As fans eagerly count down the days to this highly anticipated event, expectations are running high. The BET Hip-Hop Awards continue to serve as a platform for recognizing and celebrating the achievements of hip-hop’s finest. The awards also providing a stage for artists to deliver performances that will be remembered for years to come. With a blend of established legends and emerging stars, the 2023 award show should be a night of musical excellence. And a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop in the global music landscape.

Last year’s award show was equally memorable. Per usual, it’s a night to remember in pop culture. One viral moment that made headlines last year was when Latto won “Song Of The Year.” Fans remember when Kodak Black had something to publicly say regarding her win. He expressed he felt that the network should have been boycotted for awarding Latto with the honor. “This whole s**t looked like a damn plot. Then I look at the ‘gram like what shorty blocked me for?” Kodak said on an IG live rant. “They probably hollerin’ at BET, like don’t give him that s**t. I told [people] weeks ago, ‘Watch they finna play with me and give it to frappuccino.’” Latto had her own clapback, which she shared on X (F.K.A. Twitter), “What kinda frappuccino I look like I taste like??? [tongue emoji].” Stay tuned to HNHH for more moments and music news.

Fivio Foreign Refuses To Sell His Catalog For Eight Figure Payout

One of New York’s big-time talents, Fivio Foreign, has really caught a lot of steam over the past couple of years. Ever since 2021 when he got a placement on Kanye West’s Donda record, more and more fans have taken notice of what he can do. His lengthy and impressive verse on the album’s hit song, “Off The Grid,” was certainly a standout moment. He even got Kanye West to rap over the drill beat and both showed terrific chemistry on that cut. Since that point, all Fivio has done since that point is garner more attention to him.

Just a few weeks ago, he made history by becoming the first rapper to make a song using an AI system. He partnered with a Japanese brand called SOUNDRAW, to help create a beat for his next song, “Doin Me.” He also raps on top of a drill instrumental, and it is already gaining some traction with over 32,000 streams. Many people have not heard of SOUNDRAW but it was a historic moment in the music industry and for Fivio to do this collaboration.

Fivio Foreign Is Keeping His Music For Himself

Because of all of this success since his career started back in 2019, Fivio has the chance to cash out. The New York rapper recently discovered that he could sell his short catalog for well over eight figures. It is a crazy thing to fathom, but he has really developed a strong career already. However, Fivio is going against the recent trend. In the tweet above, he says, “I found out I could sell my catalog for 8 figures.. I’m not tho [sleeping emoji].” Dr. Dre, Future, and a handful have others have sold the respective discographies for a large amount as well, but Fivio is possibly waiting to see if that number could increase.

What are your initial thoughts on Fivio Foreign saying he will not sell his musical catalog for eight figures? Do you think he is making a mistake not participating in this recent trend? Will his discography be worth more in the future? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Fivio Foreign, as well as the rest of the music world.

GloRilla Explains “Dropping The Rakes” With Fivio Foreign On Accident In New Photo

GloRilla’s lyrics make her sound just as bada** as her contemporaries. Still, throughout her rise to fame, the Memphis native has kept us laughing with her ignorance on several topics. There was the time when she stressed out her stylist by throwing rented sunglasses into the crowd. This prompted the rap diva’s team to snatch them back from an enthusiastic fan. Elsewhere, she also faced considerable backlash for posting a throwback photo with a gun on social media – a decision which has had seriously negative impacts on the careers of other Black stars.

The most recent reason for Big Glo to raise eyebrows was due to a link-up with Fivio Foreign. Rather than speculating about the pair being in a relationship, hip-hop heads are questioning what prompted the 24-year-old to throw up a gang sign while she was posing with the New Yorker. As DJ Akademiks pointed out, the “F.N.F.” hitmaker was “dropping the rakes” alongside her fellow artist, which is a diss directed toward the Gangster Disciples gang,

GloRilla Explains Throwing Up Gang Signs with Fivio

Upon hearing about the stir being raised by concerned users, Glo shared a statement on Facebook addressing the situation. “I thought he was telling me to throw up his gang,” the rising starlet clarified earlier this week. “I did not know what it meant until after we took da picture 🙄🙄🙄🙄,” she added, clearly annoyed by all the drama unfolding. Now that that’s cleared up, the black-haired beauty can get back on preparing her debut album, which she began teasing last month.

