroll their son in any extracurricular activity that interferes with the other’s custodial time, per the deal.
Further, Berry will be allowed to have family therapy with their son and her daughter from another relationship but her new boyfriend Van Hunt will not be allowed to participate in the therapy sessions.
Maceo will continue to study at a private school in Los Angeles which Halle will pay for as long as he’s in private school.
Per the agreement, first obtained by The Blast, Halle will pay her ex a total of $8,000 per month along with 4.3% of any income she receives above $2 million, “as and for additional child support for Maceo.”
Halle will also cover all medi
cal and dental expenses. The actress voluntarily paid the majority of Olivier’s legal fees.
