Chlöe And Jeremih’s Twerk-Filled Video For ‘Shake’ Shows Off The NSFW Side Of Carnival

Uproxx cover star Chlöe is a sucker for a good contemporary R&B ballad. But the “Boy Bye” singer has proven to be a mastermind when it comes to electronic fusion.

Her latest album, Trouble In Paradise, showcases Chlöe’s balance of the worlds. On her latest single, “Shake” featuring Jeremih, blends her R&B likeness and love of EDM. The official video is just as fun.

In the twerk-filled visual directed by Boma Iluma, Chlöe shows off the NSFW side of carnival. Back in July, Chlöe posted her glorious ‘Queen Of Hearts’ costume, which broke the internet. Now, it has been the centerpiece of the visual.

As Chlöe makes her way around the celebration, there is a sea of people enjoying one another’s company (whining waists, clapping cheeks, and all).

Over on Instagram, Chlöe spoke about the inspiration for the video. “I wanted to drop something special for you guys in honor of ‘Trouble in Paradise’ being out for a month,” she wrote. “Enjoy this video to ‘Shake.’ Watch the full thing on my YouTube channel. I want those booties bouncing and shaking.”

Chlöe’s Questioning ‘Want Me’ Is The Long-Awaited Reunion With Her Sister Halle

There’s Trouble In Paradise, but Chloe X Halle fans are probably more than happy to hear it, as the new album from Chlöe, the older half of the sister act, finally reunites with her younger sibling Halle on the standout track, “Want Me.” A wistful track that finds the duo pondering one of life’s most relatable phenomena (“why is it the ones we don’t want that want us?”) over a downtempo beat composed of a simple guitar loop complimented by finger snaps.

“Want Me” represents the first time the sisters have released a record together since 2020, when they released their breakout sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, which launched them into the upper echelons of stardom. Since then, they’ve both embarked on successful, but disparate solo careers, with Chlöe delving into more grown-up material with her debut solo single, “Have Mercy,” in 2021, and eventually releasing her first solo album, In Pieces, last year.

Halle, meanwhile, took a seemingly more wholesome route after securing the lead role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid remake, then landing a vital role in the musical Color Purple film. Halle kicked off 2024 with the announcement of the birth of her baby Halo, and while she’s released a solo track of her own, she also decided to take a break from being in the public eye to regroup after admitting to having “severe” postpartum depression.

You can listen to “Want Me” above.

Chloe Bailey Perplexed On What “Flopping” Means After Internet’s Claims That Her Album Will Fail

Chloe Bailey is now just two days away from giving her fanbase her long-awaited sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise. It’s turning out to be a stacked weekend for hip-hop/R&B releases, as artists like Logic, Latto, Larry June, Ravyn Lenae will be her competition. Big Sean was supposed to be dropping as well, however, his LP, Better Me Than You, has just received a multiple week delay. Chloe Bailey has two tracks from it out right now, with those including “FYS” (F*** Your Status) and “Boy Bye”. It figures to be one of the more checked-out projects on Friday and the days after, however, some people don’t feel the same way.

One person tweeted out, “It’s finna flop bc she did this so randomly”. This user feels that because of its very minimal to non-existent rollout, the numbers might not be there. However, Chloe maintained high levels of maturity while interacting with the commenter. “Oh well. Good music is good music and I hope you enjoy”. But after digesting this message further, Chloe is now asking the masses what “flopping” actually means. “Honestly what is flopping?”, she begins.

“What even is that? Because I don’t really understand that concept anymore. I’m alive, I’m breathing, I’m making money… I’m making great music that I love… What really is flopping?”, she leaves off with before grabbing her food delivery. She certainly makes some great philosophical points and fans are in agreement with her. “She said, “I’m successful and rich. How am I a flop?” 😂”. “Music is forever, some records that came out 10 years ago can catch wings today and soar to platinum status. Just put it out what flops today, may Pop tomorrow!!!!”. Personally, we cannot wait for what Chloe has in store, so be sure to check out Trouble in Paradise this Friday!

Jon B Says Gunna and Chlöe Bailey’s “you & me” is ‘Ratchet’ and He ‘Couldn’t Stand’ Being Sampled for the Song

Jon B. Teases Ninth Studio Album with Release of "Waiting on You" Single Featuring Tank

Jon B is not feeling his classic “They Don’t Know” being used as a sample for “you & me” from Gunna and Chlöe Bailey. Speaking on the Can we Talk R&B? podcast, Jon B revealed that he did not approve the sample and he “couldn’t stand” the finished product.

“They put that ratchet record out that I couldn’t stand, and I wish they never did,” Jon B said. “Actually never got my rights to do that record, either, so, Gunna, we gotta holler about that… That’s some business shit we got to handle.”

