Raiders Owner Mark Davis Calls Out Oakland Athletics

Mark Davis made the big move for his Raiders franchise. The Raiders moved from Oakland to Las Vegas and has turned out to be a great move for the franchise. Now it seems that another Oakland franchise is looking to make the move to Vegas. The Oakland Athletics have recently been involved in talks about moving the franchise. The Athletics play in a dreadful stadium. Recently it was discovered that opossum even lived in their press box. A move for Oakland’s baseball team is just a matter of time.

However, Davis is of the belief that the Athletics have handled the relocation poorly. According to Davis, the Athletics weren’t the best business partners when the Raiders shared a stadium with the team. According to Davis’ comments to TMZ, the Raiders owner still holds hate for the organization. “They marketed the team as ‘Rooted in Oakland,’ that’s been their mantra through the whole thing,” Davis said. “The slogans they’ve been using have been a slap to the face of the Raiders, and they were trying to win over that type of mentality in the Bay Area. Well, all they did was f*** the Bay Area.”

Mark Davis Not Happy With Athletics

When the Athletics do inevitably leave Oakland, it will be the third franchise in recent memory to do so. The Athletics will be following the Raiders and the Warriors out of time. As the Warriors now call San Francisco home. The Oakland Coliseum was once a proud place for sporting events. However, the relationship between the Raiders and Athletics slowly turned the Coliseum into a ghost of days gone by. However, Davis’ words do not seem that honorable. Since he also left Oakland for greener pastures.

Whatever the case may be, Oakland losing another professional sports team is sad. Although it is always sad to see a franchise be moved. Recently when the Rams moved back to Los Angeles, the move was a gut punch to St. Louis. St. Louis has proven to be an excellent sports town. As well as an excellent football town, as its residents fully support their XFL team. It’s never easy to see your favorite team move. As for Oakland fans, it’s going to happen for the second time in three years. Do you agree with Mark Davis on how the Athletics are handling the relocation process? 50 Cent Lands Hulu Reality Show

50 Cent has been making media moves as of late. BMF, the crime drama he serves as executive producer for, was greenlit for a third season in January. More recently, he was confirmed to be co-starring alongside Mel Gibson in the thriller Boneyard. Furthermore, he is currently shopping for a new home for his planned BMF spin-offs after recently shunning Starz.

However, this latest project, under his G-Unit Film & Television production company, will be different for a few reasons. 50’s new show, which is in early development, will move away from the dramas with which he has become associated. Furthermore, it will also premiere on a new platform for the rapper and entertainment mogul.

50 Cent To Create Tattoo Show For Hulu

50 has long been associated with the Starz network, which is home to his long-running Power franchise. However, his latest project will reportedly air on Hulu. According to Deadline, 50 will be producing an unscripted reality show called Redemption Ink. Per the show’s announcement, “Redemption Ink follows ex-gang and hate group members at a crossroads in their lives. As a first step toward redemption, these troubled individuals are covering up their gangland tattoos, which stand as constant reminders of their dark and complex histories. While sitting in the chair, they will share their emotional stories with the talented tattoo artists devoted to giving them hope.” 50 will serve as an executive producer for the show, which will follow the day-to-day life of the shop.

The show will focus on the eponymous tattoo shop run by Luis Gutierrez in Hutchinson, Kansas. Gutierrez was formerly incarcerated and after being released, dedicated his life to helping other people like him. His shop works to help remove or transform gang-related tattoos and similar iconography in order to help individuals who want to move on in their life. Redemption Ink shared the announcement soon after it was revealed by Deadline. The Facebook announcement spoke of “big things” that had been in the works for the shop. Hutchinson will also serve as a unique reality show location. The city of 40,000 people is located in south-central Kansas. There is currently no timetable for the show’s release.

French Montana On “The Message With Ebro Darden”: 5 Takeaways

April marks Arab Heritage Month, and Apple Music 1 continues the celebration by sitting down with French Montana. The Moroccan-born and bred rapper moved to New York City when he was just a teen, engrossing himself in sports and Hip Hop. He also developed a skill that matched his peers, making Montana determined to become the next great superstar. With his dreams accomplished—and more goals to be met on the horizon—the Rap mogul remains a force to be reckoned with as he amasses awards and tops the charts.

