Gabrielle Union Starring And Producing Upcoming Horror Film ‘The Casket Girls’

Horror films are happening more frequently in Hollywood these days. The relatively inexpensive to produce, and they tend to work everywhere in the world. Gabrielle Union is no stranger to the genre, and has reportedly signed on to star in and produce the upcoming horror film The Casket Girls, according to Deadline.

The project, produced by Get Out‘s QC Entertainment, will be directed by Justin Dyck. The film’s script is a revised version by Dyck and Keith Cooper, based on an original screenplay by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.

Here’s the reported synopsis:

Set in the 1700s, the film is on a true story about young women who are sent to New Orleans from France to become brides to French colonists.
Their belongings are sent with them in caskets (aka chests), and that after the women arrived, New Orleans’ homicide rate skyrocketed. The townspeople labeled the girls as vampires and imprisoned them in the Ursuline Convent.

Get this, Union will portray a modern-day detective who, along with her partner and a group of tourists, gets trapped in the convent when the Casket Girls finally escape centuries later.

When it comes to behind the camera, QC Entertainment’s Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield will produce the film, with Edward H. Hamm Jr. and Lighthouse Pictures’ Jameson Parker serving as executive producers. Filming is set to begin on October 15 in Victoria, British Columbia.

Here we go … The Week 3 NFL schedule kicks off with a primetime AFC East matchup as the New England Patriots visit the New York Jets for Thursday Night Football. The Young Thug YSL RICO trial is still ongoing … Remember that trial? Yup, it’s still happening. New developments have emerged concerning Quindarius Zachary, a critical witness for the state. Zachary, also known as Lil Dee, was arrested last week on a material witness warrant in connection with a 2015 drive-by shooting involving YSL members.

His health, however, has become a significant concern. Zachary suffers from sickle cell anemia and has reportedly been hospitalized multiple times over the past four months. His lawyer is now pleading for his release, fearing that remaining in custody at Fulton County Jail could be fatal for Zachary.

Get this, a GoFundMe page supporting Zachary claims that he was wrongfully detained after being discharged from the hospital and accuses authorities of corruption in his arrest. The page has raised over $7,300 so far. It also alleges that his request for a transfer to a medical unit was denied, exacerbating concerns about his deteriorating healthl.

What’s more, Zachary has been implicated by fellow YSL associate Antonio “Mounk Tounk” Sledge, who testified that Zachary was involved in a 2015 shooting targeting family members of a rival gang. This testimony aligns with statements Sledge made as part of his plea deal, further implicating Zachary in YSL’s criminal activities.

In case you forgot because quite frankly sometimes we do, the trial, which has become the longest-running in Georgia’s history, has seen numerous disruptions, including medical issues, arrests, and the dismissal of multiple officials. As it drags on, the health of witnesses like Zachary and the overall direction of the case remain at the forefront of discussions.

U.S. Attorney Reveals Text Messages Between Diddy And Alleged Victims

Another day, another harrowing revelation about Diddy. The Assistant U.S. Attorney handling the case against Diddy, Emily Johnson, has revealed damning information about the mogul since his arrest on Monday. Well, more damning information. Diddy was already caught on video assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway. Johnson alleged that there was a sex worker present with the couple prior to the assault, however. She also revealed text messages between the mogul and some of his alleged victims.

The names of the alleged victims were not released. The context behind their text exchanges was also kept relatively vague. That said, the statements made in these texts do not portray Diddy in a flattering light whatsoever. “I turn my head for a second,” wrote one alleged victim. “And you get f*cked up, and you drag me down the hall by my hair.” The other text messages were equally blunt. One of them noted that Diddy gave them “bleeding cuts,” while another alleged victim stated that Diddy struck her in the head a “good two times.”

The most heartbreaking text, however, came from the fourth alleged victim. She cut to the heart of the mogul’s complex, and called out the mogul for abusing his power. “When you get f*cked up the wrong way, you always want to show me that you have the power,” she claimed. “You knock me around. I’m not a rag doll. I’m someone’s child.” These text messages were submitted to the court a day after Emily Johnson shared alleged texts between Diddy and Cassie. In this case, though, the messages were from Diddy, and they were sent right after the aforementioned hallway assault.

“Call me, the cops are here. I got six kids,” a seemingly panicked Diddy texted Cassie. “Yo, please call, I am surrounded. You gonna abandon me all alone.” Emily Johnson used this text message as an example of the mogul fearing police recourse. “The defendant knew he had done something,” the Assistant U.S. Attorney stated. “That could elicit police response.” The text messages between Diddy and his alleged victims have severely hampered the case that the mogul’s lawyer has tried to make. Marc Agnifilo tried flipping the hallway assault by placing the blame on Cassie, but the texts have effectively kneecapped this angle.

Apple Introducing Adding CA Driver’s Licenses And State IDs In ‘Wallet’ With New Pilot Program

The future is here. The days of carrying around your actual ID may be coming to an end… Apple just introduced the ability for California residents to add their driver’s licenses and state IDs to Apple Wallet, allowing them to securely and conveniently present their IDs using an iPhone or Apple Watch. This initiative is part of the California DMV’s mobile driver’s license (mDL) pilot program, which launched last year and is limited to 1.5 million participants.

“Enabling California residents to seamlessly add and present their IDs with their iPhone or Apple Watch represents a significant step in replacing the physical wallet with a more secure and private digital wallet,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. “The launch also represents an important milestone in the rollout of IDs in Apple Wallet. Not only is California one of the largest states in the U.S., but it’s also our own backyard, and we’re excited to bring an easy and transparent way to present IDs in our home state.”