You can hear it from Jon and the single below.

Jon B Absolutely Hates The Gunna And Chloe Song That Samples Him

Jon B is not an S-tier R&B singer, but he’s got classic songs. So many classics, in fact, that he’s become a popular source for samples. A little Jon B goes a long way in giving a song a retro, 90s feel. Gunna and Chloe Bailey were going for this precise feel on their 2022 collab, “You & Me.” Unfortunately, they didn’t clear the sample of Jon B’s “They Don’t Know” that plays throughout the song. Jon B was not pleased when he found out, and he let it be known how much he hated the new song during a recent interview with Can We Talk RNB.

The R&B singer went on the podcast shortly after the Gunna and Chloe Bailey single dropped. He did not mince words when asked what he thought of the sample. Jon B said he “couldn’t stand” what the artists had done to his original composition. He dubbed their version of “They Don’t Know” as “ratchet,” and he lamented that “You & Me” ever saw the light of day. “My lane is my lane… I earned that,” Jon B explained. “Just like, if you made a hit, in your area… I’m not just gonna come into your area and take your joint and make it mine. And then not pay you.” Damn, tell us how you really feel, Jon.

Jon B Urged Gunna To Reach Out To Him

The criticisms didn’t stop there. The singer accused Gunna of failing to clear the sample, which could result in legal action. “They never got my rights to do the record,” he asserted.” Jon B is obviously not a fan of the Gunna and Chloe Bailey collab. That said, he understands that music is subjective. He told Can We Talk RNB he was more bothered by the lack professionalism with regards to clearances. “Gunna we got to holler about that,” he stated. “That’s some business sh*t we got to handle.”

Jon also had some strong words for his blue-eyed successor, Justin Timberlake. During the podcast appearance, the singer laid into Timberlake’s latest single, “No Angels.” He was somehow even more brutal with JT than Gunna or Chloe Bailey. “That new single is trash,” he plainly stated. “I’m not feeling his music at all anymore. And the video is even more trash.” One of the few people Jon B has has nice words for, ironically, is everybody’s enemy in 2024: Drake. The 6 God sampled Jon B on his 2011 opus Take Care, and the latter gave love in return. “One of the most humble ppl I’ve met in the industry,” he wrote on Facebook in 2012. “It’s nice to know the respect is mutual. Big up Drake.”

Chloe Bailey Claps Back At Fan Who Claims Her New Album Will Flop

Chloe Bailey has had a busy week and it’s only Monday. The singer was blasted by Jon B. for sampling one of his classic 90s songs. Then, she was widely criticized by fans she announced that her new album would be dropping on Friday, August 9. The concern, at least as far as most vocal fans were concerned, was that Bailey will not have enough time to promote the album. Trouble In Paradise still felt like it was in the early promo stages for many. Well, Chloe Bailey took notice of the concerns, and even responded to one fan who asserted that the album is going to be a flop.

The interaction is less negative than it sounds. While most flop predictions stem from a dislike of the artist, there was genuine concern on Chloe Bailey’s part. Fans want to see here succeed. The user in question wrote: “It’s finna flop bc she did this so randomly.” Again, not the most vitriolic thing one can find on Twitter. Chloe Bailey responded accordingly. She quote tweeted the concerned message and claimed that she was okay with possibly flopping. Instead of attacking her fan, she conceded that an unsuccessful album, commercially speaking, could happen. “Oh well,” she wrote. “Good music is good music and I hope you enjoy.”

Chloe Bailey Is More Concerned With Quality Than Sales

It’s a clap back in the technical sense, but it’s also a pretty mature one. Chloe Bailey has made it clear that she’s less concerned with topping sales charts than in making substantial music. She said as much during a recent interview with Nylon. She praised the likes of Beyonce and Whitney Houston for bucking trends and challenging their listeners. The singer wants to challenge preconceived notions of pop music like they did. ” I was really proud of Beyonce doing Cowboy Carter,” she told the outlet. “Because Black people originated country music. It’s just showing that possibilities are endless.”

Trouble In Paradise will be forward-thinking in many ways, but it will also feature a reunion. Chloe Bailey is set to collaborate with her sister, Halle, on the song “Want Me.” Bailey reflected on the writing process of the song during the Nylon profile. “I immediately wrote it down in my notes, and the song wrote itself in, like, five minutes,” she revealed. “It’s weird, because it’s almost like I wrote the song for two without knowing it.” Hopefully the album does better than some fans are anticipating.

Also, the songwriter’s Instagram feed served as a hint as to her creative direction this go around. While her risqué vacation flicks received all the attention, clips of her hard at work let the public into her next musical era beyond her solo debut, In Pieces.
