Tory Lanez Legal Team Pushing for Probation, Says Shooting Was Result of Alcoholism

Tory Lanez Music Streams Decline 40% After Being Called Out By Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez‘s legal team continues to push for reduced sentencing. Instead of time in jail, Lanez is seeking probation and a drug treatment program.

Providing updates on the court case is Law&Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff who states Lanez’s attorneys, Jose Baez and Ed Welbourn, filed a 41-page memo detailing reasons for the shooting. The two-state Lanez was battling alcoholism and included a report from a psychologist in jail citing a traumatic childhood in aiding the condition. Of that childhood was his mother passing at age 11 and living in a “crack infested” neighborhood.

The report also states after Lanez became successful, he leaned on alcohol and weed to deal with his past. The team also pointed toward Lanez’s community service as a reason.

Sentencing for Lanez comes this Monday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m.

DJ Akademiks still isn’t convinced that Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion. Sitting with Vlad TV, Ak revealed that he understands the verdict but still has questions.

“I thought he didn’t do it,” Akademiks said. “I’m a little doubtful, but the verdict is the verdict. I think the people who were reporting at court at that time were biased based on what they already though.”

As pieces of Tory Lanez’s court documents continue to emerge, a memorandum notes Lanez and DaBaby attempted to “rush the stage” during Megan Thee Stallion’s Rolling Loud performance in 2021.

That was the same year, DaBaby revealed Tory Lanez was inside a costume on stage with DaBaby. Megan performed before DaBaby, and once the “Suge” rapper hit the stage, he brought out Tory Lanez. Following that moment, he would go on to perform one of his biggest hits with Thee Stallion, “Cash Shit.”

The legal docs state, “It was also brought to the victim’s attention that the defendant and [DaBaby] attempted to rush the stage during her performance.” Thee Stallion didn’t consent to Lanez being present.

Although the “Do It On The Tip” rapper has returned to the stage with several one-off concerts, Meg hasn’t released any new music. During an interview with InStyle, Megan said she would step away to work on her mental health. “Fans can expect new music when I’m in a better place. Right now, I’m focused on healing,” said the musician.

However, in the past, Megan Thee Stallion has expressed frustration with her label 1501 Entertainment’s alleged interference with her past projects. Both parties are enthralled in a tense legal battle which fans believe has played a part in Megan Thee Stallion’s decision to pause recording any new music. Megan Thee Stallion’s last album, Traumazine, released last year, was roped into the ongoing legal fight.

Issa Rae Would Trust Megan Thee Stallion With Her Life Story, Literally

It seems like everybody is being roped into the Barbie promotional cycle, so why not Megan Thee Stallion? Issa Rae and her Barbie co-stars sat down for a chat with Vanity Fair. They easily guessed Margot Robbie’s favorite reality television show, but there were some hiccups before correctly guessing who Rae would choose to have rap or sing a theme song about her life.

Barbie director Greta Gerwig and America Ferrera immediately called out that Rae should do it herself. (Robbie agreed.)

“I feel like you guys are convincing me of that fact, but I’m not a good rapper,” Rae said.

Robbie asked Rae to specify whether the artist was alive, and Rae confirmed, “They’re alive. They’re popping.” When Ferrera proposed Ice Spice, Rae looked utterly perplexed. “America, no,” she said. Nicki Minaj was suggested by Robbie after a fit of collective laughter, and Rae was more receptive to that — “That’s a good choice; I wouldn’t be mad” — but she and Cardi B both earned a no.

Finally, Gerwig landed on Megan Thee Stallion. Leave it to the director.

The Barbie soundtrack boasts the likes of Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj, as their “Barbie World” single with Aqua debuted within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month. Maybe there’s a world where a deluxe version of Barbie: The Album arrives in the future with Megan Thee Stallion added to the tracklist.

Carl Crawford Accuses Erica Banks Of Copying Megan Thee Stallion

Recently, Erica Banks accused 1501 of owing her money in a snippet of her new track. “And they owe me some money, they greedy,” she’s heard saying in the song. Carl Crawford, CEO of 1501 Certified Entertainment, quickly jumped on social media to refute her claims. “Erica not even making no money for me to take,” he said, taking shots at the rapper. He went on to explain that he believes Banks is only accusing him of being in debt to her due to his ongoing legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion over similar claims.

A new clip shared today shows the former pro baseball player further accusing Banks of making allegations simply because Meg did. “She do everything she do,” he claimed, “so she just thinks that this is another thing that she’s supposed to do.” He explained his thoughts, adding that he’s only “bashing his artists” because the accusations are costing him valuable business. “My business take a hit on some dumb sh*t,” he said.

Carl Crawford Says Erica Banks’ Claims Are Costing Him Business

According to earlier reports, Crawford said “This is a good time to try to press the issue.” He added, “you think everybody will believe you because you know I’m going through this with Megan.” Social media users have jumped on Crawford amid his statements, with several calling him a “bad” businessman.

Crawford’s legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion has gotten ugly in the past, with both parties throwing shade at each other various times. Crawford even went so far as to post a photo with Tory Lanez, who is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, on social media. He later issued somewhat of an apology to the rapper, calling the post a “mistake.” “I just got wrapped up in the whole scheme of things that was going on,” he explained.
