Tour

While no tour has yet been announced, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz did tour for their 2016 Collegrove project, so another tour wouldn’t be out of the question.

Lil Wayne Name-Drops Devin Booker In ‘Phresha,’ His And 2 Chainz’s First Single From ‘Welcome 2 ColleGrove’

2 Chainz and Lil Wayne are true to their word. Earlier this week, Wayne shared on his Discord channel that “Presha” would arrive ahead of his and 2 Chainz’s performance on the October 20 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that night. And earlier in October, 2 Chainz reportedly let it slip, “Me and Wayne’s album drops next month. This is a full-circle moment.” (2 Chainz also told The Source that it would “be coming out before the year’s over with.”)

Right on cue, “Presha” is here this morning (October 20), and Welcome 2 ColleGrove will arrive on November 17. The album’s release date was confirmed via press release, which also relayed, “ColleGrove is a portmanteau of Chainz’s hometown, College Park, Georgia, and Wayne’s hometown, Hollygrove, Louisiana.” Their original ColleGrove collaborative album dropped all the way back in March 2016 — peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

The bar is set high for Welcome 2 ColleGrove from jump in “Presha,” as the single starts with someone yelling, “Yoooo! This sh*t is un-believ-able!” The beat drops — an infectious juxtaposition of high-pitched whistling and thumping bass — and 2 Chainz raps, “Yeah, we cookin’ now / You know this sh*t presha ’cause they lookin’ out / Say, ‘Look out for me,’ but they wasn’t lookin’ out / Got your sh*t together, suki, suki now.”

About halfway through, Lil Wayne hops on the track and delivers his bars in his signature frenetic flow. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Wayne verse without a clever sports reference: “Smokin’ dope, you can smell the boogers / Break your nose like Devin Booker.”

Watch the “Presha” lyric video above.

Lil Wayne And 2 Chainz Will Begin The Road To ‘Collegrove 2’ With Its First Single, ‘Presha’

Lil Wayne is currently on my television screen to predict tonight’s (October 19) Thursday Night Football matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints. He’s smirking while Undisputed host Skip Bayless guesses about whether Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence will play. There are numerous reasons as to why anyone might smirk at Skip Bayless, but Lil Wayne has plenty of Skip-free reasons to smile right now.

Speaking of predictions, Lil Wayne recently relieved his fans of their prognostication duties by finally releasing Tha Fix Before Tha VI on September 29. On Tuesday (October 17), he confirmed his next single, presumably from his and 2 Chainz’s ColleGrove 2 joint project, which might arrive next month. In the Lil Wayne Discord server, he posted a 12-second video of him and 2 Chainz posing for photos while a snippet of “Presha” plays in the background. “Pressure coming 10/20,” Lil Wayne wrote alongside the video. (For what it’s worth, the track is listed as “Presha” on Genius, Official Charts, and DSPs.)

Not-so-coincidentally, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz are scheduled to perform on this Friday’s (October 20) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Wayne posted a promotional poster for their Tonight Show appearance to Discord and his Instagram Story.

ColleGrove 2 will be coming out before the year’s over with,” 2 Chainz told The Source in September. “We’ve already shot two visuals, the photo shoot is over. We’re in the process now of mastering records. All the records are mixed, so it’ll be coming soon. I’m so excited about it, and I’ve been talking about it so long. I’m anxious at this point, to try to get it to the fans’ ears. Hear some of the hard work, and the blood sweat and tears that me and my brother put into this project.”

2 Chainz’s ColleGrove arrived in March 2016, and Lil Wayne was featured on eight of its 13 tracks. The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and charted for 17 total weeks.

Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz’s ‘ColleGrove 2’ Collaborative Album Now Has A Release Date — Well, Sort Of

Last month, Lil Wayne dropped his latest album, Tha Fix Before Tha VI. But he’s not done. His long-awaited collaborative project, ColleGroove 2, with 2 Chainz, is still in the pipeline. However, one of the rappers might have revealed its release date.

According to Rock The Bells, on October 10, during a private filming organized by the platform, 2 Chainz said, “Me and Wayne’s album drops next month. This is a full circle moment.”

Last month, another major update was shared in Amazon Music Live’s season promotional video. As 2 Chainz sat down to discuss his forthcoming hosting responsibilities and the highly anticipated release. “We have two videos shot, photoshoot shot, [the] album’s mixed and getting mastered, so it’ll be coming sooner than later, and I’m really excited about it, he said. “It’s rapping at a high level — steel sharpens steel. And he’s one of the people that I enjoy working with the most.”

The joint venture was first teased in 2020. Unfortunately, allegedly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was shelved. In March 2023, the duo revised the idea. 2 Chainz recently jumped on Instagram Live to announce the news.

