In a busy day of hip-hop news, easily one of the biggest headlines was rapper YFN Lucci’s massive arrest update. After getting handed down charges for murder, gang, and racketeering charges in 2021, Lucci pleaded guilty to one count of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. All of the accumulated to 10 years in prison on top of an additional decade-long probation. However, Michael Seiden of WSB TV tweeted that only three and half months will be spent behind bars.

The rest of YFN Lucci’s sentence will be served by being on parole most likely. While that is some positive news for the indicted artist, it may be something for a former lover to keep an eye on. Lucci was formerly tied up with Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter. It was a confusing relationship to follow when it was going on. Naturally, fans are already sending tweets in the direction of Reginae, joking around that she should rekindle things.

On May 8, Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter took to Twitter to share the details of a shocking home invasion. “Two guys tried to break in my home last night. So Glad I wasn’t there 🙏🏾people are sick! This is my sign to get Tf out of here, and to be more private and more to myself about everything,” the musician and reality star tweeted. However, there was yet more to the story. Apparently, Cartner’s boyfriend was home at the time of the robbery. And while he found the time to make a YouTube video about it, he apparently didn’t actually check to make sure Carter was okay.

“When I see so many females bashing me because I go on Instagram and Twitter and I’m filled with emotions, and everybody does it, our generation we grew up on that…but I can’t do it cause I’m Reginae Carter…and if I do it I’m bashing somebody,” Carter said in her tearful video. That’s not the case. I love very hard and I’m very genuine and something really big happened to me and the person who I love did not check on me, but he made a YouTube video, so yes I do feel like that’s a little clout chasing.” Carter and her boyfriend have reportedly since broken up.

YK Osiris Shoots His Shot

Rapper YK Osiris had previously shot his shot for Carter back in 2020, but he saw another opportunity after she said boy bye to the clout-chaser YouTuber. “Awwww I knew I would be the one,” Osiris wrote in an Instagram comment on The Shade Room. WE TV Greenlits Reality Show For Lil Wayne’s Ex And Daughter

Lil Wayne and Toya Johnson were high school sweethearts. They met in 1997 when Wayne was 15 and Johnson was 14. Johnson quickly became pregnant and gave birth to their daughter, Reginae, in November 1998. The couple formally married in 2004 but the marriage only lasted two years. However, the pair remained friends after their separation. Johnson was later married to Memphitz Wright between 2011 and 2016 before marrying Robert Rushing in 2022. Reginae, who took her father’s given surname, is a rapper and actress in her own right. She has 7 million followers on Instagram.

Johnson (now Johnson-Rushing) saw some brief reality show fame with Tiny & Toya (2009-10) and Toya: A Family Affair (2011). However, neither show lasted very long and Johnson focused on her GARB boutiques in New Orleans and Smyma, Georgia. But all that’s about to change as reports indicate Toya is getting a brand new show alongside her daughter.

“Toya And Reginae” Headed To Production

The mother-daughter pair are no strangers to WE TV, which operates as a subsidiary of AMC. They have both previously appeared on Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, a long-running franchise that Toya And Reginae will be a continuation of. The show promises drama from the start, with the official press statement hinting that the show will be an open look at their lives because “as happy as they seem on social media, their lives are unpredictable and full of chaos.” The show will also likely travel across several locations, given the wide-ranging nature of their business.

The show is set to premiere this fall on WE and its sister platform, ALLBLK. Reginae Carter Wants People To Stop Comparing New Rappers To Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne’s mixtape run is unmatched. However, many fans believe artists like Lil Baby and Lil Durk are mirroring what Wayne accomplished in the mid-aughts.

Reginae Carter’s putting an end to these conversations. Weezy’s first-born child shared a message on Twitter slamming anyone who thinks there’s another rapper who could even compare to what the New Orleans rapper’s accomplished in his lifetime.

“‘KEEP MY FATHER’S NAME OUT YA MOUTH,’” she tweeted, along with two laughing emojis. “Nah fr y’all need to stop comparing my dad to the new kids on the block .. gotta stop ! Everybody is super talented and dope ! Let them have their run and time will tell .. but leave that marathon Wayne ran out of it …”

She added, “Since 12 years old… come on man.”

Lil Wayne’s marathon of mixtapes leading to the release of Tha Carter III was undoubtedly a pivotal point in his career. Weezy became a leading voice in rap and a go-to feature for everyone in the game. Though he might not actively release music at the same pace today, Wayne remains one of the most prolific rappers to ever exist.

At the same time, Reginae’s comments come at a time when NBA Youngboy’s pumping out project after project, even more consistently than Lil Wayne. This morning, the Baton Rouge-bred rapper unveiled I Rest My Case, his sixth project since August (not including compilations).

Lil Wayne teased the release of Tha Carter VI last summer during his appearance at OVO Fest’s Young Money reunion. A pre-save link went up shortly after, though he hasn’t provided much of an update since. It seems possible that we could see the album drop at some point in 2023.

Reginae Carter Drags Trolls After Boyfriend Armon Warren Gifted Her A Promise Ring

Reginae Carter and Armon Warren appear to still be going strong after a video of the YouTuber gifting her a promise ring was posted online. Shortly after, Carter clapped back at trolls who had negative comments about the sentimental gift.

In the video clip, Warren asks her to retrieve the ring from the box, saying, “So this is my promise ring to you baby, okay? This is my loyalty, this is my love.”

“This is everything,” the singer added, continuing, “This is me investing my time, everything into you. I only want to be with you. This is my promise.”

Responding to haters who had negative comments, Carter took to her Twitter on Tuesday (Dec. 27) morning to get a few things off of her chest.

“Y’all old a**es mad at my promise ring but been in 10 year relationships with a bunch of broken promises,” she fired back on Twitter. “Get you somebody to take care of your time not waste it aunties.”

Following up with a second tweet, the 24-year-old continued, “But anyways .. back to my amazing morning … Happy Holidays.”

After going public with Warren earlier this year, the Louisiana native opened up about her new relationship in an interview with The Shade Room.

On what Lil Wayne and Toya Wright thought about their daughter’s new boyfriend, Carter revealed, “My mom likes Armon. My dad, he hasn’t really gotten to meet Armon yet.”

“I’m really slow with my dad. Like, I bring people around my dad a little later on, because it’s just that…But I’ve told him about him. I’ve talked to him. He’s liking what he’s hearing.” she continued.

The pair reportedly got their start after attending a blind date recorded for YouTube over the summer, and have been inseparable ever since.
