Benzino Reflects On Jay-Z & Dame Dash Angrily Pulling Up To “The Source” HQ: Video

Arguably one of the saddest stories in hip-hop history is the downfall of Benzino at The Source. The 58-year-old no longer holds his post on the publication’s masthead. Still, he remains a celebrated figure in pop culture history – though he has faced his share of disrespect from the industry and beyond. For his most recent interview, Zino joined the We In Miami podcast to chat about his tenure working at the outlet. At the time, he was raking in some serious dough.

“In our peak we was making a couple of million dollars a month, cash,” the Boston native told the show’s host. “At one point, I had more money than Jay-Z, Diddy, everyone in New York,” Benzino recalled. When he was asked about any troubling experiences with artists at The Source, Hov immediately came to mind. “This one time, Jay and Dame [Dash] was complaining about a cover situation, and they came up to ‘The Source’ on some rah-rah s**t,” his story began.

Benzino said that he had “ni**as strapped up in different rooms,” which his angry guests weren’t aware of. “Sure enough, it starts getting loud. Ni**as start coming out them rooms, and they had to get up out of there. There was a few of them, I think maybe three or four. But there was at least seven of guns up in ‘The Source,’” the embattled media mogul admitted.

Aside from reflecting on the days he spent running things at The Source, Benzino also spoke candidly about his relationship with his daughter, Coi Leray, on the We In Miami podcast. At the time, he was overwhelmed with emotion while talking about the “dead-beat dad” comments he’s seen online over the years. Rick Ross Proclaims He Can Release An Album In Two Days

For well over a decade, Maybach Music Group head Rick Ross has had a prolific music catalog. On Spotify, he boasts 10 projects and five deluxe versions, along with countless singles. Furthermore, he has certified classics under his belt such as “Aston Martin Music,” “Hustlin,’” and so many others. So, it came as no surprise during a recent interview, that Ross said he can get out a new album in 48 hours.

This bold claim was made during a recent interview broadcast by Amazon Music through a Twitch live stream. Ross was asked to decide between two of his earliest and most important releases, Rich Forever (2012) and his EP Albert Anastasia (2010). For him, it was an easy choice, stating that Albert Anastasia essentially laid the foundation for who he is as an artist. “That’s when dudes was understanding how I can play with my words and how easy it was.” He continues, “I could go in there and put an album together in 48 hours.”

Self-confidence is nothing new for Ricky Rozay. It is arguably one of the largest reasons why he is so successful in the hip-hop genre. However, this recent statement is just one of a few he has dished out over the past month or so. An example of this is Ross and the host of the “Breakfast Club” DJ Envy, continuing to feud online. Back in May, he took a distasteful shot at Envy’s wife, offering a “one-time opportunity.” Ross went to Instagram Live to promote this “job opening” and let’s just say it was suggestive.

“It’s the Biggest Boss.” He goes on, “I’m providing jobs. DJ Envy-ous, I got a job for your girlfriend. My pickleball paddle polisher! You hear me? Jennifer Lopez Celebrates Her Birthday By Dancing On A Table

Last week Jennifer Lopez had her 54th birthday, but the actual celebrations are still ongoing. Over the weekend she threw a party with close friends and family to celebrate. According to TMZ, the party took place in the $60 million mansion that she and Ben Affleck bought earlier this year. In a new video that made its way to the internet, J-Lo is totally feeling herself. She can be seen dancing on a table to the sounds of Lizzo’s 2022 smash hit “About Damn Time.”

The first taste we got of Jennifer Lopez’s birthday celebrations came from her own Instagram. She posted some of her own table dancing pics as well as some incredible bikini looks.  “Birthday mood…all month!! Always a good day when Lola comes to play… #OnTheJLo: Birthday Edition coming soon,” the caption of the post read. Fans were pretty quick to praise the singer and actress and wish her happy birthday. The post has already collected over 1.5 million likes and is full of positive comments.

But the post wasn’t all love. Many comments on almost anything J-Lo puts out on her social media page have to do with her alcohol brand. Many fans have taken issue with her decision to put her name behind a line of spritzers for two reasons. The first is that she has long had the public facing image of a sober celebrity and many were surprised to find out that she drinks at all. The bigger reason is Ben Affleck’s history with alcoholism. The backlash got so heated that J-Lo eventually had to address it herself and defend her decision in an Instagram post.

Earlier this year J-Lo expanded her acting horizons by taking on the lead part in an action film. The Netflix-produced action movie The Mother starred Lopez and went on to achieve impressive success. Drake & 21 Savage Cancel Memphis Concert: “Logistically Impossible”

Drake and 21 Savage have canceled their upcoming concert at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. In a statement from a representative for Drake, the rapper’s team explains that it would’ve been “logistically impossible” to put on the show at the venue.

“Due to the magnitude of the production of the Drake concert, it is logistically impossible to bring the show as designed to the FedExForum on August 6th,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, the show is canceled.” Ticketmaster also updated its page for the concert with the message: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

News of Drake’s canceled concert comes as he prepares for the release of his next studio album, For All The Dogs. At an It’s All a Blur Tour show in New York City, Drake teased that the project will be dropping in just a few short weeks. “Make new friends. If you drink, drink some liquor. If you smoke, smoke some weed. And if you like somebody, like my dad says, keep fucking,” Drake said on stage. “I will be back soon. I have an album dropping for you in, like, two weeks or some shit. But until then, just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you. Everything I do is for you. Every time I step in that booth, I hope I make you proud.”

