In the song’s final bars, Kendrick addresses Blacc Sam, Nipsey’s older brother, directly in a string of bars. “And Sam, I be watchin’ over you / Make sure my kids watch all my interviews / Make sure you live out our dreams we produced,” Kendrick raps. “Keep that genius in your brain on the move / And to my neighborhood, let the good prevail / Make sure them babies and the leaders outta jail / Look for salvation when troubles get real / ‘Cause you can’t help the world until you help yourself.” The verse has been approved and supported by many, including Lauren London who was Nipsey’s longtime partner prior to his death.

The podcast captions that share how the tragic death of her partner,  Nipsey Hustle who was tragically murdered in 2019,  has helped strengthen her faith, dealing with things that are out of your control, and how she’s using her pain to help and serve others and maintaining the spirit of celebration. In the brief video that she shares with her followers, she states “ Not having control, letting go. When you have this plan for your life, as you should, if or when that gets derailed and you have plan B to go off of that you didn’t plan on,  it is the ultimate test of surrender because at the end of the day as much control as we think we have we do not and it’s actually very powerful to surrender.  We think that it’s a weakness but there is so much power in letting go and flowing with the river.  Life is gonna do what it’s gonna do” she adds “And we are all gonna get chin checked by life one way or another so I might as well focus on my enlightenment and roll with the river and not fight with the rocks.”

Lauren’s message in the caption of the post to her followers states “My intention in sharing is always to help….in any way I can.” Love y’all 🙏🏽

Issa Rae Says Nipsey Hussle Helped Repair Her Relationship With Lauren London

Issa Rae’s breakthrough show, Insecure, is coming to an end after its fifth and final season, but it’s clear she has more where that came from. Recently it was announced she’s helming the reboot of Project Greenlight, the IFC reality show from the aughts in which Matt Damon and Ben Affleck helped filmmakers make their dream projects (with lots of nightmares along the way, of course). Rae spoke about the revival during a recent profile with Vanity Fair, though she also shared a story about the late Nipsey Hussle.

According to the Insecure star, HBO initially thought Insecure should star not Rae but a woman of lighter skin color would be a better fit. When they suggested London, Rae took offense, but she later discovered that London, who was Hussle’s partner from 2013 until his death, heard about her complaint and even took offense.

But in 2019, at Diddy’s 50th birthday party in 2019, Hussle played mediator. “He was like, ‘You should just talk to her. Let me set it up,’” she said. “It actually sparked an amazing two-hour conversation. We had so much in common. She was like, ‘People don’t understand, I’m an awkward Black girl.’” She added, “In the same way that I was upset about the limited portrayal of Black women, she was like, ‘People do the same thing to me.’ I completely get that.”
