It Looks Like Megan Thee Stallion Is Teasing An Upcoming Nike Collection For The Hot Girls

Over the past few years, athletic apparel companies have increasingly looked outside of the world of sports for endorser partnerships. Where once Nike blew its entire annual basketball sneaker budget to sign Michael Jordan, companies like Adidas, Champion, Nike, Puma, and Reebok have looked to entertainers like Pharrell, Saweetie, Travis Scott, Rihanna, and Cardi B to help move merch to fans who follow their faves’ moves like coaches watching game tape.

The latest rapper to secure a deal with Nike appears to be Megan Thee Stallion, who teased her upcoming collection with the Swoosh via her performance at New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Wearing a purple jumpsuit and matching sneakers, the Nike influence was subtle — aside from a conspicuously placed logo on the front — but Meg boosted the hype by posting some behind-the-scenes photos and videos on her Instagram. The caption tells fans to “stay tuned for the drop,” while a detailed closeup of her soles shows a custom “Hottie” brandmark. Unlike some rapper partnerships, though, this one makes perfect sense; Meg has long centered her workout routines on social media, making her a good fit for a sportswear partnership.

Meg joins two of hip-hop’s biggest names in her collaboration with NIke: Drake and Travis Scott, who both have collections with the sneaker giant. While Drake’s Nocta brand focuses on high-end sportwear, Travis’ sneaker collabs hae been among the most coveted releases in recent years. According to Kicks Finder, Meg’s collection will include the bodysuit, a jacket, sports bras, shorts, and a tee shirt… although the sneakers are curiously absent from the report. This could mean they were a one-off for Thee Stallion herself (like a Player Edition basketball shoe) or that Nike has other plans for a Megan Thee Stallion sneaker.

Megan Thee Stallion appeared on the stacked lineup for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve over the weekend, where the Houston rapper treated the crowd (and viewers at home) to a blend of her hit songs.

She and the backup dancers were all in purple, as the performance started shortly after midnight in New York. “Y’all ready to turn up?” Megan asked the crowd.

During the medley, Megan played her song “Savage,” a track from 2020’s Good News (“Body”), “Her” from 2022’s Traumazine, and even her newest single, “Cobra.” The choreography didn’t miss a beat, as the dancers all matched Meg’s moves. Some of the clips, also show some of the crowd, who are also bopping along while wearing a bunch of festive hats and other accessories.

Although some of the acts were broadcasting performances from other parts of the world, Megan welcomed 2024 live from Times Square. Others who joined her in NYC included Tyla, Sabrina Carpenter, Jelly Roll, and many more.

As for what to expect from Meg in the new year, she previously confirmed that she’s been working on a new album (as of March 2023), so hopefully, fans get to hear it soon.

Blueface & Megan Thee Stallion Have Karlissa Saffold’s Blessing As He Follows Houston Hottie On IG

Blueface and the women in his life are nearly always at odds, but as we approach 2024, it seems the California native might be looking to change his ways. After a particularly tumultuous year welcoming his first child with Chrisean Rock, and getting engaged to his first baby mama, Jaidyn Alexis, Blue might be preparing to spin the block with another rap diva. During an interview with Jason Lee and his fiancee a few months back, the “Thotiana” artist alleged that he “might’ve got some head” from Megan Thee Stallion much earlier on in their careers, causing a stir online.

For her part, the Hot Girl Coach failed to address the rumours. However, Blueface’s mom, Karlissa Saffold, is confident that her son would make a great partner for Meg. She previously alleged that the Houston native wanted to peg Jonathan Porter, but now, she’s celebrating the fact that the MILF Music founder is following Thee Stallion on Instagram. “I’m watching this s**t play out,” Saffold wrote online earlier this weekend. “Like out don’t know the outcome 😜.”

Blueface’s Mom is Still Rooting for Him and Megan Thee Stallion

On another slide, the Porter family matriarch reposted one of the femcee’s recent feed posts, in which she channels Regina George with a blonde wig. “You better treat this queen like the queen she is, or don’t even try it,” Saffold told her son. “You need to be ready in mind and your spirit ❤. Y’all have my blessings.”

Not only is Blueface’s mom keeping a close eye on who her son follows on Instagram, but she’s also been peeping his recent Story antics. Amid his search for a new woman to replace the void left by Chrisean Rock and Jaidyn Alexis turning on him, the 26-year-old shared his “mating call” with followers, which Karlissa Saffold says reminds her of a look she once saw in Blue’s dad’s eye. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Do Nicki Minaj And Trina Have Beef?

This year, hip-hop culture celebrated its 50th anniversary. Each month has been filled with notable concerts, televised specials, and, most importantly, flower-giving to pioneers in the space. So, when an interview clip from HipHopDX (a fellow subsidiary of Warner Music Group) surfaced of Trina dubbing Beyoncé, the queen of rap, lovers of the genre were sent into a tailspin.

