Several videos from different angles have surfaced on the Internet showing PR singing sensation Bad Bunny throwing a overzealous fan’s phone into the water. Bunny has doubled down on his actions, letting it be known that no one can take pics or record him without asking first.
The video shows the “Un Verano Sin Ti” artist in the Dominican Republic walking in a group when a female fan began recording him, but the video didn’t last long, when Bunny took the phone from the unsuspecting fan and tossed it in the nearby lake.
BB took to social media to address the interaction, saying that he doesn’t mind taking pics with genuine fans, but people seeking to record him for social media clout will be dealt with the same way.
Bad Bunny is one of the biggest stars in the world. The Un Verano Sin Ti star recently made headlines after video surfaced of him angrily tossing a fan’s phone in the water nearby.
The unidentified Dan attempted to get a selfie with the 28-year old mega star. But Bunny was not happy about the fan getting super close. He took to Twitter to release a statement regarding the incident. “The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect.”
The Grammy Award winning star continued on, explains why he decided to toss the fan’s cell phone. “Those who come to put a f–king phone in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise.”
Many fans of the star are still outraged by the incident. However, Bad Bunny’s statement regarding phone gate has the Internet divided. “Bad Bunny is in his Justin Bieber era,” one fan tweeted.
“Anyone justifying Bad Bunny throwing someone’s phone, their property that they paid with their money, into the water because “personal space” can kindly f*** off,” another added. “I’m so tired of these celebrities, man.” The outrage comes on the heels of the Puerto Rican star giving fans a free, impromptu concert on top of a gas station in San Juan, PR.
Bad Bunny’s foundation also gave out toys to kids during the surprise show. As for the next chapter in his career, the chart topping mega star announced that he’d be taking a break a music after wrapping his first stadium tour last year.
“2023 is for me,” he told Billboard. “For my physical health, my emotional health to breathe, enjoy my achievements. We’re going to celebrate. Let’s go here, let’s go there, let’s go on the boat. I have a couple of sporadic commitments, and I’ll go to the studio, but there’s no pressure.”

Promising or controversial, Hip-Hop was not short of headlines in 2022. The world’s most popular genre once again reigned supreme on Billboard and streaming charts while holding down its faithful community’s hearts. While everyone’s contributions are notable, a few artists dominate the current landscape. Headlined by Bad Bunny, below are The SOURCE’s five Top 5 Hip-Hop Artists of 2022.
Bad Bunny
If there is a record meant to be broken, Bad Bunny did it. The Latin Hip-Hop superstar’s Un Verano Sin Ti album sat at the top of the Billboard 200 for 11 non-consecutive weeks. Bad Bunny has the most week at No. 1 in nearly six years, matching Drake’s Views effort of 2016. Bad Bunny was named the year’s Artist of the Year on Apple Music. Un Verano Sin Ti, Bad Bunny’s sixth project in four years and one of the most streamed albums on Apple Music in 2022. More than 18.5 billion plays of Bad Bunny music have been created on Spotify this year, and his album “Un Verano Sin Ti” was the No. 1 most streamed album globally. In 2022, Bad Bunny’s concerts grossed $393.3 million globally, and his North American tour grossed $356.5 million this year.
Drake
Drake’s run at the top of Hip-Hop continues to be one of the most impressive we have ever seen. Since his 2009 debut with So Far Gone, Drake has been at or near the top of the game. 2022 was not different for The Boy as he followed up his Certified Lover Boy album with two more, completing a trilogy. First was the dance-infused summer soundtrack, Honestly, Nevermind. If that left a void in the mouths of certain rap fans, he doubled back with Her Loss, a collaborative batch of banners crafted alongside 21 Savage. In addition, Drake made high-profile guest appearances on album’s from DJ Khaled, Future, Jack Harlow, and more. Speaking of the Her Loss album, Drake and 21 Savage had the biggest Hip-Hop first-week debut of the year and made a global No. 1 debut with the “Rich Flex” single. Drake also topped the Beatles for most Top 5 singles in history and is the only rapper with more than 19. Not to mention hitting the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 twice. It’s Drake’s world; we live in it.
