Tyler The Creator Announces The Release Date Of His New Album, ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’

After a week of cryptic teases and colorful previews, Tyler The Creator has announced the official release date of his next album, Call Me If You Get Lost. The album title comes as no surprise after it was prominently featured in much of the mysterious early rollout, but the release date may, as it’s less than two weeks away, on June 25. The announcement came complete with a crisp, retro-styled website with the videos for “Side Street” and “Lumberjack,” as well as a link to pre-purchase box sets including a CD, a poster, a T-shirt, and a commemorative box.

The marketing around Call Me If You Get Lost appears to ditch Tyler’s Andy Warhol-inspired Igor persona in favor of “Tyler Beaudelaire,” but maintains much of the retro feel of that album’s rollout, with videos shot to resemble Super 8 tapes and styling influenced by 1970s couture (check out those vintage trunks in the “Lumberjack” video). Meanwhile, a press release for the album promises that the hotline set up to preview the music from the album will remain active and periodically update with new snippets leading up to the release. In addition to the box set CDs, the website for Call Me If You Get Lost features cassette tapes of the album, sticking with the retro theme.

Young Dolph Brags That Tough Times Are ‘Nothing To Me’ With Snupe Bandz And PaperRoute Woo

Young Dolph might be semi-retired, but it looks like he’ll still turn up to position his Paper Route Empire employees for success. In the newly released “Nothing To Me” video, the Memphis boss brags that tough times will never decrease his loyalty to his crew. “You catch a body, I’m gon’ pay the bail and the lawyer, that’s nothing to me,” he boasts.

Then, he cedes the floor to his PRE signees Snupe Bandz and PaperRoute Woo, who deliver their own takes on the subject matter. The video sees all three rappers enjoying themselves on a private jet, showing off stacks of cash.

The “Nothing To Me” video arrives after Young Dolph’s retirement announcement, which came in the midst of the successful rollout for Dolph and PRE protege Key Glock’s joint album, Dum & Dummer 2. Over the course of the several weeks they spent promoting the album, the duo released videos for “Aspen,” “Penguins,” “Rain Rain,” and “A Goat & A Dolphin,” among others.

Now that they’ve completed the album cycle, it seems Dolph has turned his attentions to promoting his Paper Route Empire brand, putting out the single “Plenty Cake” with DJ-Q, and helping to work singles for signees like Chitana, Kenny Muney, and Big Moochie Grape.

Anthony Edwards Unimpressed After LaMelo Ball Gets Crowned ROTY

Yesterday, LaMelo Ball was officially crowned Rookie of the Year in the NBA. This was a bit surprising when you consider how Ball was injured for a good chunk of the season. While LaMelo was out, players like Anthony Edwards thrived, and some people had Edwards taking ROTY given Melo’s injury issues. Regardless, Edwards’ efforts weren’t enough to overcome Ball’s strong start, and the award went to the Charlotte Hornets superstar.

Edwards seemingly took issue with this as he reposted an Instagram story from a fan who said that Melo can’t hang with Edwards. The fan even said that Ball should give his trophy back, and Edwards seems to agree with the sentiment. Meanwhile, on Twitter, Edwards agreed with a fan who said that Edwards is about to be unleashed next season and it’s all because of his ROTY snub.

There is no better motivation than not getting recognized for your efforts, and it seems like Edwards is subscribing to that idea. Of course, the Timberwolves still have a lot of work to do before they’re any good although Edwards at least gives them a chance to be competitive on any given night.

As of next season, his battle with LaMelo will be incredibly intriguing and we can’t wait to see how it all goes down.

Rick Ross & Biggie Trade Bars In New Snippet

Rick Ross’ upcoming album Richer Than I’ve Ever Been has seen a few delays, and while that might prove frustrating to some, it would appear that the Boss is simply taking his time to perfect the project. That’s not to say he’s kept us entirely in the dark. Renzel has been relatively generous with his snippets, having previously shared a glimpse at an Isaac Hayes-sampling track a few months back.

Now, he’s come through with another tantalizing peek at what’s to come, revealing that he actually managed to secure a posthumous verse from The Notorious B.I.G. Ross took to Instagram to showcase the unreleased duet, which finds him going back-and-forth with the late legend over a sample of Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle.”

