YoungBoy Never Broke Again Was Arrested (Again) On Gun And Drug Charges In Utah, Where He Was Already On House Arrest

Louisiana rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again (known colloquially as NBA YoungBoy) has been arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and a pattern of unlawful activity, according to Variety. Both are Class 2 felony charges. In addition, he was also charged with procuring or attempting to procure a drug/prescription, identity fraud, forgery, and possession of other controlled substances. YoungBoy — whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden — has been on house arrest in Utah since 2021, awaiting trial on separate charges of possession of two weapons as a felon and distribution and manufacturing of drugs.

No bail was set after his most recent arrest by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, which occurred at around 3:00 pm yesterday.

The arrest is the latest in a long line of run-ins with the law for the 24-year-old rapper, who has become as well known for his legal issues and beefs with other hip-hop personalities as he has for his fan-favorite collaborations with rappers like Tyler The Creator.

His original felony, from which most of his issues appear to stem, was in 2016, when he jumped out of a vehicle and shot at a group of people in Baton Rouge. He pled guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and sentenced to probation.

In July 2022, he was found not guilty of gun possession by a felon after being pulled over in LA with a .45 pistol in his car. In 2019, he pled guilty to battery for a 2018 incident in which he was caught on camera beating his then-girlfriend and dragging her down a hotel hallway. Also in 2019, he was involved in a fatal shootout in Miami.

How Silent House Group Helped Tyler The Creator And Doja Cat Make Coachella Moments To Shout About

The collaborative nature of the music business is critical to its success, but often that collaboration is done in the shadows, outside of the spotlight. The successes are loud; the planning, the building, the making, the doing –- that part can be all too quiet.

Enter Silent House Group.

When Tyler The Creator wants to blast through the side of an RV like a human cannonball to open his headlining set at Coachella, or when Doja Cat needs a life-size T-Rex skeleton to traipse around onstage during her own set a couple of days later, Silent House makes it happen.

While fans may not think much about how and why these things come to life at live shows, that’s all the creative directors at the production company — which was founded in 2010 and has produced shows for everyone from Drake to Taylor Swift — think about. Alex Reardon, — the President of Silent House, creative director on Tyler The Creator’s Coachella set, and inaugural Sound + Vision Award winner for Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw performance — explains how he uses his 20 years of experience in creating live shows to pull all the pieces together to make the rapper’s wildest dreams a reality.

“T comes up with the overall, the 30,000-foot view ideas, and then we riff on things,” he says over Zoom a few days before the explosive Coachella performance. “If we are in this world that he is creating, what would that world look like?” That entails a lot of questions of both entertainment value and feasibility — and, in some cases, safety.

Philip Cosores

“I believe very strongly that a successful production design is not just about aesthetics,” he says. “It’s about aesthetics, logistics, and finance. One of those is fun, and two of them aren’t, but they are all equally important. And all those bars have to be set to exactly the same level.” When those elements are all aligned, the closest thing in the world to magic happens… like flinging Tyler through the air or outfitting him with a literal flamethrower for his Camp Flog Gnaw set a few months ago.

In order to build out a set like Tyler’s, the designers at Silent House first sit with artists and their teams as they spitball about their vision. While that can be highly informed by specificity and attention to detail, like Tyler’s set, it can also mean just getting the artists’ thoughts on what’s going on their lives, as Silent House’s creative director and designer for Doja Cat’s set Parker Genoway says in a separate interview on the same day.

“It all starts with very abstract conversations and a lot of listening,” he elaborates. “I never present anything, even if I am so excited about something and I am like, oh, this is going to be great for her show. I like to sit with her for hours — and Brett [Alan Nelson, Doja Cat’s Creative Director & Stylist] — and just have her download me on where her head is at, and then I start to pick up on certain things, [like] what materials fit into these descriptions that she is talking about.”

