Charli Baltimore Reveals That Lance “Un” Rivera Has Changed His Jay-Z Stabbing Story Over Time

Record executive Lance “Un” Rivera’s stabbing in 1999 is a piece of pop culture legend that remains in the minds of many even more than 20 years later. The incident famously took place at Q-Tip’s album release party for Amplified. The narrative surrounding the incident has been pretty uncontested for years. As the story goes Jay-Z was responsible for the stabbing.

The motive behind it was rumored to be a bootleg release of his own upcoming album Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. Rivera was allegedly responsible for the leak and the stabbing was delivered in retaliation. Jay-Z even plead guilty to a second degree assault charge and got a few years probation in 2001. Now, Charli Baltimore stopped by Vlad TV to explain how the story has evolved over time. “I actually walked up, and Un was on the ground. And I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ And he’s like, ‘I’m stabbed, I’m stabbed. Jay stabbed me.’ So I’m like, what. And he’s like, ‘Jay-Z stabbed me,’” she begins the explanation. Charli Baltimore Stands By Her Story

Baltimore’s story contrasted with something Rivera himself said earlier this year when he claimed that it wasn’t actually Jay-Z who stabbed him. “I just know what he told me, and he kept saying it. He just kept saying it over and over and over again. It’s like Unsolved Mysteries or something,” Baltimore concludes. She appears content to hold her line despite the story evolving over time.

The album before Vol. 3…, whose leak spawned the stabbing incident in the first place, just celebrated a major anniversary. Volume 2… Hard Knock Life dropped the year before in 1998 and just celebrated its 25th anniversary. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and went on to be certified 6x Platinum. Lance Rivera Claims Jay-Z Did Not Stab Him in 1999

Lance “Un” Rivera is one of the biggest names in the world of music production. Best known for his connection with Notorious B.I.G., Rivera is a well-respected name in the industry. However, he is perhaps best known for a 1999 incident where he was stabbed by Jay-Z. The incident reportedly happened at the release of Amplified. Additionally, in 2001, Jay-Z pled guilty to the crime.

However, in a new interview with Vlad TV, Rivera made the bombshell claim that he was not in fact stabbed by the rap legend. While Rivera acknowledges that Jay-Z was at the event, he was not the one who (literally) stabbed him in the back. The incident took place at the iconic Kit Kat Club. After pleading guilty, Jay-Z was given three years probation. During that probation, Jay-Z released two #1 albums, The Blueprint 2: The Gift And The Curse and The Black Album.

Rivera Shares New Details About 1999 Stabbing

‘I ended up getting surrounded by a bunch of people, there was probably ten knives that I knew of, and I ended up gettin’ stabbed at the Kit Kat club,” Rivera said. “Me and Jay-Z had a conversation right before I got hit in the head with a champagne bottle,’ explained Rivera. ‘It was brief conversation and I was lookin’ at him like, “What are you talkin’ about? He just kept sayin’, “You broke my heart, you broke my heart,” and I’m like, “What are you talkin’ about?” However, he insists that it was not Jay-Z who stabbed him.

“If anybody knows Jay-Z, he’s a nice guy, right? He’s an artist, a poet. He’s gifted. It’s never been his history,” he continued. Furthermore, he added that Jay-Z wouldn’t hadn’t blown up if he had stabbed him. “If Jay-Z had stabbed me, y’all wouldn’t’ve got the Black album. You know, through my whole history, I’m an eye-for-an-eye type of guy.” However, this is also not the first time that someone has claimed that Jay-Z was innocent. Nas’ 2001 diss track “Ether” alluded to the notion that Jay-Z had taken the fall to protect a friend. Furthermore, follow all the latest music industry news here at HotNewHipHop.

Nas Was Almost A Member Of Junior M.A.F.I.A., Lance Rivera Claims

Nas was allegedly almost a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A., had it not been for a crush he had on Lil Cease’s sister, according to music executive Lance “Un” Rivera. Rivera, who is known for having close ties to both The Notorious B.I.G. and his Junior M.A.F.I.A., detailed the dynamic during a recent interview with VladTV.

“What happened was is that he just got his record deal,” Rivera explained, as noted by HipHopDX. “This is when Faith Newman had him. The first time I seen Nas through the ‘It Ain’t Hard To Tell’ video, I said, ‘Yo B.I.G., this kid is perfect for this group!’ Now, this is how the universe and the story is working.”

He continued: “I never met Nas at this moment in time. But as we was shopping Junior M.A.F.I.A., Daddy-O took me to Faith Newman’s office, and she had just signed Nas. And Daddy-O introduced me as this brilliant marketer, director, visionary type and she gave me Nas’ second single and said can I come up with a video treatment for it. And I wanted Toni Braxton, who’s hot at the time, to be the girl in the video. So the next thing you know, Biggie and Nas do a show somewhere in their early careers. This is when B.I.G. had ‘Party and Bullshit’ and Nas might’ve had ‘Live At The BBQ.’ They end up doing the show and Nas start liking Cease’s sister. ‘Cause I used to say why does B.I.G. hang with Cease? I’m tryna piece it all together. Like yeah, he was the little brother but Cease was a kid. And B.I.G. embraced him. So this is how they met. B.I.G. and Nas”

The comments from Rivera come after a clip of an A.I. version of The Notorious B.I.G. performing Nas’ “New York State of Mind” went viral on social media, earlier this week. While the A.I. made a cover in that case, the technology has also been responsible for new tracks from artists such as Drake, The Weeknd, and more.
