Hit-Boy & The Alchemist “THEODORE & ANDRE” Review

Last year, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist teamed up for “Slipping Into Darkness,” a song that saw the two rhyming over the other’s production. Both California producers sounded comfortable, highlighting their underrated skills as lyricists. Since the turn of the decade, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist reached new levels in their careers by releasing prolific full-length collaborations at a high volume. Hit-Boy has worked closely with Nas, Big Sean, Dom Kennedy, The Game, and his father, Big Hit. The Alchemist teamed up with Boldy James, Freddie Gibbs, Armand Hammer, Curren$y, Roc Marciano, and Earl Sweatshirt for stellar collaborations.

Most recently, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist teamed up to produce the entirety of Benny The Butcher’s latest album, Everybody Can’t Go. Known for being skilled beat-makers and collaborators, their lyrical skills should not go unnoticed. Hit-Boy and The Alchemist’s latest 3-song EP, Theodore & Andre, makes sure of that. Their bars are at the center of attention while blending their production styles.

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist Blend Production Styles

On Theodore & Andre, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist expand their chemistry as they rhyme over each other’s production together. This time, there’s a clear-cut intention to create memorable records that build off of a combined sound rather than flexing their lyrical muscle. Hit-Boy’s contemporary soul blends seamlessly with The Alchemist’s vintage loops. The EP’s opening track, “Morrissey” is quintessential Alchemist with its cinematic sample chop and downbeat boom bap. Next, Hit-Boy showcases the versatility of his production, handling the beats on the EP’s other two songs.

“The Main Event” starts as an upbeat trap banger. Hit-Boy raps before transitioning into a traditional drum break over which Alchemist rhymes. The two rapped over distinct beats on “Slipping Into Darkness,” but here, they rhyme over one melody that varies in percussion. The beat switch gives them each their own moment to shine whereas they shine together on the closing track. The Hit-Boy-produced beat on “Don’t Be Gone” is reminiscent of something one might hear on the King’s Disease trilogy. In this song, Hit-Boy and Alchemist rap over a beat that fits both of their styles perfectly. It spotlights not just their synergy as producers, but their lyrical chemistry as well.

Don’t Sleep On Their Lyricism

While they are certainly skilled producers, both Hit-Boy and The Alchemist have shown that they’re equally stellar MCs. Theodore & Andre shows that the two excel at both skill sets and traverse between them quite easily. Hit-Boy’s flow is smooth while Alchemist’s is choppy, which is fitting for their respective styles of production. They find their own pockets, no matter the production similar to how they can cater a particular sound to an artist they’re producing for.

The way Alchemist starts rapping on “Morrissey” makes one wish that he would spit over his beats more often. His bars are sparse as he emphasizes the end of each line. Hit-Boy then comes in at the end with a short yet smoothly executed verse. Throughout Theodore & Andre, both of them flex their lifestyles in their rhymes. The Alchemist raps about outdoing his competitors, making references to his studio and touring life with plenty of food metaphors. Hit-Boy embraces his success, attributing it to his work ethic and divine timing. Their collaborative chemistry really comes together on “Don’t Be Gone,” where they trade celebratory bars over a soulful saxophone loop.

Overall, Theodore & Andre is a lean 3-track EP that displays the chemistry between two artists at the top of their game as rappers and producers. As such a short listen, it is enjoyable for what it is—a quick victory lap. It may not contain their best material ever, but it is something new and exciting for Hit-Boy and The Alchemist. Hopefully, this EP is just the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

Anthony Anderson Hospitalized After On-Set Action Injury

Anthony Anderson has a bone to pick with a chair now following his recent hospitalization for an on-set injury while filming the action movie G20. Moreover, he got many scans and X-rays for the accident that occurred during a particularly hectic fight scene on the Cape Town, South Africa set. “I spent the night in the emergency room,” the entertainment figure and stand-up comic captioned an Instagram post of him on a gurney on Thursday (February 1). “Movie set fight gone wrong. Me against two goons and a chair! Guess who didn’t win! Who needs a stuntman? Me that’s who! I’m not as young as I used to be!”

Fortunately, it seems like Anthony Anderson recovered quickly, as he returned to the social media platform to swear revenge on his new enemy: a chair. “This is the chair that whooped my a** last night!” the storyteller wrote alongside a picture of the furniture. “Something about it is menacing! It sucker punched me in the kidneys and back with no mercy! When I got on set today it was grinning at me! Little does he know I got something for that a**! He gone learn today!”

Anthony Anderson’s Most Recent Instagram Post Addressing Injury

“CT scan and X-rays showed nothing fractured or broken in my back just a deep contusion,” Anthony Anderson had assured in his previous gurney-bound IG post. “That chair will never be the same though! Bloodied and bowed but never broken!” As such, it’s at least heartening to hear that things went smoothly for him, as we’re sure that those injuries on an action set can be difficult to deal with. We’re sure that, slowly but surely, the Black-ish star will go back to relaying hilarious stories about co-stars and fellow celebrities like Tracee Ellis Ross as if nothing happened.

