Megan Thee Stallion & “HISS” Fail To Crack Billboard Top 10 A Week After Going Number One

Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” is one of the biggest hits of 2024 so far… but there’s only one problem with its chart longevity. It has a lot of subliminal disses and created a moment, but since much of the hype surrounding it is about these feuds, the beefs dying down in the headlines means that the song doesn’t have the same replay value. At least, that’s what Billboard reflects, as the track fell out of the Top 10 this week. Now, it’s populated by the mainstays as of late: Zach Bryan, SZA, Jack Harlow, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Luke Combs, Doja Cat, and more.

Of course, a lot of the conversation around “HISS” surrounded the true ignition of beef between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. The latter absolutely popped off on Twitter when this record dropped, going on a social media rampage for three days before dropping her response, “Big Foot.” No matter which side you’re on in this debacle, you can’t deny that either release had a lot of potential to stay on the charts for long. There’s nothing wrong with making a moment out of a song; it just means that you won’t have the same effect as you would with a song catered to be a re-playable and long-lasting effort.

Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” Falls Out Of Billboard‘s Top 10

But the question still remains: did Megan Thee Stallion (or Nicki Minaj, for that matter) need to stay on the charts for the song to make its impact? The Houston MC still hasn’t responded to “Big Foot,” which is likely because of all the success she found with “HISS.” Although some folks like The Joe Budden Podcast doubt that it was an organic No. 1 smash, her fans think that she took the dub here. Barbz think otherwise, obviously, so maybe one more round is what could really settle this.

That aside, a lot of people are still talking about this beef and these disses, including femcee Saweetie, who had a great and nuanced take about female rap beef. As such, Billboard doesn’t mean a thing; “HISS” stamped itself into the history books and into public consciousness. But it means little if what follows it, such as an album, doesn’t result in a compelling, well-crafted, and intent-driven experience. On that note, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Megan Thee Stallion.

Ice Spice Lands Highest Charting Single With “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)”

Ice Spice’s latest single, “Think U The Sh*t (Fart),” has become her highest-charting song as a solo artist. The track reached No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the outlet’s latest update. Spice dropped off the viral track, last month, featuring the now-infamous bar, “Think you the sh*t, b*tch? You not even the fart.”

While it’s now her most successful solo venture, her biggest song overall remains “Karma,” featuring Taylor Swift. That song climbed as high as No. 2. Her “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” collaboration with PinkPantheress also reached No. 3 while “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj cracked the top 10 as well.

Despite the new song’s popularity, not everyone is a fan. Conservative media pundit Candace Owens recently spent a segment of her show complaining about its existence. “If you’re wondering whether or not it’s a good song, what do you think? It’s called ‘Think U The S**t (Fart),’” Owens said before playing a clip from the song. “Now I think we can all admit that we’ve fallen as a society. I mean, I wouldn’t say that was Mozart or Beethoven, but I’m not all of these mainstream media publications that routinely run to defend this kind of music similar to what they did with ‘WAP’ the most disgusting and filthiest lyrics I’ve ever read. They will then sit down and write an article trying to convince you that what you just heard was magical and they did this with this Ice Spice song.”

Drake Spends His 500th Week On The Artist 100 Chart

Almost a decade ago Billboard introduced a new chart meant to track an artist’s success across all charts and metrics in a given week. That was called the Artist 100 and it can be loosely interpreted as the most popular artist in a given week. Unsurprisingly, the most commercially dominant artist of the last decade has achieved things on the chart nobody else can manage. Drake’s newest achievement is yet another sign of not just the volume of his commercial dominance, but the longevity.

Drake has officially spent a full 500 weeks on the Artist 100 chart, becoming the first artist to do so. He also achieved the feat as quickly as possible as this week’s Artist 100 is the 500th edition of the chart. Drizzy is the only artist who has appeared on every single Artist 100 throughout its entire existence. Only Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Bruno Mars are within 25 weeks of Drake’s record-setting tenure. He turns up at number 4 on this week’s chart, meaning he likely isn’t fading from the Artist 100 any time soon. Check out the full scope of his achievement below.

Drake’s Record Extending Artist 100 Tenure

Many think that Drake is included among those that Megan Thee Stallion took shots at on “HISS.” That would make sense as he dropped an offensive bar about her Tory Lanez shooting incident on last year’s Her Loss. Despite the buzz of a dizz, Drizzy has been silent on the matter on social media.