Drake announced the new album in conjunction with the release of his recent book of poetry, Titles Ruin Everything. Drake will continue performing on the It’s All A Blur tour throughout the United States and Canada through October. His next show is Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philidelphia. It’s his second night in the city. On Monday, he brought out Meek Mill for a hometown appearance.

Air Jordan 5 “Sail” Gets New Details

One of the best sneakers to come out of Nike in the 90s would have to be the Air Jordan 5. Overall, this is a sneaker that started off the 90s. Released in 1990, it was the last shoe that dropped before Michael Jordan started winning NBA titles. Moreover, it is a shoe that got hit with plenty of pop culture references. As a result, it still gets a ton of love from fans. To this day, the shoe is still getting some new colorways, and that is absolutely something to celebrate.

As you have probably noticed, 2023 has been a great year for this shoe so far. There have been a ton of colorways that have been released and in the coming weeks, more are on the horizon. Although, it seems like a lot of cool colorways will be dropping in 2024, as well. While it might be too early to even think about next year, the teasers are already here. For instance, @zsneakerheadz has blessed us with a fresh look at a new Air Jordan 5 simply called “Sail.”

Just like any other “Sail” model, you can expect a lot of beige to be found here. The upper is covered in premium light beige materials, all while the midsole is black with a beige shark tooth graphic. We get a gum outsole here which adds a bit of an aged look to the shoes. That said, it is an agreeable aesthetic that will make these work all year long.

For now, a release date for this shoe has not yet been confirmed. However, it is known that the sneaker will likely be released next year during the summer months. Meek Mill Says Rappers Are Paid More To Sound Ignorant

Meek Mill has long been an advocate for progressive social change and criminal justice reform. Over the weekend he teamed up with the Governor of Illinois to pass a new piece of legislation aimed at reform. The law targeted non-criminal technicalities that can cause those on parole to be returned to prison without committing any additional crimes. Meek spoke glowingly of the opportunity to contribute to such significant progress. “That’s a milestone in my life. When I started making music, I was just trying to get out of the ghetto and my environment. But to be a part of something that changes bills and laws that actually affect me and my people, it’s my legacy,” the rapper said.

Recently, Meek Mill also spoke at an NAACP event on a panel of those discussing various issues. When given the opportunity he discussed the difference between being on a stage like that and being on stage as a rapper. During the discussion, he mentions the subject matter he has often rapped about. He specifically cites the fact that rappers are often paid more the more they rap about ignorant subject matter. He concludes the though by saying “The things that fund us, don’t power me forward.” Fans in the comments agreed. “Jay-Z said it on Moment of Clarity – I dumb down for my audience and double my dollars They criticize me for it, yet they all yell “holla” If skills sold, truth be told, l’d probably be lyrically Talib Kweli,” reads one of the top comments.

Over the weekend Meek Mill made a surprise appearance at Gillie Fest. The festival was put up to honor Gillie Da Kid’s son after his tragic passing last month. After performing, Meek teamed up with G Hero and Sauce Walka for a surprise cypher. The clip made the rounds on the internet impressing fans in the days following.

YNW Melly Jury: One Woman’s Hesitation To Convict Reportedly Lead To Mistrial

After watching endless chaos unfold during YNW Melly’s double murder trial earlier this summer, the Florida native was surprisingly granted a mistrial. His attorneys attempted to motion for one earlier on in proceedings and were ultimately denied. However, the jury’s failure to come to a consensus led the presiding judge to rule in Melly’s favour. Of course, this doesn’t mean he’s walking free. Rather, prosecutors will be re-trying the case again in the fall. An October court date was already set at the end of July.

Many who have been keeping up with the trial are curious as to know exactly what happened with the jury behind closed doors. Thankfully, Local 10 News finally has some answers. According to them, the majority of members were on board with convicting Melly. However, one woman in particular held her ground on defending the accused killer. “From day one, she had issues with the foreperson selected, at one point crossing her arms and saying she was ‘Done!’” another juror recalled to the outlet.

“When another juror asked to not shut down and set her feelings aside, she exploded… She was explosive, manipulative, she was rude, she yelled insults at anyone who had a different opinion,” they further noted. Elsewhere, the anonymous source claimed the same woman was there specifically “to cause chaos.” The next group of jurors selected to hold Melly’s fate in their hands will obviously be different, though it’s possible we could see the same final outcome take place later this year.

Throughout the first YNW Melly trial, his mother, Jamie King, made frequent headlines for her comments on social media. In the midst of proceedings, she claimed that the stress she’s experienced while watching her son potentially face the death penalty gave her a heart attack. Air Jordan 5 “Burgundy” Officially Unveiled

Overall, the Air Jordan 5 has proven to be one of the best staples of 90s sneaker culture. Although it may not be the most beloved Jordan ever created, it certainly ranks up there. Mostly, this is because the shoe kicked off the 90s for Jumpman. Moreover, it is a shoe that has had plenty of pop culture crossovers thanks to shows like The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Throughout 2023, the Air Jordan 5 has proven to be a huge sneaker. There have been some great colorways thus far, and fans have taken notice. Firstly, you can see how a gorgeous shade of burgundy is found all throughout the upper. Secondly, there is some nice silver 3M found on the tongue. This reflective nature is very cool and works very well with the burgundy. Overall, it is a shoe that a lot of fans remember, and they are going to enjoy this look. Even in 2023, this still feels fresh.
