Fashion Designer Lamont ‘Tory’ Stapleton says Balenciaga stole his Design

Black Designer Lamont Tory Stapleton took to Instagram to bring attention to an alarming issue that often affects Black creative’s cultural appropriation-The act of taking something for your own use, usually without permission. The designer made a reel calling out Balenciaga for replicating a design of his without his permission and selling the appropriated design at 25x the price. In an Instagram post, Stapleton detailed his journey of starting his “Struggle is Common” clothing line in 2019.  On one of the shirts in the line a black crew neck is printed with the word “Free” on the front and received praise from celebs.  The Instagram reel captioned  “At the start of 2019, after losing a friend to a long battle with addiction, I released a line called Struggle is Common. My goal was to remind people that they’re not alone and to encourage them to face their problems head-on if they truly wish to be FREE.” The video shows Stapleton posing with various celebs including Kanye West, Khole Kardashian, and Paris Hilton while wearing the shirt back in 2019 and then he fasts forwards to 2021 of shots of celebs like Diddy and  Da Baby wearing a shirt that looks exactly like the one he showed previously. Going on to say that his friends were tagging him in the posts as they assumed the design was his “Multiple friends sent me a link to Balenciaga’s website where they were selling the exact same black crew neck as well as multiple variations of my design for up to 25x the price. Then I started receiving targeted ads on my phone trying to sell me what was clearly mine. Strange!. “. He finishes the post by asking the public for help, “I say all that to say if anyone knows anyone at Balenciaga, can you please have them reach out to me. We need to have a conversation. All too often, the little people get stepped on by big brands and I just want to ensure that this is not another example of that, but rather just a big misunderstanding. Serena Williams Wows U.S. Open In A Custom Diamond-Encrusted Dress

From beads to skin-tight dresses Serena Williams has been making fashion statements on the court throughout her legendary career.  And last night she didn’t disappoint debuting an instantly iconic outfit during last night’s U.S. Open. The 23-time Grand Slam winner said farewell and bid the tennis world a heartfelt adieu in high fashion and in true Serena style.   Serena, who defeated her opponent Danka Kovinic in the first match and what is expected to be her final professional tennis tournament, began her “evolution” (Serena refuses to call it retirement)  wearing NikeCourt Flare 2 sneakers that included a diamond-encrusted swoosh, solid gold shoelace tags and 400 hand-set diamonds—and that’s just on Serena’s sneakers. 

The outfit also included a removable cape and a matching jacket with star-shaped embellishments. The matching mommy and me Nike dress-her daughter Olympia was wearing the same replica, had diamonds and crystals embedded on the outside with a matching jacket and a tote bag.  

The figure skating-inspired Nike dress that she designed also in collaboration with her ‘Serena Williams Jewelry’ company was constructed of a six-layer skirt to commemorate her six singles at the U.S. Open throughout her career, only playing with two of the layers stating that wearing all the layers would have been “too heavy to play in” as she told Gayle King in an interview after the match. “For her latest outfit for Flushing, Serena took control, providing the full vision and dialing the details for a thrilling design created to make her feel comfortable and confident,”  Nike said in a statement.  According to Nike, Serena’s diamond-encrusted bodice  “refracts light and shines bright, alluding to the night sky at the tournament.

Watch Flo Milli Make Her VMA Performance Debut

Flo Milli brought the fits and fun, fused with dance moves during her MTV Video Music Award performance debut. The Mobile, AL native took the Extended Play Stage, presented by Doritos to perform both two songs from her debut album, You Still Here, Ho?

Dripped in Telfar’s “performance bandeau,” while matching with its signature “thigh hole track pants”, Flo Milli’s high energetic effort remained consistent throughout both performances for “Bed Time” and “Conceited.”

“Expect a full show – a Flo Milli experience,” she said regarding audience expectations.

Based on the crowd’s reaction, it is safe to say that Flo Milli was not the only feeling her while she performed “Conceited,” but did so while performing “Bedtime” as well.

She filled the Extended Play stage with distinct versatility, back by dancers who fed off the reciprocated energy.

Flo Mill dropped her debut album back in July, which is a sequel from her debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here? Her project titles have derived from her love for reality tv shows. She even featured VH1 legend, Tiffany “New York” Pollard on the intro and outro of her debut album.

“This experience was very different than my mixtape,” she says on creating an album. “I was able to really take my time and create a full picture with my music , creative and visuals. I was able to work with a lot of new producers and create my sound, find my range and pocket. This is only the beginning of much more to come.”

Last week she released her video for “Big Steppa.” The Amber Park directed video shows a “larger than life” Flo Milli flowing to the rhythm of her own beat.

Flo Milli is set to perform at Made In America Festival next month.

