Karlie Redd’s Ex Mo Fayne Denied Jail Release, Feds Say He’s A “Menace:” Report

Unfortunately for Mo Fayne, it seems like his legal troubles are far from over. Best known for his stint on Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta as the fiancé and eventual ex-husband of Karlie Redd, he has since made a name for himself for various money-laundering and fraud-related situations

He pled guilty this month in connection with a PPP loan fraud case after he was arrested last May on $2 worth of bank fraud charges. In exchange for the guilty plea, federal prosecutors dropped 14 other charges and shaved his recommended prison sentence down to about 12.5 years. As we reported, his defense team was working to get him released. According to TMZ, however, it ended up being a royal failure.

The former reality TV star had a hearing on Monday (May 24)  in Georgia where prosecutors argued he should remain behind bars until sentencing for the federal fraud case he’s already pleaded guilty to. Prosecutors argue that one, long before being arrested, he had already been searching for ways to escape prosecution by Googling which countries he could flee to without fear of being extradited.

They also argued that he’s an established fraudster who discussed scamming other people. They referred to him as a menace and a danger to the general public. The judge agreed with the feds regarding Fayne’s search history, as well as allegations that he’s bragged to a witness about not having to spend a single day in jail.

He’s been locked up since December for violating the terms of his bond after allegedly contacting a potential witness in the case. He’s set to be sentenced in September. As usual, we’ll keep you updated.

Doja Cat, HER, Charlie Puth, And More Sign On To The New Sustainable NFT Marketplace OneOf

The rise of NFTs in the music industry has been rapid over the past several months, with seemingly every big artist breaking into the cryptocurrency art market. But the prevalence of NFTs have also caused some backlash among fans who have noted the massive amount of energy it takes to use cryptocurrency. But a new NFT marketplace aims to offer an environmentally-friendly option, and artists like Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Charlie Puth have already signed on.

OneOf is an NFT marketplace aimed specifically at musicians and their fans. The platform uses Tezos blockchain, which they claim in press materials uses “over 2 million times less energy than other networks such as Ethereum, and requires the same energy as sending out a tweet.” Along with reducing energy consumption, OneOf has committed to donating a percentage of their platform’s revenue from every sale to charity.

Doja Cat has already signed on to be one of the first artists to mint an NFT on OneOf’s platform. “I cannot wait to release my first Juicy Drops collection,” she said in a statement. “However, I want to be mindful of environmental concerns and accessibility to all of my fans before we go live. Happy to now be working with OneOf who is addressing both of these issues.”

This isn’t the first time Doja Cat will be minting NFTs. Back in April, the singer launched her first collection of NFTs through her own curated NFT marketplace, Juicy Drops. The cryptoart was designed by toy designer BOOMTRONIC and was inspired by her 2021 Grammys performance.

Along with Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Charlie Puth, other artists that have signed onto OneOf’s platform include Quincy Jones, John Legend, TLC, Jacob Collier, G-Eazy, AURORA, The Kid LAROI, and Alesso. It was co-founded in partnership with Quincy Jones and Quincy Jones Productions, and raised over $63 million in funding so far.

OneOf officially launches to the public in June. Find out more information here.

Some of the artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Bankroll Freddie Seemingly Confirms Reports He Was Shot

Arkansas rapper Bankroll Freddie has been on the come-up in recent months, signing with Quality Control Music, releasing celebrated videos for “Add It Up” and “Pop It” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, and receiving a profile in XXL‘s “The Break” column. However, the trap rapper has perhaps kept it too real as he rises to fame (see his “Last Real Trap Rapper” video above), as reports and rumors recently surfaced that he’d been shot. While the sources themselves were somewhat dubious — among them VladTV and SayCheeseTV — Freddie himself seemed to confirm the reports on social media.

Reposting a well-wisher’s screenshot of one outlet’s headline, Freddie’s post seemed to verify the original post’s content. Meanwhile, a separate video on the story was captioned “I’m good” as Freddie leaned back to show a wound on his chin, although it’s unclear whether this is the reported gunshot wound.