Kendrick Lamar
2022 marked the return of Kendrick Lamar, a.k.a. Mr. Morale. Exploding back on the scene with an instant classic in “The Heart Pt. 5,” Kendrick Lamar put the game on notice before any parts of the complete Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album were played. Follow that with the four-part album of well-crafted music, and what do you get? Album of the year nominations at the Grammys. The album took over the No. 1 spot on the charts, powered by a whopping 300 million-plus on-demand streams. Lamar followed that up with a tour of the same name, which he recently told The New York Times was an aim for “Hood Beethoven.” Mission accomplished.
NBA Youngboy
Love him or hate him, NBA Youngboy is one of the most prolific rappers on the planet. The Louisiana rapper shook off any legal issues to ink a new deal with Motown and flooded his fans with tons of new music, including the recently released Lost Files. The only person who could keep a new Youngboy album off the top of the charts was Bad Bunny. For 2023, Youngboy is eyeing a tour across America.
Future
Already a Rap Icon, Future cemented his status with a stellar 2022. Future ends 2022 with a flurry of RIAA certifications, capping up the best year of his career. I NEVER LIKED YOU, his chart-topping album, becomes one of only four albums to earn platinum status in 2022. “WAIT FOR U,” featuring Drake and Tems, gained triple-platinum status and was named the RIAA’s Top Certified Single of 2022. “PUFFIN ON ZOOTIEZ,” another hit, achieves platinum status. In August, Hip-Hop’s favorite Toxic King notched his 150th career Billboard Hot 100 entry. Future is also the fifth Artist in history to debut at #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard 200, with I NEVER LIKED YOU topping the 200 and “WAIT FOR U” topping the Hot 100.
Bad Bunny is giving back to his local community. On Tuesday (December 27), the Latin superstar hosted the Bonita Tradición event to give away over 25,000 gifts to kids in Puerto Rico.
Through his non-profit organization, the Good Bunny Foundation, Bad Bunny launched the Bonita Tradición, or “Beautiful Tradition,” gift drive. The event took place at the iconic El Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he has performed multiple sold-out concerts. The gifts that were given out to children included instruments, sports equipment, and art supplies.
“We want to close the year in the best way, bringing a bit of joy, hope, and love to the children with an event that reflects the best of this time with a very special emphasis on the traditions of our island,” said José “Che Juan” Torres, director of the Good Bunny Foundation, in a press release.
Bad Bunny showed up to the event to handout gifts with the volunteers and take pictures with the children. Puerto Rican food and drinks were available as well as live music and entertainment for the guests. Professional boxer Xander Zayas and up-and-coming Puerto Rican singer Jotaerre also showed up that the event.
Later that day, Bad Bunny returned to his hometown of Vega Baja with Dominican-American rapper Arcángel. The duo were spotted recording the music video for their collaboration “La Jumpa” from Arcángel’s Sr. Santos album. Last week, Bad Bunny teamed up with Ñengo Flow for their song “Gato De Noche.”
Bad Bunny played a free concert last night on the rooftop of a gas station in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The show was seemingly unplanned, as crowds in the videos taken gathered around in the street. He even had the makeshift stage decked out in lights, giving it the energy of a real concert.

The videos of Bunny’s performance have since gone viral online, and fans appear to love the Puerto Rican singer even more. “When you make half a billi on concerts for the year but still take time to do this>>>,” one fan wrote.
“this man is amazing, he REALLY loves his fans,” another pointed out.
Bunny’s show comes weeks after a President of another country wanted him to play a free show. Mexico’s Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked the singer to return to Mexico City for a performance following the fake ticket scams that fans faced at his sold-out concert on December 9.
“I would tell him how deeply we were touched to see young people sad because they couldn’t get in, because they had duplicated tickets, because they were victims of fraud,” López Obrador said. He also noted that the country would pay for the costs of lighting, sound, and a zipline in the plaza.
According to NPR, Bunny’s reps didn’t respond to the President’s comments.

everyday i find more reasons as to why i should be back on my island full-time.
One thing about Bad Bunny: he’ll always give back to his people and advocate for them. It’s something I respect about him as he’s risen. https://t.co/y9b5iAEAyt
Ticketmaster is not having the most pleasant run this holiday season. While they’ve very publically endured the wrath of the Swifties, who have filed two lawsuits since the disastrous pre-sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, several other fanbases have jumped on the “Ticketmaster is cancelled” train.
