Lil Uzi Vert’s Coachella Merchandise Cleverly Turned Eminem’s Name Into A Pronoun

Last December, Lil Uzi Vert told TMZ that they wanted to at least pause their music career “to make women’s clothes.” Uzi might be using Coachella 2024 for a dry run of their designs. The Philadelphia rapper hasn’t abandoned music entirely, seeing as their main purpose for being at Coachella is to perform this Friday night, April 12, and next Friday night, April 19, but Uzi’s merch is dominating the headlines so far.

Several X accounts (formerly Twitter), including Complex, are circulating photos of Uzi’s merch table at Coachella. A $40 black graphic tee featuring a photo of Uzi above the word “THEMINEM” is for sale. Yes, Lil Uzi Vert turned Eminem’s name into a statement on identity. (Lil Uzi Vert publicly began identifying with they/them pronouns in July 2022.) We should expect nothing less from Uzi, a chronically clever mind.

Eminem should be honored, but at the very least, he can probably appreciate the humor in it. Just last month, Em appeared in a “Dre’s Anatomy” skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. He also pulled an April Fools’ Day joke. Not to mention, Eminem posted he’s “looking for Stans” this week as a casting call for his upcoming documentary. Pro tip: Put Uzi in the film.

Lil Uzi Vert, Maroon 5, And Many More Headline Milwaukee’s 2024 Summerfest Lineup

It might surprise you to learn that one of the longest-running music festivals in America takes place every summer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Summerfest has been going on since 1968 at Henry Maier Festival Park near Lake Michigan. It has billed itself as “The World’s Largest Music Festival” by aggregate attendance since 1999 (it was a Guinness World Record!) and even though it was surpassed 15 years later, it remains one of the more popular and wildly diverse festivals in the space to this day.

Case in point: The 2024 lineup includes headliners Lil Uzi Vert, Maroon 5, AJR, Keith Urban, Tyler Childers, Illenium, Mötley Crüe, and Kane Brown (along with one mystery guest), as well as a who’s-who of music stars from country to rock to pop to rap and everything in between. If you want to see Mariah The Scientist and The Wallflowers in the same place, Summerfest is for you. Some other names that jump out in no particular order: Goo Goo Dolls, Brittany Howard, Toosii, Jamila Woods, Ken Carson, Ethel Cain, Bryson Tiller, Cold War Kids, and Living Colour.

Single-day general admission tickets are $28, while three-day tickets are currently $62. Nine-day passes are $130. That’s good value. You can find more information at summerfest.com.

JT Jokes About Lil Uzi Vert Being Happy That She Got A Job

Last year, JT released a new album with Yung Miami as City Girls. The project was met with mixed reviews and underperformed commercially but had some fan-favorite tracks. One of the most acclaimed songs on the record was a solo cut that just featured JT. It was called “No Bars” and the song has more than 10 million streams on Spotify. In fact, it was such a success among fans that it led to her promising more solo material soon and eventually announcing a full solo tour.

Though some fans criticized the size of venue JT was choosing to tour at, it’s still incredibly impressive to have a solo tour at all. In a tweet she made yesterday she cited one person in particular that she thinks is happy with her, her partner Lil Uzi Vert. “I know my man happy I finally got a job!” her hilarious new tweet reads. The post has racked up ore than 13k likes in less than 24 hours. It doesn’t appear that Uzi has confirmed or denied if they have proud feelings towards their girlfriend yet. Check out the hilarious tweet below.

Meek Mill Posts Then Deletes Rant Responding To Philly Rapper Poundside Pop

Earlier this week, a rapper from Philadelphia names Poundside Pop sat down for a conversation with DJ Akademiks. In the interview he made some damning claims about Meek Mill, including that he allegedly banned the “Going Bad” rapper from his home city. That came after Meek reportedly tried to sign him to a $20k deal that included the rights to all of Pop’s publishing. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take Meek long to feel like he had to come to his own defense.

In his response he blasted Poundside Pop as snitch. Specifically he brings up an alleged incident where Pop “told on” Lil Uzi Vert to Jay-Z. His response doesn’t include much about the specifics of the original claim, instead fans think Meek is mostly just rambling. That may have also been the case in a series of tweets he posted on the situation. “Poundside pop dad is boy backs son that snitched on the whole ram squad the biggest Philly rap group …. This is his son now coming after me that sh*t in they blood I will crush his son tho i move different,” a more pointed Meek tweet reads. Check out his now-deleted Instagram story posts below.

Meek Mill Responds To Allegations He’s “Banned” From Philly

Recently, Meek Mill found himself in some hot water with fans of Kanye West. When he described the rapper as “off a lil,” his rabid fanbase didn’t take kindly to it despite him preceding the comment by calling West smart. Meek also shared his new EP Heathenism a few weeks ago. Despite his name recognition and previous hits though, the project didn’t perform well commercially. It sold just 6k in its first week which caused Meek haters to come from all over to attack him once again.

What do you think of Meek Mill’s response to allegations made by Poundside Pop? Do you think he makes good points or spends too much time talking about unrelated things? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Uzi Vert’s “Silly Watch” Embodies Everything About The Philly Rapper

Lil Uzi Vert had fans begging and pleading for a new album after his hit-filled record Luv Is Rage 2 dropped in late 2017. The Philly affiliate is one of the hardest rappers to trust when it comes to his promises of new music. But the wait was well worth it for fans as well as his bank account. When Eternal Atake finally hit streaming in March of 2020, it cleaned house with sales. Fans scooped up 288,000 copies, easily enough for a number one spot on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. One of the reasons why it was so successful was because of Lil Uzi Vert’s cut “Silly Watch.”