As a twenty-year veteran, fans wondered why she didn’t name herself, longtime friend Missy Elliott, or even former collaborators like Nicki Minaj during the chat. Users online began to speculate that there was a deeper reasoning behind her answer, specifically her not mentioning the latter. So, do Nicki Minaj and Trina have beef? According to Trina, the answer is no, but the Barbz beg to differ.

In a 2019 Instagram Live promoting their joint song “BAPS (Bad Ass Pretty Sagittarius),” Trina shut down the reports of friction between the two. “There is no beef between me and Nicki Minaj. There will be no disrespect for Nicki Minaj or nobody else that’s on my album,” said Trina.

However, during a Queen Radio episode following the song hit streaming platforms, Nicki Minaj revealed that members of Trina’s team did express frustration with her for not promoting the record to their standards and not working with them to film an official visual for the track given that she had for Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer.”

“I always show the same love to everybody anytime I do a song with somebody. I show love just because I appreciate being a part of their record. But, for [Trina’s] team or anybody’s team to feel like I owe you anything or to go out and disrespect me because I’m showing love to another female and you’re not gonna check them, that’s not cool,” said Nicki.

So, in the eyes of the Barbz, there could still be lingering animosity between the rappers, hence the inferred dig in the HipHopDX interview.

Earlier this year, Obama was asked by comedian Hasan Minhaj whether he takes any shortcuts with his year-end lists. “People, they believe the books and the movies, but the playlists, they somehow think — and this is mostly coming from young people like you,” the former president explained. “Somehow, y’all think you invented rock and roll. You invented hip-hop. And so the fact that my lists are pretty incredible, people seem to think, ‘Well, he must’ve had some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out this latest cut.’ No, man. It’s on my iPad right now!”

I’m not calling Obama a liar, but what 62-year-old dad doesn’t put a single Rolling Stones song on their list? Just saying.

Top 23 of 2023: Meg Vs. Tory Trial Takes Over Headlines

Megan The Stallion, Tory Lanez

Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez‘s trial has secured a position at No. 2  on SOHH’s Top 23 of 2023 list. The trial involving the two chart-topping rappers was among the most talked-about ever.

2. Meg Vs. Tory

Tory Gets 10-Year Sentence

On September 14, 2023, the appeal of singer Tory Lanez was denied, and he was officially sentenced to 10 years in prison on August 8, 2023, in connection with the July 2020 shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion.

The Canadian artist is now serving his sentence at the North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, where he is expected to spend three to six months before moving to a permanent facility for the remainder of his sentence.

Before his 10-year sentencing, the “Hurt Me” artist allegedly turned down a possible shorter sentencing before being sentenced to a decade in prison. Lanez allegedly rejected a 4-year plea deal and instead proceeded with the trial.

Who Did It Then?

According to recent revelations, Tory Lanez’s bodyguard, Jaquan Smith, alleged that Megan’s ex-best friend, Kelsey Harris, was in possession of the gun during the shooting incident. Despite Lanez being found guilty of shooting Megan, Smith claimed to have witnessed Harris holding the weapon, leading to Lanez’s attempt to disarm her.

Following Smith’s claims, Megan responded and “firmly denied” Kelsey’s involvement in the shooting and continued to state that Lanez was the culprit in the shooting.

5. Queen Bey’s ‘Renaissance’ Era

In a year filled with unforgettable moments, Beyoncé claimed her rightful place in the top 5 as she dominated 2023 with her “Renaissance” era, showcasing her artistic brilliance and cultural impact throughout the year.

Megan Thee Stallion Donned A Revealing Holiday Onesie To Give Fans The Gift Of A New Twerking Video For Christmas

Megan Thee Stallion has a lot to be thankful for this year, but in true Hot Girl fashion, rather than keeping it all to herself, she shared the bounty with her fans as she celebrated the holidays. Donning a holiday themed onesie, Meg delivered one last twerk video before the New Year, hiking up the short pants and putting all those boot camp workouts to good use on a Christmas Eve live stream. Naturally, fans showed their appreciation all over social media, but especially on Twitter, where fan accounts shared the video and generated plenty of hilariously thirsty responses.

She also spent some time inexplicably dunking on Spotify (which might have something to do with the miniscule royalty payouts the company is notorious for ofering):

Meg’s been much more active on Instagram lately, as she put two big legal dramas in her rearview mirror. Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting her in the foot, while she and 1501 Certified Entertainment settled her record deal, allowing her to go independent (although she maintains distribution through Warner Music). Fans are looking forward to her next album, which she says is due next year. Her first single, “Cobra,” is out now.
