Doja Cat Updated Her ‘Scarlet’ Album Cover After The Original Had Striking Similarities To A Metal Band’s Artwork

When Doja Cat shared the artwork for her forthcoming album Scarlet earlier this week, people noticed a striking similarity between it and the cover of the metal band Chaver’s upcoming album Of Gloom. Chaver’s record was announced in late July, and has the same release date as Doja’s (September 22).

It looks like this sticky situation is already getting cleaned up. Doja posted a new version of the album cover. Instead of a purplish, big spider that’s practically identical to Chaver’s (whose art was done by Dusty Ray), it’s two spiders eerily connecting with one another. It definitely captures the weird, creepy vibe Doja has been going for. The caption reads, “SCARLET 9.22 (updated cover).”

Meanwhile, many fans are upset and turned away by her evil-leaning aesthetic. After she teased a single called “Demon” and got a tattoo of a scythe behind her ear, users online speculated that she’s a satanist and begged her to stop being so scary. Predictably, this only amped up her relentlessly wicked attitude. “Y’all so b*tchmade you probably couldn’t make it through an episode of ‘Goosebumps’, f*ckin p*ssies,” she quipped in her Instagram Story.

Scarlet is out 9/22 via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records. Find more information here.

Doja Cat Unveils Release Date And Album Cover For “Scarlet”

Doja Cat is giving out all the goods on her forthcoming album release. The 27-year-old rapper and singer is finally set to drop her fourth studio album, Scarlet on September 22. We are still unsure about how many tracks or features are going to make the project, but this is still exciting news. Doja has been dropping a lot of updates during this LP’s rollout. Just yesterday, August 29, she posted to her Instagram to show off the cover art for her new single, which will drop on Friday, September 1 with the title being “Demons.”

Before that, on August 27 Doja teased us with a sneak peek of the music video for “Demons” as well. Of course, fans have also been enjoying what appears to be a single for the album, “Paint The Town Red,” for nearly a full month. That song is almost up to 100 million streams. Looking at the cover, it is very simplistic but it certainly looks cool. A reddish-tinged creepy-crawly is the center of attention, with a little drop of blood above it. The background is a solid white, adding a nice color contrast. Doja Cat is fully committed to this devilish persona, and it will hopefully translate to the production, song themes, and message of the album too. Furthermore, if you go to her account on any music streaming service, all of her album covers are now red, which is a cool little way to promote this renaissance. It is safe to say we cannot wait for Scarlet to arrive.

What are your initial thoughts on Doja Cat’s album cover for Scarlet? Do you think this will be her best project yet? Do you think she will go in a similar direction with her style or totally switch it up? Doja Cat’s ‘Scarlet’ Cover Art Is Almost Exactly The Same As A Metal Album Set For Release On The Same Day

Last night (August 29), Doja Cat shared the cover art for her upcoming album Scarlet; While it’s fair to doubt whether this is the actual cover art given how many times Doja has changed her mind about the project, the same image appears on her official website, so it seems to be legit. Some have noticed, though, that the art is pretty much exactly the same as the cover of another album, an album that’s even coming out on the same day as Scarlet.

Pop Crave points out that spider paintings appear on the cover of both Scarlet and metal band Chaver’s upcoming album, Of Gloom, which, like Scarlet, is set for release on September 22. (Here’s Chaver’s announcement post from July 29, and here’s Doja’s from yesterday.)

There are some subtle differences between the two spiders, like the shape and position of some legs and appendages, and the shape of the fluid drop above the spider’s head. One painting isn’t just an edited version of the other, as they appear to be two distinct, albeit strikingly similar, artworks. There are more similarities than differences, though, including the fact that both covers were created by the same artist, Dusty Ray, who Chaver credited in their announcement post and who Doja credited in an Instagram Story post.

So far, neither Doja, Chaver, nor Ray have shared a public comment about the similarity between the album covers.

Doja Cat’s Highly Anticipated Fourth Album ‘Scarlet’ Finally Has A Release Date

Doja Cat is finally giving fans what they want: new music. “Attention” and “Paint The Town Red” are the new singles from her highly anticipated forthcoming album Scarlet. Still, she hasn’t revealed a release date — until now.

The “Woman” singer posted a photo of what may or may not be the album cover, with the caption reading, “SCARLET 9.22 [spider emoji].” The picture is a big, purplish spider against a white background, and of course there’s a parental advisory sticker in the bottom right corner. Fans are still suspicious after her string of lies about the album.

She also recently teased a new single titled “Demons.”

Doja announced the title Scarlet a couple of weeks ago in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She also elaborated on the content of the record. “This new album is more introspective, but I’m not leaning so hard into that to where it becomes boring,” she said. “So I want to give stories and bops. It’s a nice mixture of both. I think this project is a really fun canvas for me to play with my rap skills and talk about what’s going on in my life. But I’m not abandoning who I was and what I know about pop and singing and that aspect of music.”