Here’s what California Governor Gavin Newsom added, “Californians now have the option of adding their driver’s license or state ID to their iPhone or Apple Watch in Apple Wallet. With this new integration, we’re working to better serve the people of California in the 21st century.”

Get this, the digital expansion into California follows similar launches in Hawaii and Ohio, as well as earlier rollouts in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, and Maryland. Other states, including Montana, New Mexico, and West Virginia, have also committed to adopting this digital ID system. Additionally, Japan has signed on to bring its My Number Card to Apple Wallet, marking the first international expansion of the feature.

How does it work? To use the ID, users simply select their ID in Apple Wallet, hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near an identity reader, review the requested information, and authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID. Currently, IDs in Apple Wallet can be presented at select TSA checkpoints, certain businesses and venues, and Apple Stores across the U.S. for order pickup and Genius Bar appointments. Additionally, apps like Tap2iD Mobile, VeriScan, and Mobile ID Verify allow businesses to securely verify IDs using Apple’s ID Verifier API, without the need for extra hardware.

Soon, users will also be able to use their digital ID for services like CLEAR member enrollment.

Technology is moving real fast. The question is, are we really ready for it?

“He was sitting behind me in the funeral being weird & talking the entire time .. Even said he almost went live in the services smh,” he wrote. “Buddy kept blowing his nose like a trumpet too … Almost had to curse a lady out for taking a pic of the casket as well .. Yall be acting weird as hell at known people’s funerals.”

Diddy Allegedly Denied Bail Due To Victim Intimidation & Bribery

XXL reportedly obtained alleged court documents on Thursday (September 19) that explain why the court denied Diddy’s bond request after his arrest and indictment. If you hadn’t heard, he faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Per these supposed court documents, Sean Combs lost out on bail because of his alleged intimidation and bribery of his alleged victims. He allegedly promised to cover victims’ rent, intimated them into lying about the sexually abusive crimes he’s accused of, trying to convince them to say their alleged sexual activity was consensual.

The supposed documents sum it up: Diddy allegedly “used his considerable wealth and influence to make victims rely on him financially, for example, by paying for their rent or their cars or by offering them career opportunities.” In addition, they claim that after the Cassie lawsuit in November of 2023, he allegedly called one of his victims to offer “support and friendship,” plus full financial support. Allegedly, this is also a process the Bad Boy mogul carried out for his alleged victims after federal authorities raided his Los Angeles and Miami mansions back in March.

“The bail package proposed by defense counsel is insufficient because it fails to adequately protect others from the defendant’s violence, impose measures to prevent and detect obstruction, or prevent the defendant from accessing his vast resources,” the court reportedly responded to Diddy’s lawyer’s Marc Agnifilo’s proposed $50 million bail package. Prosecutors also claimed that the music and business executive attempted to contact Dirty Money member Kalenna Harper 128 times. This is because her supposed witnessing of his alleged abuse to Dawn Richard appears in Richard’s lawsuit against him.

Another massive update in the Diddy case is the potential federal cooperation of a sex worker. Authorities began a lengthy and thorough process of fielding witnesses for the trial, and we don’t know the extent of who could emerge to speak out against him in court. Nevertheless, this situation become more complex and contentious by the day, especially in this heated moment. We’ll see what the next relevant development is when it comes to this indictment.

VP Kamala Harris Leading Trump in New Pennsylvania Polls

Follow the polls. Trust the trends. A recent Washington Post poll reveals a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. Among both registered and likely voters, Harris holds a narrow 1-point lead, with 48 percent support to Trump’s 47 percent.

in fairness, a one point lead is a statistical tie in political jargon.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein garners 1 percent, while Libertarian Chase Oliver receives less than 0.5 percent. Three percent of respondents either have no opinion or skipped the question.

Jill Stein… One point. What does she hope to gain with that one point? We really want to know.

When asked about the key issues influencing their vote, 90 percent of Pennsylvania voters identified “protecting American democracy” as important, with 69 percent calling it “extremely important.” The economy ranks second in importance, with 89 percent considering it significant, including 61 percent who say it’s extremely important.

So if protecting American democracy is very important to Pennsylvanians… How can nearly half of those who were polled support Donald Trump, who clearly tried to overthrow the government? Weird.

Other key issues include crime and safety (79 percent important, 52 percent extremely important), health care (77 percent important, 45 percent extremely important), immigration (70 percent important, 48 percent extremely important), and abortion (62 percent important, 43 percent extremely important).

Harris leads Trump on several issues, including abortion (52 percent to 34 percent), health care (48 percent to 40 percent), protecting democracy (48 percent to 45 percent), and helping middle-class workers (48 percent to 46 percent). Trump, however, holds advantages on immigration (52 percent to 39 percent), the economy (51 percent to 42 percent), and crime and safety (50 percent to 43 percent).

Harris also holds a slight favorability advantage in Pennsylvania, with 47 percent viewing her favorably compared to Trump’s 43 percent. Trump’s unfavorable rating is higher at 49 percent, while Harris’s is at 44 percent.

Get this, in another poll by The New York Times/Siena College/The Philadelphia Inquirer, Harris leads Trump by 4 points in Pennsylvania.

Nationally, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average, Harris holds a 3.6-point lead, and in Pennsylvania, she maintains a slim 1-point edge, 48.8 percent to 47.8 percent.
