$uicideboy$ Deliver “Sing Me A Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation” Album

Aside from Beyoncé’s and Wiz Khalifa’s new albums, another hot new arrival to hit DSPs this New Music Friday comes via New Orleans rap duo, $uicideboy$. Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation is the group’s third studio album, and it’s some of their most upbeat work to date.

“In the past, a lot of the music was about heroin, oxy, hating your life, and wanting to kill yourself,” Rudy da Cherry shared in an interview. “You think achieving your dreams will solve every problem in your life, but it doesn’t. The problems that were there don’t go away. We’ve learned a lot. This album is more positive than anything we’ve ever done before.”

The duo’s other half, $crim, added, “The message is, ‘As hard as life gets, which you know it does, don’t ever give up. We hope we can serve as examples because we don’t come from shit.”

“On tour, I would grab the mic and say, ‘Hey dude, I’m a drug addict. I was suicidal. I was a couple of months away from death, and it’s the same with Ruby. We’re here to tell you life does not have to be like that. There is another way to live.’ Nobody ever said that to me, but I’m going to say it. We can show people there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Kenan Thompson Addresses Rumors That “SNL” Will End After 50th Anniversary

The first episode of Saturday Night Live aired in October 1975, making it one of the longest-running shows in television history. We’ve seen dozens of its cast members go from niche comedy circuits to mainstream fame, but there have been rumors that as SNL‘s 50th anniversary approaches in a few years, its cancelation is inevitable. There has also been gossip about the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, retiring from his position as executive producer during the 2024-25 season, and according to Kenan Thompson, that might be a good look.

Thompson is approaching his whopping 20th season with the cast, making him the longest-running cast member in the history of SNL. He recently caught up with Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God where he was asked about the rumors regarding the end of SNL.

When Charlamagne brought up the rumor, Thompson joked that he needed to “start planning” if he was going to be out of a job.

“There could be a lot of validity to that rumor because fifty is a good number to stop at. That’s an incredible package. He will be, probably, close to 80 years old at that point, and you know, he’s the one who’s had his touch on the whole thing, so, if somebody tries to come into his shoes, it’s also a good way for NBC to save money as well. They may slash the budget and then at that point, you can’t do the same kind of show.”

“It’s unfair to watch it just, really go down in flames like, for real, for real,” Thompson added. Watch a clip of Kenan Thompson with Charlamagne Tha God below.

Ex-NFL Star Kevin Ware Indicted For Murder Of Girlfriend Taylor Pomaski: Report

Investigators believe they know what happened to Taylor Pomaski and they have charged her boyfriend with her murder. In April 2021, 29-year-old Pomaski reportedly hosted a party at her Houston suburb home and then disappeared. She was classified as a missing person for just about seven months before her remains were located in Harris County in December 2021. It wasn’t until May of this year that it was confirmed that those remains belonged to Pomaski.

Just days before Pomaski went missing, her boyfriend, ex-NFL star Kevin Ware, had reportedly been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance as well as possession of a firearm. He was said to have posted bond and was released.

According to CBS News, yesterday (July 28), the 41-year-old former professional sports figure was reportedly indicted “on murder and tampering charges.” The latter is in connection with “tampering with evidence, specifically a corpse,” prosecutors stated.

Ware has reportedly been arrested and remains incarcerated at this time on the murder-related charges as well as those possession counts.

“We appreciate everyone who has come forward to provide evidence and aid in our investigation,” Lacy Johnson, the Harris County prosecutor, reportedly stated. “Although this investigation has been going on since Taylor’s disappearance in 2021, the court process is just beginning, and we encourage anyone who has knowledge about what happened between Kevin and Taylor to come forward.”

The Alchemist & Roc Marciano Will Deliver “The Elephant Man’s Bones” Album This August

August hasn’t even begun yet, but it’s already shaping up to be a great month for hip-hop lovers. Earlier today (July 29) The Alchemist announced via Twitter that his latest project will be dropping next month, boasting 14 tracks that the producer crafted alongside New York spitter Roc Marciano.

The project has been titled The Elephant Man’s Bones and is due out on the 26th of August. Along with the announcement and the release date, Alc also unveiled the cover art as well as the tracklist.

Fans will be happy to hear that features will be coming from Action Bronson, Boldy James, Knowledge The Pirate, and Ice-T on songs like “Daddy Kane,” “Trillion Cut,” The Horns of Abraxas,” and “Zip Guns,” and even happier to hear that The Alchemist is feeling very confident about his impending arrival.

“I think this is the best shit we ever did,” he tweeted after sharing the exciting news. “Can’t wait for you to hear it.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Roc and Alc team up for a full-length project. Over a decade ago, they worked on the Greneberg EP alongside Madlib’s brother (and Al Gangarene’s partner) Oh No.

Since then, the duo has collaborated on other Marciano albums like ReloadedThe Pimpire Strikes Back, and Behold a Dark Horse – not to mention the countless Alchemist albums they’ve teamed up for.

