Megan Thee Stallion Is ‘Excited’ To Return To Music After Having ‘Been So Transformed’ By The Tory Lanez Shooting Case

Over the past few years, Megan Thee Stallion has been put through the wringer. But in an interview/essay with Elle, she revealed that she is reclaiming her power.

Back in December of last year, singer Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan in 2020. While Megan has been open about her pain and trauma following the shooting, she has now decided that she no longer plans to talk about it going forward.

“I don’t plan to keep reliving the most traumatic experience of my life over and over again,” she said. “I’m choosing to change the narrative because I’m more than just my trauma. I was once told that you can’t have crucifixion without resurrection, and that statement resonated so deeply with me.”

Trauma is a recurring theme on Meg’s sophomore album, Traumazine. But her latest interview suggests her new music will be reflective of a more joyous Meg.

“This is a rebirth of a happier and healthier me,” she said. “I’m a survivor and I have — and will continue — to embrace the highs and lows of my journey. I’m excited to get back into music, because I have been so transformed. I’m playing around with new songs and new sounds that I can’t wait for everyone to hear.”

Megan Thee Stallion Opened Up About The Tory Lanez Shooting Case For ‘The Final Time’ In A Touching New Essay

Megan Thee Stallion, as part of a cover story for Elle Magazine, shared a powerful new personal essay that finds her reflecting on the Tory Lanez assault trial. (He was found guilty last year following the 2020 incident.)

In the piece, she spoke about the implications of the trial and how not being believed affected her:

“It never crossed my mind that people wouldn’t believe me. Still, I knew the truth and the indisputable facts would prevail. I had worked way too hard to reach this point in my career to let taunts deter me. When the guilty verdict came on Dec. 23, 2022, it was more than just vindication for me, it was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them.

But my heart hurts for all the women around the world who are suffering in silence, especially if you’re a Black woman who doesn’t appear as if she needs help. So many times, people looked at me and thought, ‘You look strong. You’re outspoken. You’re tall. You don’t look like somebody who needs to be saved.’ They assumed that, per preconceived stigmas, ‘I didn’t fit the profile of a victim,’ and that I didn’t need support or protection.

Time after time, women are bullied with backlash for speaking out against their attackers, especially when they’re accusing someone who is famous and wealthy. They’re often accused of lying or attempting to make money from their trauma. From firsthand experience, I know why a lot of women don’t come forward. Any support and empathy that I received was drowned out by overwhelming doubt and criticism from so many others.”

Toward the end, she notes that she’s trying her best to heal by taking time off social media and instead hanging out with her dogs (or popping up at baseball games.) Megan has also turned to journaling and prayer. And that, with this piece, it will be the last time she speaks about the incident.

“My purpose is for these words to serve as the final time that I’ll address anything regarding this case in the press,” she wrote. “I understand the public intrigue, but for the sake of my mental health, I don’t plan to keep reliving the most traumatic experience of my life over and over again. I’m choosing to change the narrative because I’m more than just my trauma.”

Coachella Hit With $100K+ In Fines For Violating City Curfew

Coachella returned in all of its glory this past weekend but it didn’t go down without a few hiccups. Fans flocked to Indio, CA for one of the world’s biggest festivals as some of the most exciting artists took the stage. Unfortunately, it seems like a few logistic issues led to some hefty fines for the festival. According to Pitchfork, the city of Indio, CA fined Coachella and its organizers over $100,000 after they violated the city’s curfew on all three nights.

Representatives of Indio confirmed that they issued a $117,000 fine to the festival organizers. In accordance with local law, Coachella was supposed to have their festival wrapped up by 1 a.m. PST on Friday and Saturday and midnight PST on Sunday. However, as previously reported, Frank Ocean was late by nearly an hour to his own performance. While already a short set, he already went 25 minutes over his set. On Friday, the festival breached the 1 a.m. curfew by 25 minutes while Saturday went 22 minutes past the time limit.

Indio and Goldenvoice, the promoters behind Coachella, struck an agreement in 2013 surrounding festival regulations. The money collected from fines would ultimately go toward Indio’s General Fund for operating costs, police, fire departments, and public works. As part of the agreement, Indio fined Coachella $20,000 for going five minutes past curfew. Each minute afterward would amount to an additional $1,000. With weekend two around the corner, hopefully, they manage to avoid facing further fines.

The case surrounding Frank Ocean caused an uproar among festivalgoers and fans at home. For starters, he decided to cut the live stream for his highly-anticipated return to the stage. Then, he appeared nearly an hour late before abruptly informing the crowd that the show was over. Shortly after, reports emerged claiming that Ocean threatened to nix his set altogether Coachella failed to honor his last-minute stage design changes. Some fans were upset but it turned out that Frank Ocean suffered an ankle injury prior to Coachella. His doctors told him that he needed to change his stage design, which reportedly included an ice rink and hockey players. We’ll keep you posted on any more updates surrounding Coachella’s fines.