With Doja Cat’s set, her inspirations — or preoccupations, maybe — were clear even without knowing the behind-the-scenes process. Having dancers surround her in costumes make of wigs like really jiggy versions of Cousin It from The Addams Family played into fans’ obsession with her recent big chop, while that T-Rex skeleton evoked the titanic proportions reached by the conversation surrounding her bat skeleton tattoo (those dancers, by the way, were choreographed by Parris Goebel, who also coordinates dancers for Rihanna). Rather than telling a story, Doja’s set created a vibe, like a subconscious clash of imagery and ideas in a dream.

Doja Cat
Philip Cosores

“She was always like, ‘I want a dinosaur. I really want a dinosaur,’” Genoway recalls. “And so when we started thinking about, ‘Let us work backwards. What kind of world could this be? Is this prehistoric or is this post-apocalyptic? Has society crumbled?’… I think when I like to create a world, I want layers and I want versatility, and I want to be able to deliver a show that evolves and does not just stay the same the whole time.”

Meanwhile, Tyler’s set plays into an existing world he’s created around his most recent album and his ongoing fascination with nature and the outdoors. For Reardon, making that world seem plausible and real is the key to success. “If the question ‘why’ has been asked and a legitimate answer to ‘why’ has been given, then a big video screen works,” he maintains. “If you’re doing it without intent, there is never a purpose to do anything other than lasers… We add more so it’s believable because you’ve got to sell the thing. Don’t just put a prop there. Make the prop do what the prop would do if it wasn’t a prop.”

Creating these expansive, detailed worlds from scratch can be a time-intensive process, but it’s also one that requires fine-tuned people skills. After all, artists can be both sensitive and fickle. As Reardon says, “Artists may say, ‘I want my stage set to look like an apple.’ And you give them an apple and then they say, ‘I hate apples.’”

Tyler The Creator
Philip Cosores

“The way to mitigate that is by understanding a couple of things. First of all, anything you create, even if it’s for someone else, has your ego in it. And you have to understand the power of the unobserved ego. If you don’t accept that your ego is part of it, you will not be able to mitigate the effects your ego will try and have on you in that design process. And someone who hasn’t observed their ego, who doesn’t understand the power of it, the negative impact it can have will say, ‘But you said you liked apples and you have to have an apple and I’m going to make…’ No. Next idea. Okay. Don’t like apples? How about whatever palm tree? Banana. Go through the fruit bowl.”

Genoway echoes this sentiment. For him, what makes Silent House distinct as a production company is that “we are extremely practical in our designs. We make doable things. So the logistics of things are heavily considered in our initial design conversations. As much as we like to try to keep it very blue sky, we are from day one considering what can and can not happen, what the parameters are, how many trucks we have, how many buses are there, so we know how many crews.”

In describing the process of building the concepts — starting with concept art, which can be sourced from sources like magazines, design books, and even AI art, to decks of renders created with computer-aided design programs to concept models — Genoway says the process can take months, but that things can be done last-minute, as well, depending on when Silent House is contracted to build a set. The most nerve-wracking aspect for him, though, is knowing that even with rehearsals weeks before, there’s no telling how everything will really work until the night of, when any number of factors can affect the set.

One stunt involving a massive wall of flames that Genoway says has never been done at Coachella before was nearly nixed because of high wind (it went off went out a hitch on Sunday, and looked badass to boot). He also credits the on-the-ground teams for being able to handle problems on the fly, like broken wheels on the scaffolds used in the set — something to which he, like Reardon, credits to Silent House’s experience as one of the few big-name production agencies working at this scale.

Doja Cat
Philip Cosores

But the most important aspect, both directors agree, is their rapport with the artists, whom they both praise as not just creative geniuses but genuinely great people. As Reardon muses, “I don’t know how it became part of our pop culture zeitgeist that diva is used as an accolade. It shouldn’t be. Don’t be the diva. Be the nice person. And [Tyler] is so genuine and considerate and curious and kind and respectful that everybody goes just that bit further because you want to. I’ve been doing this since I was 21, and I’m 58, and I can count on the fingers of one hand how many people that I just think, ‘You are a genuinely good human being. I am very happy to be here. I will work a bit harder. I will have a little bit less sleep’ because he’s worth it in the end.”