“Two, three, for years, now working on this project, and I’m finally getting to the finish line of this project with me and Wayne, that I’m so excited to bring to the marketplace. I’m still learning stuff. I’m still learning things in this business. And one thing that I have learned in this process is that no response is the response.”

2 Chainz Announces Lil Wayne Collab “ColleGrove 2” Drops Next Month

2 Chainz has revealed that ColleGrove 2, his collab album with Lil Wayne, will be dropping sometime in November. “Me and Wayne’s album drops next month. This is a full circle moment,” Chainz told RockTheBells. Furthermore, the rapper spoke on the driving force behind the project. “It was built on a relationship. Wayne at the time, was the hottest artist in the world. He could’ve charged me eight million, but he didn’t,” he explained. It’s unknown if the album will feature anyone beyond Chainz and Wayne. However, fans won’t have to wait too long to find out now.

The news came almost exactly a year after Chainz initially said the album would be coming at the end of 2022. However, that statement made at a concert at USF didn’t come to pass. Instead, fans have had to wait an entire extra year for the much-hyped release. The album has been teased since 2020 and will serve as a follow-up to their unofficial collab, 2016’s ColleGrove.

2 Chainz And Lil Wayne Going All Out For ColleGrove 2

While we still don’t know a whole lot about the album, the pair are very excited about it. Additionally, they have revealed that they have gone all-in on making it one of the albums of the year. “We have two videos shot, photoshoot shot, (the) album’s mixed and getting mastered, so it’ll be coming sooner than later, and I’m really excited about it. It’s rapping at a high level — steel sharpens steel. And he’s one of the people that I enjoy working with the most,” Chainz said back in September.

However, ColleGrove 2 is not 2 Chainz’s only ongoing project. The veteran rapper is also serving as the host of Amazon Music Live‘s second season. The popular concert series airs directly after Amazon’s Thursday Night Football broadcast. Season 2 opened with Ed Sheeran and Lil Durk, with the most recent episode being Metro Boomin. Peso Pluma and Latto will have shows in the next two weeks. Are you excited about ColleGrove 2? Let us know in the comments.

2 Chainz Says Lil Wayne Collab Album “COLLEGROVE 2” Is Coming Very Soon

For years now, we’ve been waiting for a sequel to 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne’s 2016 collaborative project, COLLEGROVE. There’s been a lot of teases, unfulfilled promises, label issues, and more getting in the way of its release so far. In fact, according to the Drench God’s initial statements, the album was supposed to come out in 2020, and we’ve gotten teased about it every year since. Moreover, we finally have our example of this in 2023 thanks to a recent interview with The Source. The College Park, Georgia native said that his team-up sequel with the Hollygrove, New Orleans MC is set to drop this year at the moment.

COLLEGROVE 2 will be coming out before the year’s over with,” 2 Chainz remarked. “We’ve already shot two visuals, the photo shoot is over. We’re in the process now of mastering records. All the records are mixed, so it’ll be coming soon. I’m so excited about it and I’ve been talking about it so long. I’m anxious at this point to try to get it to the fans’ ears. Hear some of the hard work, and the blood sweat and tears that me and my brother put into this project.”

What’s more is that, in comparison to other teases of COLLEGROVE 2, we have some evidence to back this up. For example, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne were recently spotted filming a music video with Usher. With this in mind, we can only imagine what other big features could appear on the project, although certainly none are necessary. The chemistry between these two MCs will likely be enough to keep the fire burning.

Meanwhile, it seems like they already went through other big final stages for this album, such as the tracklist. Prior to COLLEGROVE, this duo crafted many hits together, so there’s more to follow up than just one album. Hopefully this isn’t another unfulfilled promise and we can hear these rappers at the peak of their chemistry soon. For more news and the latest updates on Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, come back to HNHH.

Exclusive: 2 Chainz Gives Update On ‘ColleGrove 2’: ‘It’ll Be Out Before The Year’s Over’

Amazon Music Live – New Concert Series Hosted by 2 Chainz Starting October 27 Amazon Music 0 2 screenshot 1

When one of the most well-respected football players, Terrell Owens, was asked which artist he listens to in the gym to get him hyped, he only had one answer: 2 Chainz. Specifically, his timeless hit “I’m Different” was released ten years ago.

2 Chainz’ endless contributions to the rap game do not go unnoticed, boasting a never-ending catalog of hits that immediately bring you back to that exact time and place. Beyond the music, the Atlanta native is a true definition of a serial entrepreneur, with multiple businesses and brand deals that he hopes can inspire audiences worldwide.

Now, 2 Chainz is as excited as ever to return as the official host to Amazon Music Live, the weekly concert series in Los Angeles, streaming live immediately after Thursday Night Football. Following an all-star lineup of musicians last season — from Lil Wayne to 21 Savage to Lil Baby — this upcoming season boasts an equally powerful bill, kicking things off with Ed Sheeran on September 21st.