Fivio Foreign isn’t the only celebrity that GloRilla has been spotted out and about with so far this month. Earlier in September, she and SZA linked up to attend one of Beyonce’s three star-studded concerts in Los Angeles. Both of them donned bold and beautiful silver outfits at the Virgo Queen’s request. See photos from that exciting evening at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Who Is Opening Lil Tjay’s ‘Beat The Odds Tour?’

In just two days, Lil Tjay will launch the Beat The Odds Tour — his first since 2021, when he toured his second album, Destined 2 Win. Since then, he’s recovered after being shot seven times during a failed robbery attempt in New Jersey last June, and released his third studio album, 222, this July.

Tjay will be joined on this tour by a slew of artists, including frequent collaborator Fivio Foreign, Dej Loaf, and rising stars Skilla Baby, Joony, Dina Ayada, Killy, Lithe, and Karri. See below for more info about the Beat The Odds Tour openers.

Fivio Foreign

Brooklyn rapper Fivio Foreign is best known for his collaborations with late drill rap vanguard Pop Smoke, as well as high-profile collabs with the likes of Drake, Kanye West, Lil Baby, and Quavo. After being featured in the 2020 XXL Freshman Class, he released his debut album, B.I.B.L.E. in 2022, debuting at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Dej Loaf

Blog era fave Dej Loaf first came to national prominence in 2014 with the release of her second mixtape, Sell Sole, and its single “Try Me.” She was signed to Columbia Records, but after years of delays, split from the label to independently release Sell Sole II in 2020. Since then, the Detroit native has made regular appearances as a coveted features artist for artists like Doe Boy and Tyla Yaweh.

Skilla Baby

Another Detroit rapper, Skill Baby is protege of Sada Baby, whose work ethic is every bit as uncompromising as his contemporaries like Babyface Ray and 42 Dugg. After releasing two projects in 2022, he followed up this year with the Controversy mixtape alongside fellow Motor City rapper Tee Grizzley.

Joony

Hailing from Maryland, Joony sing-raps over soulful and occasionally haunting beats, venting about life and relationships. He’s quite prolific; his latest album, Sh*tumss, dropped in May, just a year after his last, Pretty In Black. You can catch him on Tjay’s London, Birmingham, and Glasgow dates.

Dina Ayada

Dina Ayada is a rapper and singer from Morocco who has built an impressive following on moody songs like “Miles Away” and “Games.” There isn’t a whole lot of info about her yet, but she’s got an intriguing sound and a cool look that could lead to more growth in the future. She’s billed on the UK dates of the tour.

Killy

A Canadian rapper of mixed Bajan and Filipino heritage, he’s already gotten Drake’s attention, and released an impressive collection of projects in just the six short years since his debut in 2017. His latest, K3 is less than a week old as of this writing. He’ll be joining Tjay on his Canadian dates.

Lithe

When the tour swings around to Australia, local singer Lithe will join, performing popular tracks like “Lot Of Love,” “Pessimist,” and “Hold Out.”

Karri

The tour’s West Coast swing will see rising San Francisco R&B singer Karri tag along. His latest release is the four-song EP, Only U.

Fivio Foreign Weighs In On YK Osiris-Sukihana Controversy

YK Osiris is dealing with the aftermath of kissing reality star Sukihana without her permission. Video footage caught the 24-year-old rapper forcing himself onto the Love & HipHop: Miami cast member, and fans are outraged at the incident. And while he’s since apologized about the sexual assault — with Suki accepting the apology — YK Osiris is still getting blasted on social media. New York rapper Fivio Foreign gave his two cents to Hollywood Unlocked as well, giving YK some much-needed advice.