Of Doja, Genoway is equally effusive, “She is always moving into a new world, and so it is so exciting and challenging to be able to try to follow her in which direction she is trying to go and make sure that we are supporting her vision and executing it… I am so thankful for our entire crew and for Doja, for her whole management team and everyone just for putting in the work because it is going to pay off.”

That work, done out of the spotlight and away from the cameras for months and months to create a 90-minute moment for both the artists and their fans, may not always get the attention and appreciation it deserves, but the creators at Silent House know it’s worth it. After all, where else can a self-described “weird theater kid” like Genoway or a 38-year touring vet like Reardon get to make not only their own dreams come true, but also those of these talented artists? When the moments being built are all anyone will be walking about for days afterward, the work done in silence can often speak the loudest.

Lupe Fiasco Drops Coachella-Inspired Single “Indio” Ahead Of Upcoming Album

Lupe Fiasco has been playing the role of pot stirrer over the past few weeks or so. The legendary lyricist from the Windy City has been practically egging on Kendrick Lamar to respond to him. The “Show Goes On” MC cleared up the meaning behind a string of tweets that he was one of the rappers to apologize publicly to K-Dot. Essentially, he was really walking back his decision because he felt he did not need to be involved. He did not try to deny that he felt Lamar is just “solid.” Lupe Fiasco also subliminally took shots at Lamar during his time on the Coachella stage, and his new single “Indio” is partially based on that.

In the middle of his performance, Lupe announced that he is willing to go toe to toe with any rapper. “I don’t give a f*** how many records you sold. If you want smoke, I swear on my muthaf***in soul, I will walk through n****s. I will chew up n****s, I will body muthaf***as,” Lupe exclaimed. Also during his time slot, the prideful rapper announced his new album Samurai is going to be out sometime this summer, according to HipHopNMore.

Listen To “Indio” By Lupe Fiasco

So far, he has dropped “LLC,” a lyrically dense track showcasing his elite pen game. This could be the first single for Samurai and now we might have the second with “Indio.” Its another braggadocious statement from Lupe, with bars like, “At the very least, at least the n****s knew your name / And they be coming out the woodwork / Telling wolves that a brick ain’t how a wood work / Lowkey I been on a sweep.” The production, contrastingly, is very mellow and features a chill guitar loop.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Indio” by Lupe Fiasco? Are you excited for Lupe’s upcoming album Samurai after hearing this, why or why not? Is this the better teaser track for the record? Do you think he has been too harsh on Kendrick Lamar as of late? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Lupe Fiasco. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

DDG’s Diamond Tooth Cost $250K, New Dad Blames Boredom For Flashy Purchase

When raising a child in 2024, too many parents find themselves living paycheck to paycheck, having to make major sacrifices in their lives to provide for their children. Such clearly isn’t the case for DDG and Halle Bailey, who’ve been able to spoil their son, Halo, with gifts and experiences people far older than him can only dream of. At the same time, they’re still able to support themselves, with The Little Mermaid actress always keeping her wardrobe and hair on point while DDG enjoys spending his money on jewelry.

Rather than adding to his collection of chains, on Tuesday (April 16), the Michigan-born multi-talent revealed he spent six figures on a new piece for his mouth. “Got bored so I spent a quarter million on a tooth,” DDG wrote on Twitter/X when showing off selfies of his flashy new cap. “Should’ve bought a house or sumn 🤷🏽‍♂️,” he reflected, suggesting that perhaps the purchase was a waste of money.

