Diddy Named Advisor of Hologram Startup Proto Inc.

Diddy Cancels NYE Party Due to Rising COVID Cases in Florida

Diddy has joined Proto Inc., formerly PORTL, as an advisor to the holoportation firm, which operates in a variety of industries, including entertainment, education, retail, enterprise, business, marketing, fashion, and the arts. Interactive holoportation is feasible thanks to Proto’s patented state-of-the-art technology, which allows a person to “beam” in real-time when they can’t physically be there. Proto was first exposed to the singer and entrepreneur when he used the new technology to “beam” from Miami to Los Angeles to sing Happy Birthday to his son King Combs.

“Sean Combs has always been an inspiring pioneer in music and business—constantly changing the game with whatever he does,” said David Nussbaum, CEO and Founder of Proto Inc. “We were honored to bring his family together last Spring, and it became the perfect example of how Proto connects people for meaningful, emotional interactions unlike any other technology. We’re so excited to be working with him as we continue to make the future a reality now.”

Combs was also a part of TRUE Capital Management’s recent $12 million Series A financing (Coinbase, Palantir). Legendary tech investor Tim Draper (Tesla, SpaceX, Twitch), early Uber investors Jillian Manus and Mike Walsh of Structure Management, Migos’ Quavo, and dozens of retired and active pro-athletes such as Marshawn Lynch, Albert Pujols, Robert Griffin III, Luke Walton, and Breanna Stewart were among the investors in the Series A round.

The DJ, producer, hype man, and all around party starter, was honored with the 2,719th star on the illustrious Hollywood Walk Of Fame. People came out in droves on Hollywood and Vine to witness the “I’m The One” maestro be honored with a star on the famous sidewalk and DJ Khaled was joined in the ceremony by some high profile friends in Jay-Z, Diddy, and Fat Joe.

“It’s just not me, it’s we,” Khaled said when standing on the podium. “I’m doing this for my kids… I just wanna make it super clear, we’re just getting started. Anything you’ve seen me do before. Just imagine at the more trillionth power level ever. Cause I’m not stoppin’, I’m making more music… they ain’t believe in us!”

He thanked his wife and kids profusely, before Fat Joe took to the stage to say some words on Khaled. “When I met him, he made me move out of New York to Miami,” Joe said. “When I think of Khaled, I think of love. That’s the only reason why you see the heavyweights here like you see them.”

Today In Hip Hop History: Nas Released His Third LP ‘I Am’ 23 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2022 04 06 at 7.34.25 AM

Released by Columbia Records, Nas’ third album, I Am, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold 470,000 copies in its first week and went on to be certified double platinum in the United States. The album was nominated in 2000 for Best Rap Album at the 43rd Grammy Awards.

Originally intended to be a double album titled I Am…The Autobiography, the album was arguably Nas’ most honest and poetic project at the time. Although the additional tracks were scrapped due to bootlegging of the original sessions, the intention for the theme and tone of the project can still be felt on the single-disc LP that was released.

Nas’ cover art has always been an iconic staple of his work. Usually consisting of his face superimposed over his native Queens, each cover has served as a visual representation of Nas as an artist. This particular cover was shot by famed portrait photographer Danny Hastings. In order to create the image of Nas’ face in the Pharaoh mask in a pre-Photoshop world, Hastings created a clay mold for Nas’ face (which in fact almost killed him when clay got lodged in his nostrils, nearly suffocating him).

This album wasn’t only popular in the United States. I Am… made appearances on music charts in Australia, Canada, Norway, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The two official singles from this project claimed spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Nas Is Like..” peaked at #86 and “Hate Me Now” climbed a little higher to take the #62 spot.

After the release of this album, Nas went on to release seven more solo albums and two collaborative projects. Nas continues to perform and is known as one of the most prolific rappers of his or any generation. Take some time today to listen to this album appreciate the career of a living legend.

Diddy on Chris Rock and Will Smith: “I Never Confirmed They Had Reconciled”

AAVz3OT

Diddy was the first presenter to hit the stage following Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Diddy stated they would fix the issue like a family at The Gold Party after the ceremony. Page Six would report the next morning that it was solved at the Vanity Fair event.

“That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Diddy said. “It’s all love, they’re brothers.”

On Wednesday, Tony Rock stated there had been no amends made between the two. Diddy also connected with TMZ to state he never confirmed the makeup.

“I never confirmed they had reconciled,” he said. “I said, ‘As brothers, they will work it out, and let’s move on with love.’”

Diddy Lied About Will Smith And Chris Rock Reconciling After The Oscars Slap, Rock’s Brother Claims

A couple days ago, Diddy insisted that Will Smith and Chris Rock settled their differences after the former infamously slapped the latter during the 2022 Oscars. He said at the time, “That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that. […] It’s all love. They’re brothers.”

Since then, though, there have been reports that what Diddy said isn’t entirely accurate, as a TMZ report indicated Smith and Rock have not spoken since the slap. That report was later updated to note, “A source in Diddy’s camp tells us he never claimed Chris and Will met up — he spoke with them individually — and then reiterated what he said on stage, the two are brothers and ‘it’s all love.’”

Now, somebody close to Rock — his brother, actor and comedian Tony Rock — has weighed in, reiterating that Rock and Smith have not made up. Somebody asked Tony Rock on Twitter, “so Diddy was lying when he said Chris and Will made up that night and are good now?” He responded simply, “Yup.”

It would appear, then, the closest thing to contact the two have had since the incident was Smith’s public apology, which reads in part, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Tony Rock Says Will Smith and Chris Rock Didn’t Make Peace as Diddy Suggested

Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock is calling cap on Diddy’s report that Chris and Will Smith are good following their viral Oscars moment. Tony was on Twitter answering questions from his fans when questions about his brother’s state poured in. The main takeaway is a sharp reply of “Yep” when asked was Diddy lying about the two patching up the moment.

According to Tony, the beef is far from over, citing that “It’s on bro” when asked about further interactions.

Diddy was the first presenter to hit the stage following Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Diddy stated they would fix the issue like a family at The Gold Party after the ceremony, he later revealed to Page Six that it was solved at the Vanity Fair event.

“That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Diddy said. “It’s all love, they’re brothers.”

Page Six also notes Rock and Smith agreed to work out their issues after the ceremony. You can see where Diddy had to operate on the fly during his presentation below.

It may be safe to say that neither event actually happened.