But the real question remains: when are we getting ColleGrove 2?! Fans have been waiting patiently for the long-awaited sequel to his first ColleGrove project in collaboration with Lil Wayne. And it looks like Usher will be a standout feature!

The Source had the opportunity to speak with 2 Chainz at the Amazon Music Studios in Los Angeles. Read below as we discuss the upcoming season of AML, his love for Hip-Hop, Top 5, opening for Beyonce, preparing for BMF, bringing his son to the ESPYs, and the fire Usher record on ColleGrove 2.

What are you most excited for this time with the second season of Amazon Music Live?

I’m excited about the new artists that we have performing this year. We got Ed Sheeran starting it off, that’s going to be fire. And from my understanding, he’s going to be doing a couple of new records and dropping a project in the next week or so. Having him, I have other peers. Durk will  be there the third week, he’s been on the road too. We have Feid coming. Having these different genres, but everyone is a megastar in their own specific ecosystem. It’ll be a good draw.

Obviously, you have me. My charming personality, debonair looks, witty, intelligent — all these adjectives that I can keep going on for literally hours to describe myself, will be hosting this event. Then you have Amazon Music being one of the biggest platforms out there that really get out, share information. It’s coming right after Thursday Night Football, which is one of the biggest highlights of the week. It’s going to be a good time. I don’t think anything less of that space. We gon’ have a good time. We’re going to educate some people that are just now starting to get on board with what’s going on, because we know that sports and music have a strong fusion. We’re going to display it on Amazon Music’s platform.

I went to a few shows last season, which were all epic. Did you have a favorite out of all of them?

Lil Wayne, for sure. He put a lot of energy. I told him, I said “man, you really…” Everybody has a different style and a way of really connecting with fans. Megan [The Stallion] did good. Anitta did good. Anuel AA did good. Everybody did what they’re supposed to do, as far as either connecting with their current fans or even gaining new fans.

Hip-Hop celebrates 50 years this year, what was the moment you fell in love with Hip-Hop?

Very young. Only child, being raised by a bunch of older cousins and guys in the streets. It’s always been the soundtrack and the landscape to my mom’s late-night car games. In a small apartment. I’ve been listening to Hip-Hop since sixth, seventh grade. Heard it, been hooked. Been trying to steal cousins’ CDs for years.

There’s not a specific moment I can think of. I can probably think of specific moments per artists that I really love. But for the most part, it’s a part of my DNA. My father was an album collector. I can remember seeing everything from Rick James to The Temptations to New Edition, all these different album covers. Michael Jackson, “Thriller.” I can see all this stuff right now. Music is really a part of my DNA.

Do you have a Top 5 Hip-Hop artists all-time?

This stuff always becomes clickbait. I don’t want to take away from everything that’s good. Top 5: obviously you have Pac and Biggie in there. You have Hov in there. You have a few other successful artists that are currently doing it. Hip-Hop is just too big to do a [Mount] Rushmore or anything like that. Because everybody brings something important and impactful to the game.

I’ll lead with Pac and Biggie because those were two leaders that we lost very young and unfortunate, one from each coast. You have some stuff under there. You got your Scarface, you got your Andre 3000. You got your Southern artists. You got your West Coast artists: your Ice Cube’s, E-40’s. You got your New York artists. Everybody from Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Nas. So it’s hard. You can even go down to Florida with Uncle Luke and Trick Daddy that’s old, even the new guys like Kodak. It’s hard to pick four or five people that do what they do.

How was it coming out with DJ Khaled at the Beyonce show?

It was good. That was my second time that Khaled reached out for a Beyonce opener. The last one was maybe 4, 5, 6, 7 years ago. But coming out there, I was able to do two or three songs. One of the songs was “Birthday Song.” I’m a Virgo, so is she. It was a great opportunity. Fans loved it. I loved it.

What’s special about Virgos?

We’re special, God took his time with us. Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Nas, me. Luda, Kobe. I could keep going. There’s a lot of us.

Travis Scott’s Rodeo recently celebrated eight years. “3500” with Future was a standout. What was the best memory from that record?

Being on a song with me, Travis, and Future all on one record. That was one of the biggest standouts. We need a current version of that.

How easy is it to hit them…?

Oh they’re both peers of mine. High respect for everyone involved.

What can we expect from your role in BMF?

My character’s name is Stacks. I’m looking forward to seeing it. It was a change for me. I studied for it, I took it very seriously. Shout out to Meech, both of them actually. But Lil Meech helped me get through some patches, really rehearsed with me and practiced before I got on. Shout out to his acting couch, who lent a hand too. I can’t wait, I can’t wait until it comes out.

How’d that happen? Did 50 reach out to you?

Mmhmm, yeah. Shout out to 50, cool guy. Very intelligent, intellectual. Understands his space, understands the business. That’s something that you never know. It might be something that I can venture off into, whether being behind the camera or in front of the camera. It feels like a space I want to be a part of.

