Tyler, the Creator Inspires Young Creatives in All Star Series

Following the announcement of his new sneaker with Converse, the Golf Wang Chuck 70 Python, Tyler, the Creator, teamed with the brand to host “Converse All Star Series: A Talk with Tyler, The Creator.”

An intimate conversation with Tyler was held at the event, which was attended by 19 young creatives from Los Angeles who are all members of the Converse All Stars community, a global network that connects young creatives to each other and the brand through digital and physical experiences, commissioned work, and mentorship opportunities.

Tyler gave advice for budding creatives, his experience working with Converse, his creative process and motivation, and more during the chat moderated by Bimma Williams.

“I had this idea to make a shoe,” Tyler said on how he connected with Converse. “We were going to do it on our own. That s— is really hard. Like really hard to get it right. A friend of mine by the name of Pharrel Williams, was like ‘Yo! Lil bro, how’s the shoe thing going?’ and I’m like ‘We’re figuring it out, we just got a few samples, they’re horrible. This is going to be a long winded process.’ He’s like ‘hold on, I’m going to put you in contact with someone names Paul that works at Converse. You don’t have to do anything with him but he might have some insight for you.’”

He added, “Long story short, well, small world. That guy knew Clancey, my manager, for years. So that was an easy thing, met up with him blah blah blah. Ended up meeting with Tim and Lindsey and was like okay let’s just do something together because they had the resources and I’m like I’m here to learn.

“When it comes to things like that I don’t really have an ego I’m like teach me, whatever. Then, from there the illest relationship happened. A lot of people aren’t even able to say this but man they let me do whatever the f— I want and it’s been the illest relationship that I’ve had with a company. It’s awesome.”

DaBaby Dropped From Governors Ball Lineup Following Homophobic Remarks

DaBaby is back on the “cancel culture” good said obviously. The Rolling Loud Music Festivals just revealed its Miami line up and guess who’s on there? If you didn’t guess DaBaby, you guess wrong. The very same music festival, Rolling Loud, that tried to end DaBaby’s career just added him to the line up.

The headliners of this year’s festival will be Kanye West, Future and Kendrick Lamar. Ye will kick things off on Friday. Future will back door on Saturday, and K.Dot will shut it down on Sunday. DaBaby is set to perform on Saturday. The two day festival is set to being on July 22-24 at the the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Along with the headliners and DaBaby, there will be over 100 act at the festival. There will also be sets from Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Baby Keem, Lil Baby, Gunna, Lil Durk, Saweetie, City Girls, Gucci Mane, Three 6 Mafia, Flo Milli, A$AP Ferg, and more.

If you aren’t aware what happened last year at Rolling Loud: Miami, DeBaby made controversial remarks towards LGBT and HIV community. As a result, he received immediate backlash and it took a negative impact on his music career. Since the, he apologized, and made progressive steps in being an advocate for both communities respectively.

Beside being performing at Rolling Loud, the Charlotte rapper has been working on music. Lately, the working relationship between him and NBA Youngboy has been on full display. The duo is set to drop a joint project Better Than You on March 4.

These two collaborated before. They dropped “Bestie” and “HIT,” earlier this year. DaBaby has also gone on record praising the Baton Rouge rapper. He told the Rap Podcast,  “I know he don’t get the credit he deserves for his music because of the stigma that’s around him,” he said. “I just listened to his last project and he’s like crazy talented.”

Fivio Foreign Received A Verse From Polo G

Fivio Foreign has arguably one of the hardest working rappers of all 2022. He’s collaborated with Kanye West on Donda 2. Fivio dropped New York’s new city anthem, drill style with “City Of Gods,” featuring Ye and Alicia Keys. He’s now working on his album B.I.B.L.E.

In the midst of finishing up B.I.B.L.E, Fivio snagged a verse from Polo G. The Brookyln rapper praised the Chicago rapper on his rap skills. He took it to his Instagram story to share it.

