Celebrities With Rap Songs Named After Them

Celebrity-named rap songs have been an occurrence for decades. It wouldn’t be accurate to call them a trend because they never declined in popularity. At this point, they’re a staple in the genre. Listeners that grew up before the streaming era took off may recall multiple artists dropping freestyles named after celebrities. These tracks may have only featured one bar about the star and maybe a sample of their voice. Yet, having the song named after them would grab people’s attention.

Since those days, several artists have gone even further and built more layered songs and named them after a celebrity. When it happens these days, people often wonder if the celebrity has heard it – and what they thought of it. We’ve gathered seven celebrity-named songs in this list and discussed them.

“Forest Whitaker” – Migos (2015)

This is one of the rap songs with a celebrity name that goes all the way in with its theme. First things first, RIP Takeoff. Migos is one of the most popular groups of modern times. They certainly had a run where they seemed to be everywhere musically. Their hooks have always been one of the most magnetic things about their music. The hook on this song is a testament to that. Not only does it reference Forest Whitaker in a physical sense, but the verses reference several of his movie roles. The legendary actor even gave the song his stamp of approval. “I listened to it and it’s really pretty brilliant,” he said in an interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber in 2019. Whitaker being aware of the song (because of his daughter) and liking it is definitely a flex.

“Ric Flair Drip”  – Offset & Metro Boomin (2017)

This celebrity-named rap song takes the concept to the next level. For the uninitiated, Ric Flair was a wrestler that appeared in various wrestling promotions. His character was known for his extravagant lifestyle, but those close to him have shared this aspect of him extended to real life. Naturally, for a rapper like Offset, this resonated with him.

The music video actually featured Ric Flair himself. And it wasn’t a cameo – he was there the whole time. In terms of visuals, it’s very interesting to see Ric dancing with people half his age but wearing jewelry just as expensive as theirs. Offset’s hook references Ric’s signature “Wooo!” catchphrase directly, and Ric does it himself in the music video. Rap and wrestling have been hand-in-hand for years as various celebrities have gotten in the ring. This crossover delighted fans of both worlds.

“Dua Lipa” – Jack Harlow (2022)

This celebrity-named rap song is named after a musical artist. Dua Lipa is one of the most popular artists in the pop world today. Jack Harlow is one of the most famous artists in the rap world. Naturally, fans on both sides were curious about what this song would sound like when the title was revealed. Truthfully, there’s only one line in the song that Jack says that references her. However, that one line was him shooting his shot at her.

The timing of release and recording is often a mystery for listeners, as Harlow shared he FaceTimed Dua to play the song for her. Based on his retelling, she didn’t exactly “love” it but it didn’t stop him from releasing it either. Still, in terms of manifestation, the two of them were seen in public together a few times. Perhaps things worked out in his favor after all.

“Kobe” – Chief Keef (2012)

This is one of the older celebrity-named rap songs on our list. First things first, RIP Kobe Bryant. Chief Keef is hailed as a legend in the rap world to this day. This is one of his earlier underrated hits from when his career was just beginning to elevate. Naturally, the hook is where his reference to The Black Mamba is. Kobe himself is not in the music video, but shots of the Staples Center and a billboard with him on it are. Keef being in L.A. for the video adds to the theme of the song’s title. Keef added another notch in his innovator belt by taking a line people have used in verses and turning it into the hook for the song.

“Tia Tamera” – Doja Cat feat. Rico Nasty (2019)

This celebrity-named rap song references two celebrities in its title. It’s easily the most fun and lighthearted song on our list. This makes sense considering the type of artist Doja Cat is. Doja’s supporters may remember seeing her lay the groundwork for this song while on Instagram Live. The song’s name comes from twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry whose careers started on the sitcom Sister Sister.

Since then, they have appeared in several other roles, and Tia Mowry has started a top-rated YouTube channel. Doja’s hook is where her reference to the sisters comes in and she continues to use punchlines referencing other black celebrity women within it. The music video features Doja and Rico Nasty paying homage to the twins. Based on how Doja has been tweeting recently, more rap-focused songs like this could be coming very soon.

