Fans think Nicki Minaj reposted an old video of 21 Savage singing her song, “Right By My Side,” was a petty shot at Atlanta rapper Latto. Allegedly, Latto and 21 are currently seeing each other and the “Big Energy” rapper recently got 21’s name inked behind her ear. Trinidad, Stand Up! Nicki Minaj may be […]

Not everyone is feeling Latto’s first single of 2023, but she obviously is. On Friday (February 17), the 777 hitmaker shared “Lottery,” on which she collaborates with Congolese-Canadian artist LU KALA. The two girls’ voices sound undeniably great all through the song. However, some listeners are taking issue with the producer they chose to work with.
Dr. Luke helped put together the beat for the catchy release. He and Latto previously worked together on “Energy.” He’s also helped out female rappers like Saweetie, Doja Cat, and more recently, Nicki Minaj with “Super Freaky Girl.” His past allegations of sexual and emotional misconduct from Kesha led many to stop working with the producer. Still, some are clearly willing to look past the drama.
Since “Lottery” arrived earlier this weekend, the 24-year-old has been facing criticism for reuniting with the embattled industry veteran. Conversely, others are pointing out that it’s not fair to slam Latto and give Minaj grace for her decision to recruit Dr. Luke last year. Additionally, some pointed out that the former was quick to bash the Trinidadian’s husband for his own troubled past, but was somehow able to overlook her producer’s transgressions.
Even with all the hate mentions coming her way, the “Another Nasty Song” hitmaker remains unbothered. On Saturday (February 18), she shared a TikTok dancing and singing along to “Lottery.” She chiefly sure to show off her booty while twerking in her animal print pyjamas.
The comment section on this platform looks far kinder than Twitter has been about the new song. Her vocal collaborator took a moment to write, “How are you this pretty?!!!” earning her a response from the fashionista. “That’s YOUUUU,” Latto penned to KALA. Elsewhere, others have been chatting about the track’s “Barbie Girl” vibes, and how lucky the vanity is to be twerked on by the blonde beauty.
Most of the headlines surrounding Latto this weekend have been about her new music. Earlier in the week, though, it was a luxurious Valentine’s Day present from her mystery man that had the internet talking. The Ohio-born artist has been linked to 21 Savage for some time, however, both parties refuse to publicly confirm their relationship.
She’s certainly not willing to let the world know if she’s shacking up with her “Wheelie” collaborator. Still, Latto did get a tattoo of his first name behind her ear earlier this month, causing gossip to further fly. See the ink for yourself here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.
In recent weeks, we’ve heard countless artists finally roll out their first singles of the new year. Among this week’s arrivals came Latto’s previously teased venture into the pop genre, which found her working with Congolese-Canadian artist LU KALA. The song is called “Lottery,” and while many listeners are loving it, the rap diva is facing backlash for a certain producer listed in the track’s credits.
Dr. Luke aided Latto in building the beat for her recent release. As you may know, the industry veteran has previously faced allegations of sexual harassment, misogyny, civil harassment, infliction of emotional distress, and more. It was specifically his legal battle with Kesha that brought much of this to light. As a result, he was cancelled by many other figures within the industry.
Of course, some are willing to look past the producer’s alleged transgressions. In the past, he’s worked with Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj and was also a part of the team who made Latto’s “Energy” hit. As more social media users find out about the 777 creative’s decision to work with Luke yet again, they’ve been markedly speaking out on social media. “@Latto did all that dragging for Nicki’s husband but [you] worked with Dr. Luke YET AGAIN. The entire world knows what he’s done,” one Twitter user pointed out.
Besides those lashing out at the Ohio-born artist, others are sharing their take that it’s not fair to criticize Latto but let Minaj’s actions slide. The mother of one and the embattled producer came together in 2022 for “Super Freaky Girl,” which has undeniably become a hit in her discography. “Where [was] this energy for Nicki? It is like you guys pick and choose who to be mad it,” they wrote to those hating. “You should keep that same energy for everyone.”
Elsewhere, another account holder pointed out the endless drama unfolding in the industry lately. Firstly we saw Rihanna criticized for calling her infant son “fine,” and afterward, Chlöe was slammed for her upcoming collaboration with Chris Brown. “And Ice Spice getting her first top 5 hit next week. She’s a winner,” they later cheekily added of the Bronx baddie.

Atlanta-based rapper Latto has yet another gig up her sleeve after venturing into the world of secondhand selling via eBay. To support her younger sister Brooklyn Nikole’s beauty launch, Latto modeled in lip glosses and liners to promote the release of the collection. Beauty by Brooklyn debuted its first line of products on February 14th.
Brooklyn Nikole is a model and influencer. At only 20 years old, she is now venturing into the entrepreneurial field. She first started modeling through her Instagram in November 2017. She gained further attention as an ambassador for My Pajama Boutique in August 2018. Beauty by Brooklyn offers vegan, cruelty-free makeup. Although the collection only includes 5 products, the prices are well worth it. For $55, the BBB Bundle Box contains each shade of lip gloss offered in the collection. The four shades include Bubble Bath, which is a cool pink shade that Latto can be seen modeling. The second gloss is Champagne which is a light nude shade. For a basic clear gloss, there is Glaze and finally, Mousse a beautiful deep brown shade. If you are only interested in just one gloss, they are individually priced at $16.