Is Doja Cat A Satanist?

At some point in the careers of most big-name music acts, they endeavor a bizarre period of rumors that they’ve joined the mysterious secret society. Some think Rihanna, Kanye West, and Madonna could be in The Illuminati, for instance. Others have even been accused of making a human sacrifice or selling their soul to the devil for their success. For Doja Cat, instead of ignoring the whispers, she’s leaned into them hard, so much so that people are now asking: Is Doja Cat a Satanist?

At the beginning of May, the rapper shared that while visiting New York City for the Met Gala 2023, she dropped by the famous Bang Bang Tattoo studio. The result was a full-width anatomical bat piece on her back. Fans flooded the rapper’s comment section, deeming the work demonic. To that, she replied, “Your fear is not my problem,” as she provided a breakdown of the inspiration behind the art.

Forever a troll at heart, Doja poked fun at the outrage by dressing as a horned character during her YouTube Brandcast 2023 performance later that month. Her then album’s title, Hell Mouth, which has since been renamed to Scarlet, surely didn’t help claim the fan-inflicted hysteria.

On August 4, Doja followed the project’s lead single, “Attention,” with “Paint The Town Red.” In the official video for the record, Doja is featured alongside the Grim Reaper. She even appears in full black body paint, blackout pupils, and horns. Doja then repeated the look with a few minor adjustments on her upcoming single’s “Demons” cover art. But paired with her new scythe tattoo behind her ear, fans believe she’s fully embraced the dark side.

Doja remains unbothered by the criticism, writing on her Instagram Stories, “Y’all so b*tchmade you probably couldn’t make it through an episode of ‘Goosebumps’, f*ckin p*ssies.”

In 2018, Doja Cat spoke with The Fader, about her upbringing practicing Hinduism. Overall, Doja hasn’t confirmed or denied if she’s a card-carrying member of the Church Of Satan, but she is having fun stringing users online along.

Doja Cat Seemingly Called Out ‘B*tchmade’ People Who Can’t Handle Her ‘Demons’ Promo Or ‘An Episode Of Goosebumps’

Doja Cat is gearing up for the release of her next song, “Demons,” but she also isn’t holding back from those who can’t handle the scariness of the video or the vibes, it appears.

“Y’all so b*tchmade you probably couldn’t make it through an episode of ‘Goosebumps’, f*ckin p*ssies,” she shared in her Instagram story.

Over the past few weeks, she’s been leaning into the aesthetic on social media, with gory, red-themed photos. Her tour date poster also features a selfie where she appears to be covered in fake blood.

Many of the commenters weren’t pleased and were creeped out. “Not going to devil worship show,” one person wrote.

Others understood the horror references and came to Doja’s defense. “This is so clearly a Carrie reference y’all are sad,” another added.

“Demons” is expected to drop this Friday, with a rumored music video starring scream queen (and Wednesday Addams herself), Christina Ricci.

Doja, however, has recently faced pushback from fans who were turned off by her persona shift, as it now takes on a sarcastic tone regarding her fanbase. “nobody forced you idk why you’re talking to me like you’re my mother b*tch you sound like a crazy person,” she told one fan who pointed out that they’re the ones that support her career.

Doja Cat’s “Demons” Single Cover Art Is Chilling

It is finally here, the cover artwork is finally upon us! Doja Cat’s highly anticipated new album Scarlet seems to be getting closer by the day. Just a short time ago, the R&B megastar shared the title of her next lead single as well as the cover art. The song “Demons” is going to be out on all streaming platforms on Friday, September 1. We were first teased about the release date almost a week ago when Doja posted to her Instagram. Her silhouette revealed her wearing devil horns with the caption reading, “9.1.23 ⏳

Next, on Twitter, we got another teaser for “Demons” with her sharing some footage from the accompanying music video. It shows Doja in a bathtub from an aerial view with black water and a large, creepy, black hand pulling her head back. Doja’s eyes are rolled back revealing ghostly white eyeballs. If that was not enough to salivate over, her new ink also displays what her new themes for Scarlet will be. She recently got a really cool scythe tattoo that wraps around her entire ear. It is demon time indeed for Doja and her fans.

Now that we are just a few days away from more material from the “Say So” songwriter, the cover art is out. Well, it is here and it is blood-curdling, to say the least. At first glance, all you might see is what appears to be a living room of some sort. A comfy chair, mirror, a table with a lamp, that all is normal. But then you scan the photo and you will notice a woman hanging upside down in all black, creepily smiling at you. That woman is Doja Cat fully embracing her new controversial look. The final touch is “Demons” written into the carpet.

What are your thoughts on this single cover art for Doja Cat’s “Demons?” Are you excited for it? Do you think this track will be better than “Paint The Town Red?” We want to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
