Playboi Carti is really keeping fans on their toes. The rapper spent years in silence. He rarely posted on social media, and never, ever released music. All that has changed in the last month. Playboi Carti has dropped two (!) singles, including a collab with The Weeknd. He’s regularly promoting his album on IG and Twitter. And he’s even taking time out of his day to make fun of Kick streamer Adin Ross. Ross has been making headlines as of late for beefing with L.A. artists, and Carti decided to get in on the fun.

The Adin Ross vs. L.A. saga started on September 26. The streamer called out a Kendrick Lamar affiliate for claiming he wasn’t welcome on the West Coast due to his friendship with Drake. Ross proceeded to deny these claims, and threatened to sue the alleged affiliate. Ross also posted a video in which he said he would have security physically assault him. The tension boiled over the following day. Hitta J3, an L.A. rapper who claims to be a Kendrick Lamar affiliate, mocked Adin Ross via Instagram Stories. He brought up the incident in which Playboi Carti went on Ross’ stream, then left after six minutes and proceeded to dip with $2 million of the streamer’s money.

Playboi Carti Had An Infamous Appearance On A Ross Stream

“No wonder Carti didn’t take your podcast serious,” Hitta J3 wrote. “You n**gas be kids with some fame & let it get to yall head Adin.” It was a pretty devastating diss. Playboi Carti’s involvement only made it hit harder. The rapper decided to repost Hitta’s post on his own IG timeline and included a laughing emoji. It clearly struck him as funny that Ross is still getting made fun for an incident that happened in February. It is pretty obvious that Playboi Carti doesn’t have a lot of respect for Ross as a tastemaker.

The rapper has mostly stayed out of the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle, and while he didn’t tip his hand either way, this dig against Ross is the closest we’ve seen to him picking a side. Playboi Carti wasn’t the only artist who dissed Adin Ross on Friday. Smac TDE went online and claimed that he was annoyed by Ross’ tough talk. He claimed to have been a fan of the streamer in the past, but vowed to mace and attack Adin Ross’ security if he ever saw him in L.A.

Adin Ross, whether you love or him or hate him, has built quite a sturdy foundation for himself. The live streamer is easily one of the biggest in the world and he’s also got tons of high-profile connections. Just last month, he got to speak with Donald Trump with a small in-person audience of supporters of the former POTUS. There’s even a slight chance he may get to chat with Trump in The White House. In addition to presidential candidates, Ross also is one of the streamers that gets early access to preview tracks from rappers. Because of this, he’s been able to develop some close relationships. If you have been paying attention to Adin Ross, you may know that he loves Drake.

Throughout the highly publicized beef between him and Kendrick Lamar, the content creator was always backing The Boy. Furthermore, they have been seen calling each other on multiple occasions on his streams. Now, though, things are getting personal, but not in a bad way. In the clip above, you can see them walking through a horde and everyone seems to be in awe of their presence. There are quite a few taking video and snapping some pictures, assuredly to flex on their friends who didn’t come out. Then, at the end of the clip, a girl’s mouth is on the floor due to how excited and shocked she was to see both of them. With this link up we can only assume that these two talked about doing an in-person live stream in the near future.

Playboi Carti and Adin Ross have a pretty complicated relationship these days. This is because of their disastrous livestream from back in February that allegedly cost the streamer $2 million for just about ten minutes of very limited conversation with the Atlanta creative. Since then, Ross hasn’t been very pro-Carti. That being said, feelings change over time, and the new hype behind his I AM MUSIC album rollout could change this dynamic somewhat. Moreover, the Kick giant’s reaction to the new track “ALL RED” shows that he can separate his personal experiences with the artist from his enjoyment of the music itself.

“Nah, this s**t hard, though,” Adin Ross said at one point of his recent livestream, and Playboi Carti even responded to this via his Instagram account. “@adinross YOU AINT GOT TO LIKE ME BUT I RESPECT YOU KEEPING IT REAL ABOUT MY MUSIC SOME S**T JUST UNDENIABLE,” he captioned a post of a screenshot of Ross’ stream. However, “ALL RED” also resulted in some legitimate confusion, albeit mostly critical comparisons. Fans couldn’t tell whether or not this was a new Playboi Carti song or a new Future track, pointing out the vocal and flow similarities between both rappers. Carti’s usually someone who pulls from his own unique arsenal of voices, but this deep-voiced experimentation might be his riskiest vocal move yet. Either way, there are plenty of other fans who love this style and how it’s evolved from early displays like “FE!N.” Actually, it’s wild to think how little time it took for this to become a trademark sound in the King Vamp catalog.