Based on Biggie’s bars, it would appear that the verse in question is drawn from “Hustler’s Story” off the 2005 compilation Duets: The Final Chapter. Still, the way it’s broken up and structured to appear as if he’s trading bars with Rozay makes this one feel new and exciting. It’s entirely possible that Rozay’s recent meetings with Diddy had something to do with this one’s creation, as the timing would certainly suggest a link. 

Given that Ross has actually drawn comparisons to Biggie throughout the years, it’s interesting to hear them presented on equal footing, segueing into one another over a bouncy bass-driven beat. Check out the snippet of the upcoming collab between Rick Ross and the late Notorious B.I.G, presumably set to appear on Richer Than I’ve Ever Been when that ultimately drops later this year. 

Baby Keem Wishes Kendrick Lamar Happy Birthday With A Hilarious (& Pretty Sus) Song

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar have been working very closely on their mysterious record label pgLang for the last year. They haven’t revealed much information about it, aside from its existence, but Keem and Kendrick have grown their relationship working behind-the-scenes on the project. The two cousins have worked together for a long time, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to see how comfortable they are with one another. As Kendrick celebrates his thirty-fourth birthday today, he woke up to a ridiculous (and pretty sus) song from Keem, which must have come as a shock to the birthday boy.

“Happy birthday my n***a, I got a song for you my n***a,” wrote Baby Keem on Instagram, tagging Kendrick in the post. It was a voice note of a guitar melody topped by Keem’s vocals, singing, “Happy birthday, bitch. I got a gift for you, it’s my dick. Ay, happy birthday, bitch. I got a gift for you, it’s my dick. Make a wish!”

People in the comments are having difficulty picturing how Kendrick would even react to this, but it’s coming from his cousin, so he’ll probably laugh about it to his wife. Lil Yachty appropriately commented “Pause lol” and producer Cardo said he was “cryan” over how ridiculous this all is.

Kyrie Irving & Partner Marlene Wilkerson Announce Birth Of First Child

Kyrie Irving has been dating Marlene Wilkerson for a while now and while the couple has mostly kept their relationship private, there are certain things they haven’t been able to hide. For instance, Wilkerson has her very own YouTube channel kind The Find Guru and she currently has over 772,000 subscribers. This past week, Wilkerson made her first post in a while called “Our Pregnancy Journey,” which is an 11-minute video in which Wilkerson and Irving can be seen preparing for the birth of their first child together.

The video is quite intimate as the two showcase some of the behind-the-scenes moments of their relationship. At the end of the video, Irving and Wilkerson welcome their child in a bathtub, where Kyrie helps soothe the baby’s cries. It is revealed that they had a son, although they don’t reveal the date of birth or the name of the child.

This is Kyrie’s second child, and we congratulate him and Wilkerson on this wonderful moment in both of their lives.

Paul George Comments On Kawhi Leonard Injury After 37-Point Night

Paul George has been roasted in the past for his poor performances in the playoffs. Pandemic P was his nickname last season and at times throughout the 2021 playoffs, George has shown signs of his old ways. However, over the last three games, George has been nothing short of phenomenal and he is a big reason for why the Clippers have been able to come back against the Utah Jazz. 

Last night, George had to do it all without Kawhi Leonard in the lineup, and he did not disappoint as he notched 37 points and 16 rebounds in a winning effort. Now, the Clippers have a 3-2 lead in the series and they have a real chance of making it to their first-ever Western Conference Finals. After Game 5, George spoke about his performance and just how much Leonard means to the team. 

“It was a tough blow, but at the end of the day. It’s a positive he can get some rest. He’s got a new baby boy here, lot of love for him & his family,” George said via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “Our season is alive because of his shouldering, all the work that he’s done, so we gotta hold it together.”

The Clippers will have a chance to end the series at home on Friday night, although it will certainly be a tough task without Kawhi in the lineup. If George has yet another huge night, then perhaps their second-round curse will finally be over.

Migos “Culture III” Review

It’s been debated whether the third time has ever really been the charm. Despite what idiom advocates may have told you, many have long attempted to debunk the optimistic pick-me-up. Doubters often point to trilogies, emphasizing how many have gone out with a whimper and inadvertently tarnished legacies in the process. In the case of Migos, who recently rounded out their Culture series with a third and presumably final chapter, the stakes weren’t quite so dire. A pervading narrative suggested that the legacy was already blighted by the 2018 sequel, a sprawling twenty-four track endeavor; the caffeine spike before the crash.