Meanwhile, that perseverance to entertain and stay happy amid all that is a true testament. It also reminded us that he has some great things on the way which we should all be excited for. We wonder if previous takes on Ye as president would still hold up today in a post-recovery stand-up set. To find out, log back into HNHH for more news on Anthony Anderson.

Jacob Elordi Accused Of Assaulting Radio Producer For Bad Joke

Jacob Elordi recently received assault accusations from a radio producer in Australia, which led to a full-on investigation from New South Wales’ police department. Moreover, according to Variety, this claim comes from producer Joshua Fox, who works on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM. His account, shared on the program’s most recent broadcast, is that he ran into the actor at a Sydney hotel and jokingly asked him for his bathwater to give to colleague Jackie O, a reference to his recent appearance in the film Saltburn that received multiple Golden Globes nominations this year. However, an important element of this story is that Fox filmed him during this, and he requested that he stop and get rid of relevant clips.

“‘I refuse to because I feel uncomfortable right now, and this is the only evidence,’” Fox seemingly recalled telling Jacob Elordi. “And then Jacob kind of just flips, and he kind of pushes me against the wall, and his hands are on my throat.” This is all speculative and based on accusations at press time, and the police investigation will likely yield more solid results. For now, though, the Euphoria star is in pretty hot water, and we’re waiting on more solid accounts to confirm or deny this.

Furthermore, New South Wales Police issued a statement on the matter of Jacob Elordi. “Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are investigating after a man was allegedly assaulted outside a hotel in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs,” they expressed regarding Olivia Jade Giannulli’s ex. “Police were told about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday 3 February 2024, a 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 26-year-old man. The man did not sustain any injuries. Inquiries into the incident is continuing.”

Meanwhile, this contrasts heavily with the Brisbane native’s usual demeanor and poise in public appearances. A recent example is his stint on The Kelly Clarkson Show, on which he praised Eminem for teaching him an American accent. Hopefully this situation finds a conclusion in a way that doesn’t push the drama further. For more news on Jacob Elordi and the entertainment world, check back in with HNHH.

Soulja Boy’s “25 Drop” Has The Fans Stamp Of Approval

Soulja Boy has never been a lyrical wizard or storyteller throughout his career. However, that is not a bad thing. Not every rapper needs to have those qualities to deserve credit for their work. Listeners go to different artists for different things and it helps make music more diverse. What fans go to Soulja Boy for is party bangers and that is what “25 Drop” has the potential to be. Listen To “25 Drop” By Soulja Boy

“Soulja Boy Tell’em” rings throughout the first few seconds and then the beat comes in. It has a vintage video game feeling with what sounds like a xylophone looping in and out of the production. Impressively, Big Draco handles everything on this track and it pays off. The lyrics are not anything new, but again, that is not what he specializes in. “25 Drop” is all gas and it delivers a good time from beginning to end. Fans agree, flooding the music video comments with things like, “I won’t lie, I don’t know what I was expecting but I’m blown away! This s***is hard AF!”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “25 Drop,” by Soulja Boy? Do you think this is one of his better tracks as of late? Is this the best song from Swag 6, why or why not? JAY-Z Calls Out Grammys For Beyonce’s Lack Of Album Of The Year Wins

JAY-Z criticized the Recording Academy while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday night. In doing so, he complained about Beyonce being the most decorated artist in Grammy history yet never winning Album of the Year. Taking the stage, he brought his daughter, Blue Ivy, with him.

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year,” he said. “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”

JAY continued: “Obviously, it’s subjective because it’s music. It’s opinion-based. Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed– some of you don’t belong in the category. When I get nervous, I tell the truth. But outside of that, we gotta keep showing up. Forget the Grammys for a second, just in life. Just in life, you gotta keep showing up. You gotta just keep showing up until they give you those accolades you feel you deserve until they call you chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time. You feel me? Thank you.” Beyonce has competed for Album of the Year six times throughout her career but has never won. Check out JAY-Z’s full acceptance speech below.

Remembering Carl Weathers: His Most Iconic Films

Carl Weathers tragically passed away last week at the age of 76. The NFL linebacker turned prolific actor appeared in nearly 100 esteemed on-screen projects, including a wide array of action, comedy, and sci-fi roles. Touching tributes have already begun to pour in from Weathers’ co-stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jesse Ventura, Adam Sandler, and more. As we mourn the loss of this once-in-a-lifetime talent, here’s a look into five of Carl Weathers’ greatest movies from his decades-long career.

5. Rocky (1976)

Rocky is the iconic 1976 film that launched the careers of both Carl Weathers and Sylvester Stallone. While each actor had appeared in a handful of smaller roles before Rocky, their front-and-center placement in the franchise-launching film catapulted the stars to A-list status. In the film, Carl Weathers introduces the historic character of Apollo Creed, a figure still referenced in the ongoing Creed spin-off franchise that revolves around the character’s son.

Apollo Creed serves as the main antagonist in the Oscar-winning movie. The cocky and patriotic World Heavyweight Champion is the perfect larger-than-life opponent for the film’s eponymous underdog to face off against for 15 rounds, resulting in one of the greatest boxing movies ever made. While Sylvester Stallone is the obvious breakout star of the film, Rocky could never have been as groundbreaking as it was without the inclusion of Carl Weathers.

