Weekend one of Coachella kicked off this weekend, with most of the prominent acts bringing along some surprise guests to join them on stage. Sometimes, there was even more than one at the same show.

Here are all the surprise guest performances from Coachella 2023… So far.

Friday started off with Muna bringing out Boygenius, where they performed the hit song, “Silk Chiffon,” together.

Kaytranada had Kali Uchis join to play “10%” and Aminé to perform the duo’s new song together. Later, on Sunday, Uchis would perform her own Coachella set, where she brought out Tyler The Creator for “See You Again,” Don Toliver for “Fantasy,” and Omar Apollo for “Worth The Wait.”

Metro Boomin had a wild lineup, with The Weeknd, Mike Dean, Future, John Legend, 21 Savage, and Diddy all joining him for various songs.

In typical fashion, Gorillaz brought quite a few surprises, including De La Soul, Del The Funky Homosapien, Thundercat, Slowthai, Peven Everett, Jamie Principle, and Bootie Brown.

Bad Bunny, who headlined Friday night, brought along Ñengo Flow, Jowell & Randy, Post Malone, and Jhayco as surprise guests performances during his set.

On Saturday, Rosalía brought out her fiancé, Rauw Alejandro, as they performed their “Beso” collaboration.

Labrinth also had Billie Eilish join him for a performance of their collab, “Never Felt So Alone,” which was recently released.

Latto‘s Sunday set included appearances from Lola Brooke for the “Don’t Play With It” remix and Saweetie on “Bitch From Da Souf.”

Lil Dicky Is A ‘Rapper’s Rapper,’ According To What He Says ‘All-Time Great Rappers’ Have Told Him

Lil Dicky has taken a lot of flak over the years for his comedic approach to hip-hop. He’s been seen as a gentrifier and interloper, an opportunist, and even as problematic for some of his antics over the years. This has given him plenty of content for his semi-autobiographical FX show Dave, but while the show benefits from being able to laugh at the critics and Dicky himself, it also gives Dicky the platform to prove one thing about his artistry: He can rap like nobody’s business.

He pointed out as much in a new story in The Hollywood Reporter, addressing the criticism from rap gatekeepers while also noting that many of his contemporaries and inspirations have mad respect for his mic skills. Of the detraction, he says it mostly comes from “elitist, hipster journalists who thought that it was their place to speak on behalf of hip-hop,” while the praise comes when “I’m meeting the all-time great rappers and they’re telling me, like, man, I’m a rapper’s rapper.” According to THR, some of those names include 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, while his show has featured comedic turns from Young Thug, Doja Cat, Rick Ross, and Killer Mike.

Speaking with Uproxx about Dave‘s third season, now airing weekly on FX, Dicky talked about how splitting time between the show and music has forced fans to wait for more of the latter. “I just know that my fans are starving for music,” he said. “I’m well aware of that. And the show takes up so much of my time that I didn’t want people to think that I’m just an actor playing a rapper now. I just want to remind people that I do make music. And I love music, and I think it’s really cool and unique to the show. And I don’t think any other show could do that.”

Fans on Twitter are buzzing about Chance The Rapper, sending his name onto the trending topics list. However, it wasn’t because of new music. Instead, fans were enthralled by a video of the Chicagoan artist, who was seen enjoying a Carnival vacation in Jamaica. In the video, a pair of women playing mas twerk in front of the rapper for a few seconds before all three burst into laughter.

The reason for the controversy, though, stems from Chance’s well-known reputation as hip-hop’s foremost “wife guy.” Chance famously married his longtime girlfriend, Kirsten Corley, with whom he shares two daughters, in 2019. He even went as far as naming his debut album The Big Day — a fact that drew the amusement of fans and generated the meme of Chance as an inveterate simp for his spouse (which… isn’t exactly a bad thing, but the audience loves a scumbag more than a square).

So, seeing Chance living it up in Jamaica with scantily-clad women had some Twitter users up in arms. “Chancellor where is yo wifeeee,” wrote one. However, others seemingly backed him up, pointing out that dancing in public should hardly be considered grounds for divorce. Some fans even pulled up the lyrics to his Coloring Book house party anthem “Juke Jam,” in which he says, “I mean, it’s just dancing, it’s harmless as f*ck.”

Doja Cat Teases Snippets Of Her New Album And Shares The Possible Tracklist

Doja Cat is having fun messing around with her fans about her new album. The follow-up to 2021’s singular Planet Her is highly anticipated and rumors abound, mostly started by the singer herself. For instance, she has continuously backtracked on what genre it will be: rave-influenced, rap, R&B, punk, not pop.

As if that’s not enough, Doja has fans confused about what it will be called. She’s teased the title Hellmouth and then claimed it was “not Hellmouth anymore,” and instead Moist Holes. Of course, fans did not take that at face value.

Yesterday (April 17), the “Woman” performer shared an Instagram Story that seemed to unveil the LP tracklist, which included 19 songs. It displays questionable titles such as “Wet Vagina,” “Gun,” and “Ouchies.”