The banger about his obsession with watches also catapulted Eternal Atake to having the fourth largest streaming week ever. “Silly Watch” is quintessential Uzi as he lives up to his stage name rapping at the fire rate of the SMG. The Supah Mario beat is also very addicting with its piano-led melody. Hardcore fans of his will know that this track had a different name.

According to Genius, the record was going to be referred to as “40 Glock.” However, Supah Mario cleared things up on Twitter saying that it does not exist. When the tracklist was revealed that is when fans figured out that “Silly Watch” would be the new moniker. It has since become one of the most popular tracks on the sophomore LP and for good reason. Of course, it would go on to receive its deluxe, LUV vs. The World 2, a week later with more features.

What are were your thoughts on “” by Lil Uzi Vert? Is this one of his strongest tracks of from Eternal Atake, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Are Lil Uzi Vert & GloRilla Cousins?

Rap is full of fun and unexpected familial connections. While some are well-known, like Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, others often come as a surprise to fans. Sometimes, they’re even a surprise to the rappers themselves, as with Denzel Curry and Smino finding out they were related in 2021. Other interesting entertainment families include Nas and Tracy Morgan, Saweetie and Gabrielle Union, and of course, Quavo and Takeoff, who briefly considered going by “Unc And Phew” after splitting from Offset, who was shockingly not actually related to either.

But one familial bond no one could expect was recently revealed by Memphis upstart GloRilla, who noted during a recent interview that she’s related to another rapper despite being from over 1,000 miles away in Philadelphia. Appearing on the Bottoms Up With Fannita podcast, Glo was asked whether she’d collaborate with Lil Uzi Vert, and instead of answering outright, she noted, “That’s my cousin,” to the surprise and delight of the show’s host, Fannita Leggett. Undeterred, Leggett wondered why the two hadn’t collaborated yet since they have an existing connection, and Glo cagily replied, “We actually workin’ on it… we just gotta get it together.” Fans will undoubtedly be waiting for that if only to hear how the two divergent rappers’ flows will mesh.

How Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3” Ushered Emo Rap Into The Mainstream

It goes without saying that Lil Uzi Vert shook up the Hip Hop landscape when they dropped “XO Tour Llif3” in 2017. Since the rapper broke into the scene with Luv is Rage, they have continued to push boundaries and defy genre norms in music. Consequently, their unique fusion of trap beats, punk aesthetics, and emotionally charged lyrics have catapulted them into the limelight. Despite their deserved success now, we could never forget how, with “XO TOUR Llif3,” Lil Uzi introduced a new sound to the big stage. The Diamond-certified single turned seven on February 27, 2024, and yet, its impact continues to be felt. Here’s how Lil Uzi Vert used the groundbreaking track to usher emo rap into the mainstream.

The Emergence Of Emo Rap

Emo rap is a subgenre of Hip Hop that was popularized in the mid-2010s, characterized by its emotional and introspective lyrics. It often touches on themes like depression, heartbreak, and personal struggles, motifs Lil Uzi effortlessly conveys in their music. When artists like Lil Peep, XXXTentacion, and Juice WRLD began to explore similar themes within their music, it resonated with millions of listeners. Likewise, Lil Uzi Vert is another exemplary artist from that era, and “XO Tour Llife” put their name on the map forever.

Due to the emotional content in many of their hits, Lil Uzi Vert is often associated with this genre. When they debuted, their music was noticeably peculiar, blurring the lines between rap, rock, and punk. Undeniably, Uzi’s music defied easy categorization. Before long, the rapper’s distinct style and eclectic sound became a symbol of the evolving genre. The energetic delivery in their music, coupled with introspective and often melancholic lyrics, appealed to a wide audience. These audiences were hungry for a new, emotionally charged musical experience, and Uzi was there to supply it to them.

The Breakout Moment: “XO Tour Llif3”

On March 24, 2017, Lil Uzi released “XO Tour Llife” as the lead single from their debut album Luv is Rage 2. Surprisingly, it soon became a sleeper hit, peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Presumably recorded during The Weeknd’s European leg of Starboy: Legend Of The Fall, “XO Tour Llife” is the breakout track that pushed both Lil Uzi Vert and emo rap onto the main stage of the music industry. The song’s haunting melody, paired with Lil Uzi’s raw and vulnerable lyrics, struck a chord with listeners grappling with the same or similar issues.

By the end of 2017, it had impressively garnered over one billion audio and video streams across major platforms. Evidently, the song had found its audience, and they were loving it. “XO Tour Llif3” contains themes of betrayal, heartbreak, drug use, and emotional turmoil which are vividly painted in the lyrics. Despite these themes that are typically perceived as dark, listeners were hooked. The song’s chorus, with its memorable refrain, became an anthem and resonated beyond traditional Hip Hop circles.

Lil Uzi Vert Makes History With “XO Tour Llif3”

“XO TOUR Llif3” not only dominated the charts but also paved the way for other emo rap artists. After its release, the song was quickly dubbed an emo rap anthem and helped push the subgenre forward. Interestingly enough, on the same day that Lil Uzi Vert released his debut album, Luv Is Rage 2, fellow emo rap pioneer, XXXTENTACION, also dropped his debut album, 17, which was not only a commercial success but became a seminal body of work within the subgenre.

Conclusion

Without a doubt, Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3” significantly contributed to catalyzing the mainstream acceptance of emo rap. The song broke down barriers and showcased the power of blending emotional depth with rhythmic beats. As an artist unafraid to push boundaries, Lil Uzi Vert’s impact on the genre continues to reverberate. With “XO Tour Llife,” they certainly left a mark on the ever-changing landscape of contemporary Hip Hop.