Earlier this month, Bad Bunny fans in Mexico were distraught to find that Ticketmaster had allegedly sold them fake tickets through their official sales outlets, resulting in them being turned away at the entry point.
The sales for Death Grips’ upcoming tour, their first in four years, were also handled by Ticketmaster. But like the presale for Swift’s upcoming tour, several fans alleged that many of the Death Grips presale tickets went to bots and resalers.
Tickets for Bruce Springsteen And The E-Street Band’s were going for over $5,000 in some cities. While Springsteen defended the prices, he promised fans who weren’t satisfied on the way out of the tour that they could have their money back.
Some of the issues fans have been having with Ticketmaster date back to last year, when Olivia Rodrigo fans were unable to purchase tickets for her Sour tour due to technical difficulties.
But these recurring issues have fans nervous going forward. Recently, tickets for SZA’s SOS tour with Omar Apollo proved to be rather pricey. And although Beyoncé has yet to formally announce her Renaissance tour, the prices for SZA tickets prompted fans to start saving, so they can be ready for when Bey finally does make the announcement.
As a late Christmas gift, country singer Zach Bryan decided to give the gift of live music to his fans, so they wouldn’t have to pay Ticketmaster prices. The album is appropriately titled, All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster.
Some of the artists mentioned are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Bad Bunny is a man of his word. Earlier this week, the international superstar hinted at new music coming soon. This weekend, he delivered, sharing his “Gato de Noche” single in collaboration with Ñengo Flow.
“This is to close the year,” the Latin rapper wrote on TikTok hours before sharing his surprise.
As Billboard notes, the catchy song’s lyrics are all about a “chico malo,” or bad boy, who’s vying for the attention of a lady that’s already spoken for.
“He loves you and gives you everything / But you’re the devil and you’re crazy for me,” a translation of Bunny’s bars reads. “You like the bad boys and are playing fire with me […] although you’re a sin, I’m going to hell following that big ass.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ñengo and the YHLQMDLG artist connect. Previously they came together on “Que Malo” and “Safaera,” the latter of which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. Both titles appear on Bad Bunny’s most recent album.
Less than a month ago, the Puerto Rican rapper also made waves with “La Jumpa.” The song premiered on November 30th and finds him working with Arcángel.
Stream Ñengo Flow and Bad Bunny’s “Gato de Noche” on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, let us know what your favourite lyrics from the new single are in the comments.
Quotable Lyrics:
Hoy yo voy a buscarte después de las doce Ya te quiero comer y repetir toa’ las pose’ Hay que disimular y hacer que no me conoce’ Pasa el día con él, yo soy tu gato de noche
The song is told from the perspective of a self-proclaimed “bad boy” who is attempting to pursue a woman already in a relationship.
“He loves you and gives you everything / But you’re the devil and you’re crazy for me / You like the bad boys and are playing fire with me,” Bunny sings, according to Billboard’s translation. “Although you’re a sin, I’m going to hell following that big ass / I’m on my way / Today I’m picking you up after midnight.”
In addition, they also dropped a music video that opens with Ñengo as Santa Claus, who instead of waiting to meet children, is greeted by a ton of hot women. From there, he joins Bunny as they drive around and party with the same girls — just not as Santa.
The duo previously worked together on the 2020 songs “Que Malo” and “Safaera” from Bad Bunny’s album, YHLQMDLG.

On the song, he raps, “Major distribution / Labels call me Bad Bunny numbers / It’s a robbery / 500 million, just for Aubrey.” Bad Bunny appreciated the compliment — he posted a video yesterday, December 21, of him bobbing his head to the rhythm of the track and even picking up a weight and lifting it. It’s safe to say he liked the excuse to flex.
Drake shared the clip on his own account, writing: “You know who’s really running up the money. it’s me and the [rabbit emoji].”
The Honestly, Nevermind performer also recently responded to often being turned into a meme, like with the “Rich Flex” meme. “I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence,” he said. “I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore there’s a running a dialogue. There’s jokes, you’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people. It is what it is, it just comes with the territory… I’ve always been able to laugh at myself, but I really do feel now that I mentally am able to separate the two. So I just want to stay in that zone, that’s kinda my resolution.”