Elsewhere on social media, the “Elon Musk” artist is making news for his clever clapback at those criticizing his parenting. “Ni**as watched ‘The Proud Family’ for 10 seasons without seeing Wizard Kelly’s face, but trippin’ ’bout me not showing my son’s face, smh,” DDG reflected. “Now why would I wanna show yo fat face a** my baby?” he asked one hater. “[You] irregular head shaped a** ni**a, mind yo [business] and take that hot ass suede suit off 🤡.”

DDG’s obvious presence in his son’s life has reminded some critics of what Halle Bailey sees in the YouTuber after the previous ups and downs we’ve seen their relationship endure. However, lately, rumours of a breakup have been flying around Halo’s parents after Bailey was spotted at Coachella alone. Elsewhere, they seem to have unfollowed one another on Instagram, only furthering the gossip. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

50 Cent Shares Dubious Diddy Rumor: “I’m Not Sure What To Say Anymore”

50 Cent shared a dubious rumor about Diddy on Instagram, on Wednesday, accusing the Bad Boy mogul of having a sexual relationship with actor Reginald VelJohnson, who famously played Carl Winslow on the sitcom Family Matters as well as Sergeant Al Powell in Die Hard. The accusation comes from the outlet, Media Take Out, which only cites “a popular podcast.”

“Ok this is, this is, this is, I’m not sure what to say anymore. So Diddy was playing with Carls booty too. LOL ( I NEED A DRINK GUY’S),” 50 captioned the story on Instagram. Even 50’s fans could tell the rumors are likely not to be trusted. One user commented: “Mediatakeout is fake news, come on Fif.” Another asked: “Mediatakeout still around?”

Despite likely unfounded rumors, Diddy is still facing numerous accusations with more credibility. Following Cassie’s initial lawsuit regarding sexual abuse, which the two parties reached a settlement for, several more people have come forward with allegations of their own. Additionally, Homeland Security agents raided Diddy’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami amid a sex trafficking investigation. Over the last several months, Diddy has denied all of the claims against him and isn’t facing any criminal charges. His lawyer, Aaron Dyers, labeled the raids on his properties a “gross overuse of military-level force” in a statement at the time.

Tha Dogg Pound Reunion: Snoop Dogg, Swizz Beatz, Flavor Flav & More Tease Duo’s Comeback

Members of Tha Dogg Pound may have gone their separate ways in the late 90s, but it appears as though a reunion could finally be in the works. This week, several mysterious videos popped up on Snoop Dogg’s Instagram page, seemingly hinting that there’s something on the way. The videos feature Swizz Beatz, Flavor Flav, and even NLE Choppa. In them, they inquire about whatever happened to the pair, made up of Kurupt and Daz Dillinger.

“Dog, I gotta question: what happened to Tha Dogg Pound? I heard they broke up, is that true? That’s what I heard,” Swizz says in his video. Flavor Flav and Choppa’s questions were almost identical, and have led to plenty of speculation among fans. “Sounds like a new single is coming out produced by Swizz,” one user suspects. Another simply writes, “Something’s brewing.”

Swizz Beatz, Flavor Flav, And NLE Choppa Are Curious What Happened To Tha Dogg Pound

At the time of writing, it remains unclear exactly what the artists have planned, but it’s safe to say that fans can’t wait. Daz himself also teased a possible Tha Dogg Pound comeback earlier this month, though he’s said little about it since, keeping fans on their toes. “AINT NUTHIN LIKE FAMILY CUZZN SO ALL U HATERS DPGC IS BAC,” he captioned a photo of him and Snoop Dogg, leaving their followers to speculate.

While some are convinced that a reunion is imminent, others are worried this could just be another trick, a la the smokeless grill debacle. What Happened Between JT & GloRilla?

GloRilla and JT have been the topic of a flurry of rumors for over five months. At first, all indications that these rumors held no weight. However, this has since been upturned as the pair have traded some serious insults on Twitter. Beyond that, they’ve issued some even more serious threats to one another. In fact, JT has made it very clear that she doesn’t mind going back to jail, despite GloRilla recently claiming that they aren’t beefing on “Aite.” It’s unclear where they currently stand, but after the release of “Aite,” GloRilla and JT have not seen eye to eye.