“Just as a Black man in America and how our Black women are portrayed, you always got to be delicate… So you just got to read the room,” said Fivio Foreign. The B.I.B.L.E. album artist also talked about how Black men and Black women relate in today’s culture. “Now, I don’t want to put another Black man down, but I feel for her and I got daughters.” While Fivio, YK, and Suki are all part of the music industry, situations like this one show how far the rap game has to go in terms of respect and awareness.

What’s Next For YK Osiris, Sukihana, And Fivio Foreign?

As this scandal slowly quiets down, the question is what next? For YK, it’s an interesting time in his career, to say the least. His one studio album, The Golden Child, dropped back in 2019. Since then, he’s only released one single, “Set Me Free,” with Lecrae. As for Sukihana, she wants to put this issue behind her. She has a new song with Afro B called “Casamigos (Pour It In My Cup)” that’s an absolute banger. She was also cast as a judge for last year’s Baddies West: Auditions.

When it comes to Fivio Foreign, he isn’t just doling out free advice to the other rappers in hot water. After his album drop last year, which got him BET Hip Hop Awards nominations for Best New Hip Hop Artist and Impact Track, he released a new single in March 2023: “Ay Lala,” which includes Malik Montana and Luciano, featuring Baby Gang. His latest content is the Without Warning EP, which you can read more about below.

Kanye West & Fivio Foreign Team Up Again On New Single “Concussion”

Kanye West x Fivio Foreign

Although Kanye West is making a comeback with a new collaboration. Fivio Foreign recently announced the release of their joint single, “Concussion,” which dropped on June 1st. In the track, Kanye positions himself as a veteran of hip-hop, addressing the hardships and resilience of himself and those who came before him.  According to TMZ, Fivio […]

Who Is Rapper Fivio Foreign?

All eyes were on Kanye West back in 2021. Amid the endless hype of Donda and multiple project delays, the record was more than solely a Kanye project. With Donda, Ye was looking to create a defining album for hip-hop as a whole. This sentiment was reflected in the feature list ranging from DaBaby to Jay-Z. However, one of the more unknown features of the project came in the form of Fivio Foreign. The Brooklyn MC shocked fans with his feature on “Off The Grid,” becoming the main talk of a song that featured West and Playboi Carti. The drill banger would become one of the most successful tracks off of Donda, solidifying rapper Fivio Foreign’s fame in the hip-hop world.

However, “Off the Grid” didn’t propel Fivio from irrelevancy to stardom. He rose to fame in 2019 with his single “Big Drip,” featuring Lil Baby and Quavo. The track’s success would land him a $750,000 deal with Colombia Records. He also landed a feature on Drake’s “Demons,” which charted at 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. A tougher and scrappier character, it didn’t take long for Fivio’s rapid flow to solidify him as an in-demand feature artist in the rap space.

Pop Smoke Mentored Fivio Foreign

Fivio Foreign’s ambitions go far beyond featuring on prominent artists’ hit songs. After the passing of New York’s drill icon Pop Smoke, the 33-year-old is looking to inherit that mantle. Even though Pop was a decade younger than Fivio, he was taking a fraternal interest in the career of his peer. In fact, he attempted to get the label that signed him to sign Fivio, too. A great deal of Fivio’s modern-day success has its roots in the worldwide success that Pop was beginning to achieve. It’s why West took note of the sound and implemented it into Donda. The point is there seems to be a sort of moral obligation from Fivio to carry on his legacy.

In his mid-20s, he was still nothing more than just another guy mean-mugging into the camera of several YouTube videos shot in Brooklyn. For years, he had to watch his contemporaries get signed while he remained on the streets. However, that struggle would morph into uniquely potent and vexed bars from Fivio, who often raps about his chaotic upbringing. At its core, drill music was founded as a charged release from the struggles of street life. That very core has caused a fair bit of controversy in New York, with Mayor Eric Adams claiming that drill was “alarming.” He would end up speaking directly to Fivio, who refused his wishes to tone down the genre’s sound. Now, Fivio Foreign is morphing into the vocal rapper of New York drill that he always had the potential to be.