Nevertheless, if you still feel like he sounds like Future, we understand. Regardless, Adin Ross’ reaction to “ALL RED” shows that things don’t always have to stay personal, resulting in mutual respect. Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey was over the moon when he heard that Kendrick will headline the Super Bowl, as he’s been supporting him against Drizzy this whole time. Adin Ross, a strong OVO ally, chose to clown Dorsey’s recent tweet about the matter: “‘big as the superbowl.’” The streamer was live when he theorized as to why Jack is so mad at the 6ix God and mocked that he’s no longer in charge of Twitter – sorry, “X.”

“That’s why he’s not the CEO anymore and that’s why Elon Musk is doing a way better job than him,” Adin Ross ranted on his stream “Allowing freedom of speech and s**t. I don’t give a f**k, bro, this f***ing libt**d. I don’t care, I said it, I said it, I said it. Adin Ross is someone who has completely taken the streaming world by storm over the last few years. Overall, he is one of the biggest streamers out there. Consequently, he has been able to collaborate with some truly massive artists. There are plenty of artists within hip-hop who rock with him, including Drake. While Drizzy has not yet done a stream with Adin, he does send him messages from time to time. In fact, he seemingly got a preview for a new song with Drake and Lil Durk.

The song is supposedly called “Discontinuing Wokhardt.” Based on the lyrics, they appear to be an anthem on quitting lean addiction. Drake has allegedly had issues with the drug in the past. Meanwhile, Adin Ross has been very open about the fact that he struggles with lean addiction. While listening to the song, Adin was actually confused as to why he, in particular, was given this opportunity. However, he eventually put two and two together.

Adin Ross Previewed An Unreleased Song By Drake And Lil Durk, And Drake Raps About Quitting Lean

In August, Drake leaned into unconventionally releasing music with a couple of archival “100 Gigs” dumps. A few days before that, Lil Yachty sent Kai Cenat his unreleased song with Drake for Cenat to leak on his livestream because “SOD (Supersoak)” can’t have an official release.

On Wednesday night, September 4, Drake and Lil Durk turned to another popular streamer. Adin Ross previewed an unreleased Drake and Durk song being referred to as “Discontinuing Wokhardt” on his livestream. Several X (formerly Twitter) accounts, such as Complex, have captured and circulated Ross’ livestream.

According to Genius, Drake raps (or sing-raps), “Discontinuing Wockhardt / What seal do I pop now? / What seal do I pop now? / What seal do I pop now? / You know that the Act’ gone, I can’t get no Wok now.”

Afterward, Ross said, “Wait, I just realized — why’d they have me preview that? Is it because I was on lean? I’m not on lean no more. And how does The Boy know about — yeah, nah, he’s tapped in. Damn, that was hard.”

Wockhardt is a pharmaceutical company associated with manufacturing codeine and promethazine, a combination meant to treat cough and cold symptoms. It’s also known as “lean” or “sizzurp” when abused as a drug.

Drake Raps About Quitting Lean In Snippet For New Lil Durk Collab

Adin Ross has become Funkmaster Flex for Gen Z. It may churn the stomach of some fans to read that, but it’s true. Ross (and fellow streamer Kai Cenat) have become the means through which rappers tease new music. Drake is the biggest rapper in the world, and he’s leaked several songs to both Ross and Kai Cenat in the last year. The latest instance of this happened on September 4. Adin Ross played a snippet of an unreleased Drake and Lil Durk song called “Discontinuing Wockhardt.” It sounds like a potential hit, but it has lyrics that may catch some fans off guard.

The snippet starts with Lil Durk rapping, but Drake steals the show in multiple ways. His melodic flow is so catchy when he gets on the track that Adin Ross even commented on it. More than the flow or melody though, “Discontinuing Wockhardt” will garner attention for Drake’s bars. The rapper opens his verse by claiming that he’s quitting lean. “Discontinuing Wockhardt,” he sings. “But still do I pop now.” Wockhardt is a Promethazine and codeine combination is used to relieve coughs. Well, it’s supposed to be, at least. It’s also used to make lean. Drake’s (former?) friend Lil Yachty used the brand as the basis for his song “Wock” in 2022.