The Armon Wiggins Story

The story about the alleged incident was made known to the public by The Rap-Up podcast’s Armon Wiggins in October 2023. The story went something like this: GloRilla approached JT at the 2023 VMAs with what seemed to be a friendly gesture. However, the interaction didn’t go as planned because JT allegedly rebuffed her. Glo then allegedly got violent and sent a drink, a hand, or a purse flying JT’s way. This incident set tongues wagging, and before long, the rumor mill churned out the story that GloRilla slapped JT.

Many found Armon Wiggins’ dramatic tale a little hard to believe especially since no one else had corroborated these claims. The only third party to ever disclose the story is Wiggins and he divulged this anecdote a month after the VMAs, a highly publicized event. To further clear the air, GloRilla’s album Ehhthang Ehhthang, released on April 5, included the song “Aite.” In the lyrics, GloRilla addressed the situation with JT, stating, “Me and JT ain’t the best of friends, but we ain’t beefin’.

April 5th Wasn’t “Aite”

While the story should have ended there, the story took yet another turn after JT, in multiple posts denied having been hit by GloRilla. On April 5th, she made yet another tweet denying it but also accused Glo of perpetuating a false story through her music. She said that GloRilla was playing into the rumors for publicity when she “…released a song about slapping b*tches…” only to follow it up with “Aite,” and “…now it’s female unity??CORNY!!!!”

In response, GloRilla fiercely defended her song in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. “Hoe shut yo dumb ass up & fix dem uglass wigs I said it ain’t no beef ho you da one with da secret animosity,” she began. Soon after, she followed up another tweet that read, “I mentioned yo name to clear the air, what you wanted me to say I didn’t slap you but with a purse instead?? Scary ass ho.”

The drama between GloRilla and JT escalated further when Glo shared a tweet that read, “Nvm no free promo.” This seemingly innocuous statement set off a chain reaction of heated exchanges. JT, not one to hold back, responded vehemently. She accused GloRilla of being a liar and dismissed the idea that GloRilla had hit her with anything. She tweeted: “OMG you are a liarrrr! B*tch you didn’t hit me with shit FANNED out ass b*tch you approach me sounding like an old beat-up box Chevy ‘WHAT UP GANG’.”

Evidently, GloRilla wasn’t backing down either. She referenced the night of the altercation one more time saying: “Inmate 0983 was taking off her shoes like she was gone get to me. Didn’t know if her a$$ was trying to get active or get sturdy. Lying about getting touched is crazyyy.”

Threats And Promises Made

GloRilla subsequently issued a warning to JT. She threatened to show up uninvited at one of JT’s “Backyard BBQ shows.” The gloves were off, and both artists began making bold threats. Before then, JT accused Glo of causing “all that sh*t with FNF remix too! Came in the game messy & phony ready to switch up on [her] homies too had to jump back on the roof.”

However, in a cryptic move, JT also made another tweet captioned with the word “Pending.” The tweet was a picture showing eight of her mugshots from over the years. The red-circled blank spot hinted at an upcoming addition to her collection. It was a bold statement, suggesting that she wasn’t one to shy away from a physical confrontation, and was ready for whatever turn it would take.

Glo took her up on the offer though. She replied that JT didn’t have what it took to face her since “dem mugshots is from you stealing not fighting.” JT followed that up by making her threats against GloRilla even bolder. Specifically, she wrote that her ninth mugshot would be from me “poking holes in you like the air mattresses you were sleeping on.”

It’s Probably Not Over Yet

Two days before, JT had also taken to social media to address female rappers who allegedly sneak dissed her. She tweeted, “Bitches be Sneak dissing letting their flunky wanna be ME ass friends hype their head up, but when I come, just know I’m not gonna play with neither one of y’all bitches. Y’all are long overdue.”  Since then, she has had online rifts, even with her best friend, fellow City Girl Yung Miami. She also got into it with Cardi B as well.

