Halle Bailey Promised New Music In August, But Is ‘Going To Go Away For A Few Weeks’ First

In today’s ultra-connected world, it’s important to unplug sometimes. This is especially true for artists and other public figures, whose social media allows them to stay in contact with fans, but also exposes them to thousands of criticisms and myriad distractions from their respective crafts.

Halle Bailey knows this, and is giving herself a break from social media for a while, as she told fans on Twitter (never calling it “X”). But, there’s good news, too: She’ll only be gone until August, and when she returns, it’ll be with new music.

“hey guys. i am going to go away for a few weeks, will be offline,” she wrote. “just need a break from everyone. will be back with new music in august. xo.”

The actress and singer has plenty of reason to take that break. In April, she admitted to having “severe postpartum depression” after the birth of her son Halo, just a month after releasing the new single “In Your Hands” to less-than-enthusiastic reception from fans. She was also encouraged to ignore social media by her sister Chloe during her pregnancy, and perhaps that strategy proved effective enough to encourage her to do it again. Meanwhile, as fans, we’ll be looking forward to August with plenty of curiosity about what she plans to do next.

When inspiration hits you, no matter where, you have to give in. Despite being on a tropical vacation, Halle Bailey found a way to build a makeshift recording studio setup.

Today (July 23), the “In Your Hands” singer decided to treat fans to an impromptu show. Instead of debuting one of her unreleased tracks, Halle to put a fresh spin on someone else’s chart-topping tune. Equipped with an acoustic guitar and a microphone, Halle performed a spine-tingling cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Please Please Please.”

Halle offered a simple explanation behind what inspired the nearly one-minute teaser clip: “Woke up with this song in my head. I love it 🤓.”

It’s hard to believe it now, especially since her leading role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid live action adaptation, but Halle has a soft spot for covers. Before Chloe X Halle broke through to the mainstream, the sister duo built their fan base by way of their YouTube channel riddled with cover of standout songs.

So, Halle’s angelic rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s single “Please Please Please” is a subtle remember of her superstar roots. Users online quickly reminded newbies of this fact.

“The girlies should be scared when you cover a song! Your instrument is so angelic! 🥹😭,” wrote one user.

“How do you manage to make every song beautiful and angelic, I haven’t heard a cover that wasn’t better with your voice like 😍🥹💕,” chimed another.

DDG Claps Back After Halo’s Lineup Causes A Stir On Social Media

DDG, his partner Halle Bailey, and their six-month-old son Halo, are continuing to face the wrath of the internet after the rapper showed of his child’s lineup. This wave of hate and backlash comes just a few days after the couple revealed their baby boy’s face for the first time. Them taking this long to do so is nothing new for these multi-talented lovers, as Halle Bailey’s pregnancy was kept hush hush as possible. When they did decide they were comfortable enough to share Halo to the world through wholesome family photos, some people just could not contain themselves. It led DDG to go off online, saying, “It just makes me mad. “But then I have to realize that my son is richer than them and he has a more successful life”.

Now, the Pontiac, Michigan father of one is having to respond to more trolls and haters alike for the aforementioned haircut. According to The Shade Room, DDG shared a video of Halo getting his first-ever lineup at just six months old. He did begin to cry once the barber began to go to work with the trimmers. But papa bear was able to calm him down with a bottle and he wound up being just fine. A lot of social media users were critiquing this decision mostly because of how bad this could be for Halo’s hair in the future.

DDG Is Being A Father To Halo & That’s That

Additionally, there were others who were just roasting the fact that DDG decided to go through with this. However, DDG was not having any of it, going ballistic once again. “People got something got to say because I got my son a line up at six months. Listen y’all, y’all worry ’bout your own kids. He came out of my balls. Not yours. Worry about your own baby. Worry about your daddy. Why your daddy couldn’t afford you a haircut? Let me be a happy dad”, DDG said. The multi-media figure even suggested that Black people are doing the majority of the talking, when instead they should be happy for him. “Why y’all always gotta say negative things about your own race? Instead, you should’ve just said the lining is crispy, cause it is, I know”.

Father’s Day was officially celebrated last month. But daddy duties never stop. First time poppa, DDG would certainly agree. Since the birth of his son Halo at the top of the year, the “Way Too Petty” rapper and his girlfriend and fellow entertainer Halle Bailey have slowly and cautiously shared small milestones online.

On July 3, the couple revealed the adorable infant’s face in a gallery of family vacation photos. Although the images were met with overwhelmingly positive responses, a few outliers hide in the comment section.

Not only did DDG notice the snide remarks, he decided to clapback with a few of his own. In a video captured by The Shade Room, DDG let loose on the trolls.

“I read a few comments,” he said. “I know I have the best looking son in the world. There is no baby out there that is more handsome than my son. But I seen a few poor, broke, dirty, fat back b*tches on Instagram talking about my son, and it just makes me so angry and mad.”

His insults didn’t stop there. “But then I have to realize that my son is richer than them,” he said. “And he has a more successful life than [them]. And he’s in Italy at 6 months [old]. He’s been across the world. He’s been around the world already, and he has only been living for six months. And they are poor, broke, and can barely eat probably on welfare still, and they are grown probably living with they momma.”

