Lil Meech Taunts Michael Rainey Jr. With 50 Cent’s Help

At this point, we might need to throw Lil Meech and Michael Rainey Jr. in the boxing ring together so they could settle their differences once and for all. Their playful feud has been brought over to Instagram following the success of both Power Book II: Ghost and BMF. As the two shows battle it out for supremacy in the #1 spot on Starz, the two actors have been jokingly attacking one another on social media and 50 Cent, the executive producer of both series, is hyping up their jabs.

Last week, we saw an entire back-and-forth ensue between the two rising entertainment stars and it seems as though they’ve picked things back up. After 50 Cent shared a clip from a recent episode of Ghost, Lil Meech quickly arrived in the comments to taunt Michael Rainey Jr.

“U scared?” wrote the BMF representative on Instagram, tagging Michael.

“What’s going on @lilmeechbmf said @michaelraineyjr scared,” reacted Fiddy. “Why would he say some shit like that? I don’t know i’m not in it!”

This comes after nearly a dozen posts were made last week from 50, Michael, and Lil Meech about the television feud.

If you’re a fan of both Power Book II: Ghost and BMF, have you been enjoying one show more than the other? Let us know in the comments.

Shelley FKA DRAM & Westside Boogie Collide For An Unforgettable LVRN Experience At Red Bull SoundClash

For the first time in a decade, Red Bull SoundClash has returned to the United States, and on November 30, the traveling event kicked off its American homecoming with a packed-out show in Atlanta, Georgia, starring two artists from iconic independent record label and management company Love Renaissance (LVRN): Shelley FKA DRAM and Westside Boogie.

Held at Atlanta’s newest concert venue, The Eastern, and hosted by Pandora’s Senior Director of Hip-Hop Joshua “J1” Raiford, Red Bull’s Atlanta SoundClash did not disappoint. Over the course of four rounds, Shelley — who is still riding the high from his outstanding eponymous LP released earlier this year — and Westside Boogie — the Shady Records signee who is holding onto his extremely anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Everythings For Sale — went head-to-head, and their friendly competition made for an exceptionally entertaining concert experience.

When explaining how Red Bull SoundClash works, it’s easy to draw similarities between Red Bull’s SoundClash events and Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s sensational Verzuz live streams, but that would be an overly simplified comparison. On the surface level, two artists do face off in a one-on-one competition, but rather than a straightforward hit-for-hit battle, SoundClash gives participating acts the opportunity to push the limits of their creativity by performing live covers, remixing each other’s tracks, and changing the sonic makeup of some of their most popular songs. Thus, Red Bull SoundClash is able to yield raw, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and Westside Boogie and Shelley FKA DRAM’s showdown in Atlanta on Tuesday night was a prime example of that.

After warming up the crowd with brief, spirited performances of their fan-favorite cuts, the artists entered Round 1, “The Cover.” Both Shelley and Boogie were tasked with covering OutKast’s classic Speakerboxxx/The Love Below track “Roses,” and while the round concluded with the LVRN artists quibbling over the Compton-born artist’s “karaoke”-esque take on the Atlanta rap standard, it was clear that Shelley’s soulful cover undoubtedly won the crowd over in the first round.

The next two rounds saw the artists return to performing their own material, but with a twist. In “The Takeover” round, one of the artists would start up one of their original tracks before handing it off to their competitor, and that resulted in Westside Boogie delivering a fiery verse over Shelley’s septuple-platinum-certified hit “Broccoli” as well as Shelley powering through a scene-stealing performance over Boogie’s “Skydive.” Things got really interesting, however, during the third round, known as “The Clash.” Instructed to perform three of their songs in “comfort zone-stretching styles,” the artists executed special live renditions that saw them leaning heavily into styles like dancehall and chopped-and-screwed. Yet while that round truly showed how creative each of the artists could get, the climax of the night arrived during the fourth round, “The Wildcard.”

Described by Red Bull as a round where “almost anything is fair game,” the final round saw both Westside Boogie and Shelley FKA DRAM utilizing every weapon in their arsenal, from huge cameos from beloved Atlanta artists to electric performances of their biggest hits. For Shelley’s special guest, he opted to bring out the sensational rising femcee, Baby Tate, and the Warner Records artist was showered with love while she performed her viral hit “I Am.” In one of his most tactical moves of the entire competition, Boogie claimed victory in the fourth round by welcoming his LVRN collaborator 6lack onstage to perform his breakout single “Prblms.”