Meanwhile, GloRilla made an appearance at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. When asked about the back-and-forth with JT on Twitter, GloRilla chose to respond in a cryptic manner. In fact, her reply was rather philosophical. She simply said, “Everything just always everything. At the end of the day, that day gon’ motherf—in’ end. Everything is everything. That day gotta end.”

Rick Ross Calls Drake Washed, Claimed OVO Hush Is A Ghostwriter

Last month, Kendrick Lamar sparked a beef with two of the biggest voices in hip-hop. He featured on Future & Metro Boomin’s song “Like That” and used the opportunity to take down J. Cole and Drake. But that turned out to be just the beginning of people having issues with the “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper. In the weeks since he’s found himself taking shots from Rick Ross and Metro Boomin. Some fans even thought The Weeknd and Future could have been trying to hit him with more subtle criticisms.

But there’s absolutely no question that Ross wants beef. He’s come for Drake directly multiple times over the weekend and throughout the week. The original claim he tried to make over and over again is that Drake allegedly had a nose job done. Ross released an entire diss track hitting back at Drake called “Champagne Problems” earlier this week. But he isn’t done yet. Ross returned to Instagram with another story post about Drake, this time making an entirely different claim. He shared a pictures of the rapper with OVO Hush. Ross claimed both that Hush works as a ghost writer and also that Drake is “washed.” Check out the post he made below.

Rick Ross Continues Coming For Drake

In the comments, fans mostly aren’t even reacting to Ross’ claims. Instead, they’re blown away by just how much he’s been posting about Drake. “Find you someone who thinks about you as much as Ross thinks about Drake” one of the top comments on the post reads. Others pointed out that Ross has a history of hyping up Drake that looks a little awkward now, much like Metro Boomin. “Didn’t he say him drake are the top 2 percentile of writers. Now he got ghost writers 😂 make it make sense” another comment reads.

What do you think of Rick Ross’ new claim that Drake has continued using ghostwriters and is “washed?” Do you think Drake should respond to what Ross is saying or just leave it and focus on other beefs? Let us know in the comment section below.

New Own Dating Series ‘The Never Ever Mets’ Brings Online Romance to the Real World in Clip

New Own Dating Series ‘The Never Ever Mets’ Brings Online Romance to the Real World in Clip

OWN’s new dating show is here, and the first look shows how online connections pour into the real world and what happens next.

The Never Ever Mets, an interesting title, is the new dating series from OWN. Shadow and Act reports that it follows couples involved in an online relationship but haven’t met in person. It feels catfishy, but let’s continue. Some of the relationships have been going on for a long time, like years. Now, take Shay and Josh. They are introduced in the first look. They have been dating for 12 years without ever meeting. Insert chuckle at his absurdity and the reality of our world. Another subject, Sandia, is in a “virtual relationship” and is trying to rationalize her fears about online dating with her internet partner, Chris.

The series is hosted by Ta’Rhonda Jones, best known for Empire, and according to OWN, the 10-episode series “features seven couples who have been virtually dating for some time and believe they may have found lasting love – only they have never met each other in person! Now, they’re meeting face-to-face for the very first time and sharing a house together for three weeks to see if their internet love can survive off the screen and in real life.”

When the couples meet in person for the first time, their online relationship is put to the test in the real world through “a series of fun and flirty relationship activities, couples therapy and for some, a trip to the ‘boom boom room.’”

To take it a step further, the couples are visited by their friends and loved ones, who provide “meddling opinions and tension from others in the house,” adding to the challenges the couples have to face. Ultimately, the couples will decide if they will continue their “relationships” or move on.

Bunim Murray Productions produces The Never Ever Mets for OWN. The series premieres April 19 at 8/7c and will stream on Max.