Drake Recently Caught Heat For Drinking Around His Son

The timing of the snippet is worth considering. Drake recently caught flack from fans for a video in which he appeared to be drinking lean around his son, Adonis. The video is shot from Drake’s perspective, and sees him get in a car with what looks to be a cup of lean. Fans were horrified by the rapper’s seemingly oblivious attitude towards his son. He also caught heat for drinking such a potent combination around a child in the first place.

Drake hasn’t made lean part of his persona the way other rappers have. Future would be the most prominent example of someone basing their sound and overall vibe after the drink. He has, however, admitted to drinking it as far back as 2011. During an interview with The Guardian, Drake opened up about the drugs he consumed during his rise to fame. “Have I sipped codeine before? Yeah, of course,” he told the outlet. “Have I smoked weed? Yes. Do I drink wine? Yes. But do I do it excessively? No. I’m not a reckless guy. I do it all within moderation.” Sounds like lean have been taken out of rotation, though, if the new song is to be believed.

Playboi Carti Trolls Adin Ross By Including Their Phone Call In A New Leaked Track

Playboi Carti still hasn’t dropped a new album, and apart from his “officially shared” material over the past few months, plenty of unofficial leaks also surfaced. A recent unreleased track appeared online and raised many fans’ eyebrows for how it seemingly disses Adin Ross by using an alleged phone call recording of the streamer in the intro. As for the quality of the song itself, it’s basically a more low-key version of what you’d expect from this Carti era, but there’s not enough context to really tell whether this is a troll or a genuine diss. Either way, he’s definitely leaning into the bit, and we can’t imagine that Adin is too happy about this considering the money that the rapper finessed from him after their failed livestream.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time that an alleged Playboi Carti leak has seemingly dissed Adin Ross and the higher-ups at the Kick streaming platform in the past. “I scammed a billionaire, woah,” he raps on an unreleased leaked version of “Type S**t” with Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott. It’s a bit of a weird flex, but a notable line regardless.

Playboi Carti Includes Adin Ross Call In New Leak

Meanwhile, Adin Ross is not happy with Playboi Carti at all (for understandable reasons), and is even campaigning against his new music. He said that the Whole Lotta Red creative’s last “single” on social media, “KETAMINE,” is “trash” and “damage control” for all the new security footage that Adin released of their livestream moment. Of course, fans on either side have their reasons to clown their fav’s enemy, and most of them probably are just enjoying the antics and find the whole thing funny. But we doubt that things will ever get super serious between a content creator and an antisocial artist.

“Don’t think Carti 2 is happening anymore,” Adin Ross expressed concerning his failed efforts to link up with Playboi Carti again. “I have a theory that Carti was just texting me to kind of just keep me in the position where I’m not gonna be on his bad side, where I’m on the internet talking crazy, if that makes sense. To get the heat off his name type s**t. I think I got played, but hey bro, it is what it is. Because I was texting his phone and he stopped answering out of nowhere. I have the warehouse footage. I’m about to just release it. Once I get the confirmation that we’re not doing part two. Is that blackmail? I mean dude, I kind of got scammed, so I’m blackmailing a f***ing scam so you can’t blame me.”

Adin Ross says that Donald Trump said the two will be able to do another stream together in the future and that it will take place at the White House. He reflected on his interview with the former President during a livestream on Friday. In doing so, he revealed that he’ll be speaking with Trump again at the White House if he wins in the upcoming election.

“This is what he says before the last words. ‘Adin, next one we do we’ll go to the White House.’ Smile on his face, walks out,” Ross recalled. From there, he praised his audience. “I don’t think you guys understand the power that you guys have. You guys showed the President of the United States how powerful this community is.”

When DJ Akademiks shared Ross’ comments on Instagram, fans were highly critical in the comments section. “Imagine listing to Adin Ross on political topics. A middle class kid with little education who got really rich really fast,” one user wrote. Although it was a pretty easy path for him to get there, some Republicans still staunchly oppose him. By that, we mean they oppose his messaging, but not his policies. Regardless, Trump wants to win the election and he has been going after the youth vote.

Part of that has been collaborating with people like Adin Ross. Recently, Trump got to join Ross on a stream that got millions of views. All sorts of Kick records were broken, however, the stream still could not touch some of the numbers we saw from Kai Cenat and even Ninja. Having said all of that, Trump was more than grateful for the opportunity to stream with Ross. On Truth Social, the former President had nothing but praise for the young streamer.