With the second Culture having developed a less than favorable reputation, Migos found themselves thrust into a redemption arc in which the quality of their art would decide their fate. The once-mighty trio found themselves, perhaps for the first time in years, as underdogs in a shifting landscape. In a blink-and-you-missed-it development, Migos went from innovators to veterans, their stylistic fingerprints not quite so evident on today’s new crop of rap stars. While that might have driven Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff to bitterness, it instead seems to reinvigorate their creative drive. Opening up about the Culture III recording process, the group emphasized a back-to-basics approach, citing the importance of revitalizing the camaraderie and drive they shared upon first entering the game.

From the moment the project kicks off with “Avalanche,” it’s evident that the group was ready to make a statement. As introductions tend to set the tone for what’s to come, the fact that Migos opted to explore a different production style showcased a willingness to take risks not often seen on previous projects. In the album’s opening verse, Quavo — who shares a co-production credit with longtime Migos beatsmith DJ Durel — makes it abundantly clear that he’s focused behind the mic. It’s a theme that carries forward throughout the project; where Quavo previously floated by on charisma and a keen mind for melody, his elevated pace on Culture III allows him to keep stride with his technically formidable groupmates. Though thematically he’s not exactly reinventing himself, Quavo’s unapologetic observations and occasional bursts of wit keep his verses particularly enjoyable — to the point where he’s genuinely stealing the show on several occasions.

While groups may benefit from healthy competition amongst each other, Migos tend to operate most effectively as a unit. Yet that competitive spirit is certainly present, exemplified by the us-against-the-world quality delivered throughout. It’s during these moments of heightened urgency that Culture III is at its most immediate. The long-anticipated “Modern Day” is a comparatively dark offering from the trio, scored by an eerie backdrop from Murda Beatz. One could suggest that the group are disgusted by how they’ve been written off, defying critics with a blistering assault of back-to-back verses. There’s a moment where Takeoff shifts his cadence from animated to detached, zombie-like; it’s one of the song’s liveliest moments.

The hunger and drive that the Migos exhibit throughout the album are welcome, and for the most part, they’re largely consistent in their contributions. While new ground is rarely covered on a lyrical level, the defiance and self-assured confidence with which the Migos attack production is revitalizing. Songs like the understated “Mahomes” and the playful, Nutcracker-flipping “Vaccine” are genuinely thrilling, as there’s a clear sense of anticipation surrounding how each member might approach the beat. It’s strangely paradoxical; how can Migos benefit from unpredictability while remaining stubbornly married to the topics they religiously favor? It all comes down to the context surrounding their own position in the game. Their newfound underdog status, at least in relative terms, is an obstacle they’ve never had to overcome. Adaptation is an inherently exciting process, and those who have stuck with the Migos throughout these past few years will ultimately find their loyalty rewarded.

Culture III isn’t entirely free of blemishes. Like its predecessor, the project is a lengthy one. Its pacing might have benefitted from a more scrutinous streamlining process, though given that the group had seven-hundred songs in the vault, perhaps a nineteen-track compromise is a miracle unto itself. Be that as it may, Culture III hits speed bumps when the focus shifts away from the Migos. That’s not to say the chosen guests aren’t decent additions, but the collaborative efforts simply do not reach the highs of the Migos joints. Were the project to do away with the feature songs altogether, we’d be looking at a concise eleven-song album lined with inspired performances and bangers — one that feels far in line with the original classic that kicked off the trilogy to begin with.

It’s fair to liken Culture III to a cinematic experience. Despite referencing him in lead single “Straightenin,” the Migos’ latest is not quite a Michael Bay flick. Though there are moments of explosivity and high-octane stunt work, the Migos’ latest is delivered with enough technical prowess, clever angles, and attention-to-detail to please both casual fans and auteurs alike. As such, it feels closer to a John Wick film, the standard to which raps of this nature should aspire to reach. Recall a previous declaration made by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and MC Ren on the two-thousand classic “Hello”: I started this gangsta shit, and this the muthafuckin thanks I get? Migos appear to be operating on that exact defiant wavelength, only in lieu of gangsta rap, their reach extends over a vast swathe of the modern-day hip-hop landscape.

Although she only has four official tracks uploaded to DSPs, Jenevieve has proved that she is a rising artist that listeners should be checking for.