Additionally, French Montana’s love for his heritage is felt in his music, as he often mentions his background or pays homage in music videos. He recently appeared on The Message with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, where the pair discussed various topics related to the rapper’s career. French spoke about relocating to the States during his developmental years, honoring Ramadan, focusing on philanthropy, his upcoming documentary produced by Drake, and much more. Here are a few highlights from the insightful conversation. Make sure to watch the two influential figures chop it up in the video below.

5. French Montana On Moving From Morocco To NYC

french montana drake

Your situation should not determine your success. I’m an immigrant from Morocco who came to the U.S. and put in the work to make success happen for me. My situation does not determine me. I made it out, and now my focus is helping other immigrants get access to life-changing opportunities.

…Everybody’s dream is to come to the United States. I remember when my aunt was getting me dressed to go to the airport, she was like, “You’re getting dressed like you going to America.” I was like, “I am.” She was like, “You are,” and it was a moment. It’s like hitting the lottery. But when you watch it as a kid, they only show you the skyline and they show you the big buildings and the penthouses and this and that. You thinking you going to heaven, you know what I’m saying? You get here. They sent me to Mott Haven projects into East Tremont Lafontaine by Crotona Park with all the Africans. And you just get there and the people downstairs yelling, and Spanish people. She hit them with a chair and it was like, “Yo, where am I at? I should’ve stayed in Morocco for this.”

4. Documentary Produced By Drake

Well, this documentary just tells my immigrant story basically, and all the people that followed me from the day that I started till now. I feel like a lot of people know me, but a lot of people just know me by the music. A lot of people know me from me dating people. It could be this, it could be that, but I want people to know me for the right reasons. I also feel like this documentary just is more based on the struggle. I watch a lot of documentaries, and I see a lot of people—this is not no shots at nobody—I see a lot of people just highlight the trophies and highlight the accomplishments and highlight why they got jerked by the Grammys. Highlight this and highlight that, and I really want to know the actual artists, you know what I’m saying?

Basically, it shows for me when I was young. From when my mother met my pops, we came from Africa, we was on welfare. To me getting shot, to me meeting Chinx, me meeting Max B. Max B be getting 75 years in jail. It’s the whole thing. It’s the whole enchilada. Me also being almost blackballed after he went to jail. Me just going through all the obstacles. Shout out to Drake for helping me do it, shout out to Puff, shout out to Max B for letting them cameras come inside that maximum security prison and helping me document it. Also shout out to my mother, she never been on nothing. That was her first one and it just shows that me, her, and my father came here not even speaking English. And it also shows that your temporary moment doesn’t have nothing to do with your long-term.

3. Honoring Ramadan

I take Ramadan very serious. I fast, I don’t go on Instagram, I don’t go on social media, I stay away from all the negative things, I don’t talk to no ladies, I don’t have no sex, I stay away from negative energy, I do everything I’m supposed to do for Ramadan. And I get better with Ramadan every year since I was young, I get more focused. Every Ramadan it gets harder because you’re trying to do things you didn’t do last Ramadan just to get better.

It’s all about energy. For me to not work during Ramadan, I lose a lot of money. But then, it keeps me away from just seeing naked females and this and that. My getting better is to try to cancel shows, try to do this, try to give it all my power. And that’s what I go through every Ramadan. This Ramadan, I also read the whole Quran, again, just to gain more knowledge. Get closer to the man upstairs and things like that. And even as far as fasting, I make sure I don’t sleep most of the day, that I wake up and really experience the fast and just pray Fajr and just do all things I’m supposed to do on Ramadan.

2. Importance Of Discipline

It took me a couple years to understand how to move. And basically, it just made me realize that anything is possible, you know what I’m saying? That impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. It made me just learn discipline, you what I’m saying? Discipline is going to make today hard, but tomorrow easy. Also I learned that having excuses is going to make today easy and tomorrow hard and things like that.

1. French Montana Talks Charitable Work

Pencils Of Promise, we working on building a couple of schools now in Ghana and Guatemala, and a bunch of places like that. In Africa, we always working there. We got a couple programs in Morocco. Just also started a rehab. It is called NAQI after a lot of my friends lost their life to taking all the wrong pills. And there’s a lot of laced pills with fentanyl and all this. And I just saw Mac Miller and a lot of people got taken away from me. So, I was just like, “You know what, let me build something.” If I could help one person, it’s worth it.