It’s clear that Fivio likes working with Cap A Lot. The two has teamed up numerous times before. They have the 2020 track “Bop It.” In 2021 they did “Clueless,” and also that year they did “Head shot” with Lil TJay.

Fivio’s album is expected to drop on March 25 and he has already declared it as the “biggest album in the world.”

[WATCH] Kanye West Buries Animated Pete Davidson Alive in “Eazy” Music Video

YE’s disdain for Pete Davidson, the new bae of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, has reached a new level. Overnight, Ye released the video for his single “Eazy,” featuring The Game. The Black and white visual begins with the Compton rapper delivering his verse before Kanye kidnaps a claymation version of Davidson.

The disturbing video sees YE putting a bag over Davidson’s head, tying him to the back of an ATV, and dragging him. Eventually, YE buries Davidson alive and plants flowers on his head. At other points in the video, Kanye is carrying animated Pete’s decapitated head.

The video ends with a message on the screen: “Everyone lived happily ever after except you know who.” That is followed by “Skete,” a nod to Pete Davidson. Then the message of he is fine.

Today In Hip Hop History: Boogie Down Productions’ Debut LP ‘Criminal Minded’ Turns 35 Years Old!

On this date in 1987, “Blastmaster” KRS-One, DJ Scott La Rock, “The Human 808” D-Nice and the rest of the Boogie Down Productions crew released their highly anticipated debut album Criminal Minded on B-Boy Records.

With the “South Bronx” vs. “The Bridge” aka BDP vs. The Juice Crew beef on wax was at its height, the Criminal Minded album proved to be one of the most important instructional projects for up and coming emcees on how to take out the top dog and start your own reign. As KRS mentioned in the QDIII Beef documentary, if MC Shan wouldn’t have responded to “The Bridge Is Over”, one of the premiere singles from the album, there probably would not have been the rise and success of KRS and BDP.

With Boogie Down Productions aligned with DJ Red Alert on the FM dial at 98.7 KISS and The Juice Crew siding with the one and only Mister Magic and Marley Marl on 107.5 WBLS, it also began the early radio wars, which is actually the origin of the HOT 97 and Power 105 battle on the dial.

Tracks that will forever be etched in Hip Hop history include intellectually adept “Poetry”, the street sagas in “My 9mm Goes Bang” and “P Is Still Free”, the late Scott La Rock-inspired “Super Hoe” and the extensive lyrical lesson in the album’s title track. Ironically, Scott Sterling, better known as DJ Scott La Rock, was killed less than six months after the album’s successful release.

Following Scott’s death, KRS began dropping socially conscious singles and albums, prompting Hip Hop’s “Stop The Violence” movement and the iconic, star-studded “Self Destruction” single.

What Artist Iamchampelli Has To Say to Those on the Come-up Today

Surrounded by music and inspired by the sounds of the 80s, artist Iamchampelli always had a deep love for the craft. Whenever he could get his hands on a spare piano or guitar, he was always putting together his own beats, and later tried out his talents on the turntables with the help of a close friend, Aris Voulkos. It wasn’t until he passed away that Iamchampelli really starting taking his craft seriously.

It wasn’t long before he started his own label, Champelli Entertainment, and he’s been a staple on the scene ever since. Always being involved in the independent music game, he made it a point for his label to support and develop independent musicians all along the West Coast and throughout the Bay Area.

Though much of his career has been spent on supporting other artists and propelling their careers to new levels, artists like San Quinn, 3Xkrazy, Mac Mall and others, he is now putting a strong focus on his own work and career as an artist. He notes that he is creative by nature, and has always been a rapper at heart even if he wasn’t always actively showcasing it.

Rolling Loud Seemingly Confirms A New Kendrick Lamar Album Is Coming Soon

As Kendrick Lamar fans continue to wait for his follow-up to 2017’s DAMN., it seems like every other week, people are fed rumors about Kendrick dropping. There were rumors saying he was supposed to drop between 2020-2021, but COVID got in the way. There were rumors saying that K.Dot would drop before his Super Bowl Halftime performance. Now, fans have once again gotten their hopes up after Roling Loud posted and deleted a tweet that seemingly confirmed Kendrick would be dropping a new album soon.