For now, the collection only offers one lip liner in the shade Hazel. The lip liner is priced at $11, confirming that the entire collection is super affordable. The four lip products offered are completely pairable with any skin tone, offering a super light nude shade to a dark brown hue. The brand packaging is minimal yet aesthetic, with touches of rose gold on the boxes and lip gloss handles. It is unclear whether the packaging is sustainably made, but since the products are vegan, we can speculate the same for the packaging.
Latto shared her support for the Beauty by Brooklyn brand on Instagram, giving us a look into her big sister nature. Latto celebrating her sister’s brand comes before the release of her new single “Lottery” featuring LU KALA. The song is a disco-infused pop melody that is sure to rise to the top of the charts. With so many female rap artists on the rise right now, it can be hard to stand out. With her latest release, 24-year-old Latto is certainly proving that she’s had no problem carving out her own lane. On the upbeat, “Lottery,” she works with Congolese-Canadian artist LU KALA over a disco-infused beat that’s sure to remain in rotation well into the summer months.
The Ohio-born starlet teased the track on Instagram a few weeks ago. At the time, she told followers that “pop Latto [is] loading,” and boy did she deliver. While the beat is a far departure from what the “Wheelie” hitmaker usually rhymes over, her lyrics are as raunchy as ever.
“Ooh, you lookin’ at a centrefold / Playboy bunny, wanna take me home?” she flirtatiously asks on the second verse. “Bad bitch from head to toe / Tryna fold me up and lick it like an envelope.” On the chorus, KALA’s voice shines as she sings about unwrapping in the sheets and revealing dirty fantasies.
“Lottery” marks Latto’s first release of the year, following a triumphant run throughout 2022. In December, she gave us “Another Nasty Song” – a previously unreleased title that fell victim to her massive leak. Prior to that, we heard her collaborate with GloRilla and the late Gangsta Boo on “FTCU” as well as Chlöe on “For the Night.”
The quick-witted rhymer is also approaching the one-year anniversary of her debut album. At this time, it remains unclear when her sophomore effort will arrive, but fans certainly hope to see a strong roster of collaborators again. On 777, she tapped the likes of 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, and more to aid her.

Quotable Lyrics:
You gotta work for this, can’t purchase this Gotta prove yourself and show me what your purpose is Show me that you’re really worthy of my services I keep a n*gga on my arm where my purses is
Latto is back with another dance floor anthem. On her latest track, “Lottery,” she lays down the law with persistent men, reminding them that she only accepts advances with the stroke of luck.
Joined by singer Lu Kala as the two sing and rap over a groovy, disco-inspired beat, the pair display magical musical chemistry, while delivering an early contender for the song of summer.
“If I let you put your hands all over me / If I let you unwrap all this in the sheets / If I tell you all my dirty fantasies / You won the lottery, you won the lottery,” sings Lu Kala on the song’s chorus.
On the song, Latto delivers scorching verses, rife with lottery puns, spinning off the rules of the game.
“I need a real boss / Somebody who don’t care what the bill cost / Smooth skin, thick thighs, you can feel on / If he hit this then he hit the Mega Million / Play him like a scratch-off, if he gettin’ lucky / Jackpot, baby, if I ever let you touch me,” she raps.
While this continues a hot streak of bangers for Latto, Lu Kala, who has been putting out music since 2018, is looking forward to seeing where this inevitable hit takes her.
“Get ready to see this Black Pop Stars face everywhere!!!,” said Kala in a tweet ahead of the song’s release.
Lottery drops tomorrow night Omggg y’all!!! I’m so excited & grateful!!! Get ready to see this Black Pop Stars face everywhere!!! pic.twitter.com/rFMsY0mKFk
When Latto and Nicki Minaj were firing off tweets to one another, Remy Ma was a spectator like the rest of us. The rapper knows all too well what it is like beefing with the Queens star. These days, she’s putting that past tension behind her. Their animosity began sometime in the mid-2000s, and some believe it all stemmed from lyrics about who was the true “queen of Rap.” Whatever the case, things quickly unraveled, and Remy unleashed “ShEther,” a diss track that stunned Hip Hop.
Nicki and Remy are mothers and wives pushing forward in their careers. Although neither brings up their past rift, the “Lean Back” hitmaker often faces questions. This occurred more recently during her chat with The Jason Lee Show, where the host wanted to pick Remy’s brain.
Lee mentioned that Minaj and Latto’s fallout began over whether or not the Grammys would classify the legend’s song as Rap. Remy was asked if it mattered, and she told Lee he would have to ask one of the ladies involved. However, she did mention her nominations, stating that she lost out to The Black Eyed Peas and, later, Chance The Rapper. Remy also noted Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and (finally) Nas have Grammys, so The Recording Academy may be shifting.
Additionally, she said “it’s a voting system” that isn’t necessarily based on numbers or a more defined structure. “Once you get nominated, you’re a part of the committee. You can vote, but a lot of times, it seems like whoever is signed to the label with the most people that are on the board, that’s who usually wins. You’re obviously gonna vote for your artists.”
Remy Ma looks forward to the next wave of Hip Hop and R&B carving out its own spaces. She mentioned The Source Awards and the Vibe Awards, much like we still have the Soul Train Awards. Check out the clip above.