4. Action Jackson (1988)

1988’s Action Jackson sees Carl Weathers taking front-and-center as the title character. Joel Silver, a film producer, approached Weathers about starring in his own Blaxploitation vehicle, leading to the development of the movie. Apparently, Weathers concocted the story outline and character details while shooting Predator in Mexico, and began production on Action Jackson shortly thereafter.

In the film, Carl Weathers stars as a take-no-prisoners Detroit detective, hell-bent on taking down corruption within the Motor City. Critics panned the film, though audiences loved it, resulting in Action Jackson taking home over $20 million at the box office against a paltry budget of only $8 million. Despite critics giving it poor reviews, enthusiasts widely acclaim the film as a cult classic, actively watching and enjoying it to this day.

3. Predator (1987)

When Predator was released in 1987, it wowed audiences with a who’s who of television tough guys in a massive leading ensemble. Arnold Schwarzenegger led the pack, with Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, Carl Weathers, and others rounding out the monster-hunting mercenary squad. In the film, Weathers flexes his spectacular physique, rivaling Schwarzenegger’s biceps in peak form during an arm-wrestling scene now commonly used as a meme to depict unity in the face of contrast.

Carl Weathers has perhaps one of the greatest scenes in the film, wherein his character’s arm is amputated by the Predator hunter after he launches a hail of gunfire on the alien. Weathers’ character and the classic scene are even referenced in the 2015 video game Mortal Kombat X, where both the Predator and Weathers’ character Dillon are playable DLC fighters.

2. Happy Gilmore (1996)

Carl Weathers managed to flex his comedic skills in the 1996 movie Happy Gilmore alongside star Adam Sandler. In the film, Weathers appears as Derick “Chubbs” Peterson, a retired professional golfer who can no longer play the sport after losing his hand to a wild alligator. After witnessing the title character’s impressive slap shot, Chubbs offers to become his mentor, teaching him the basics of golf with the repeated mantra “It’s all in the hips.”

Carl Weathers reprised this role in another Adam Sandler movie titled Little Nicky, showcasing just how impactful the character of Chubbs truly was. In Little Nicky, Chubbs plays a new role as a mambo instructor, retaining his iconic phrase, as mambo is also “all in the hips.” While Weathers’ roles were primarily action thrillers and high-intensity dramas, his comedy resume also showcases some of his finest work.

1. Rocky III (1982)

Carl Weathers reprises his role as Apollo Creed in the third installment of the Rocky franchise as a friend and mentor to the titular boxer. Though Creed made a fantastic antagonist in the first two films, his relationship with Rocky Balboa truly begins to shine through in Rocky III, when Rocky seeks the former Heavy Weight Champion’s guidance to take down his biggest and baddest opponent yet. Rocky III ends on the classic image of Rocky and Creed sparring in a friendly one-on-one fight with no cameras or audience, engaging in the ring as brothers, rather than true opponents.

This final friendly brawl was referenced in the first Creed film, with Rocky expressing to Apollo’s son how much admiration he had for his father. In the film, Rocky says that Creed won their final match, though it is left unclear whether this is true. Regardless, the development of the friendship between the iconic fictional boxers serves as the greatest element of any of the Rocky films, headed by Carl Weathers’ exceptional dramatic ability.

Slim Jxmmi Accuses Baby Mother Of Domestic Violence, Leads To Arrest

Slim Jxmmi recently ran into some relationship trouble this past January that hopefully has gotten better since, although that’s unconfirmed. Moreover, TMZ reports that law enforcement responded to a call at his Doral, Florida home on January 22 for a domestic disturbance, according to a police report of the incident. There, the Rae Sremmurd rapper told officials that the mother of his child, Kiara Danielson punched him in the face during a fiery disagreement. Apparently, it started as a spat over social media activity that had him beckoning her to leave the house. When Danielson refused, the Mississippi MC tossed her belongings out of the home, and that’s when she allegedly attacked him three times.

However, her side of the story, according to the police report, is that she tried to film Slim Jxmmi during this fight. When he reached for it, Kiara Danielson allegedly grazed his eye, and she accused him of grabbing her during the tussle. While the “Kilo” artist had a scratch on his face, his baby mama had no visible injuries. As such, police concluded that she instigated the altercation, and arrested her for domestic violence.

Apparently, this all went down just a day after they had another big fight at Kiara Danielson’s Miami apartment. For this, TMZ obtained footage of Slim Jxmmi packing his bags at her place and taking all his stuff, so something likely remained tense leading into the following day. Not only that, but this follows an incident from almost two years ago in which Danielson accused him of domestic violence, as well. Things seemingly patched up between them at least a little bit in the aftermath, and it’s sad to see patterns revert like this.

Meanwhile, there’s also the Sremm 4 Life‘s star’s ex Kee to consider, who also accused him of abuse. Over the past few years, these instances tell a pretty dark story when all put into context. But it seems like things might pick up for him after this altercation, something that everyone involved should learn from and grow past. On that note, stick around on HNHH for more news on Slim Jxmmi and Rae Sremmurd.