The announcement was made on Tuesday that Kendrick, Ye, and Future would be headlining Rolling Loud Miami. Rolling Loud then took to Twitter where they tweeted “Kendrick headlining Miami again means exactly what you think it means,” in one tweet. “It’s been 5 long years,” they said in another.

While this does not mean Kendrick would necessarily be dropping a full-length project, maybe he’ll drop a single or music video, or something. Kendrick said during his Day N’ Vegas performance that he would return “very soon.” We’re hoping Kendrick keeps up with his promise.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland Team Up With Lena Waithe For Documentary About The Rise Of “Verzuz”

When Swizz Beatz and Timbaland first hopped on Instagram Live to go beat for beat with each other, who would have thought it would become the cultural phenomenon that it is today. Now, the story of Verzuz continues to grow and will be the focus of a new documentary created by Swizz, Timb, Lena Waithe, and Amazon Prime Video.

According to Deadline, the documentary entitled Gifted & Black, will not only tell the rise of Verzuz but will “explore the traditions of Black music” through Black artists and the Black community.

In a statement, Swizz spoke on the importance of Verzuz, especially during a time when people were stuck at home seeking outlets and ways of entertainment.

“When we first started this mission the entire world had hit rock bottom. People were going through so much and Tim and I felt we should do something to help folks escape,” Swizz Beatz added, “The rest is history, we made the magical call to Hillman Grad because we only wanted people to see the best of the best.”

Timbaland gave a statement as well, saying “Swizz and I are excited to show the world everything that took place behind scenes during the process while celebrating the artists that helped us build Verzuz,” Timbaland added. “Thank you to our entire team, Hillman Grad, James Adolphus, Ben Selkow, Amazon, Triller, and everyone involved. Verzuz came from our love of culture and our love of music and the fact that it has become the force it is today is way beyond anything Swizz or I could’ve imagined.”

The documentary will be directed by James Adolphus, and Waithe will serve as a producer for the project under Hillman Grad Productions alongside Swizz and Timbaland.

BET Announces New Unscripted Music Documentary Series, “Murder Inc.”

A new unscripted documentary series is being produced by BET and Irving “Irv Gotti” Lorenzo titled, Murder Inc.. 

The five-part television event is set to narrate the untold tale of the rise, sudden fall, and redemption of, Murder Inc. Records; and the mastermind behind the Hip Hop powerhouse, Irv Gotti.

According to the statement announced today, each episode will take viewers through the label’s beginnings to the current day, featuring never-before-seen archival footage. Along with including a rich catalog of music chart-toppers and the power players that helped shape a musical era that would impact generations to come.

Launched in 1999, the New York based label Murder Inc. Records played a vital role in bringing forth the careers of some of the most influential voices in Hip Hop, and R&B. Murder Inc. helped launch and guide the careers of artist such as, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Lloyd, Charli Baltimore, Vita, and others.

Murder Inc. is scheduled to premiere Summer 2022 on BET.

“My life and Murder Inc. has been filled with many highs and lows. I got to work with my brothers and a lot of great people; from Jay Z, DMX, Fat Joe, Mary J Blige, to name a few,” said Irv Gotti. 

“Also, I got to start my record label, Murder Inc. Records, with Ja Rule by my side.” Gotti added, “My life was filled with great lows, but I’m not ashamed of those lows. It all helped make me the person I am today. So, with this documentary series, I plan to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me GOD.”

Floyd Mayweather brought in his 45th birthday like only a champion could. Mayweather was joined by a handful of notable stars. This included Kanye “Ye” West, Lil Wayne, Quavo, Lil Kim, Aaron Donald, Antonio Brown and more.

During the birthday bash, Ye took to Instagram live as everyone joined The Money Team founder in a karaoke version of Donnell Jones’ classic hit, “Where I Wanna Be.” Jones performed at the event as well. The viral moment was just one of many memorable scenes at the “Mayweather City” birthday bash.
