Earlier this week, Doja Cat dropped off another new single, “Balut.” The release comes ahead of her new LP Scarlet, which is slated for release on September 22. Fans are loving her latest track, and are making their opinions known on social media. They were quick to compare it to the likes of Griselda, the indie label out of Buffalo founded by Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine in 2012. The laid-back, atmospheric track is serving mafia realness, reminiscent of some of the label’s OGs. So much so, in fact, that listeners are now calling for a collab.
“@DojaCat on a Griselda project would be tough highkey,” one Twitter user writes. Another says, “I honestly wouldn’t mind hearing Griselda hop on an official remix of some kind for ‘Balut,’ I think that’d be pretty cool.” One fan even claims that Westside Gunn would fit perfectly on “Attention,” noting that the pair-up would be “hilarious.”

Fans Think Doja Cat Should Join Griselda After Hearing “Balut”
Though some see the idea of a Griselda x Doja collab as far-fetched, it may not be completely off the table. Earlier in the summer, Westside Gunn took to Twitter to shoot his shot at the hitmaker. “I’m not gonna hold u I wanna steal @DojaCat from that weird looking gamer dude they be saying racist [crying face emoji],” the rapper wrote. “And take her to the hood so she can wear all that krazy Sh*t.”
Amid the success of her new single, Doja Cat also hopped on her Instagram Story, giving fans some insight on why she chose its title. “[I]t signifies a bird being eaten alive,” she wrote. “It’s a metaphor for twitter stans and the death of twitter toxicity. Hit-Boy Recalls Dreaming Of Nas Collaboration 10 Years Before “King’s Disease”
Hit-Boy says that he dreamt of collaborating with Nas for nearly a decade before the release of their Grammy-winning project, King’s Disease. In a post on Instagram, Thursday, he reflected on their partnership and shared a note he made to himself about his goal back in 2011. The post comes after the release of their final album together, Magic 3.
“Thought this might motivate at least 1 of y’all out there so peep,” Hit-Boy began in the caption. “this note in my phone is from September 11th 2011 before i ever met @Nas . i wrote down and put into the universe that i wanted to produce a rihanna single and just 3 songs on a Nas album. Fast forward 12 years later and i’m 6 ALBUMS in with the God himself wow. How did we get here?!!”

From there, he confirmed that Magic 3 is their final album together. “The final Nas and Hit-Boy album Magic 3. Shanquella Robinson’s Family Claims Tubi Series Exploited Her Death, Hits Creator With Cease & Desist
In October of last year, Shanquella Robinson’s family was left devastated, after the 25-year-old student was found dead in a rental property in Mexico. Robinson had gone to San José del Cabo with a group of people she believed to be friends, but things took a left turn only one day into the trip. She was said to have died as an unfortunate result of alcohol poisoning, however, an autopsy later suggested that the group wasn’t telling the full story.
Robinson was found to have sustained severe injuries to both her neck and spine ahead of her passing. A video later surfaced online, showing her being brutally beaten by one of the women she had traveled with. The footage further ignited preexisting speculation about the group’s involvement in Robinson’s death. A recent episode of a Tubi series uses elements of her tragic passing as a plot. Now, amid the process of grieving the loss of their loved one, Robinson’s family is firing back.

Street Legal Allegedly Uses Elements Of Shanquella’s Story
(@lorenlorosa)Robinson’s family has now served the creator of the series, Street Legal, with a cease & desist letter. They allege that Dennis L Reed II exploited the young woman’s story without permission. “Anyone portraying Shanquella as anything other than a victim of a crime and her travel mates as anything other than complicit in her murder is helping bury the truth about what happened,” a statement on behalf of the family reads. “We’re not gonna stand by and allow that there is still a path to justice in this case when the State Department gives Mexico authority to extradite the accused back to Mexico to be prosecuted.”
“Street Legal is a fictional crime series,” Reed’s team says. “The characters and events of this film are fictitious. Any similarities to actual events or persons, dead or alive, are entirely coincidental. The series follows twin defense attorneys Justin and Jordan whose parents’ criminal past catches up with them. Meek Mill showcased himself purchasing the Haute Voiture Maybach designed by the late Virgil Abloh in a video on TikTok, earlier this week. The addition to his collection follows his MMG partner, Rick Ross, buying a custom Grey Maybach with red interior just a few hours prior. In the TikTok video, Meek shows highlights from his trip to the Mercedes dealership as an unreleased song plays in the background.
The lyrics directly reference Abloh and the car itself. “Louis Virgil got the soft fabric/ Virgil Maybach looking like it got some Timbs on it/ Equity on the back and then in the front I want M’s on it,” Meek raps.
