Lil Baby Teams with 42 Dugg and Veeze for New Single “U-Digg”

The summer of Lil Baby is continuing to heat up as he drops the new single and video for “U-Digg” featuring 42 Dugg and Veeze.

The blend of Atlanta and Detroit brings the familiar energy of Baby and Dugg that is previously heard on street classics like “We Paid.” On “U-Digg” the trio weave within each other, while in the video it’s Maybachs galore showing the glory of their hard work.

The new release comes on the heels of the announcement that Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, directed by Karam Gill and produced by Quality Films, MGX Creative, and 4PF, will be available exclusively on Prime Video. On Saturday, the feature-length documentary had its international premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, which was followed by a performance by Lil Baby.

“I’m blessed to be able to tell my story and have people care to hear it,” said Lil Baby. “This film is a real look into my journey, and if it inspires even one person to believe that they can get through hard stuff and dare to follow a dream, then it was worth every penny spent and hour worked. My story is many people’s story and I’m excited to share it.”

Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, And Veeze Show Off Their Bankrolls In The New Video For ‘U-Digg’

Lil Baby has seen a lot of money over the last few years as he has ascended the ranks of the current rap hierarchy. Along the way, he has provided multiple strong records with 42 Dugg but has now added Veeze into the mix for their new record “U-Digg.” The video opens with the My Turn artist having an important phone call before the flexing really ensues.

As the beat begins, Baby, Dugg, and Veeze each walk down a staircase with paper bags full of money. Baby intervenes with the song’s hook as each verse progresses, and the visual finds each rapper showing off how much money they have. While Baby’s Michigan accompanists simply hold their cash, he takes things a step further by lying on the ground and bench pressing the stacks in his possession.

For Lil Baby, “U-Digg” follows his three 2022 solo releases “Frozen,” “Right On,” and “In A Minute” in addition to the two Nicki Minaj collaborations “Bussin” and “Do We Have A Problem?” Veeze has been relatively inactive this year on an individual basis, only putting out “Let It Fly” while 42 Dugg released an entirely collaborative project Last Ones Left with EST Gee.

Kendrick Lamar, ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’

Jay-Z Highlights Babyface Ray, Kodak Black, And More In His New Memorial Day Playlist For Tidal

Another holiday, another chance for Jay-Z to re-up his rap nerd credibility. This time around, Jay’s new Tidal playlist is called “Montecito” and landed on the streaming app on Memorial Day with the description “(Mostly) ’22 vibes.” The one exception that prompts the qualifier is Kodak Black’s 2021 hit “Super Gremlin,” which extended its run far beyond its October 2021 release date as one of the more popular recent singles in rap.

Kodak also appears multiple times on the playlist, with Jay including “Purple Stamp” and “I Wish” from the Floridian’s 2022 project Back For Everything. Other artists Jay included multiple times are Detroit upstart Babyface Ray, whose Face track “A1 Since Day 1” leads off the playlist, and 42 Dugg & EST Gee, the dynamic duo whose joint mixtape Last Ones Left was the brainchild of their CMG team captain, Yo Gotti. Speaking of Yo Gotti, the Memphis mainstay also gets multiple selections from his own new project CM10: Free Game.

Of course, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers gets a few entries, as do Future and Lil Durk, while Boldy James, Pusha T, and Vince Staples are all represented with a track apiece. And because having one problematic entity in Kodak Black apparently wasn’t enough, Jay gave some “True Love” to his musical younger brother Kanye West’s new track with XXXTentacion. If anything is missing, it’s some female representation; you’d think Jay would love the throwback vibe of Megan Thee Stallion’s new track “Plan B.”

As always, though, the new playlist proves that Hov keeps his ears to the street, even if he’s not actively recording any new music himself. And for the newer or more underground artists receiving some spotlight, it’s a chance to tap in with new fans who recognize Jay’s nearly impeccable taste. You can listen to the playlist on Tidal below.

42 Dugg Recruits Arabian for New Single “Soon”

FTNiqQ6WYAAe6dI

“Soon (feat. Arabian)” is the new single by 42 Dugg. The reflective track follows the CMG signee’s collaboration with EST Gee, Last Ones Left, which was released in early April. Dugg set a new career-high as the album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 charts.

The Detroit native’s latest album arrives only one day after his record company, CMG, was named “The Hardest-Working Label in Hip-Hop” on the cover of Billboard. Despite the fact that Dugg was unable to attend the cover shoot, the Billboard cover featured Yo Gotti, the CEO of CMG, as well as labelmates Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee, Mozzy, Blac Youngsta, and Lehla Samia.

Dugg’s first new music release since his incarceration earlier this month, “Soon,” has prompted his CMG family and industry supporters to send #Free42Dugg messages.

The new single may be heard below.

42 Dugg Claimed He Was A Sovereign Citizen Exempt From Federal Laws According To Prosecutors

Earlier this week, 42 Dugg was arrested by federal agents at a Detroit airport after he failed to turn himself in for a sixth-month sentence for firearm possession. The charge comes after Dugg, who is a convicted felon, was seen firing a weapon at an Atlanta gun range back in 2019. As a result, he was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a $90,000 fine. However, Dugg repeatedly violated the terms of his probation after he allegedly tested positive for drugs on multiple occasions and was arrested in Las Vegas. As a result, a judge sentenced him to six months at a federal prison camp in West Virginia.

According to Detroit News, prosecutors shared that they had been looking for Dugg since April when he was scheduled to turn himself in to the prison camp. Eventually, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives secured a search warrant to track the location of the rapper’s phone, which led to them finding him at the Detroit airport around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. The next day, prosecutors explained why they believe Dugg is a flight risk during a court hearing about the arrest.

“When he was arrested he had $25,000 in cash and more than $100,000 in jewelry,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Lanning said during the hearing. “He’s claimed more than $11 million worth of assets. He has access to a private plane with a pilot willing to fly an unnumbered flight where Mr. Hayes is not included on the flight’s manifest.” Lanning concluded, “That’s not an accident. That’s not a happenstance.”

In response to the charges, Dugg’s lawyer told the Detroit News that his client did not turn himself in because they were appealing the six-month sentence. He adds that they mistakenly believed that Dugg did not need to surrender as the appeal was pending. Despite this, prosecutors said Dugg and his teamed filed paperwork in late April that claimed the rapper was a sovereign citizen that was exempt from federal laws. On Thursday, Dugg’s court-appointed lawyer, Casey Swanson, said Dugg did not file the paperwork. “Mr. Hayes did not flee,” she said. “He did not intentionally avoid a sentence in this case.”

Federal Agents Arrest 42 Dugg For Not Surrendering to Federal Prison Camp

42 Dugg Reacts to Fans Questioning Awkward Video with Son

Rising rap star 42 Dugg has been arrested by federal agents for skipping out on a prison sentence. According to the Detroit News, 42 Dugg was supposed to surrender to authorities for a six-month sentence but never showed.

Last month, 42 Dugg was supposed to report to a West Virginia federal prison camp for illegally possessing a firearm. 42 Dugg reportedly fired the gun in an Atlanta gun range. Now, the “We Paid” rapper is facing an absconding charge. All of the charges can now balloon his sentence from six months to five years. Dugg’s private jet landed the rapper in Detroit from Memphis, he was arrested after the plane’s arrival.

Dugg’s lawyer, Steve Schrag, confirms Dugg was arrested as soon as he stepped off the plane, stating, “He got off the plane and they were waiting there to greet him.”