A$AP Rocky Shooting Video In Paris

A$AP Rocky recently got fans recharged for his upcoming musical moves after people spotted him filming a video in Paris. Moreover, it’s most likely for a music video, but other promotional footage isn’t out of the question, either. Regardless, it certainly builds hype back up for his upcoming studio album, reportedly titled Don’t Be Dumb and that should drop at some point this year. Back to the video, though, some of the footage involves Rocky riding a bike and turning up with his crew, all of whom wore white cloths over their faces. All in all, it seems like quite the hyped and excited visual, which we’re sure will come with trippy edits and fantastic shots as usual from the A$AP leader.

In other A$AP Rocky news, Metro Boomin recently shared some words of appreciation for his collaborator. Furthermore, the star producer posted a picture of the two together on Twitter and spoke on their friendship’s history. “Flacko my real brother since Yams introduced us 13 years ago and been solid ever since,” Metro wrote. “I’m 4ever grateful for brosay.” Given that they also teased more collaborations in the future, this also recently got die-hards ecstatic for Rakim Mayers’ next move.

A$AP Rocky Filming Visuals In Paris

In addition, the “Excuse Me” MC recently appeared alongside one of his close friends, frequent collaborators, and fellow style icon. Tyler, The Creator tapped him for the song “WHARF TALK” off of his recent CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale expansion. Not only that, but it was one of the leftover tracks from that album that Tyler had to bring to light. Fortunately, fans didn’t miss out on another stellar track from the duo.

Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky released a few singles for his upcoming album, including the track “Same Problems?” That track saw the 34-year-old in a much more reflective, somber, and conciliatory mind state, reflecting on how his subject matter might impact wider societal issues more negatively. Whether it’s with bangers or with ballads, this is shaping up to be an exciting and definitive return to the studio album space for the New York icon. Regardless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on A$AP Rocky.

Kendrick Perkins Puts Pressure On Draymond Green

Kendrick Perkins had some strong words for Draymond Green upon his return to the court. Green was recently suspended for stomping Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis. The Warriors forward was ejected for his actions, then later suspended for one game by the NBA. The Warriors managed to win Game 3 against the Kings without Green in the lineup. However, Perkins believes Green may be realizing that his time with Golden State may be running low.

On Friday’s edition of First Take, Perkins discussed the pressure Green may feel in his return. “I feel like Draymond Green is auditioning. He’s actually auditioning to come back and say, ‘You know what, I actually want to be here.” Perkins alluded to the great play by Kevon Looney. Looney recorded 20 rebounds in the Warriors Game 3 victory. Also, Jordan Poole played big in the absence of Green. While reports have been circulating that the younger Warriors players have been frustrated with their role on the team.

Kendrick Perkins Believes Green Is Auditioning To Stay In Golden State

Now, the younger stars have a great argument. As Poole and Looney were great assets in the absence of Green. However, Green has seniority and pull in Golden State. Two things that he has rightly earned during his time with the franchise. However, Green must show the team that he will not be a liability during the most important time of the season. Something that Perkins alluded to in his discussions of Green on Friday.

If Green were to return and quietly string together great performances, the stomp will be forgotten. But for now, one has to wonder where Green is mentally before heading back to the court. Green broke his silence after the stomp with a cryptic Instagram story. The Warriors star has long been known for his firey personality. However, one more slip-up on the court could cost him everything he has built in Golden State. Do you agree with Kendrick Perkins that Green should feel pressure when he returns? Let us know your thoughts on the situation in our comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here at HNHH.

Matty Healy Makes Weird On-Stage Apology To Ice Spice

The 1975 is a band you completely forget exists until you hear one of their songs on the radio. Best known for songs such as “Sex”, “Chocolate”, and “Robbers”, the British band has been incredibly successful domestically. All five of their albums have topped the British charts, and all but their debut album reached the top 10 in the US. Their latest album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, reached #7 on the Billboard charts.