He’s had plenty of public opportunities to comment as he’s popped up all over the place recently. He and Adonis were courtside for a Knicks/Heat game over the weekend. Shortly afterward he was out partying in New York with Cash Cobain and Fivio Foreign. That was just a few days after he was hanging out with Lil Yachty and hitting some different New York City clubs. What do you think of Drake appearing on every single Artist 100 chart for almost a full decade? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Nas X’s New Single Scores Middling Hot 100 Debut

For an artist of Lil Nas X’s caliber songs are expected to be massive hits right away. That wasn’t the case with his new single “J CHRIST.” The song just hit the Hot 100 this week but was far lower down the chart than many expected. The same week that Ariana Grande debuted her new song “yes, and?” at the very top spot, “J CHRIST” just landed at number 69. Some of the rapper’s previous hits like “THAT’S WHAT I WANT” started off slow before becoming smash successes. But for the long-awaited lead single for his second album, many fans are underwhelmed.

Another element hampering the debut of “J CHRIST” is the new 21 Savage album american dream. The project debuted 14 of its 15 songs on the Hot 100, 13 of which placed above “J CHRIST” on the charts. Two of those songs “redrum” and “nee-nah” landed inside the top 10. Two additional songs “all of me” and “n.h.i.e” place in the top 20. “J CHRIST” has racked up more than 11 million streams on Spotify and its music video has over 12 million views, so the song is clearly getting some attention. It remains to be seen whether the song will fade from the Hot 100 quickly or become a sleeper hit over time.

21 Savage Scores Two Top 10 Hits On The Hot 100

21 Savage’s new album american dream arrived amid strange circumstances. It had no pre-release singles and was attached to a 21 biopic that left many fans more confused than excited. Despite that, the album performed quite well. american dream churned out 133k copies in its first week numbers that only a handful of rap albums released in 2023 managed to achieve. The Billboard 200 went through almost half of 2023 without a rap album topping the chart until Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape did it. With his new album, Savage assured there wouldn’t be such a streak this year. american dream debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200.

His new album isn’t the only one to debut high though. Kali Uchis also released her new album ORQUEDIAS to commercial and critical success. The album reached Kali’s highest point ever on the Billboard 200. It debuted at number 2 after pushing 69k, her highest-ever tracking sales week. The other high-profile rap album released earlier this month was Kid Cudi’s INSANO. Despite hype behind the project and some massive features, it couldn’t score a top-10 debut. The album turned up right outside of the top 10 placing at number 13 in its first week.

Sexyy Red Shares More Maternity Pics, Slams Folks Trying To Find Baby Daddy

Sexyy Red just shared some more maternity pics from her shoot with her baby daddy, who people are scrambling to identify online. While we doubt that we will get an answer to that question anytime soon, we at least have these new snaps showing her one step closer to a new baby. Moreover, the rapper dons a kimono-like dress and eschews her iconic red locks for a jet black-haired look, holding up a fan of cash to cool her down. Overall, it’s been very wholesome to see this phase in her life; she may not be a new mother, but having a child under such a massive celebrity spotlight must feel like something entirely different.

Furthermore, Sexyy Red also recently clapped back at people trying to figure out who her baby daddy is. “Y’all wanna play detective on my good life so bad,” she remarked on her Instagram page. “Like, can y’all worry about them unpaid bills y’all got? That stinky c**chie y’all got, that dirty a** house I know y’all got, ’cause y’all need to go clean up. Go wash your a**, do something productive instead of worrying about me, okay? I don’t understand, like, y’all… it’s just cr*zy. I just wanna know, why y’all wanna know who I’m crackin’ so bad? Why, so y’all can go crack them after me? Is that what’s going on? ‘Cause why y’all wanna know what I got goin’ on? Don’t worry about it. I told y’all. It’s Chief Keef. I don’t wanna hear about it no more. I told y’all, it is what it is.”

Elsewhere, the St. Louis native also commented to Billboard about people assuming all her lyrics are the same. “I just rap about my daily life,” Sexyy Red remarked. “Like, girls that live like me, I just rap about what we up to. And I don’t sit here talking about “c**chie” all day. I don’t understand how that’s the first thing that catch on from everything I done said. I think they hear what they wanna hear. ‘Cause they just start comparing me to all kind of people and say, ‘That’s all she talk about.’ But I be like, ‘So, you didn’t hear me say this?’ Like, why is that the only thing you got from that message? I don’t understand.”

Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” Jumps Back To Number 1 On The Hot 100

After a month of many of the biggest hits being slid down the Hot 100 by Christmas music, it’s finally beginning to fade. As Christmas songs fall off the chart this week numerous songs are taking massive leaps back up the charts. Jack Harlow’s “Lovin’ On Me” was the last non-Christmas song to top the charts in early December. The song managed to stick around in the Top 10 every single week despite the influx of holiday tunes and this week it returned to the very top spot.

Elsewhere near the top of the charts are similar songs making big leaps. Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” and Tate McRae’s “greedy” jumped 17 and 21 spots respectively to get back into the top 3. Doja Cat lands two songs in the top 10 with “Paint The Town Red” at number 4 and “Agora Hills” at number 10. Both songs jumped up 26 spots on the chart to hit their current spot. Breakthrough R&B star Tyla also scored a new peak for her song “Water” which turns up at number 7. Check out the full top 10 of the Hot 100 below.

Michael Jackson’s Name Appears In Jeffrey Epstein Documents, Though No Accusations Are Made

One of the biggest stories of the year so far is the revealing of hundreds of pages of documents related to the trial of Jeffrey Epstein. The documents spawn from a 2015 lawsuit filed against the alleged sex trafficker’s girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell was eventually convicted for her role in the sex trafficking scheme. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2021. For months now, momentum to release the entire documents has been building. Fans online who have been following the story for years are hoping to uncover all of the names associated with Epstein’s reported scheme.

The crown jewel of the released documents is Epstein’s flight logs. Fans hoped that the logs would reveal all of the famous or influential people who spent time on Epstein’s island. It’s the place where the alleged sex trafficker reportedly brought underage girls. While the eventual release of information wasn’t full of bombshells in the same way some were hoping, big names popped up elsewhere in the documents. One of which is very surprising, the late king of pop Michael Jackson. Jackson’s inclusion in the documents is evocative given that he had to overcome accusations of child molestation in 2005. According to Billboard, however, his inclusion in the documents doesn’t come with any new allegations.

Michael Jackson Named In Epstein Documents

Jackson’s name comes up in court documents during testimony from one of Epstein’s accusers. A lawyer askes the female witness if she had ever personally encountered any celebrities while with Epstein. “I met Michael Jackson. At his house in Palm Beach. At Jeffrey’s house in Palm Beach,” she replies. When the lawyer follows up asking if she gave Jackson a massage, as many of the celebrity clients in the trial had received, she declined.

In the lead-up to the documents being released a strange beef arose. That came when New York Jets QB Aaron Rogers specifically cited Jimmy Kimmel as somebody who should be worried about the documents, seemingly without any evidence. What do you think of Michael Jackson’s name appearing in the newly released Epstein documents? Let us know in the comment section below.

Cardi B Shares PSA After Fans Surprise Her With Billboard Despite Outbursts

Cardi B’s relationship with her fans has been rocky as of late, to say the least. After being spotted spending time with the father of her kids Offset last week, for example, some social media users speculated that they had gotten back together after their split earlier this month. This prompted a heated response from the “Bodak Yellow” performer, who didn’t take kindly to the rumors.

She hopped on Twitter Spaces to unleash on those speculating, calling them out for spreading rumors when she hadn’t confirmed anything. “Did I confirm anything?” she screamed. “Shut the f*ck up. I don’t see nobody talking sh*t but my own f*cking fanbase.” She later blamed supporters for the outburst, reprimanding them for trying to “fake teach [her] lessons.” Luckily, however, they’ve yet to turn their backs on the NYC native, even recently surprising her with a billboard in Times Square.

Cardi B’s PSA

She took to Twitter to share the news, boasting how fans have her back regardless of her aforementioned comments. In a new clip, she expresses excitement over the billboard, and pokes fun at those who thought her supporters would hold her outbursts against her. According to the femcee, those who aren’t part of her fanbase should simply “mind [their] f*cking business.”

“So I cursed out my fans really bad the other day, and today they put me on a Billboard on 42nd St. in Times Square,” she begins. “I don’t know if it’s Stockholm syndrome or we just have a very toxic relationship. Either way so it just goes to show you that if you not Bardi gang you should mind your f*cking business. Awe, you thought they were going to leave me? Awe. We ain’t going nowhere, b*tch! We ain’t going nowhere, and neither will I. I love you, bye.” What do you think of Cardi B’s recent PSA? What about her fans surprising her with a billboard?
