Killer Mike Says Black People Will Be Harmed By Gun Control Laws

Iconic rapper Killer Mike is not a fan of new gun control laws in the United States. This comes despite the call from many across the nation to impose new laws that limit who can purchase guns. Mike believes that any new gun control laws in the United States will disproportionately affect black people compared to other groups. That does not mean that the MC thinks nothing should change, however. Mike suggests a few alternative approaches to address the surge in gun violence.

During an appearance on TMZ Live, Mike expressed his support for implementing curfews for minors in Atlanta as a way to reduce violence. The rapper has personal experience with this. He had a curfew while growing up in the area and believes it can be an effective measure. However, he firmly opposes the enactment of new legislation as a solution to gun-related crimes. As someone who strongly supports the Second Amendment, Mike raises concerns about the impact of stricter gun laws, particularly on black Americans. He believes that they would be the most negatively affected. Still, he believes those who own guns should be educated on them.

Mike Thinks Gun Safety Education Is The Right Move

When it comes to gun ownership, Killer Mike advocates for a different approach. He believes it is better for black families to be armed. However, he thinks they must receive better education on the safe use and storage of firearms. The United States has already witnessed an astounding 300-plus mass shootings in the current year. This could potentially lead to the deadliest year on record. That is certainly saying something in a country like the US, where mass shootings have been the norm for years.

Still, Killer Mike does not think gun control laws are the answer. Instead, Mike believes that a solution lies in increased funding for community facilities. He suggests providing more resources to places like YMCAs. He says these can serve as safe havens for children and help them stay away from trouble. Still, as more and more headlines hit the news each day, Mike’s solutions become more questionable. In a country where there have been over 300 mass shootings in the less than half a year, is community funding enough? What do you think of Mike’s solutions? Q-Tip Calls For Gun Control

Q-Tip is calling for stricter gun control legislation in America. On Monday (May 8th) the rap legend posted a frightening statistic regarding mass shootings in the U.S. These statistics are only from this year alone. The screenshot of his tweet he shared on Instagram showed flooring numbers around the ongoing trend of gun violence. “There’s been more mass shootings (200) than days of the year (128) #GunControlNow,” Q-tips tweet read. He posted the screen shot with the same caption as the hashtag.

The A Tribe Called Quest front man’s cries for gun control come only days after a mass shooting happened in a mall in Allen, Texas. As reported by HuffPost, a 33-year-old far-right gunman fired shots killing eight people. He also died at the scene. Moreover, the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. this year occurred in Monterey Park, California in January. A 72-year-old man murdered 11 people in a dance studio after a Lunar New Year celebration. According to The Guardian, America is seeing more than one mass killing a week on average in 2023.

Q-Tip Post Chilling Stats Regarding Gun Violence

2023 is on pace to be one of the worst years of mass shootings in the nation’s history. In other Q-Tip news, LL Cool J mentioned a project fully produced by the Abstract. Furthermore, the “Around The Way Girl” rapper praised Tip for his excellent executive production on his forthcoming album. This will be LL’s 14th studio album since 2013’s Authentic. Recently the legendary MC released a single off his new project called “The Force” sparking much excitement from his fans.

Not only that, the track has elements from Q-Tip’s 1999 Authentic song “End of Time,” and lists the late great Michael Jackson as a co-writer. Additionally, the Abstract has been receiving love from all over. He recently received his flowers from H.E.R. when she stated how impactful he’s been for her and how much music he’s put her on. She told The Source, “I don’t know who I relate to the most, but one of my favorite rappers of all time is Q-Tip.” “I actually got to meet him one time and he put me onto so much music. And I didn’t realize how much music he was inspired by outside of Hip Hop,” the R&B star continued. Do you think Q-Tip is right about gun control? Let us know what you think below!

Gregg Popovich Speaks Out About Gun Control

Gregg Popovich has never kept his political opinions to himself. Whether it’s saying that Trump’s election made him “sick to his stomach” or calling on politicians to address racial inequalities, Popovich has been a staunch advocate of liberal ideologies.

Guns are an ever-present element of American life and politics. The Second Amendment of the Constitution allows private citizens to own firearms and it is one of America’s most fiercely defended statutes. However, it is also one of the most hotly debated facets of American law. Mass shootings have become a common aspect of the news cycle, especially those that take place at educational institutions. However, despite tragedies such as the March 27 shooting at a Tennessee school, lawmakers in several states have pushed against gun control legislation. In some cases, states have passed laws that make firearms more readily available. This is despite a majority of Americans supporting stricter gun control. This trend led to Popovich speaking out over the weekend.

Popovich Blasts Lawmakers

During his media availability ahead of the Spurs’ April 9 regular-season finale against the Mavericks, Popovich gave a nine-minute speech about gun control. He primarily directed his comments at leaders in Texas, such as Governor Greg Abbott. “I just wondered because we have a governor and lieutenant governor and an attorney general that made it easier to have more guns…That was a response to our kids getting murdered. I just thought that was a little bit strange decision. It’s just me, though.” He also called out Texas Senator Ted Cruz by name as he lambasted the “myth of the Second Amendment”.

However, Popovich didn’t limit his comments to Texas alone. He also spoke about the Tennessee State House expelling two Black lawmakers for supporting a student-led gun control rally in early April. “I mean, we’ve got two young Black guys in Tennessee who just got railroaded by a bunch of people that I would bet down deep in their soul want to go back to Jim Crow. And what they just did is a good start. It’s beyond comprehension. And what were they guilty of? They actually protested?” Popovich said. With another mass shooting occurring earlier on April 10, Popovich’s words are likely to ring truer than ever.