After an hour and a half of great live music, never-before-heard remixes, surprise guests, and comical back-and-forths between the LVRN artists, neither Westside Boogie nor Shelley FKA DRAM was crowned the ultimate victor of this year’s Atlanta Red Bull SoundClash, but attendees were sent off with amazing news from both artists. Shelley FKA revealed that fans could expect a Christmas song from him in the coming weeks, and on an even more exciting note, Boogie assured fans that his sophomore album will arrive during the first quarter of 2022. The Red Bull SoundClash in Atlanta gave audience members an incredible show, an opportunity to celebrate both of the LVRN artists in an unforgettable way, and a much-needed update on Westside Boogie’s album, so with everything considered, the audience members were the real winners.

Soulja originally claimed that Youngboy had DM’d him, messages he’d later shared publically, on the Off The Record podcast in October.

“Youngboy, this n***a DM’d me [in] 2016, ‘I’m from Baton Rouge, I’m 16. I’m trying to make it…’ And I DM’d the n***a back. I’m like, ‘Wassup?’ And he hit me back like ‘Wassup?’ But I didn’t see the wassup until a month. He was signed,” Soulja Boy explained. “I could’ve signed NBA Youngboy but n***as don’t knowin’ shit like that.”

Juice WRLD’s Mother Shares Touching Birthday Letter To Her Son

Just a few days after turning 21-years-old, Chicago rapper Juice WRLD suffered an accidental drug overdose while traveling back to his hometown, which ended up taking his life. The world-renowned artist has been gone for the last couple of years but his music and artistic legacy have not been forgotten by his fans, who are anxiously looking forward to his upcoming posthumous album and documentary release.

This Thursday marks what would have been Juice WRLD’s twenty-third birthday, and as his mother, Carmella Wallace, continues to mourn, she has shared a birthday letter for her child, which you can read below:

“Dear Jarad,

When you were born 23 years ago, I never expected that you would not to be here today celebrating your birthday. Although it has been nearly two years since you’ve been gone, I still think about you every day and losing you has changed my life forever. I’m glad that we always made sure that we said goodbye when we left each other because we didn’t know when we would see each other again.

If you were here, I am sure that I would have said something like how it seemed like just yesterday that you were born. I know that I would have told you how proud I was of the man you became and your commitment to changing lives.  I miss celebrating your birthday and all the good times that we shared. I have so many wonderful memories of you that will live in my heart forever.

I remember when you found your birthday gift the year that you turned nine. It was a white mp3 player that I hid in my closet.   When you found it, you were too excited to hide the fact that you found it and proceeded to share with me how much you wanted a white mp3 player for your birthday. I thought about taking it back to the store and surprising you with something else, but I decided to give it to you anyway. As time passed and we talked about it, you realized that you would rather wait for the surprise than find your gifts early.

You and I would have reminisced about previous birthdays and I’m sure we would have laughed once again about the mp3 player. I would have tried to get as many birthday wishes in as possible like I always did on your birthday when we were together.

You touched the world through your music with honesty and transparency. You shared a message of healing and sincerely desired to make a difference in the lives of others. I still receive messages from fans saying how your music helped them with anxiety and depression. I promise to continue your message of healing and use Live Free 999 as an avenue to normalize the conversation around mental health and substance dependency and help those who suffer in silence.

Happy 23rd Birthday Jarad, I love you dearly. I’m thankful for the time that we had and will forever cherish every moment that we shared.

Love,

Mom”

The Weeknd Wins Global Artist Of The Year At Apple Music Awards

Apple has named The Weeknd as their Global Artist of the Year for the 2021 Apple Music Awards. The winners for Apple’s third annual awards show were announced on Wednesday.

“I’m so grateful for this huge honour and want to thank Apple for all its support, not only for my work but also for great music by newer artists, where it matters so much for creators to be found and supported,” The Weeknd said of his win.