“Shabba” – Ferg feat. A$AP Rocky (2013)

This celebrity-named rap song is somewhat double-layered. A$AP Rocky and Ferg have had multiple collaborations throughout their careers. These collaborations always caused a buzz amongst fans of A$AP Mob but this one reached far beyond those dedicated listeners. This track is credited as a Ferg song with Rocky as the feature. The song’s title references another musical artist, Shabba Ranks.

Ferg is on the hook here and references Shabba’s jewelry in reference to his own. Interestingly enough, Shabba himself makes an appearance on the song’s remix. In fact, it’s more than just an appearance – he drops a full verse. People have notoriously not been able to understand his verses and he continues to add to that situation with this one. However, that doesn’t stop listeners from enjoying the aggressive, high-energy song.

“Tom Ford” – Jay-Z (2013)

This is a celebrity-named rap song that lines up perfectly with the artist that made it. Jay’s financial flexes are on another level at this point in his career. His verses on Watch The Throne introduced many listeners to multiple brands they were unaware of. However, while Tom Ford is a brand not many of us own, it is one we’re fairly aware of. This track was one of the singles for Jay’s 12th album, Magna Carta Holy Grail.

This is another track where the celebrity gave their seal of approval for the track. Ford said, “…It’s a kind of validation of one’s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.” Jay drops Ford’s name in the hook of the track which had many listeners rapping it along with him. Despite Doja Cat’s statement calling her last projects “mediocre pop,” she continues to receive recognition for her work. Among them were “Get Into It (Yuh),” “I Like You (A Happier Song),” “Need to Know,” “Vegas,” and “Woman.”Other notable award winners of the night include Khalid, Justin Bieber, and The Kid LAROI.

Doja has not reacted to receiving the award. Following her appearance at the Met Gala, however, she has shifted her focus to her upcoming album. She previously teased the album on social media with potential titles like the long-rumored Hellmouth. Though none of the songs have been released, the album may be out sooner than we think. Doja Wasn’t Kidding About “No More Pop”

A few weeks ago, Doja Cat went live on Instagram to give fans a sneak peek of the upcoming album. However, instead of playing full songs, she previewed a few seconds from each track. When fans asked for more, she played one second from the beginning and middle of each song. However, she eventually reverted to her usual trolling behavior, playing bad beats she found on YouTube. While this may have frustrated some fans, Doja appeared to be having fun.

Today, however, Doja gave fans an actual taste of the album. She really wasn’t kidding when she said she wasn’t making pop music. The snippet sounds very much like a modern version of 90s hip-hop. The beat is simple, just a drum machine and a live bassline. In part of the clip, Doja raps over the beat. In another part, the hook can be heard. During that portion, Doja sings the lyrics, “When life’s like this, I’m thankful / when life’s like this, be grateful.” What do you think of the new snippet? Let us know in the comments!

Doja Cat Announces New Album Title, Calls Last Two “Cash Grabs”

Doja Cat is once again making some pretty controversial statements on social media. The singer has been generating excitement for her upcoming album by leaking snippets of unreleased songs on Instagram Live. She also announced that the album’s new title would be First of All. While she was online, she tweeted about her previous albums, as well. Doja claims that both Hot Pink and Planet HER were “cash grabs.” She said that she could now disappear to an island and touch grass while fans weep for “mediocre pop.”

In the past, Doja Cat has tweeted “no more pop” and admitted that some of her rap verses are “mid and corny,” although she enjoys making music. She believes her resentment for pop music may stem from the way it gets overplayed. She was recently awarded for a billion spins on the radio and feels she is constantly being shoved down people’s throats.

Doja Has Already Filmed Her Next Video

Following her appearance at the Met Gala and hosting an after-party with Diddy, Doja Cat has shifted her focus to her upcoming album. She previously teased the album on social media with potential titles. Though none of the songs have been released, the album may be out sooner than we think. Doja Cat was recently spotted filming a music video in Los Angeles, but it is unclear which song the visual will accompany. The Grammy Award-winning artist was seen taking over the city streets in a crop top and jeans.