DDG & Halle Bailey Finally Reveal Baby Halo’s Face & Clap Back At Haters Trolling Them For It

While DDG and Halle Bailey are very happy parents, it must be exhausting when the Internet is always trying to bring this high down. Moreover, the two recently finally revealed their baby boy Halo’s face after months and months of hiding it and being very careful about it on social media. They did so via new family pictures of the three of them together, reportedly in Italy, and most people had very wholesome and caring responses to this online. However, there were also plenty of people hating on Halo’s face or on their family situation as a whole for various reasons, and the Michigan rapper and YouTuber actually responded to this hate in a new vlog.

“It just makes me mad,” DDG said of haters blasting Halo and making fun of his and Halle Bailey’s relationship online. “But then I have to realize that my son is richer than them and he has a more successful life. He’s in Italy at 6 months, he’s been across the world already and only been living for 6 months. They’re broke, poor, can barely eat, probably on welfare and grown probably living with their mama. Now if you’re a nice person and I described your life in any way, I don’t mean no harm. I’m talking about the people who was talking crazy about my son.”

Halo’s Face Is Finally Revealed

Furthermore, DDG and Halle Bailey have also had to deal with an alleged viral video of him walking in on her while she was topless, which caused a lot of buzz online. They claimed that the video was A.I.-generated, but a lot of fans don’t seem to believe this excuse. In fact, some of them claimed that this was an example of celebrities using A.I. as a crutch for other leaks. It’s not really something to harp on about either way, and hyper-obsessions with salacious incidents like these is exactly what makes stuff like A.I. so dangerous these days, even in the context of “real” clips.

They previously announced their partnership back in February for a Valentine’s Day post, and Chance is looking forward to pursuing acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Furthermore, this was good news for the Combs family amid a very difficult and trying time for them all. It’s been a massive part of the media starting in late 2023, and regardless of what is just or unjust, the family must feel a lot of conflict and negativity right now.

DDG Reveals His Massively Monthly Salary & How He & Halle Bailey Manage Finances

DDG revealed that he earns over six figures every month from his work as a recording artist as well as a YouTube content creator. He detailed his finances during an interview with The Shade Room but refused to offer any exact numbers.

“I’m going to give you a wide range. I don’t want people to pocket-watch too crazy. On a low month, I’ll pull in a little hundred piece [$100,000]. On a high month, we can go anywhere from five [$500,000] and up,” DDG told the outlet. “I work very hard. A lot of people don’t give me credit for what I do, but being relevant in the space that I’m in for as long as I have, a lot of people look at me as an OG. Even though I’m 26, but I’ve been doing it since I was 19. I inspired a lot of the new creators that we are seeing now.”

DDG began his career by dropping out of Central Michigan University and working on his YouTube content full-time. Soon after, he signed with Epic Records and began work on his music career as well. More recently, he and his partner, Halle Bailey, welcomed their first child together. Further speaking with The Shade Room, DDG explained how he and his partner manage their finances as a couple. “50/50 is cool when it comes to … nah, not 50/50,” DDG said. “I pay for a lot of stuff. I don’t think 50/50 is a thing when you have money. Me and her have money so it’s a little different. For the most part, as a man, you know she will never pay for dinner, she will never pay for an Uber or trips and flights and stuff. I feel like that’s definitely my job. When it comes to our child, it’s a little different. We might split a night nurse here and there, you know what I mean? It ain’t even about the money, it’s just the principle, you know? The baby [is] 50/50.”

Previously, Halle Bailey pulled the curtain back on her decision to keep her pregnancy quiet as long as she could.

At the 2024 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards Ceremony, Halle revealed she was enjoying her “gift.”

“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone. Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that,” Bailey said. “With the state of the world and the place it is in with men trying to force their will on our bodies, no one on social media, and for damn sure, no one on the planet was going to tell me what to do with my body or what to share with the world.”

The sentiment echoes that of the child’s father, DDG. Speaking with Hollywood Unlocked, DDG revealed the decision was to push away “negative vibes.”

“I think it was more so people was already giving us negative vibes, so it’s like why let ‘em know then make her pregnancy stressful?”

With a new baby, Halle Bailey and DDG have combined for a new Instagram for their son Halo. In the initial images on the account, Halo’s face is blurred for security.

Halo’s bio reads: “my stylist & dada @ddg run this page.. the flyest baby alive.”

At the top of 2024, Halle Bailey revealed that she had given birth to Halo, her and DDG’s first child. Motherhood is a beautiful thing, but it’s not always easy. Bailey is going through a rough patch with it at the moment, as she has opened up about experiencing “severe, severe” postpartum depression.

As People notes, in a video that Bailey recently shared on Instagram, she speaks about what she’s going through, saying, “I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad, and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out.”

She later added, “Halo is a miracle. He is perfect. He is beautiful. When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is. The only thing that’s been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body. I feel like a completely different person. When I look in the mirror, I just feel like I’m in a whole new body. Like, I don’t know who I am.”

Bailey also said, “Before I had a child and I would hear people talk about postpartum, it would kind of just go in one ear and out the other. I didn’t realize how serious of a thing it actually was. Now going through it, it almost feels like you’re swimming in this ocean that’s like the biggest waves you’ve ever felt and you’re trying not to drown. And you’re trying to come up for air.”

She concluded, “Even though you may look up to certain people and you think that they are celebrities, and they appear it have it all together, you never know what somebody else is going through, especially someone who just had a baby literally.”