So you took acting classes?

I did. I took some via Zoom, with Tasha. I took some a couple of times via zoom. Oh, I did one in person too. I did a couple, I have. I just thought about that. I don’t want to make a full out of myself, you know?

Favorite meal from Esco Restaurant and Tapas?

My favorite meal is the salmon pasta. My second favorite meal is Tity Boi turkey burger with fried okra and broccoli.

Did you see Terrell Owens plays “I’m Different” to get hyped?

Someone told me that earlier. I have great respect for T.O. He’s a super athlete to me. Always taking care of himself. I recently saw him at the ESPYs. For over 10 years, it’s been a mutual respect for each other.

How was it bringing your son to the ESPYs?

I was his plus one. [laughs] He got invited. Shout out to my son, he broke his arm yesterday. Falling off the 4-wheeler. We have a podcast that’s called Me & Halo. We talk about sports and father/son relationships in the black community. In every community. We touch on a lot of stuff dealing with school, family, friendship, traveling.

He got invited to the ESPYs and we did a live podcast as well. We had Tyrese Haliburton on there. It’s cool. He’s 7 years old, going on 8. It’s cool to be around him, have a best friend. A spitting image of yourself. It was cool. It’s really just me and him. No mom, no sisters. I felt responsible.

Is he nervous at only 7, interviewing these legends?

No, that’s the thing. He might seriously be built for this. Because I didn’t tell him about the live podcast until we got there. He’s like, “You mean people in the crowd?” I’m like yeah, then he opens up his shirt some more. Comes out with his chest out. You can’t teach that.

When are we getting ColleGrove 2?

ColleGrove 2 will be coming out before the year’s over with. We’ve already shot two visuals, the photo shoot is over. We’re in the process now of mastering records. All the records are mixed, so it’ll be coming soon. I’m so excited about it and I’ve been talking about it so long. I’m anxious at this point, to try to get it to the fans’ ears. Hear some of the hard work, and the blood sweat and tears that me and my brother put into this project.

How fire is that Usher record?

Record is ready to go, it has legs on it. Soon as it hits the ground, it’s gonna start running.

Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz Link Up With Usher, Sparking “ColleGrove 2” Hype

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz met up with Usher to work on a new collaboration, fueling excitement for their long-awaited ColleGrove 2 project. In a clip circulating on social media with the album’s title as its caption, the three can be seen shooting what appears to be a music video.

In a mostly vacant studio space, the three make subtle gestures while engulfed in a blue hue. They’ve been teasing a sequel to their original 2016 effort for years at this point. Back in 2022, 2 Chainz confirmed they’ve been revving up on studio time together.

“We were in the studio together,” he told DJ Akademiks. “I think the last time we were in the studio together maybe twice. This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project. Whether going back in after we’ve done something or whatever.” He added: “I feel super excited about this fucking project because it don’t sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And doing something like that with Wayne, it’s welcoming, it’s warming and it’s going to be accepted.” Usher likely won’t be the only high-profile artist to appear on the project. Earlier this year, DJ Toomp confirmed he has a “wicked” collaboration with Wayne, Chainz, and Benny The Butcher on ColleGrove 2. “It’s a nice R&B sample, man, that I just put some cr*zy drums to and some extra pianos and shit. Yeah, it’s hard, it’s hard,” he told radio host B High ATL. Check out the video of Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz working on a video with Usher below.

Wayne and 2 Chainz released the first ColleGrove back in 2016. The album derives its title from a portmanteau of College Park, Georgia and Hollygrove, New Orleans. Due to label issues, the project was credited only as a 2 Chainz album with Wayne being a featured artist throughout.

When Is 2 Chainz And Lil Wayne’s New Album Coming Out?

2 Chainz and Lil Wayne have been teasing a collaborative new album together. Their first project, 2016’s ColleGrove mixtape, saw the two rappers blending the title from Georgia’s College Park (Chainz) and New Orleans’ Hollygrove (Wayne).

In a new video, 2 Chainz offered some more insight into what fans can expect from the forthcoming ColleGrove 2.

“Two, three, for years now working on this project, and I’m finally getting to the finish line of this project with me and Wayne that I’m so excited to bring to the marketplace,” he said. “I’m still learning stuff. I’m still learning things in this business. And one thing that I have learned in this process is that no response is the response.”

The follow-up project was initially intended to drop last year, but now an exact release date is unclear. As Chainz previously shared with DJ Akademiks, the duo has done quite a lot of work on it already.

“We were in the studio together,” he shared around January of last year. “This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project. Whether going back in after we’ve done something or whatever. This one is definitely coming out this year. We’re actually in the process of mixing it. Wayne’s on every single song.”

Here’s hoping there’s an official release date for it soon.