Recently, Doja Cat’s Instagram feed featured a series of images that appears to be from the same shoot. As the anticipation for Doja’s upcoming album builds, it seems she is leaving her mark on the fashion industry as well. She recently attended the Met Gala dressed as the late Karl Lagerfeld’s cat. Doja took her feline duties seriously, meowing throughout interviews that night. However, she was caught breaking Anna Wintour’s no-smoking rule, which earned her both laughs and backlash. What do you think of Doja’s comments about her previous albums? Do they make you excited to hear what she has coming next? Let us know in the comments!

Doja Cat Says Her Last Two Albums Were ‘Cash Grabs’ And We ‘Fell For It’

The anticipation for Doja Cat‘s new album is building at a rapid pace. The “Woman” singer is stirring up the conversation on social media Tuesday, May 9 by leaking snippets of unreleased songs on her Instagram Live and claiming the title is no longer Hellmouth on Twitter. “its not called hEllMoUth either its called ‘First of All’ and yes I’m announcing the album title right now,” she wrote.

Along with that tweet, she also shared thoughts about her previous albums. “planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it,” she wrote. “now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop.”

Last month, she also tweeted: “no more pop.” She also confronted those criticizing her ability for hip hop: “i also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are,” she wrote. “I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that i can’t so I will.”

Her resentment for pop music could have something to do with the way music gets overplayed, which she discussed in a Variety interview. “I just got an award [from iHeartRadio] for a billion spins on the radio, so with that alone, I’m constantly being shoved down people’s throats,” she said.

Doja Cat Leaked A Snippet Of Her New Album On Instagram And Backpedaled On The Title Again

Being a Doja Cat fan is not easy. In March, speculation emerged about the title of the musician’s highly anticipated new album after she tweeted “#hellmouth.” It seemed like a simple announcement, especially after she kept confusing people about what the genre would be, saying it would be rave-influenced, rap, R&B, punk, and not pop.

However, as Doja backpedals on what genre it is, she’s also backpedaling on what the title is. “The whole album is no longer rap yall its rock/spoken word and the album title is not Hellmouth anymore,” she tweeted last month. A minute later, she added, “Album is called Moist Holes.”

The shenanigans continued Tuesday, May 9, when Doja took to Twitter to stir the pot further: “its not called hEllMoUth either its called ‘First of All’ and yes I’m announcing the album title right now.” This followed her Instagram Live in which she shared a snippet of a new song.

Moist Holes was hard to believe. First of All is now suspiciously normal. Fans are tired of hearing about it, though. In the replies, some are demanding she drop the record already. She leaked a possible tracklist on her Instagram Story last month as well. Still, no release date has been teased.

Doja Cat Was Spotted Filming A Music Video In LA, Now Fans Believe That Her ‘Hellmouth’ Album Is Moving Along Quickly

Doja Cat often speaks about her desire to quit music. Whether the “Women” rapper is joking or not is unknown. However, over the past few weeks, Doja Cat has taken to Twitter to share updates on the new music she’s working on. In March, the musician revealed the working title for her forthcoming album, Hellmouth. Shortly after, she shared the project’s direction, proclaiming, “No more pop,” letting fans know it is solely a rap project.

Now, fans believe that her Hellmouth is moving along quickly after Doja Cat was spotted filming a music video in downtown Los Angeles. In the clip, Doja Cat is recorded fiercely walking down South Broadway as a team of videographers films her.

Although fan pages have claimed the footage is from late April, no further information is known about the filming. As for Doja Cat’s forthcoming album, the entertainer has shared snippets of tracks set to make the final project. The Grammy Award-winner even shared the album’s tracklist.

“I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything. I just enjoy making music, but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that I can’t, so I will,” said Doja on social media, referring to the pending project.