The Weeknd’s latest album, After Hours, debuted as his fourth number-one album in the US in March 2020. The project features several of the singer’s biggest hits, including “Blinding Lights,” which was recently named Billboard’s No. 1 Hot 100 song of all time.

The Weeknd recently discussed his next project, The Dawn, during an interview with Billboard.

“Picture the album being like the listener is dead,” he told the outlet. “And they’re stuck in this purgatory state, which I always imagined would be like being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. And while you’re stuck in traffic, they got a radio station playing in the car, with a radio host guiding you to the light and helping you transition to the other side. So it could feel celebratory, could feel bleak, however you want to make it feel, but that’s what The Dawn is for me.”

Jay-Z has curated a new playlist for his streaming platform, Tidal, featuring several underground rappers. Among the selections for his “Block Vibes” playlist include MF DOOM, Mach-Hommy, The Alchemist, and more.

Curating playlists has become a favorite hobby for Jay, who has released dozens of playlists since Tidal launched in 2015.

Earlier this year, he bragged during a Twitter Spaces conference: “I’ve found so many songs, my playlist game is A++. I challenge anyone out there … I’m definitely in the top-tier of playlist creators.”

As for why the playlist is titled “Block Vibes,” Tidal’s parent company, Square, Inc, announced its changing its name to Block on Wednesday. The company was founded by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Jay also serves on Square’s board of directors.

“The change to Block acknowledges the company’s growth,” the company said in a press release. “Since its start in 2009, the company has added Cash App, TIDAL and TBD54566975 as businesses, and the name change creates room for further growth. Block is an overarching ecosystem of many businesses united by their purpose of economic empowerment, and serves many people—individuals, artists, fans, developers, and sellers.”

“Astroworld: Concert From Hell” Hulu Documentary Sparks Social Media Outrage

It was inevitable that there would be several documentaries made about the tragedy at Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, which left ten people dead and hundreds more injured. As news spreads that multiple families affected by the tragedy have declined Travis Scott’s offer to pay for their childrens’ funerals, outrage has started to break out on social media regarding a documentary that was uploaded to Hulu on Wednesday night about the festival’s tragedy just three weeks after it happened.

The documentary, titled Astroworld: Concert From Hell, was originally hosted by ABC. It was uploaded to Hulu, causing an uproar on social media as some deceased concertgoers still have yet to be buried.

“Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival was supposed to be the concert of a lifetime,” reads the doc’s synopsis. “But it turned into a tragic nightmare. A minute-by-minute look at what happened in the crowd, the young victims who were killed, and what happens next.”

“Hulu making a documentary about Astroworld is in poor taste all around,” said one person on Twitter, which was “liked” by over 11,000 people. “People are still burying their loved ones. The legal cases haven’t even started. Great documentaries are done when all the facts are laid out. Not enough time has passed to fully discuss this.”

The fifty-minute report on Astroworld is comprised of interviews, videos from the concert, and more footage that aired on ABC in the network’s coverage of the tragedy.

Some Hulu users are reporting that the documentary was removed from the platform following the outrage, and it is presently unclear if it will be added back in the future.

Take a look at some tweets about it below.

Blueface Explains Why He Gave Chrisean Rock The Boot: “Outta Hand”

He has stayed silent through the drama this week, but now Blueface is stepping forward with his version of events. Chrisean Rock has been Blueface’s artist for some time but it has been made clear that they are no longer working with one another. Earlier this week, video footage circulated online showing Blueface and Wack 100 attempting to kick her out of the rapper’s home and since that time, Chrisean has continuously resurfaced with posts about the incident, as well as Blueface.

“She was gettin’ a little too outta hand for me,” Blueface said in a video. “The work ethic wasn’t there enough for me to cope with her crazy life decisions and what she think.” Blueface added that he was filming at his home but Chrisean was not living there the entire time.

He claimed that he arranged for her to live somewhere else but she would continue to come to his place. While there, she would want to “jump in the pool” but he said he reminded her that they had business to handle. He added that he told Chrisean he was filming at the house and told her to leave but when she got back to her place, she broke windows, causing the police to be called to that location.

“She made the spot I had her at hot,” said the rapper. When he ended the business relationship, he was once again at home with the camera crew, however this time, Blueface said Chrisean came in and caused a disruption.