As HipHopDX notes, 2018 saw them drop four singles together, and during a sit-down with Complex late last year, it was revealed that another joint album between the two has been in the works since 2020’s Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs wrapped up.

“First, I called Roc Marci, and I told him, ‘There’s nobody I’d rather do a whole album with than you after this,” The Alchemist shared at the time. “And we started work on a record that’s coming soon.”

Sesame Place Slammed With $25M Class Action Lawsuit For Alleged Racism

As more and more Black parents have come forward with stories of disappointing experiences at Philadelphia’s Sesame Place, many figured it would only be a matter of time before the theme park was hit with a lawsuit.

On Thursday (July 28), TMZ reported that a class action case has officially been filed for $25 million against Sesame Place, claiming that the venue and its employees have “insulted and damaged Black patrons,” particularly the younger guests.

It’s been noted that a man named Quinton Burns is specifically listed in the lawsuit after visiting the park with his family on June 18th of this year. According to him, Burns purchased tickets to the park for himself and his young daughter under the expectation that they’d receive a “meet and greet” experience.

While getting up close and personal with characters like Elmo, Ernie, Telly Monster, and Abby Cadabby, though, the Burns’ daughter and other Black attendees were reportedly ignored.

At the same time, it was allegedly evident that the performers were “more than happy” to engage with white guests attending the same event.

The lawsuit follows a video that surfaced online earlier this month showing Rosita refusing to hug and shaking her head “no” at two little Black girls standing on the sidelines of a Sesame Place parade.

TMZ is said to have spoken with the mother of these children and their family attorney and has confirmed that they’ve been in talks with the park to make the situation right.

A rep for Sesame Place said, “We will review the lawsuit filed on behalf of Mr. Burns. We look forward to addressing that claim through the established legal process. We are committed to [delivering] an inclusive, equitable and entertaining experience for all our guests.”

Boxer Ryan Garcia Calls Jack Harlow The Next Kanye West

Jack Harlow

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, no matter how outlandish it might be, and some opinions are better than others.

Now it’s no secret that Jack Harlow has had an amazing year, dropping one of the years biggest albums (so far), having a chart topping single, getting a Drake feature, and even his own meal at KFC. Harlow’s success so early in his career has led many to believe that he will become the next rap superstar. Apparently boxer Ryan Garcia thinks so, and thinks his success will be Yeezy level.

Garcia took to Twitter where he told his followers that “Harlow the new Kanye.”

Garcia was then flamed in the comments section for his take, with many people bringing up the lackluster writing that Harlow was criticized for in his latest album.

Ryan saw himself getting flamed in the comments and defended his statement, saying that Harlow reminds him of a younger Kanye in that they both have catchy bars.

Garcia then went on to quote one of Harlows lyrics in a follow up tweet, saying “You dont need Givenchy, you need Jesus.”

While people might not agree with Garcia’s take, Kanye himself has co-signed the Kentucky rapper. In a now deleted Instagram post, Ye talked about Jack Harlow, saying ““This n*gga can raaaaaaap bro And I’m saying n*gga as a compliment Top 5 out right now.” Harlow was also featured on Kanye’s Donda 2, which has only released on the stem player website.

Will Smith Speaks On Chris Rock Oscar Slap In New Video, “It’s Been A Minute…”

Nearly 4 months after the fact, Will Smith has finally broken his silence on the incident at this year’s Academy Award ceremony.

In a almost 6 minute video posted to his YouTube, Smith talks at length about the incident and answers questions that many people have been asking since the slap.

Smith first answered why he did not mention or apologize to Chris during his Best Actor acceptance speech. Smith said that after the slap everything was “fuzzy.”

“Um, I was fogged out by that point,” Smith said. “It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

He also apologized to Chris’s mom, referencing a recent interview where she said that the King Richard actor, “slapped all of us.” He also brought up Tony Rock, who has been very vocal about his disdain for Smith following the incident. Smith said that he and Tony were good friends before the slap, and admits that he and Tony’s relationship is “irrepairable.”

Smith said that he has made some realizations in the months after the incident, admitting that he does not think he should have gone about handling the situation like that.

“There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment,” he said. “There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect, or insults.”

He also answered the question as to whether Jada said something to him after Chris made the joke and she rolled her eyes, to which Smith said she did not. “I made a choice on my own from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it,” Will said.

After that, Smith went on to apologize to his wife and kids, and the fellow nominees and winners that night at the Academy Awards. He realizes that he had “stolen and tarnished” that moment, specifically mentioning Questlove’s reaction to the slap.

Smith closed out the video with a message to people who looked up to him and felt “left down” by his actions. He said that dissapointng people is his “central trauma” and doing such results in physical and emotional pain.

“Disappointing people is my central trauma,” Smith said. “I hate when I let people down, so it hurts, it hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I didn’t live up to people’s image and impression of me, and the work I’m trying to do is, I am deeply remorseful and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself, right? I’m human and I made a mistake and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of shit. So I would say to those people, I know it was confusing, I know it was shocking. But I promise you, I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light and love and joy into the world. And if you hang on, I promise we’ll be able to be friends again.”