Instagram

While getting shot sucks, it’s a doubly inopportune moment for him, as he’s just about a month past the release of his debut project for Quality Control, Big Bank. Released in early April, the mixtape is a star-studded affair that includes appearances from major stars like 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, and Young Dolph, as well as fellow rising artists Big30 and EST Gee. As far as breakout projects go, Big Bank is as close to a star-making vehicle as it gets, so hopefully, Freddie can recover soon and get back to promoting his music on Instagram rather than showing off scars.

You can see Freddie’s response and his video for “Last Real Trap Rapper” above.

Erica Mena Files For Divorce After Safaree Allegedly Gets Caught Cheating On Video

After pretending to have gotten divorced last year before admitting that they were clout-chasing, Erica Mena has officially filed for divorce from Safaree Samuels according to TMZ. She is presently expecting the couple’s second child together.

This news comes after a video surfaced on social media, showing Safaree allegedly dancing intimately with another woman at the club. It’s unclear if the video was filmed recently but it might have been the final straw for Erica.

The Love & Hip Hop star filed for divorce after telling fans that she has no interest in getting pregnant again. “It’s not easy doing it alone,” she explained. Many of their fans began to speculate on what had happened between Safaree and Erica, also noticing that both of them had deleted their recent photos together. Safaree also deleted his Mother’s Day post for Erica.

The legal documents were obtained by TMZ, claiming that Erica is filing for primary physical custody of their daughter Safire, who is one year old. She also wants child support and exclusive use of their current home.

Considering the couple has aired out much of their dirty laundry on reality television, do you think their divorce might play out on the small screen too?

Bruno Mars Sells Part Of His Catalog To Warner Chappell Music

Billboard reports that Bruno Mars has sold a portion of his music catalog to publishing company Warner Chappell, a transaction that went down over six months ago. It’s unknown how many of his 232-song catalog was included in the deal, though it should be noted that Mars retained a minority stake in the tracks he sold to Warner Chappell.

Guy Moot, CEO of Warner Chappell, opened up about the deal in a statement. “Bruno is a creative genius and it’s a huge honor to deepen our relationship with him,” he praises. “At the heart of his immense talents is his incredible songwriting, which he honed for years before he became a recording superstar. Like only a true great can, he’s mastered and transcended multiple musical genres with extraordinary originality and versatility. The world will continue to fall in love with his songs for generations to come.”

Billboard also shared a statement from Mars, who expressed interest in bringing things full circle. “I began my career at Atlantic and it made sense to keep my business in the family, with the team who have supported me and grown with me,” Mars explains. “This is me doubling down with people I trust. We’re just at the beginning of the journey and there’s so much more to come.”

Suffice it to say, Mars’ catalog is certainly a valuable asset. The singer-songwriter recently made history as the artist with the most diamond certifications with five: “Grenade,” “Uptown Funk,” “Just The Way You Are,” “That’s What I Like,” and “When I Was Your Man.” It’s unclear as to whether or not any of Mars’ diamond-certified singles were included in the deal.

Mars is not the first artist to have sold a share of his catalog. RZA previously inked a deal in which he sold half his 814-song catalog to Hipgnosis Sounds. Earlier, No I.D. sold his entire catalog to the same company

Lil Tecca Gets Rid Of His Braces, Cole Bennett Says It’s The “End Of An Era”

Lil Tecca was introduced to much of the world back in 2019 after his breakout single “Ransom” blew up. Included in his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca, he went on to churn out more hits like “Love Me” and “Did It Again.” He followed up with his debut studio album Virgo World in 2020 with a star-studded feature lineup that included the likes of Polo G, Lil Durk, Skrillex, Lil Uzi Vert, Nav, and more.

In the visual for “Ransom,” 18-year-old was easily recognizable with his distinct, youthful look. He sported braids, braces, and glasses, a look we all came to associate with the teenager. Concluding an era, Tecca shared a photo after a recent dentist visit with an update for fans.

“Yeeeeeeee,” Tecca wrote simply under the caption of a photo of himself smiling wide. Visibly appearing much more mature now with his new look, many mourned the end of an era.

Frequent collaborator and Lyrical Lemonade music video director Cole Bennett chimed in on his new visage, pointing out that a brace-less Tecca was the conclusion of an era. Taz Taylor of Internet Money and $NOT also expressed similar sentiments, referring to the “Never Left” artist as Big Tecca.