Kai Cenat Updates Fans After Twitch Ban

Kai Cenat is the king of Twitch right now. Overall, Cenat has tens of thousands of subscribers on the streaming platform. Although these numbers may not seem huge when compared to YouTube stars, there is some context missing here. Firstly, in order to be subscribed to a Twitch streamer, you must be paying $5 per month for a first-tier sub. Therefore, streamers naturally have lower subscriber numbers. However, Cenat brings in millions of dollars per year thanks to just how many subscribers he has.

Unfortunately, Twitch has been known to ban people. Moreover, there reasoning for these bans is oftentimes unknown. Recently, Kai Cenat was the victim of this as his Twitch account was banned indefinitely on Monday. As it stands, Cenat has no reason for why this happened. However, some speculate it could be because he recently accepted a gift from Kick, which is a new rival streaming platform that has reportedly offered Cenat upwards of $50 million. Twitch has yet to give Cenat a streaming contract, and it has led to some speculation that the streamer would move on.

Kai Cenat Speaks

Following the ban, Cenat was on a live stream with Gervonta Davis. As we previously reported, Ryan Garcia joined this stream to make a large wager. During the Davis-only portion of the stream, Kai Cenat addressed his ban, at least briefly. In the clip above, Cenat simply said, “Everybody’s trying to sign me.” Overall, this should not be surprising given all of his success. Cenat recently won “Streamer Of The Year,” and he remains a big name in entertainment. When Adele is calling into your stream, you know that you have made it in life.

No matter what, this is a very bad look for Twitch. In the past, the platform has been accused of not catering to black creators. Many have said that they do not feel welcome on Twitch, which is certainly cause for concern. Whether or not Kai Cenat is unbanned from the platform, still remains to be seen. Let us know what you think of the situation, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the entertainment world.

Doja Cat’s Boob Job Results Revealed In Braless Mirror Selfie

Doja Cat’s Planet Her album marked a major triumph for the genre-bending artist, who delivered the 14-track effort back in June 2021. The project earned her plenty of noteworthy nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys, as well as Billboard’s Top R&B Album. Aside from that, it also proved that the California native is a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Not only did many of the titles (such as “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA and “Ain’t Shit”) go viral on TikTok, but several of them are also sitting at over a million streams on Spotify alone.

Now that Planet Her has had nearly two years to digest, Doja’s fans are eager to hear what she has in store next. For several weeks now, she’s been dropping hints about her upcoming release on social media, though it’s often hard to tell how much of what she says is serious or straight-up trolling. She previously confirmed the title to be Hellmouth and has hinted that she’ll be bringing her rap A-game after facing so much criticism about her lyrics throughout her career. Along with preparing for the album, the 27-year-old has also been candid about her recent trip to the plastic surgeon on Twitter, revealing she underwent a breast augmentation and liposuction earlier this year.

Doja Cat’s Latest Thirst Trap

@dojacat/Instagram Story

Since she made the big announcement nearly a month ago now, fans have been eagerly waiting for Doja to give an update on her body. It finally came on Monday (April 17), when she shared some not-so-subtle thirst traps on her Instagram Story showing off her nipples and the outline of her breasts through a sheer cropped sweater. The “Woman” hitmaker also wore dark wash jeans with light streaks running down her legs, as well as MSCHF’s infamous Big Red Boots.

As if one teaser of her new body wasn’t enough, the performer followed it immediately after with a similar photo, this one taken closer to the mirror. To complete her outfit, Doja Cat added a striped black and white toque with tassels on her head, holding one up while snapping her selfie with the other hand. See for yourself below, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Megan Thee Stallion Reflects On Tory Lanez’s Guilty Verdict

Megan Thee Stallion says that the idea of people not believing her accusations against Tory Lanez never originally occurred to her. The Traumazine rapper reflected on the guilty verdict in Lanez’s trial during a new interview with Elle. She says that the extensive discussion will be her last public comment on the matter.

“It never crossed my mind that people wouldn’t believe me,” Megan said. “For years, my attacker tried to leverage social media to take away my power. Imagine how it feels to be called a liar every day?”

Megan Thee Stallion Arriving At Court

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 13: Megan Thee Stallion whose legal name is Megan Pete arrives at court to testify in the trial of Rapper Tory Lanez for allegedly shooting her on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA. (Jason Armond / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)

The Toronto rapper ended up being found guilty of shooting Megan after a party in the summer of 2020. He was convicted on three felony counts and faces up to 20 years in prison. “Still, I knew the truth and the indisputable facts would prevail,” Megan continued. “I had worked way too hard to reach this point in my career to let taunts deter me. When the guilty verdict came on Dec. 23, 2022, it was more than just vindication for me, it was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them.”

As for where she’s at now, Megan says that she’s doing much better but is still battling with leftover anxiety from the entire ordeal. “I’m in a happier place, but I still have anxiety,” she admitted to the outlet. “I’ve accepted this chapter of my life as part of my journey, but I will not allow it to define my journey. I’ve been dragged through the mud, but I’m so happy that I’m able to finally come out of it with a new perspective.”

Tory Lanez isn’t giving up yet, however. He’s filed a motion seeking a new trial while arguing jurors were “erroneously allowed” to see an Instagram comment. The comment reportedly shows Lanez stating that Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris was not the shooter.