Afterward, she went on Instagram Live and played snippets of songs to build up the hype even further. Luckily, the stream has since been shared to YouTube and can be viewed. During it, she says, “You’re probably wondering how I’m hearing this for the first time when it’s my song, but whenever I make a song or an album, I’m so high that I forget what it sounds like until I come back to it.”

Benny The Butcher Chooses Between “Snowfall” & “Power”

There has been an influx of crime thrillers in recent years exploring the stories of the inner cities, like Power. The series follows the story Ghost and Tommy Egan as they try to balance the streets and legitimate business interests. Meanwhile, a story like Snowfall — created by John Singleton — brings us back to the 80s and provides a fictionalized account of the rise in crack cocaine in South Central Los Angeles through the eyes of Franklin Saint. Ultimately, both shows have provided us with endless entertainment but it’s hard to choose between the two.

Benny The Butcher recently sparked a debate surrounding the two shows. The Griselda rapper appeared on Instagram Live this week when a fan asked him to choose between the two crime shows. “Snowfall is better,” Benny said as he nodded his head, though he didn’t discount the storyline Power or its spin-offs. “I’m saying Snowfall is better, but, they’re both great shows. I like to see Michael Rainey — I like watching his ascension. He’s fire. He’s getting better and better at his shit. But for some reason, I’m just more drawn in to Snowfall.” 

Benny The Butcher: Snowfall vs. Power

Perhaps, it’s not the hottest take imaginable but we could imagine that 50 Cent might not be entirely happy with his personal preference. Snowfall certainly earned Benny The Butcher’s praise, thanks to its stellar cast and an impeccable team of writers. The series is expected to conclude its sixth and final season this week. However, it won’t be the end of the show entirely. FX confirmed that they’re developing a spin-off series that could see Gail Bean reprise her role as Wanda.

Of course, Power produced a series of spin-offs that have transformed it into a franchise. 50 Cent launched Power Book II: Ghost in September 2020, which focuses on Ghost’s son Tariq. The following year, Power Book III: Raising Kanan debuted, serving as a prequel that explores Kanan Stark’s rise. In 2022, they finally blessed fans with the third and final spin-off, Power Book IV: Force which follows Tommy Egan’s move to Chicago, where he tries to take over the drug trade. Stephen A. Smith Reacts To Potential Draymond Suspension

Stephen A. Smith isn’t showing much confidence in Draymond Green appearing in Game 3 of the Warriors opening round playoff series. On Monday night, Green made shockwaves around the league after stomping Domantas Sabonis. However, the incident isn’t as clear-cut as one would think. In the footage of the incident, it does look like Sabonis held Green’s foot before the stomp. But Green’s actions are still not the right thing to do in that situation.

Smith was asked his thoughts on the incident during Tuesday’s edition of First Take. Here’s what Smith had to say. “It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the NBA suspended [Draymond Green] because look at what the NBA does… You do see people get suspended for less.” Smith is torn on the situation that transpired on Monday night. While it does seem like there’s more to the story than a stomp. However, Smith makes a great point that the NBA has suspended players for less. Stephen A. Smith Expects A Suspension

The NBA does attempt to stay in situations like this and for good reason. Monday night’s incident could have easily been far worse. It didn’t make the situation any better when Green began instigating the Sacramento fanbase. Green has long been known as a fiery personality on the court. However, now his actions could cost him to miss time in a vital series. One has to wonder if the league will also look into the actions of Sabonis as well. Sabonis’ actions are the reason Green claims we are in this situation.

The Kings took a 2-0 series lead over the Warriors on Monday. The first time Steph Curry has ever trailed 2-0 in a playoff series. Losing Green at a time like this would be unfortunate timing. Damar Hamlin Cleared To Play Football Again

Damar Hamlin’s injury last season shook the entire world to the core. In what looked like a regular football play. Soon turned into a battle for the young man’s life. Hamlin was injured after Bengals WR Tee Higgins’s helmet collided with his chest. The hit caused Hamlin to suffer a medical emergency on the field. Flash forward nearly four months, and Hamlin is getting the best news he could ever hear. It appears that the Buffalo safety has been cleared to return to football activities.

The news is just an incredible story of what many believed at one time would end in tragedy. The entire NFL community rallied behind Hamlin in his time of need. For the rest of last season, players wore shirts in support of Damar during warm-ups. The Bills even brought Hamlin to the stadium for their playoff rematch with the Cincinnati Bengals. Since the injury, Hamlin has praised those medical professionals who saved his life on that field in Cincinnati.

Damar Hamlin Receives Positive News

In the months since his injury, Hamlin has made a great recovery, as well as pushing for a cause. Recently the young Bills star visited the Capitol to speak on how his life was saved. Hamlin is educating the country on how AED/CPR training should be available in every school in America. CPR and AED are some of the major reasons Hamlin can tell his story today. Hamlin’s fight to give every child that safety during sporting events just shows the character of the man.

While Hamlin is cleared for football activities. However, that doesn’t mean he will be going 100% to get things started. But according to the Bills organization, Hamlin is in Buffalo and ready to begin his journey. Hamlin was just in his second season in the NFL this past year. The former Pittsburgh Panther was taken in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Bills. I, along with everyone in the football world, am happy to hear this amazing news for Damar Hamlin.