Back in February, Tecca was photographed alongside Bennett filming a music video with The Kid Laroi and 24kGoldn. While no updates on the progress of the video have been given, it’s obvious there is something on the horizon.

What do you think of “Big Tecca’s” new look? Let us know down in the comments!

Dominican Singer Nfasis Roasted For Wearing T-Shirt & Shorts To His Wedding

People are not impressed with reggaeton singer Nfasis after he chose to wear casual attire to his own wedding this week, posting pictures of himself kissing the bride in a see-through t-shirt, a white tank top, and a pair of distressed shorts. While the look would definitely have been a choice out on the street, fans are roasting the singer for putting such little thought into his wedding attire after his wife arrived in such a gorgeous dress.

The pictures are going viral with many claiming that they would not be okay with the groom showing up dressed like this. Nfasis posted the pictures two days ago, telling fans that his daughters, family, and friends were at the ceremony.

“I think there are moments for everything and out of respect for her, who was very pretty in her dress, you should have respected the etiquette and protocol,” said one of the singer’s fans in a comment translated from Spanish. Another fan pointed out that he’s allowed to dress however he wants to his wedding but that he should be open to criticism. “It is his life and it is useless to comment but if he publishes his love life he has to accept criticism. It is disrespectful and clownish to be dressed like this to your wedding,” they said.

In a few years, Nfasis will surely be looking back on this day with great pride… What do you think about his wedding attire? Was it inappropriate or is he allowed to do whatever he wants?

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Announce Verzuz Rematch

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have certainly worked wonders as allies, having built their Verzuz venture into a veritable empire. Yet it should never be forgotten that these are hip-hop legends, and as such, a little bit of healthy competition should be expected. Having previously announced that a Verzuz rematch would be taking place on Memorial Day weekend, the two producers confirmed that they themselves would be stepping up to do battle once again.

This Sunday, May 30th, Swizzy and Timbaland will go head to head in a live battle at LIV nightclub in Miami, with the event taking place at 5PM PT / 8PM ET. Should you be interested in checking it out, you can watch on Triller, the Fite APP, and via the Verzuz Instagram page.

It’s unclear as to whether or not songs from their previous battle will be off-limits, but given the depth of their respective catalogs, the pair will have no shortage of material to draw from. And unlike their previous match-up, which took place at the onset of the Verzuz movement, this one will take place face-to-face, which will bring a new dynamic into the fold. Not to mention the fact that both producers will likely be sporting a few new weapons, with Swizzy’s upcoming placements on DMX’s Exodus and Timbo’s recent work on J. Cole’s The Off-Season.

Check out the details below, and be sure to sound off with your predictions for the upcoming Verzuz rematch. All things considered, which producer will walk away with the crown — Swizz Beatz or Timbo The King?

6ix9ine Is Still Breathing Down Lil Durk’s Neck

The feud between Tekashi 6ix9ine and Lil Durk has been surprisingly one-sided but that’s not stopping the Brooklyn-based troll from constantly antagonizing Smurk on social media. 6ix9ine has been particularly vocal following the shooting death of rapper King Von, who was close to Lil Durk, and he has been trying to hit one of the rapper’s nerves with distasteful comments on Instagram

This weekend, after Durk spoke out with a message about “sliding for ya mans” and “kicking killer shit,” 6ix9ine felt like it was the perfect opportunity to troll him in the comments, breathing down his neck once again.

“Ya don’t slide for ya mans don’t kick no killer shit our way n***as bitches fr… the evil side… talk up,” wrote Durkio on Instagram, seemingly tempting his opps into running up.

“Am I the only one who read this and said he’s talking about himself,” wrote back 6ix9ine, joking about Durk talking a big game while not necessarily walking the walk… according to his own accord. In the comments, many people are agreeing with 6ix9ine. “Bro dissing himself,” reads one of the top replies. “He ain’t slid for VON,” responded somebody else.

Instagram

Thus far, Lil Durk hasn’t responded to 6ix9ine. In recent months, he has not given the controversial rapper the time of day so it’s likely that he’ll ignore this message.

What do you think about this?