However, the band was in the news earlier this year for a completely different reason. Appearing on The Adam Friedland Show, lead singer Matty Healy made a number of much-decried remarks. Specifically, he talked about trying to DM slide Ice Spice on Instagram. The podcast episode then devolved into an offensive guessing game about the rapper’s racial heritage, with hosts Adam Friedland and Nick Mullen adopting offensive stereotypical accents with each guess. The hosts also body-shamed Ice Spice, at one point referring to her as “this chubby Chinese lady.” Healy did not participate in the accents but was heard laughing in reaction to them.

Healy was subject to a lot of backlash after the episode premiered. Yungblood called out Healy, Friedman, and Mullen for “objectifying a young Black female artist.” Meanwhile, the overall racism of the segment was widely criticized. Aside from the racist accents, Spice does not belong to any of the ethnicities the hosts brought up. By her own account, Spice is of Nigerian and Dominican heritage. On the podcast, “Inuit”, “Chinese”, and “Hawaiian” were all suggested.

However, Healy took a break during an April 21 concert in Auckland, New Zealand to address the situation.

“I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a dick. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry.

I don’t want anything like that misconstrued to be mean. I’m not… I hate… I don’t mind being a bit of a joker. […] It’s OK for me to be, like, a trickster or whatever, but I don’t want to be perceived as, like, being barmy. Because honestly, I just love you guys, and I love doing this. […]

The truth I just want to say, ‘Hello. This is a bit embarrassing. I’m sorry if I get it wrong. We all get it wrong,’ you know? I just have to do it in public and then apologize to Ice Spice. My life’s just a bit weird. I am genuinely sorry if I’ve upset her because I f*cking love her.

Matty Healy, April 21 2023

As noted in a report from Rolling Stone, the apology left a lot to be desired. Healy doesn’t actually apologize for the comments and jokes he enabled, he’s just sorry if he upset the 23-year-old whose DMs he was trying to get into. For the record, Matty Healy is 34. Overall, Healy’s apology was a blanket statement of regret if he had ever gone beyond “being a bit of a joker”. Healy also did not directly apologize to Spice, instead apologizing to a concert audience in New Zealand. Ice Spice is yet to respond to the apology but if she does, we’ll update you here on HotNewHipHop.

Jim Jones Doubles Down On Pusha T Criticism

Jim Jones is not giving up on his dismissal of Pusha T as a top 50 rapper of all time, now taking his criticism to the radio. Moreover, the Dipset member popped by The Breakfast Club on Friday (April 21) and doubled down on his takedown of the Clipse MC’s place in the culture. Not only that, but he asked various members of the radio show whether they could name or rap along to five Push records. It seemed like Charlamagne Tha God was the only one able to do so, proving Capo’s somewhat narrowly framed point. Regardless, he went on to give Pusha his flowers while commenting on his cultural impact, which is key in Jones’ eyes to be an all-time spitter.

“Could you name five Pusha T records?” Jim Jones inquired to Charlamagne, who gave some highlights from his discography. “Could you name five Pusha T records? No, could you rap to five Pusha T records? Could you rap five [Jay-Z] verses if they came on? Could you rap five Drake verses if they came on? You lying because you work at radio. I’m just gonna say that because n***as gonna say Jim went way wildin.’

Jim Jones Stands By His Critiques Of Pusha T On The Breakfast Club

“Shoutout to Pusha T, I love your soul,” Jim Jones went on. “You my dawg, you not in my top 50. You might be in Charlamagne’s top 50 and things like that, but you haven’t done that much for me in my life. I never wanted to be like Pusha, I never had a Pusha moment in my life. Where I’m from, n***as wanted to be like you if you was really that dude as a rapper.” For those unaware, the debate sparked from a RapCaviar Podcast conversation discussing Billboard and VIBE‘s list of the 50 greatest MCs, specifically Pusha T’s No. 29 placement.

Elsewhere in the conversation, he also doubled down on Drake being the best rapper. Given their storied beef, it adds a bit of context to Jim’s words. In addition, he also expressed belief that Big Sean, YoungBoy, and Cam’ron should all rank higher than the Hell Hath No Fury artist. At the end of the day, though, it’s just one of many hot takes surrounding that list. Regardless, stay logged into HNHH for the latest on Jim Jones and Pusha T.
