That’s why fans had a variety of reactions to her “surprise” announcement that she gave birth to her first child in the first week of the new year. She later confirmed that it was actually the boy’s father, DDG, who came up with what would eventually be his name, Halo.

Now Halle Bailey is getting back into her routine, starting with a new magazine cover showing off her post-pregnancy look. She appears on the newest edition of Essence Magazine, which highlights her specifically among a larger focus on black women in Hollywood. “thank you so much @essence for this incredible honor 🌹✨i’m forever grateful” she captioned her Instagram post sharing some of the pictures from the piece. Speaking with Hollywood Unlocked, DDG revealed the decision was to push away “negative vibes.”

“I think it was more so people was already giving us negative vibes, so it’s like why let ‘em know then make her pregnancy stressful?”

With a new baby, Halle Bailey and DDG have combined for a new Instagram for their son Halo. In the initial images on the account, Halo’s face is blurred for security.

DDG Is “Going To The Top” On His Latest Single

DDG for some reason just does not hit the sweet spot for us when it comes to crafting memorable tracks. The multi-hyphenate from Michigan does not have to be a wordsmith by any means. Creating easy-going tracks that are catchy is not a bad thing to make a career off of. However, DDG just does not have that special sauce even on his latest single “Going To The Top.”

This follows up his “She Don’t Play” offering from late December. It was more a of club/party track about a woman who could get whatever she wanted. There are a lot of artists who make similar music to DDG. But, what helps them stand out is the way they deliver their lyrics and the production choices they make.

DDG has much to celebrate, including welcoming a newborn with girlfriend Halle Bailey. And while he’s made his mark both on YouTube and in the rap game, he’s now diving head-on into the fashion world.

Fresh off his trip overseas for Paris Fashion Week, DDG returns to drop his newest collection with Anti Social Social Club. The collection is aptly titled “Who We Hate To Be,” boasting signature designs from the popular streetwear brand and new accessories such as the 3M Scotchlite hat.

“My love for both streetwear and couture is no secret,” says DDG about the campaign. “I’ve been rocking with Anti Social Social Club for years, so it’s a real honor to partner with them for their newest drop. My creativity doesn’t stop at music and through collaborations like this, I’m able to share my broader artistic vision in fashion.”

This is certainly not the first collab with a rapper for Anti Social Social Club, following collaborations with Rich The Kid and 1500 or Nothin’, the latter of which paid tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle.

Anti Social Social Club shared the same sentiments: “When we learned that DDG was a fan of Anti Social Social Club, we were excited to shoot and style him in ASSC’s iconic Mind Games graphic, with a flare from the reflective material, including our 3M Scotchlite hat. As they did with Rihanna in 2023, fans frantically played detective to determine if Halle Bailey was expecting her first child. For months, the “Angel” singer managed to avoid discussing future plans with her boyfriend DDG. That all changed on January 6, when the first-time parents confirmed the birth of their son, Halo.

Now that the news is out, Bailey has begun sharing content she recorded while pregnant. But some aren’t particularly fond of the light-hearted material, given how secretive Bailey had been. Some have even called her out for gaslighting and lying to her followers when they asked if she was with child. Well, Bailey has had enough. On January 28, Bailey took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam folks for pushing the narrative.

“I never lied or even said anything about it, honey,” she wrote. “Making a joke about my nose was the farthest I went. I’ll never understand why you are mad i protected my own peace, wouldn’t you do the same? And I’m gonna share my pics now if I want to because my son is here safely. Halle Bailey Said She ‘Stayed Off Of All Social Media’ During Her Pregnancy In Order To Keep Herself ‘Sane And Okay’

Halle Bailey had an incredible 2023, with the premiere of two blockbuster films, as well as her debut solo single. And she’s already kicking off 2024 with a bang. Earlier this month, Bailey revealed that she and her beau, rapper DDG, welcomed a baby boy named Halo last year.

Though she remained mum about the pregnancy throughout much of last year, keeping her body hidden with large flowing dresses and garments, Bailey finally took some time to answer fans’ questions via Snapchat.

One fan asked “Was the [sic] blogs and cameras stressful while pregnant?”

Bailey responded, saying “I mean, a little bit, but honestly I stayed off of all social media. I really tried to, just to keep myself sane and okay.”

Though she was quiet on social, that didn’t stop fans from coming up with their own theories, and attempting to catch Bailey or DDG slipping up. But the couple was committed to sharing the news on their own terms.

“I know that there was a lot of people who would always, like, comment and be like, ‘We know, girl, we know.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s great that you know. But I’m gonna just chill, you know, and that’s wonderful if you support me, and if not, that’s okay too. I hope you have a wonderful life.”

Now, it appears DDG and Bailey are enjoying their new parenthood. So much so, they created an Instagram account for Halo.