Fivio Released Debut Studio Album B.I.B.L.E In 2022

Last year saw Fivio continue to grow his notoriety. His debut studio album, B.I.B.L.E, is wholly focused on creating drill with a sense of crossover appeal. While it was a fairly surface-level take on the drill’s popular sonic tropes, the album experienced moderate success behind its lead single, “City of Gods.” West would return the love for Fivio Foreign’s verse off Donda, bringing Alicia Keys into the mix. Featuring synth-wave keys and a distorted 808, the track has done over 100 million streams on Spotify. Other record highlights were “Changed On Me” and “Confidence.” While the overall album was a mixed bag, Fivio proved that he could hold his own as the leading voice throughout an entire project.

2023 Has Been A Trying Year For Fivio

However, 2023 hasn’t been the easiest year for Fivio Foreign. News recently surfaced that Fivio would miss Rolling Loud. He stated, “My first time missing a show, and I feel so crazy about it, but my body dealing w some real issues. Just keep me in yah prayers.” His absence from the event arrives a month after he revealed he was struggling with his mental health: “Scratch dat… I’m not healed I’m depressed.” Additionally, his “Demon Time” diamond chain was reportedly snatched earlier this month. However, Fivio is still releasing new music amidst his rough moment. On May 19, he released “Bag On Em,” produced by 15-year-old wunderkind Mini Boom.

While Fivio Foreign has had a rough few months, he’s still pivoted himself for a significant upcoming decade. From having his album produced by Kanye West to collaborating with multiple A-list MCs, Fivio is in a position to continue to push the new wave drill scene in New York. Reportedly sporting a net worth of $1.5 million, he’s a far cry from his days on the streets after his mother passed away. In addition, all signs are pointing to a new project from Fivio this calendar year.

Fivio Foreign’s Got His Chain Snatched

It appears Fivio Foreign has been going through it these past few months. Whether it’s unpaid videographers, baby mama drama, or his street cred getting questioned Fivi can’t catch a break. Not only that the New York Drill star had to miss Rolling Loud due to some health issues. However, Fivio Foreign did reach out with a heartfelt tweet to the festival and his fans. In tandem with his apology, he also said, “My first time missing a show and I feel so crazy about it but my body dealing w some real issues.. Juss keep me in yah prayers.”

Fivio Foreign’s absence from the music festival comes about a month after he revealed he was going through some mental struggles. “Scratch dat.. I’m not healed I’m depressed..,” he tweeted. Although, amidst missing Rolling Loud, the New York rhymer did tease a new track with Meek Mill as a consolation. Now, it seems Fivio Foreign is finding himself dealing with more bumps in the road. A few days ago, news leaked that the rapper’s chain has been stolen.

Fivio Foreign’s Chain Is On Tour

In a recent interview, Big Pluto, the man claiming to have Fivi’s chain loosely admitted to snatching it. When asked if that was the rapper’s neck jewelry, he detailed that Fivio Foreign did a deal with a jeweler to make duplicates. In the video with 16ShotEm, Pluto is seen with the chain around his neck. Not only that, the diamond piece was Fiviio Foreign’s infamous demon time chain. Additionally, the chain snatcher verified the piece with 16 by sharing that it was engraved with Fivio’s name.

Later in the interview, Pluto mentioned that the demon time chain only went as far as the name. “I guess it mean[s] demon time, but n-ggas don’t be on that for real,” he said to 16. After confirming the owner of the chain, Pluto mentioned that Fivio’s camp has been threatening him in his DMs. It appears Fivio Foreign’s chain is going on a world tour, who knows if he’ll get it back. Do you think he’ll get his chain back? What do you think of this situation? Let the HNHH crew know in the comments below.