Jennifer Hudson Shows Off Her EGOT Collection After Her Tony Arrives in The Mail

JHud finally received the physical Tony award in the mail and took to Instagram on Friday to celebrate with the caption “Look what arrived yall!!”  to share a shot of her posing wearing a purple button-down dress with her Tony award with the other trophies including the Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar sitting beside her on the piano, solidifying her place in EGOT history. The multi-talented performer received the award as a producer of Best Musical Winner on “A Strange Loop” with industry legends, Billy Poter, RuPaul, and Don Cheadle. 

 The multi-hyphenate performer joins an elite list of just 16 other Hollywood power players to have done the same, including Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Alan Menken, and John Legend. “Wow !!! I am overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support that I am Still receiving and I’m still processing this whole new ground,” Hudson wrote on Instagram on June 14 after winning her, Tony. “What an honor! Thank u all for being with me on this journey. I could not live this life without u. Like I said when I won my Oscar, look what God can do. Well, He did it again!”Over the course of her impressive career, she’s also won the Oscar for the best-supporting actress (for 2006’s Dreamgirls), two Grammy Awards (best R&B album for 2008’s Jennifer Hudson, and best musical theater album for 2016’s The Color Purple), and a Daytime Emmy Award for 2021’s Baba Yaga.

She also treated her fans to a brief concert of her singing some of her favorite Broadway songs that she performed throughout her career on Instagram Reels.

Nicki Minaj To Perform On VMAs, Honored with Michael Jackson Vanguard Award

Rap megastar Nicki Minaj will receive MTV’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s VMAs.  It also was announced that Minaj will be performing at the awards show for the first time since 2018.  One executive noted that  Nicki has broken barriers for women in Hip Hop through her versatility and creative artistry. 

“Nicki has broken barriers for women in Hip Hop with her versatility and creative artistry,” said Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+. “She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style and continuing to be unapologetically ‘Nicki’.”

Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, and Rihanna are the only black female artist to win a Video Vanguard Award.

 The Video Vanguard Award hasn’t been given out since 2019. The 5x “VMAs” winner took home her first Moon Person for Best Hip Hop Video in 2011, and is nominated this year for “Best Hip Hop.” Nicki Minaj’s new single “Super Freaky Girl” is set to hit streaming platforms this Friday.

Megan Thee Stallion Says That Fans Encourage Beef Between Female Rappers

Megan Thee Stallion recently sat down with Yung Miami for an episode of Caresha Please where the two talked about their experiences as female rappers.

Around the 19 minute mark of the interview, Yung Miami asked Meg how it was to work with Cardi B. Meg said that she was somewhat skeptical of working with Cardi because she wasn’t sure about each other before they met. “I love her, she was so easy to work with,” she said. “But like, when we first met I feel like we was both like, ‘We good?! Everything okay?’”

Yung Miami interjected saying that it can be like that when working with another female artist for the first time.

“Do you feel like y’all ever be in those type of predicaments, like you can’t work with somebody because you worked with somebody else?” Meg asked. She continued, “I feel like, just friends in general, when you know your friend might not feel so good about somebody, do you like, go out your way to be like, ‘Okay, bitch, I’m not fucking with you. Period.”

Yung Miami responded, saying that it is natural to want to be “loyal” to your friend when they get into a beef. “You wanna not really get into what they got going on because it’s like, if JT don’t fuck with somebody, I don’t fuck with you,” said Miami.

Meg went on to say how she believes fans encourage beef more than anybody when it comes to female artists. “I feel like it be the fans more so than anybody,” she said. “They keep it up more than the actual artists and they got the world thinking, like, something that’s not happening…”

And then a series of posts while gambling in the casino including a video of him getting his hair rinsed in a shampoo bowl by a hair stylist with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Conditioner and Shampoo (Yes we checked the bottle) while making jokes about his hair being rinsed out and the water temperature being lukewarm with a caption asking his friends to “Give this guy a name?”   His famous friends and some of his 120 Million fans waisted no time clowning,  Quavo of the Migos joked “RAZOR AUBREY RAMONE 🪒 aka SCOTT HALL, While Kaashpaige went in with “Wolf of 6 street 😂😮‍💨” and  Lionel Drizzy!

Vanessa Bryant Awarded $16 Million In Damages In Crash Photos Lawsuit

Jurors delivered a verdict in the lawsuit involving Vanessa Bryant against Los Angeles County and awarded her $16 million. Her co-plaintiff, Chris Chester is walking away with a $15 million judgment as well. 

Chester’s wife Sarah and 13-year-old daughter Payton, were among the nine people killed in the Jan. 26, 2020, helicopter crash near Calabasas.

Their lawsuit accuses LA county of negligence because first responders shared graphic images of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the other victims remains.

Vanessa cried and left the courtroom at one point during the trial, with her and Chester’s legal team saying there isn’t an amount too high that they can be awarded for what they went through, calling it “inhuman and inhumane.” The federal jury unanimously agreed that first responders invaded Bryant’s privacy and caused her emotional distress by sharing photos of victims’ remains,
