Halle Bailey Reflects On “Love” For DDG Influencing Her Upcoming EP

Halle Bailey says that she’s “in love” with DDG and recently discussed how that experience has inspired her creativity while working on her debut solo EP. Speaking with Cosmopolitan, Bailey hinted at the direction of the new music while confirming that it’s “definitely” dropping this year.

She began by explaining that her recent work in film has served as a major inspiration, having recently starred in The Little Mermaid. From there, she went on to say that her love life has been a major source of creativity as well. “And all musical inspiration really just comes from life experiences,” she said. “Love has been a really big one for me too, because that’s something I’m experiencing for the first time, and it’s, like, ‘whoa’ in your brain. It’s just fireworks, a spark for creativity.”

Bailey then confirmed that she considers DDG her first real love. “You know, you have puppy love experiences, you think that’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love,” she said. Despite the inspiration, she says she doesn’t plan on getting too into specifics on the project.

“I don’t really talk about my personal stuff, but I will tell you where I get my creativity from,” she said. “This has been a really beautiful transformative time for me. I have all this new material to write about. It’s like, What the heck did I just experience and go through? A whirlwind of amazingness. You never know what you’re capable of until you’re put through it. I was very creatively inspired, and then from there, I fell in love. And so I really just played with those themes in my music. Sound-wise, it’s a little modern R&B-ish, with all the jazz elements and hints of pop that I love.” Be on the lookout for the new EP later this year.

Halle Bailey Says Her Debut EP Is “Definitely” Dropping This Year

Halle Bailey says that she’ll “definitely” be dropping her first EP by the end of the year. She spoke about the highly anticipated project during a recent interview with Cosmopolitan. The update comes after the release of her debut solo single, “Angel,” last month.

The conversation began with Bailey explaining how her recent life experiences, such as starring in The Little Mermaid, have influenced the direction of her music. “Ariel was my college experience. She was the one to say, ‘Look, look what you have in you. You can.’ Nettie was the same type of lesson, almost in a spiritual way. These characters are speaking to me and teaching me,” she said. “It’s cool to learn things about life through their eyes. And all musical inspiration really just comes from life experiences. Love has been a really big one for me too, because that’s something I’m experiencing for the first time.”

Addison Rae Promotes Debut “AR” EP In A Tutu & Sparkly Bra

When Addison Rae first began posting videos on TikTok several years ago, it’s unlikely that the young multi-talent ever envisioned her career would reach the heights it has today. She currently boasts 37.4M Instagram followers and continues to come across exciting new opportunities to work with other stars and expand her network. One of her most recent collaborations came in the form of a song called “2 die 4” featuring Charli XCX, which appears on the model’s debut AR EP.

The five-track effort arrived this past New Music Friday (August 18), following “Obsessed” being released as a single. Besides her work with the “Boom Clap” hitmaker, Rae also showed us her vocal talent on titles like “I got it bad,” “Nothing On (But The Radio),” and “it could’ve been u.” Thus far the reviews of AR have been notably favourable, with many expressing excitement to see what will come next from the Louisana-born creative.

Ice Spice’s “Like..?” Projected To Move 14,500 First-Week Units

The early sales projections are in for Ice Spice’s highly-anticipated debut extended play, Like..? According to reports from HitsDailyDouble, the project will sell around 14,500 first-week units. This figure will likely land it outside of the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Ice Spice dropped the project on January 20 through 10K Projects and Capitol Records. She had only announced it just hours prior.

The EP features her biggest singles to date, including “Munch (Feelin’ U)”, “Bikini Bottom”, and “In Ha Mood.” The only guest verse on the project comes from Lil Tjay, who appears on “Gangsta Boo.”

“I made the song, and then I was just thinking who I would hear on it really. But I wanted it to be a real genuine collab,” Ice Spice recently told Apple Music 1’s New Music Radio. “We’ve been friends since last year, so I was just like, ‘Yeah, who better than him?’”

She added: “We’re both from the Bronx. I made the song before she passed. Right before, actually. So, yeah. That was a really sad, very exact coincidence.”

Ice Spice also explained the title of the song was in honor of the late Three 6 Mafia rapper of the same name.

“So Gangsta Boo’s fire. RIP Gangsta Boo, too. Feel me?” she said.

While the sales aren’t bad for a surprise debut EP, the critical consensus has been even more impressive. Pitchfork’s review began trending on social media after the outlet gave it a 7.6 rating out of 10. This is the same score for Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, and a higher score than many other beloved projects.
